👍👍👍👍 Grrrrreat Video...! Dr Berg tells the Truth...👍🧐I've been on a Water only Fast for 2 wks today and my Face and Belly have shrunk just like Dr Burg said in this video!😁 I am taking Vitamins/Minerals and 90 grams of Coconut oil per day so my D3 vitamin will absorb properly. Also drinking 2 liters of water per day and add to it the electrolytes Pink Himalayan Sea Salt and Potassium(Using "No Salt" brand from grocery store)....
yeea you bet I did alot reading on how it does the body and restricts bood flow I remember my pants used get tighter after drinking one of those drinks with high sugar I think it was the blood vessals constricting and pressing the blood outward from inside ,I got into a conversation with a fellow at GNC and he knows some nutrition when I didnt know at the time and he said it probly was blood being forced from the intestings to where forces fluid outward its because of the high sugar causing it people really need know that its dangerous and it cant be good for organs like the heart and such.
Can you make a book/list of things to eat that do not contain sugar or that are not as loaded with a ton of sugar because everything has sugar in it nowadays?
I watched this video 9 months ago and decided to give it a try. I went from 190lbs. back in march, to 155lbs today. And i ONLY gave up sugar! Never again
@@massivepassiveI’ve cut out almost all carbs but after dinner I’ve been having dark chocolate. I know I have insulin resistance and high blood pressure. I need to take the step to rid sugar.
@missyrachy it's a huge step, but definitely worth it. I'm not exactly the pinnacle of self discipline, and have failed many diets in the past. I view this more as a lifestyle change and that seems to have helped.
I’ve been sugar free since I woke up this morning. No sugar in my coffee, then I saw those freshly baked cookies on the stove, calling my name. I looked away, but they pulled me back. No, I thought, yes they said. I’ll try again tomorrow. Stay tuned.
I’m 48 and have been into body building for 30 years. I studied nutrition extensively. I had never been overweight, but ate tremendous amounts of sugar, thinking it was burning it off. I was wrong. This video probably saved my life because I was going pre-diabetic with elevated triglycerides, massive fatigue, shooting, throbbing pain, vision loss and debilitating lethargy. After two months cutting all additional sugar I’m feeling like I’m 25 again hitting the gym 5 days a week with endless energy. God bless you and screw the corrupt pill pushers…
What a great video and post. I am 46 and always been into weightlifting/body building. I am becoming more educated on nutrition (I eat fairly clean) but want to dive in further and this Doctor's videos are so helpful and I can totally relate to your post!!!
There's something strange happened to me when i cut sugar six months ago , I've been suffering from depression since i was 18 believe it or not nothing helped not a therapy not anything but strange enough to say since i cut sugar out of my life I've been feeling better and better every day ... Started feeling like a whole brand new person
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Sugar + ultra processed foods most DEFINITELY affect metal health, as depression is an inflammation in the brain. Sugar drives inflammation throughout the body. It’s definitely connected. Hoping this information will help so many more people. PSA🗣️ traditional medicine doctors are NOT going to tell you this.. remember they’re in bed with big pharma..
I've been sugar free for 2 hours. I'll come back with updates if I'm strong enough to go longer. UPDATE: I've caved a few times in the past month, but for the most part I've stayed away from all sources of added sugar. my double chin is almost gone and my torso is slimmer. My energy levels are better. Next I'm cutting out the things that turn into sugar in the body. NEXT UPDATE: I didn't stay off added sugar. Ended up realizing it's not necessary, but getting off of it for the time that I did was a crucial step in my journey. I have obtained 6 pack abs and I do partake in sugar. I do recommend taking a break from it, but quitting it entirely isn't necessary
1. Your face and midsection will change 2. Improves eyes/brain/arteries/kidneys 3. Decreases urination at night 4. More energy 5. Cravings between meals go away 6. Less stiffness/pain/inflammation 7. Lose weight 8. Better skin 9. Improves insulin resistance Thank you Doctor❤️
If you can make it three days without sugar you can do anything. It’s amazing how the cravings get less and less. Don’t beat yourself up if you cheat. Just keep going and don’t give up! It’s so worth it. Thank you Dr. Berg for keeping us all motivated!!!!
I started Monday. Today, Wednesday, I walked into a store to buy some more protein foods and decided, screw it I am buying some Hershey's Milk Chocolate candy. Thanks to them over charging for candy this week I was able to say screw it and walked out without that candy.
Facts. I have a diagnosis of alcohol use disorder, moderate. Medical detox was harsh and and my body went through it during my first nine months of being sober. Guess what? I found that cravings for food products with processed sugar were more frequent and intense than those for alcohol. But, withdrawal from processed sugar was not near as difficult as I anticipated. Processed sugar is insanely addictive. I'm glad I quit.
