Yes! Both cars are amazing
I don't care about lighting tweaks or cosmetic frills, but I'm highly motivated by safety and maturing FSD technology. Project Juniper will presumably have optimized FSD support hardware (better camera placement and protection from elements, that sort of thing), and will benefit from newer components and software refinement, AI5 in particular. Looking like it will be a "must have" product.

If you’re gonna have to be in the driver seat for FSD, it’s really good enough now. Now if they let me get in the backseat, take a nap, eat, etc. then I’ll be interested
@@Mamba310 Elon is saying AI5 will have ten times the computing power of HW4. Presumably that added power is necessary to really do FSD right; otherwise why build it? And, yes, I wanna get in the backseat and tell the car where to go and then take a nap.

I didn’t get the approval from wife after weeks of begging, trust me I’ve been trying ever since it was first announced. But I can settle for the Y if it looks less buggy. Never been a fan of the current design though

Not really, the drivetrain is virtually unchanged, and most of the changes are cosmetic. It's just an update rather than an all new platform.

Evryone has the right to express his/her political opinions. I bought a Tesla model 3 when Musk supported Clinton and Biden. Now I will buy a model Y Juniper to replace my 2020 model Y. If we boycott a product just because the CEO politics, half of the US population will not use Netflix, Amazon, Google, Microsoft...because all of them support one side or the other.

There’s a good chance Juniper will be prewired hardnesses for a proper retrofit, whereas other models aren’t

@whatchumean-118 hw4 was a mid step upgrade, it was never suppose to exist and never part of the original plan that they discussed about during the original HW3 release. HW5 is the first real upgrade in hardware suite
Hw5 is a waste of time waiting for. What are you hoping to get from hw5 to delay owing the amazing car?
hw5 won’t be utilized for years and is specifically built for robo taxi. If you’re interested in renting out your car as a cab in 5 years or so, then make sure to wait for HW5. Other wise HW4 is perfect

This could be a very good time to acquire a model y in the coming quarter. Let’s imagine the Juniper is announced 1st or 2nd quarter 2025. 1) There will be a tremendous amount of pre orders, pushing delivery dates way back. 2) I’m betting at inception, there will be no .99%, or any other low APR for quite awhile. 3) The election. By the time Juniper comes out, there might not be a Fed tax credit around. I’m betting that Elon will not lower the MSRP, since all you creators & influencers are blowing the Juniper up. I purchased my 2024 Model Y w/.99% a few months ago knowing there would be FOMO generated for Juniper on the net. I added quality ventilated seat covers with seat sensors that come on when seated, I also added an RGB ambient strip with an occupancy sensor, along with a carbon fiber dash strip that looks great. I’m good for a few years. YMMV…
Inventory will not build, with pent-up demand from those waiting for the refresh, production will struggle to meet the demand when the new version becomes available.
