Dr Berg can you clarify in regards to oils like expeller pressed sunflower oil? Is that still inflammatory if it's expeller pressed or does that not make a difference? I try as best I can to avoid any of the other known inflammatory oils but it's really hard to find certain foods that don't have some type of an inflammatory oil. Sometimes I see expeller pressed and wonder if that's better. Thank you!

I am a South Indian and our food is a lot related to the diets mentioned in this video. I am surprised at how our traditional foods have been structured. Wow... and we tamil people have this one mantra "unave marundhu" which means that our food is the best medicine. Food apart from satiating our senses has a basic purpose of maintaining our physiology.
Majority of billion Bharat washi consume home cooked pure vegetarian foods consisting of cereal, lentils, vegetables, Indian spices and dairy. Our great Indian foods protected us from the dangers of china's Corona virus during recent pandemic.
My friends from India always eat carbs with fat, meat with rice or bread with lots of oil. All the foods are really greasy, the gravies are just pure fried oil... most of them have fat bellies and skinny legs and arms. It does not look healthy. But still butter chicken with parotta and chicken biryani are the tastiest dishes I’ve ever tried. 😊

Do you find the Ramadan fasting tough when it's a summer fast with longer daylight hours and hot weather? Especially not having any fluids during the fasting.
I am also Muslim and fasting this month, so I think I can jump in here to answer. It can be tougher in the warmer months, usually more challenging at the beginning, but your body gets used to it usually after the first few days or week. Thank you so much for all of the very valuable information! I am 74 and I am doing pretty well, but my biggest struggle is sugar and it is a constant battle. But I have been doing better going from an A1C from 7.3 to 6.6. All of your videos are so helpful because you give information but you explain things so thoroughly. Please keep up the good work. We all need so much help, especially since sugar is in everything and that 8/10ths of the grocery story is carrying food we shouldn't be eating. Thanks again!!
I was like u. I was an absolute sugarholic. And I would get so weak and shaky if I didn't eat regularly. But from the very first time I ate KETO, I DID NOT get hungry or weak. I was stunned that I could go without eating! I didn't eat for a whole day! Astounding! I have not craved sugar since. In fact, when I ate carbs, they made me want to eat more food. Then I found out u don't have to intentionally eat carbs cuz they tell u u have to. You'll get all the carbs ur body needs just from the KETO diet - without any additional carbs! Nice. Yea!
@@flikajones6109 Thanks for the info. I will have to check out KETO. When my A1C was high, I really worked at eating very simply with no sugar, but after a while, I hit the wall and just couldn't look at another vegetable! I just went back to eating normally, but I know my number will be up again. It is so difficult to change eating habits that have been with you for almost 75 years!
I’m 74 , a few years ago, I was looking very I’ll. I was underweight really life not worth living. I cut out all grains, processed foods, sugar, artificial sweeteners, it’s not a overnight way of life. Sugar was a addiction, my blood sugar dropped constantly I never went anywhere without food. I didn’t know sugar and carbs caused low blood sugar. Now I eat protein and vegetables , my blood sugar never drops. You don’t have to read labels you only eat real foods. I eat vegetables with every meal (yes breakfast). If you fail it’s because your not eating enough vegetables I use fresh and frozen. For lunch I eat a whole dinner plate of salad. My husband doesn’t follow my diet but now eats a huge salad for lunch and is feeling better. Fats are important olive oil, real butter a must. Plus I drink only water with salt, potassium added. I do take lots of supplements. This is the first time in my life that I feel normal . You can do this, my diet was so bad. To make cooking easy I do most of my vegetables in the oven season with salt ( Redmond Real salt delicious) and olives oil. Don’t give up its so worth it to feel good.
Thanks Dr. Eric this is a very useful video. I am Jain. We do dry fasting every month. In our fasting process we stop eating before sunset . Next day we neither drink nor eat .Third day morning after sunrise we take clove, ginger, cardimom, black pepper, cinneman, nutmeg soup. after that we eat food with ghee(fine butter. ) After that I feel so light and energetic. Also we eat any types of pickles from generation

Thank you!