Isn’t that amazing? The cravings really do stop. I buy dark chocolate without any sugar added and I find having a small piece of it is all I need should I want a little treat. I was at my mothers and I had a piece of dark chocolate of hers and all I tasted was sugar.. I love being sugar-free.
I have been sugar free for seven days so far! It is difficult, but I am determined to keep on going! Dr. Berg and the wonderful comments here are motivating me! 😎❤️
If there were only hersheys chocolate it would be great, i love chocolate but that is the worlds most horrible, smells like sweaty feet @quatchkopf3658
Cut carbs and sugars about 6 Months ago. Everything Dr Berg has said I have noticed first hand. All while losing 75 pounds and continuing to lose more. I feel better than I ever have at 41 years old. Thank you for these videos Dr Berg!!
@@TrueShoot1000 no I know fruit vegetables suppose the aim is to reduce it a lot but then I don't understand these other videos that say eat carbs to lose weight 😅
I hear all of the GOOD things that people are getting I am not one of them just the exact opposite I have been fasting since THURSDAY at10 pm it is now 10:30 AM
After hearing this, I feel like sugar should be in the same category as hard drugs and be banned! At this point it might be the be only way to quit! It's even more difficult to get away from because it's hidden in everything!!!! Lord help me!!
I followed this 2 months before my daughters wedding. I was a hefty 252 pound former athlete. I cut out sugar, bread, and pasta. No sodas, no juices. Basically, almost anything that was processed because there is so much added sugar in processed food. I dropped 33 pounds in the 2 months! Granted, the first 2 weeks are tough but you just need to be strong and tell yourself that it is over in 2 months. I look and feel great! I sleep better and I don't get sleepy during the mid-afternoon. Now, I don't want to go back to my bad eating habits.
I stopped eating sugar just over I was 1 year ago (in July) & it is the single best health decision I’ve ever made. I use raw honey in my coffee & it tasted so much better. I lost 40 lbs in 5 months of cutting sugar. I then removed all white food from my diet; starched, bleached foods. That took me down another 15 lbs. I was up to 205 lbs & am now 150 at age 50. I’ve never felt better. My knees work again & I don’t huff & puff. It’s all about what you put into your body. ❤ Edit since people don’t know the difference. Sugar has refined sugar that is MUCH more unhealthy than honey. I didn’t think I’d have to put “I stopped eating refined sugar” but I guess I do since there are so many dense know it alls in the comments.
"my knees work again" THIS 💯 Whenever I willingly binge out on sugar for a weekend, my right knee flares up for about 3 days. I limp. I literally cut the sugar. And presto, right back to sprinting. Same thing happens after an alcohol binge. Listen to your body.
Omg. I started this year in July. I’m down about 4 sizes. No stopping. Breaks in willpower happen and I wake up puffy the next day. 🤦🏼♀️ I turn 50 in January and feeling great! Woot woot!🎉
I am 63 and had a serious sugar addiction. I literally ate my way to diabetes. Now, I am on a keto diet and do intermittent fasting for 16 -20 hours a day. It took a few attempts - I found it so hard not to snack on sweet stuff - but at last I've conquered my addiction. I no longer feel controlled by food. I eat to live instead of living to eat. ❤
If u can make it the first 2 weeks of a low carb diet…u will have no problem getting to that feeling better point…it’s those first 2 weeks that’s the hardest part of it
Everytime I watch a video of yours, I feel like I'm attending a school that I wish I had attended a long time ago. Dr. Berg University offers the best health education you can get, better than any state college. Thank you.
Several years ago I was on keto, and messed it up on vacation. I tried to get into ketosis, and was unable. Frustrated, I gave up and continued eating whatever. On March 5, I saw a video by Ken Berry about carnivore, and did carnivore for 25 days to sort of reset my body. I then switched to healthy keto diet, and I'm now doing keto and intermittent fasting OMAD. I'm down 15lbs, and feeling much better. You and Ken Berry are saving my life. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all you do.
be careful. my brother ended up diabetic a few months after . he had too much insulin being produced and for me ive quit sugar and have actually gotten slower and haven't lost any weight it can bad effects cutting cold turkey.
For those who are still skeptical, i started this prosses a while ago ( about 4 months ago ) and didn't change anything else in my diet. i went from 240 pounds to 180 in 4 months. I'm just saying this isn't bullshit i'm living it right now and its so worth it!! Its day and night how much better you feel!!!
@@altavoir He probably cut out nearly all sources of carbs as well, leading to an unhealthy weight loss pattern. Sure he lost a lot of weight, but a lot of it was undoubtedly muscle.
