0:00 Introduction: What your face says about your health
0:43 #1 The shape of your face
2:35 #2 The tissue around the eyes
    3:40 #3 The eyes
    6:48 #4 The chin
7:38 #5 The texture of the skin
    11:14 #6 Dry flaky skin
    13:40 #7 Acne
    15:45 Get started!
Today I want to cover seven things that your face can tell you about what's happening internally with your health.
Looking at a person's face can give you so many clues about what's going on inside. To show you what I mean, we're going to take a look at my own face before and after getting on the keto diet and doing intermittent fasting.
7 things your face says about your health:
    1. The shape of the face
If someone has a round face, they have too much insulin and consume too many carbs. I was also storing a lot of water because, with every gram of glucose stored as glycogen, three grams of water are stored.
    2. The tissue around the eyes
Puffiness under the eyes is a good indication that the kidneys are backed up because of too much fluid retention.
    3. The eyes
Bloodshot eyes can indicate a liver problem. This could also be due to a lack of sleep or a deficiency of vitamins B2 and B3. But, usually, it's a liver problem.
    4. Under the chin
Fat under the chin is due to a spill-off of accumulated fat. This doesn't just affect how you look. It can cause certain issues like sleep apnea.
    5. The texture of the skin
Oily skin can mean the person has a zinc deficiency. It could also mean they have high androgens due to high insulin.
    6. Dry flaky skin
Dry, flaky skin could be due to a liver issue and/or too much omega-6 fatty acids. Cod liver oil contains omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A, and vitamin D. Because of this, cod liver oil may help with dry, flaky skin and oily skin.
    7. Acne
Acne can come from high androgens, which is really too much insulin. Zinc and a change in diet (to Healthy keto) may be beneficial.

This is actually good, you’ve grown more aware and less ignorant as to the precise nature of sugar’s activities in the body. Use your past experiences as a vector to push you away from sugar.
I was the same, heedlessly eating sugar. I would wake up hungry in the middle of the night, could never sit down for more than 1hr without then craving something carby to eat. I found it difficult to study, exercise and even socialize without having something sweet or carby to keep me happy. Until, laying under a bright light with the taste of latex in my mouth, the dentist told me I needed a root canal. Whilst it is upsetting I needed to get to that point to give it up, it was also the best thing that happened. I can now participate in life without needing sugar/carbs as a condition to do anything.
It’s evil stuff, rotting your skin, teeth, and mind from the inside out.

I had chicken skin at the back sides of my arms (triceps area) for about 40 years (since I can remember ). - I was told it's genetic, because my father's family all had that...
about 3 years ago I decided to give up diary... - milk, cheese (soft and hard, cottage mozzarella etc), yoghurts (even greek)...
it wasn't long before I noticed during shower that my skin became smooth... I was in shock 😲 my skin has NEVER been like that ever... but now it is 😁 I do eat small amounts of hard cheese occasionally and have a greek-kind yoghurt, but still not drinking milk or eating any soft cottage-like cheese...
even the skin on my legs got better, smoother... 😲😁
ps. and milk (if you look at the label) contains a lot of sugar... milk is quite sweet if you try it after a week without drinking... you'll be shocked how sweet the milk tastes...

Sounds like the situation I was in throughout my 20's! Like Dr. Berg, I had really bad acne as a kid, throughout my twenties and even going into my thirties too (I'm currently 41). With that, my diet was far from optimal, however I was playing soccer, lifting and snowboarding on a regular basis (still do all of which!). At 20 I was put on Accutane which resulted in a very minor case of dry eyes. I then moved here to Vegas in 2006 (I was 26) and my eyes obviously got worse, along with my acne. I saw a few different Dermatologists and one suggested to put me on Accutane (again) in the fall of 2008. So, I immediately started it and it was by far the worst decision I've made in my life - Being on Accutane for the second time destroyed almost half of the oil glands in my eyes and further dried out my skin. Mind you, living in one of the driest locations in the US doesn't help either, as when I travel to the PNW, East Coast or anywhere out of the desert, I get immediate relief (especially in Seattle and Portland).
Ultimately, if I was informed that all I really needed to do was change my diet back in my twenties, I could have avoided Accutane all together and the consequences of.