Do you find the Ramadan fasting tough when it's a summer fast with longer daylight hours and hot weather? Especially not having any fluids during the fasting.

It can be tougher in the warmer months, usually more challenging at the beginning, but your body gets used to it usually after the first few days or week. Also, I've found that doing work out in the sun ( whether on a laptop or in the garden) while fasting, actually gives you a lot of energy! :)

Finally we have something in common

My number one Doctor. I'm an RN and all I can say, you're amazing! I shared about you to my family and friends. I've been following you throughout the years. You're not selfish to share your knowledge. God bless you and your family.
I so appreciate your videos. You take the time to properly educate us on what we need and WHY. Most doctors tell us what we should be doing without really helping us understand and in my opinion understanding why makes me more likely to do what needs to be done for my body. Very informative as always. Thank you.
Alhamdulillah, dry fasting is what we do during Ramadan

@@billy2491 I am 34, nearly 35, but this is what I've been doing for some months now and plan to continue for decades to come (but with some variation as it's a lot tablets and want to experiment) - never felt better and skin is looking good (not that it ever was bad):
B1, B2, B3, B6 (evenings - good for sleep) copper, zinc, D3, K2, MSM, silica, oregano oil, flax seed oil and/or cod liver oil, milk thistle, and just added Dong Quai to it. Sometimes I have a spoonful of ghee in the mornings.
I feel good and confident continuing with these, but as that is many tablets a day I sometimes forget to take a few but that's fine.
I do 18/6 IF and get enough sleep and go for long walks regularly and do some other workouts, as I feel. Dr Berg has helped me a lot.

As a muslim ,i do dry fasting for 29/30days once a year from sunrise to sunset ,and trust me it becomes easy starting from day 3 ,and the fact that everybody around is doing it too at the same time decreases temptation and make it a lot easier .
It's different and harmful way of fasting where people eat so much post sunset just no control and oily.

I am 58 and a Registered Nurse. Several times over the past year I have done a 72 hour water fast that made me feel lighter, healthier and younger. Only once did I dry fast and that lasted about 48 hours because instead of getting clear, I felt ill and weak. My family was worried about me because I was lethargic and looked unwell. My body was sending me signals that dry fasting is not for me, however, water fasting for autophagy works great and helped me drop my weight set point.
Hi I just want to mention that dry fast shouldn't be that long it should be done in 1 day you should fast at most 15h. I'm talking from my experiance as Muslin girl we fast a dry fast for 30 days for 15h a day a depens on people for me I can go until 21h per day since I can't handle more that 1 meal. What I have come to accept is that even though I love my family very much and want them to be healthy, they are on their own path. I do what I can by not bringing unhealthy food into the house and cooking their meals, but beyond that, I let go. Give them he information and be a good example but otherwise it's up to them

Hey, I am almost 60 and people say I look in my 40s. When I was your age when I played volleyball tournaments I always wore a wide brimmed CA lifeguard hat. People made fun of my hat. Also wear an spf every day. I regret not putting it on all the way down my neck and to my chest. I show sun damage on my lower neck. Put it on your hands, too. Water-at least 64 oz a day. Eat Whole Foods-fresh fruits and vegetables, cultured foods and drinks for your micro biome, and all of the great supplements Dr. Berg recommends. Exercise-don’t beat yourself up, but keep in good shape, cross-train with a variety of sports and exercises.

Trouble with our Ramadan is that we end up eating little too much at aftari. traditionally.
I don.t even think this was really meant for gratitude to start with, the main idea behind this was for you and GOD knows what is best for you. Now are you getting any benefits from it? It is great to fast but what are you eating in your window time? Focus on that, what is something serve at night will completely mess up the purpose of your entire fasting, think about it!