I cut the sugar out a couple of years ago. In my own personal experience, none of these things happened in the first two weeks. To be clear, all of these things absolutely happened, just not as quickly. The first week was hell on earth. I couldn't focus, my memory was screwy, I got irritated much easier, I constantly felt hungry, and I was exhausted. The one thing not mentioned enough here is that our bodies are physically addicted to sugar, so when we cut it out, we go through withdraw. There's a lot of similarity with drug addicts. Our drug is sugar. If any of you are thinking about doing this, just stick with it through the first week or two. Once your body gets through the withdraw, all of the items on this list kick in and you will feel better than you have ever felt. The weight falls off, your mind clears, your energy returns, foods you never thought would fill you up will make you full. It's 100% worth it. I dropped 50 pounds in less than a year, I started writing again, and I was just happier with my life. Just know you have to get through that physical withdraw first. Nothing worth doing is ever easy.
@@Lucia-nu2ks well obviously natural sugars is necessary to your diet and healthy as it's eaten with fibre, sugar is a must for your diet but 'artificial' or processed sugar is not
Actually, when I tried it the first time I also felt really bad, I was fatigued and couldn't concentrate from the first day so I stopped. What I noticed was that I was doing it the wrong way. I thought the reason it didn't work for me is because I have 2 autoimmune diseases which are Hashimoto's and Graves disease. I was wrong and the reason why It didn't work for me the first time was because I wasn't drinking any electrolytes during the day. I made sure that I had a total of around 2,000 mg - 2,500 mg of Himalayan sea salt or real salt per day which is equal to 1 tea spoon a day. My current weight is 139 and my height is 5.3 feet so I feel fine with this sodium amount but much taller people who weigh more need 1-3 teaspoons a day. I also made sure I was eating 3,000 - 4,700 mg of potassium per day from veggies and protein and make sure to take a minimum of 400 mg of magnesium per day. If anyone starts doing this from the first day doing keto you won't experience any side effects. Also, make sure you're eating the correct calories and macros for your weight and height. I was overeating and adding too much butter to my food and noticed that butter made me feel worst so I had to replace butter with guee the second time and now I feel amazing and have no more fatigue or lack of concentration. Before I had to sleep 10 - 12 hours to feel I had had some sleep and now only sleep 7 hours and feel energized.
After watching this video back in October 2023 I started my sugar free journey on 10/6. It was SO much easier than I thought it would be! Day 3 I got out of bed pain free and no longer craved sugar! My skin has improved and I just feel better all around! It's now been 91 days and an added bonus... I'm down 10lbs! Thanks Dr Berg!
Regarding urine, it's been three months ago since I almost completely stopped eating stuff with sugar. I'm a truck driver here in Texas. I drive from Austin to Houston on a daily basis. Before I stopped eating all kinds of food with sugar and drinking Dr. Pepper, I would stop at least two to three times to urinate at gas stations or truck stops. But now that I almost completely stop eating and drinking sugar, I can actually drive to Houston or return to Austin without stopping two or three times to urinate. Yes, my face is a lot slimmer and my gut is almost gone. Went from a size 36 to 34 on the first month, second month, down to a size 32, and now I'm a size 31. I have more mental focus, more energetic, and my fingers on my feet and hands no longer feel numb. My doctor was very impressed since the last time I saw her for my yearly visit. Thanks for your TH-cam channel, I almost feel like a teenager. Much success and blessings in everything you do Dr. Berg. Cheers from Austin Texas.

I was a sugarholic. Tried this challenge 3 weeks ago and within days felt a big improvement. Lost weight, dont feel bloated, feel younger, more energy. There's been such an improvement, I'm continuing the IF and holding off the sugar as I really dont want to go back to feeling so unwell. Many thanks Dr Berg, for this video.
I didn't eat sugar for 2 weeks, and now everything is too sweet: apples, blueberries, kiwi, tangerines. The only thing that is not too sweet for me now is sweet onion, lol. The first week, I had no energy, was tired all the time and was questioning why my health is so bad. Then my body switched, it is like someone connected me to the electric outlet. I can work out now as crazy. I never had so much energy in the group classes before. And I feel happier too!