One of the best videos Dr. Berg has done - mind blowing! Had all but one of these issues (female) until I began a ketogenic diet. Little by little they all went away - the round "Dutch Boy" face, puffy bloodshot eyes, double chin, miserable acne - every negative trait mentioned. People think I've had plastic surgery because I look so much better now than a decade ago. (Or they think I'm lying about my age.) No, just dropped daily sugars & processed/natural carbs to 30g average total. I rarely count calories unless very hungry. Which is almost never anymore. In 2-1/2 years my weight went from 180 down to 133 & holding.
(Weight is still dropping but much more slowly now. But it's OK. As long as I'm healthy & feel & look it, very content. Just a shame that it took almost 5 decades to learn this, with Dr. Berg's help. A few other wonderful YT practitioners as well. :)

In a mirror universe (check the "many worlds theory" for time travel, or watch the AVENGERS movie) there is a Dr. Berg that is a diabetic or pre-diabetic, has a high carb/low fat diet with lots of processed foods, loves fruit drinks, bread, pasta, pizza, etc., has a puffy face due to high sodium, MSG and many other poisons put in the ingredients, and in his TH-cam channel explains exactly the opposite of what is being said here. At some moment in time there was an event that changed the course of history, but once Dr. Berg travels into his past, he meets his past self and stops that defining situation from happening, so the younger Dr. Berg keeps doing wrong things, and now the improved/"revamped" Doctor tries to recreate that event. Once the new Dr. Berg does this, he then travels back to the present and the original reality from which he left. He arrives a few minutes after embarking on the first time travel trip.

Weight loss update. Started at 83kg 1st Oct and now at 76.8kg. Thank you Dr Berg x
Edit: firstly, thank you to everyone for your comments and I'll share what I did since some have asked. Before I do that, I must share that I am in my early 20s and I am doing keto to just improve my lifestyle since I was considered obese for my BMI.
    What I did:
    1. I walk every single day for 50 mins to 1 hour.
    2. I do intermittent fasting and would usually have my first meal at 2PM and my last meal at 6PM (I like to leave 4 hour gap)
    3. I don't snack and as previously stated I skip breakfast.
    4. I drink a glass of water 30 mins before each meal and I also put about a tsp of apple cider vinegar in my water.
    5. I follow a low carb diet but not strictly ketogenic.
    6. I eat plenty of vegetables and with meals I just substitute most carbs with vegetables e.g. rice with cauliflower. Lasagne sheets with zucchini etc...
    7. I exercise 4 times a week.
    8. I don't obsess over my weight because I know I have lost it.
    9. The best advice I've ever heard: get 80% of your work done before your first meal!!! Thank me later for that.
    What I've noticed...
I feel healthier, better and more confident. My body looks toned and old clothes are starting to fit. It's been a while since I've had a smile on my face. If anyone has more Qs I'll edit this xx

Don't bother discussing with family, your doctor or your dietitian, because those three types will criticize what you're doing. Dr. Berry is great, too. As you inform yourself and learn what works for your body, you will trust yourself and choose the mentors that make sense to you. You're the boss of your health, fewer mentors and the right ones is key. Take care.

It's a wonderful place to be, I'm not too far into my journey, but I'm dealing well with it thank God! At my age I decided when I started this journey that very occasionally I will give myself small amounts I've something I would consider a treat, as has been advised by some of the doctors I've watched. So I marked my 3-week point with an open-faced tuna sandwich on the smallest piece in the loaf airiest good pannell Italian bread, I had decided from watching One video that said if you restrict that carbohydrate intake over a very long stretch of time, that slows down the flooding of insulin, therefore you wouldn't have such a huge insulin so I said well I'll make sure I don't consume that whole piece of bread in under a half-hour as was suggested. I had the tiniest bite of the bread with the tuna. It's somewhat was taste satisfying in my expectations from my memory. But was short-lived and that was all I needed before discussed set in as my brain kept telling me all I had learned and believe it or not The taste didn't override the desire to continue to eat to live instead of living to eat. I have had my moments where I reminisced about tasting something, only to have a desire for a nice steak with onions and mushrooms, upon the first bite entering my mouth the memory quickly turns to disgust, and I find myself daydreaming and thinking about the low-carb foods when having cravings now, I truly believe the body will crave what it means when it is running properly. By this I mean I might crave liver and onions if I need iron. I might crave magnesium-rich foods if my electrolytes are off . I am happy that I think I can say I have detox off the sugar, and if I don't allow myself to subconsciously be mentally manipulated by mass behaviors(group settings, functions, events, familiar people places things evoking nostalgia) I can be looking back saying I've been this way for 5, 10, 15 years. Looking forward to that.