Excerpts: What would happen if you gave up sugar for just two weeks. 1. Changes in your face and midsection Your face would become slimmer, and you would lose weight in your midsection because your liver is releasing fat. 2. Improvements in your eyes, brain, arteries, and kidneys You'll experience a lot of benefits and potential improvements in these four areas of the body when you cut out sugar. 3. Decreased urination at night You'll get up less at night to urinate because water follows sugar. Consuming sugar triggers urination, especially at night. 4. More energy Your body is forced to run on fat fuel instead of sugar fuel. Your body has more calories from stored fat to use as fuel, giving you more energy. 5. Cravings between meals go away Your cravings and appetite will go away between meals because even though you're not eating, your body is satisfied by your own fat. 6. Less stiffness, pain, and inflammation These issues can start to improve when you stop consuming sugar, and you may notice less of a need for certain medications. 7. Weight loss You're going to lose water weight as well as actual fat. Many different health benefits also come with losing weight. 8. Better skin You may notice improvements in your skin because of a drop in inflammation. 9. Improves insulin resistance Insulin resistance is at the heart of many health conditions. But, when you give up sugar, you can start to improve insulin resistance. Thank you Dr Berg!! 🐱👍🏿
I’ve been off sugar for a week and I’m feeling all of these effects! It’s insane. The stiffness in the morning is gone and my mood has been improved. Also my blood sugar is back down. I lost 8 lbs too . The first three days are tough but once you get over that hill it’s insane
I have stiffness in the morning too. I just turned 50 and my body all of a sudden feels. I'm trying so hard to eat right. Dr. Berg's video and comments like yours are so motivating.
I’ve tried this healthy Keto before for up to 3 months straight, I lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks going from 128 to 120 lbs. the first week was really hard the 2nd week was better after that I was definitely less hungry and my clothes were fitting better, but I didn’t experience more energy which I was really looking forward to and my mood wasn’t better at all ;it was worse) I had to eat by myself because seeing my family eating carbs and sweets was definitely hard, I went back to my old way of eating, I felt like I couldn’t go to any family gatherings I couldn’t go to eat out with my family because most places don’t have this healthy food 😞
I stopped consuming foods with added sugars about a year ago (I’m 19) and it has profoundly helped me. Many people around me at home and in my workplace condemn me due to my aptitude of living a healthy lifestyle. Rather peculiar. I just wanted to share that it is oddly common to receive criticism from others merely by bettering yourself. Moreover, it’s so worth it!
This is very funny to read. I’ve experienced the same in my life as well. All you need to do is stick to maintaining your great health while others complain and wonder why you’re doing so well. Keep at it!
This is SO true. So many people look down on me when I turn down food at work…like I think I’m better than them or something. I’m not trying to be mean about it. I just prefer to eat the food I prepare myself and doesn’t have a bunch of preservatives in it. 🤷♀️
People don't actually like to see other people succeed - they are envious or jealous and will do whatever they can to make you fail and drag you down to their level. Happens all of the time...
I started keto and gave up sugar 1 month ago. It changed my life totally. I was depressed, had insane fatige all the time, couldn't sleep, my memory, brain just didn't function. I was a sugar addict, my stomack was bloated all the time and I had pain. (Altough my BMI was normal) I am a new person now. I have energy, i lost 10 pounds, I sleep at 10 pm, I jump out of bed in the morning. I have plans and I absolve them. I am very thankful to dr Berg for all these videos. It changed my life.
When I was diagnosed with cancer, I stopped sugar I lost 30 pounds and all my levels in my body dropped to normal! When I stopped the sugar, this was the reason there’s been no chemo or radiation! I went back to EATING from the ground and not eating from the animal! ❤
I did the chemo and radiation and now I’m Trying to rebuild my body kidney problems uti infection. leaky heart valves. I’m hoping this diet will help me rebuild my heart health in general.
I've been working on my soda addiction by trying to limit it to a window of time in the afternoon and slowly shinking it. Right now, I have it 12pm-6pm, but my end goal is 2-4 pm. I've tried cold turkey before but always failed.
I'm starting no sugar from today, need all of your support, I'm 128kg and mentally down, feeling like not good for anything. Will update here my progress every 2 days.
I started three weeks ago at 136 kg and as of today 129 kg, I think it just takes a while to realise how many foods have carbs in them, but I'm getting results and feeling better already.
Did you give up ALL sugar? Even the sugar in certain vegetables and fruit? I eat very little refined sugars bit I eat okinawa sweet potatoes and berries
I've quit sugar about 5 years ago. Didn't gain a single pound in weight since. My teeth are in their best condition in forever and I'm literally never tired. Would recommend.

@@Drberg When your body has no sugar to burn it doesn’t go after the fat, it goes after the carbs, hence the low/no carb diets. Carbs = Glycogen. Glycogen = fuel stored in your body/liver/brain. Until you’re depleted of carbs only then can you start burning fat.
I’m almost 58 years old and was diagnosed with BPH. I came across Dr. Berg’s videos, decided to give up sugar, and my BPH numbers went from 11.82 to 4.62 in less than a year! Still a high number, but I’m still working on it also. Initially my “doctors” (who knows what’s best for me 🙄) wanted me to start some meds. I told them, “I do it my way first, if it doesn’t work we’ll do it your way.” Results? Lower BPH!! I’m up and down with battling the sugar cravings and late night eating. Gotta find a way to discipline myself and totally stay away from it.

I did this and still drink beer sometimes and have lost 58 pounds since February (7 months). I was 258 now 200 (6 foot tall). Mainly just drink black coffee and water. Cut out a lot of bread and no more sweets or creamer. My blood pressure is way down - 115/78 instead of 140 to 150 over 90 to 100. My heart rate is also a lot lower - 60 resting. I feel way better. I am a lot less hungry too. I still eat carbs sometimes, but not nearly as much and focus more on vegetables and meat and have a low carb nut bar for breakfast usually or eggs. Cutting out the sweets and carbs does wonders. I’ve always worked out, but never had the results until I lowered the carbs. I now fit into large shirts and maybe am a 32 waist instead of 36. I stopped eating sugar on February 15th of this year. I’m down 67 pounds as of today. It’s very true that your face will start to lose its puffiness. I noticed that my mood has improved, I feel more level headed and focused. I cut way down on carbs too. I’m so proud of myself! I pay more attention to what happens to my body when I eat certain foods and that’s why I’ve been able to keep the weight off without going to the gym. Eventually I’ll go to tone up but I’d rather just keep the focus on what I’m eating/not eating for right now.
That's really awesome! I get overwhelmed when I think of quitting sugar. Idk what TO eat. Especially since I'm vegetarian. But it's very commendable that you're sticking to it!

I wish I could show you the difference in the puffiness of my face after 8 days without sugar! It’s been 2 weeks now- I have to admit I’m still battling my emotional attachment to sugar, but I haven’t given in at all!
Did you have any withdrawals and any symptoms like headaches, etc??? I'm about to cut out sugar in a few days 😰. I've been a chocoholic and sugar "addict" my whole life.
This is great stuff. I was eating a lot of snacks and refined sugars. In June I cut out the 2 candy bars a day and sugary snacks. Everything you mentioned in this video has happened to me. I am down 25 lbs, down 4 inches on my waist. My back feels better, no longer taking 4 Advil a night at work for backaches from inflammation. I feel great. Intermittent fast easily. Thank you for this.
@@bettielubbe1825 Bananas do have a lot of sugar, but try eating them when they are more green and not completely yellow, as at this early stage they do not have as much sugar. (This is according to Dr Guidry). Another point in favor of bananas is that they give us balanced magnesium and especially potassium. It is hard to get a good balance of these two nutrients from natural sources, so bananas are helpful to the body in that way. I will add that according to some nutritionists bananas should be eaten on their own, not combined with other fruits, or baked into breads and muffins. If you mash the banana and stir it vigorously into a glass of water and drink it, it has a very nourishing effect.
Started this and the change is very real. Doctor wanted me to come back in two weeks after giving me grief about my weight. The look on the nurses face realizing in a couple weeks I dropped 25 pounds was priceless. Now to see what happens after the initial loss month after month. Good luck to all.
@@mihajlo7817 No. He said you can eat them but limited them. And if you do, it should be with breakfast and maybe a banana with lunch for the potassium for fuel. I've used coconut water and almonds at lunch for a power boost when I can't have time for lunch.
I stopped all proccesed sugar in January. Three months of eating of eating once a day I lost 20 Kg. Never felt better never slept better and have way more energy than I can remember

I am dealing with fatigue, bad skin, my face is puffy af, I'm bloated, always tired, I feel stiff and just not as limber and I KNOW it's bcuz I'm addicted to sugar. I'm like a drug addict with heroin when it comes to sugar. I'm sooooo ready to stop eating sugar, I'm so glad I found this video!!!! Perfect timing. UPDATE: This comment was NOT meant for advice!!! I was simply showing appreciation to the video creator by letting him know how his content relates to my life. Thank you but I know what I need to do and how I need to do it! I’ve been sugarless for 6 days now-no fasting, no substitutions-I’m doing what’s best for me and my lifestyle.
This video saved my quality of life. I felt so heavy and bogged down. I weighed 240 two weeks ago. Now I weigh 212 and all ready fit into my old jacket. I barely eat sugars and carbs now, and I eat a ton of veggies and grilled meats. I drink probably a gallon of water now daily easy. Quitting sugar & carbs improved the way EVERYTHING tastes! I love water now. Veggietables taste amazing now, better than they ever have. I can jump and burst into a sprint without a second thought again. I truely feel amazing. Thank you so much for the information!