Even though we eat very "clean" we lived in a townhome where we found out we had three types of toxic mold. Since moving and giving him certain herbs/roots/fungi, and adding different foods to his diet, his eyes have become so much clearer! Your before and after pics remind me of myself. I recently came across a photo from about 3 years ago. I was shocked. My face was so puffy. I did not look well. Then in Jan 2019 because of a yet undiagnosed health problem, I went to an acupunturist who had me quit all sugar, cut back my alcohol consumption, and go vegetarian/vegan, which I did for a year. My health problem was diagnosed later that year by a Chemical Allergy Patch test. Though I lost quite a bit of weight, I felt being vegetarian was not the healthiest thing for me. So I began healthy keto in 2020. I turn 66 in a couple of weeks, but I look much better now than I did a few years ago.

The resulting infections required major abdominal surgeries and many months with an iliostomy bag and healing intestines. This caused me to lose 75 pounds, but not in a healthy way, but lack of nutrition. It literally starved off. Now I am well and determined to nourish myself properly and also keep the weight off. I have been following a keto diet for 6 months and have never felt better. My newly healed gut functions like a new baby's, with no bloating, constipation or digestive problems. I feel great, I love the food, and have stayed thin. The things you describe in this video are all gone except the dry skin patches. I just turned 70 and look forward to a long, healthy life. Thanks, iso wish I could send this video to my teenage self! I also had horrible acne and excessively oily skin no matter how often I washed my face and hair. Since I was thin, I mistakenly thought I could eat all the carbs I wanted. As I got over 40 and my metabolism slowed way down, I got the very dry eyes, the dry flaky patches between my eyebrows, etc. After I turned about 55, I was pre-diabetic; I probably had been for many years before it was finally diagnosed. Fortunately, going on a Keto diet and Intermittent Fasting fixed that and helped me lose weight as well. My problem is that a long un-diagnosed gluten sensitivity and leaky gut caused me to develop multiple food sensitivities and some of the foods typically found in a Keto diet, like butter, cream and eggs are now no-no’s for me. 😢

I'm a 30 year old women. I cut out sugar and most carbs about 2 weeks ago. My skin has already cleared up, I have so much more energy, my face and body are less puffy, and I've already lost some weight (could be water weight, but who cares). Also, I can't believe how soft my skin feels! Took me ages to figure out that it was all the sugar and carbs I was eating. I only found these videos after I changed my diet, but you bet your butt it works. The first 5 days were hard mostly because of the side effects (feeling super thirsty, peeing a lot, mild insomnia, some irritability, sugar cravings), but it's worth it. Coffee got me through the worst of it :P
More benefits include not needing eye drops anymore for dry eyes. I haven't tried wearing my contacts since changing my diet but maybe I'll be able to wear them for longer now. Better concentration - I have been able to meditate daily, which has been a goal of mine for years. I don't feel like I absolutely need a nap every time after I eat. And I think my pms symptoms have been reduced although it's a bit too early to tell.
Try it for yourself, you won't regret it.

Imagine if everyone had a nutrition class in school that was like this… I had a very short 10 minute class before school on Wednesdays for nutrition and it was the basic/generic model of eat healthy… nothing about the consequences, why you should, what could happen if you change. Imagine the amount of inspiration a class of kids would have listening to this video. I guarantee me in middle school would go home and tell my parents how much I learned because it’s such a ginormous topic that no people don’t want to break down.

Stopped adding sugar to any of my drinks/meals at the beginning of December 2022 completely and for the first 8 weeks, I lost about 27 lbs. While I stopped consuming sugar, I also increased my intake of water (which was next to none as well), and "scheduled" my sleep time which gave me fast results. I began working out (slowly) shortly thereafter so I would not "sag" after losing that much weight so quickly. I also wanted to curb hunger for non-nutritious food. I started implementing minerals and vitamins since most bottled water lose all minerals due to the reverse osmosis process. Since I started this process very slowly with minimum but realistic expectations, I have been able to go over the hump that I usually hit (done this 2 times in the past already) where I would lose a lot of weight fast due to dietary changes and exercises, but I would gain all the weight back and some more, after the routine would prove to be too much of a sacrifice. Small incremental changes with high hidration, moderate but intense excercise, good sleep and keeping stress (life, work, school, etc.) to zero have proven to be the "duh" moment I needed. I say this because, it takes time for you to gain a lot of weight...it only seems logical, that it would take small progressive steps to lose all the weight and be at a normal healthy weight. Getting used to having everything right away, gives you this foolish expectation that everything should be achieved yesterday when small steps seem to work better and have a much more lasting effect. Anyway, enjoy all of your videos and been using Fasting on a window of 4 hours for a couple of weeks now without any difficulties (started with 16 hour window, going down to 14, 12, 10 & 6 before). Thanks for the valuable information!