I always wondered why I never lost my chubby cheeks. After taking out sugar off my diet my face is now more refined & i"m very surprised to see my tummy fat vanish. I feel more lighter, energetic & younger. I have been following your advice to a great extent. You are the best Dr. with precision and accurate info. 👍🏻
@@Drberg Are you speaking of just cane sugar, or all kinds of sugar in this video? If not just cane sugar, can you give a list of everything that would need to be quit in order to eat truly no sugar?
It's December 31, 2023 and I'm eating the last of the Christmas candy while watching this to psyche up for my "No Sugar," New Year's resolution. This is a great motivational talk! Thank you so much Dr. Berg!
I’ve cut off sugar and carbs for the most part and I’ve definitely noticed improvements on every single thing listed on here. Between changing my diet, exercising and taking vitamins and also being very determined and having faith I’ve lost over 200 pounds since March of 2022. Discovering this channel has played a huge role in my weight loss journey.
Way to go!! Wonderful job! I’ve quit eating most , 90% of carbs and sugar. I started January 1 of 23. Lost 25 lbs . I’ve always been dyslexic. Sounds far fetched but I can read like normal. My brain changed. I was always embarrassed to read in front of people since I was in 1st grade. Not anymore. I never want to return to my old way of eating. It’s still kinda difficult.
Cutting-out all forms of sugar changed my life completely. It's insane how this molecule can cause so much damage in the body to the point where people think being sick is normal. I'll never go back to eating sugar.
@@rajendraawasthi7123 It is fructose sugar I think it is fine to consume. But note fruit that is juiced contains alot of fructose sugar. For example eating a whole apple takes time drinking the same apple in juice form is fast so you can get more fructose sugar in from juicing than you.
What a fantastic video! I am currently on Whole30, which allows for no added sugar, no refined carbs, no processed food, and no dairy. I am one week in and my skin is starting to clear up, and has a glow. I have done Whole30 for a month in the past, but slowly started back eating junk food and lots of sugars. This time around, I am becoming more aware of the many recipes I can make, as well as healthy desserts! This video is good motivation to never go back to eating sugar and processed junk. There are too many health benefits for cutting out the unnecessary sugar in our lives. Thanks.
I gave up all PROCESSED sugar four years ago, and lost about 30 lbs, 140 to 110 (I'm 5'8"). I still eat healthy food with natural occurring sugar as in fruits and vegtables, and stay cognizant of carbs. I just don't overdue it. It does make you look younger if that's what you're after. I get tired of hearing from overweight people, "you're so skinny".
@@DannaK247 Seriously how rude of U? Are U overweight? Interesting because If you were thin skinny or light weight I'm sure you'd get sick of hearing it too heck I know I'm sick of it especially from my own family. Hmm think of it, maybe not just the overweight people say it but I bet the percentages that do say it outweigh the lower weight folks. Don't hate, educate yourself especially with Dr Berg and like this video states you'll be so much more nicer and pleasant to be around
Yes its the processed food thatbis the problem. We have got to stop lumping fruit and processed sugar together. I eat about 500 grams of "sugar" from fruit every day. I would be in a diabetic coma if I ate 500 grams of processed sugar every day.
I want to add that giving up sugar takes a massive commitment and initially the body craves sugar so much that you will need to be very determined and focused on your longer term goals and be able to not cave in. I have friends who say they tried it but it made them feel terrible. However it takes a while and they didn’t give it long enough. Great video for those who have tried other things and have now hit rock bottom.....that was me
Yes! It's hard! It takes commitment, emotional strength, cooking more, careful shopping, and other things. And the cravings don't go away in 3 days. Maybe that's the experience for some people, but not me, and I'm sure for many others. I've read several places that it takes a week to start feeling better. It was a week for me until the intense cravings and bad moods stopped, and then after 2 weeks I finally had very little craving for sugar plus my health felt better. Every person is different.
Specific nutrients have been identified to eliminate sugar cravings. Glutamine and omega 3s. In my opinion, both these nutrients are crucial because it comes with other nutrients in natural foods that the body requires. They are in real foods. Not processed foods, and not supplements. One is a essential fat, the other isn't essential but foods with that amino acid typically contain lots of nutrients that are essential.
Yeah, sugar is one of those things that you should not cut out cold turkey or you’ll get terrible headaches. But I did his first cut out consuming sugary drinks and desserts. Once your body acclimate to that, then you can water fast or keto diet. Otherwise you’ll be miserable.
I did this in November. I went from 203lb to 180lb. Life changing. The weight has stayed off. I feel great. I’m now fasting as well, bc I don’t crave. Thanks Doc!
I've watched your channel for years and you've hammered this point home. I've been resisted but final cut the sugar and carbs going on three weeks. The biggest difference I've noticed is less hunger. It's 9 pm, and I've only had a small meal at 230pm. I haven't needed my mid day naps either. I didn't realize until watching your video that I've been sleeping through the night without going to the bathroom; I didn't know there was a connection. Thanks doc!
What sort of meals do you eat? I have tried no sugar multiple times and I end up with really severe carb cravings that get worse and worse. Even 10 days later it wouldn't take much to convince me to have a plate of chips 😬
@@adammudd Adam, I’ve gotten into making my own beef and chicken bone broth - coincidentally, I’m about to make some more beef broth this morning. When you drink it, it nourishes you very deeply and seems to put vitamins, minerals and amino acids in you to allay your cravings. It moistens your body, so to speak, and your alimentary system moves better, eliminating toxins and then discharging all the gunk…I hope this helps you and all who read…bless you ☺️
Thanks a ton for putting this out there dr. It's been three years since I removed refined sugar from my diet and I've experienced all the benefits you've listed in this video. It's as if 90% of my health problems vanished!

Sugar is the likely the biggest reason for illness and chronic disease in our lifetime. Thanks Doc for always reminding us (your followers) what the real dietary culprit of today is
Not really. The secret is vegetable oil (poly-unsaturated). It's truly a toxic waste product of collaboration between pharmaceutical, investors and elite politician back in the '80. Before the invention of veggies oils USA hardly ever have cancer, Alzheimer, and (diabetes is never heard of). Kaiser hospital is 2 hr drive but now Kaiser is almost as much as 7/11. My family didn't get fool by the US government big hype "alternative healthy fat" in the '90 during Democrat-Clinton's administration, especially knowingly how native Indians got treated in this country. We always cook with pork fat, butter, coconut oil and we're almost near retirement now with no health issue. I'm 55 and my cardio is equivalence to teenager. Life is good as long as you create your own path and never to follow the heard...As for sugar, it has been around the world since stone-ages. Don't forget sugar is just as good as gold back in the old day and no one every die from it. Vegetable oil, however, only begun 30+yr ago and now the whole country is collapsing from overweight.
now I stopped sugar, I realize every foods around us having sugar, my children and our younger generation kids in the family, have so much sugar intake day in and day out. Trying to educate them to cut back on sugar is such a mission including sharing your videos , Thank you Doctor Berg
It's so true, once you stop eating it and you go to the supermarket, you realize that sooo many things have sugars! I often have this feeling in restaurants too...
Two weeks today with zero sugar and doing one meal a day. This is a life changer for me, I’ve totally changed the way I look at foods with sugar. I quit all soda drinks back in 08, as of right now I think I will do the same for sugar.
Do you feel any new cavities on tooth. When i cut sugar for 1 week i got sudden cavities in my tooth hurting much severe. I don't know why. Doctors say sugar is the culprit, but I was addicted to sugar. Now I stopped just to have a try. But it adversely affected me.

People who need to lose a lot of weight need to really take this guy's advice to heart. 3 months ago I weighed 318 lbs. I was tired all the time, lethargic, and didn't feel like doing anything at all except watch tv. I decided to lose at least 100 lbs and all I did was STOP EATING SUGAR. No pasta, no rice, no bread, no potatoes, no pizza, no doughnuts or pastries or cookies or cake or ice cream, you name it, I stopped eating it. And I gave up soda cold turkey. I've been eating only MEAT and drinking only WATER or unsweetened ice tea and I've lost nearly 50 lbs. I noticed everything he talks about. First my face and neck got thinner, then my waist (I can now wear pants I couldn't wear for the last 5 years). I feel more energetic and I'm getting a lot more done around the house and basically enjoying life again! I will continue this until I reach 200 lbs which I feel will be an ideal weight for me as I am 6' tall. I will never go back to the SAD that got me and most of us into this mess over the last 50 years. Its gonna be low to no carbs for me from now on. Thing is, I love bacon, steak, prime rib, ribs, hamburgers, pork chops, eggs and cheese so giving up sugar was easy. Don't be afraid to give it a try. You will spend a few days on the crapper as your body makes the switch from using sugar to using fat as fuel, but it passes after a few days and you'll be right as rain. Best of luck.
Awesome, but you need to add in vegetables! What you are describing is basically the Atkins diet. Many vegetables are full of protein. They also provide fiber and water and many other vitamins and nutrients.
I went very low carb, cutting out sugar in Jan 2022. I do intermittent fasting (18:6) most days. Dr. Berg is absolutely right about the cravings. Even when I get to my eating window at 7 AM, I am not hungry and could easily keep fasting.
This guy is the greatest. What I love is that it’s a choice you gotta choose, this is something I live by. CHOICES. I only wish I’d found Eric Berg sooner. You are a true patron of humanity.

Thank you Dr Berg, I cut out sugar totally a few months ago and I am a living proof of what you said on this video. My ophthalmologist said that they cannot believe that my eyesight has improved, she said that this is the first time she came across a person whose vision has significantly improved with time, and they have been seeing me for a while. I have lost 2,5 stone and I am feeling great! Thank you so much for revealing how much goodness I have done to my body! Thank you!
Hi Mia, congratulations so happy for you hun. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? (asking this in regards to the eyesight part of your comment)
I cut out sugar completely for 8 months and you are absolutely right, I lost weight easily and my skin/mood instantly improved- fully recommend it. However it didn't take 3 days, it took weeks (if not months) for the sugar cravings to stop and the reasults to show.
It's the same for me. Two years ago I decided to stop eating sugar and sweets. It was difficult but after a few weeks, it was ok. I thought I found the way to get rid of my sugar addiction. Sadly, a few months later, the cravings slowly came back, and now I'm back where I started. That's been the case my whole life: perfect for a while, but then I fall back to old habits. After so many efforts, in my mind I have given up, sad but the truth.
It is natural to crave sugar as your body does need it in small doses. Just like it needs trans fats and sodium and other things we worry about. But in small amounts. Fully cutting out sugar is about as healthy as fully cutting out protein. Your body needs some form of them both. Best not to listen to a guy on youtube and talk to your doctors instead.
Proud of you. Sodas also can destroy your bones. I've seen people drink nothing but soda with their meals. Our young children are drinking way to much sodas.
I dropped 60 lbs a few years ago like it was nothing - went from 213 to 153. Half my friends were bugging me to find out what fad diet I was on. The other half thought I had some illness like cancer since I had dropped 60 lbs in a matter of months like it was nothing. I mean the weight poured off me like water. I kept telling them that all I did was cut almost all the sugar out of my diet and no one wanted to believe me. I told them that there's so much sugar in daily stuff that they're not even aware of. I mean, I would go shopping for diet meals back then like lean cuisine or weight watchers only to see on the ingredients that some of them had upwards of 15-20 grams of sugar! That's not a diet meal! It's insane how much added sugar there is in everything. The first two weeks were the worst. I would get these crazed hunger attacks...like I'd eat and a half hour later my stomach would growl and I'd feel like I was gonna pass out. But I realized that the sugar was a drug and I was going through withdrawal. What's amazing is that once I made it past the two weeks, all of a sudden, ANY sugar was too much for me. Whereas in the past I could eat a whole candy bar, now I'd break off one square from a hershey bar and I'm fine. Any more than that and I want to gag because it's too much sugar. Sodas? Same thing - I gag just putting them in my mouth. Once you get past the sugar cravings and come out the other end the rest is easy because once you get over the sugar, you lose your taste for it because the amount they put in daily foods and drinks is so much that the smallest taste and you gag.
Wow, that's incredible. I knew most of what you said, but the view test it's a drug is a useful one, and if fully agree with it as I suspect our so-called lesdersvate in reality our ultimate enemy and taking every opportunity to wage war on humanity. Thanks, friend and all the best. Peace. J Australian
My experience is much the same. First two weeks were really tough. But now? I can taste the sugar in natural greek yogurt! Before, it tasted so bland. Not anymore!
This is all so true. I was a hot mess, pre-diabetic and very overweight, when I cut out sugar and wheat/grains almost five months ago. Wow, what a difference it made in a very short time. If you are thinking about doing this, I strongly encourage you to do it.

@@meyokkob458 The key is not to cut back, but to cut sugar OUT for a while. This forces your body to re-structure its energy usage from carbs to fat. I won't sugarcoat it (harhar!), it's tough for a week. You'll likely go through mild flu-like symptoms. But once you get fat-adapted, you'll naturally stop craving sugary things, around the 7 to 10 day mark. This, BTW, is a conservative estimate. Many experience their sugar cravings disappear sooner. @@Sparklewithspoorthi hi, I am still on this great effort but I have to say it's worth it, I have been doing this since October 12th and I have lost 5 kgs and just feel less swollen all over my body, my big bloated belly has gone and my neck is so much thinner too, don't give up. I have to say here my motivation to cut the sugar is that diabetes runs in my family with my gran dying at the age of 52 from kidney problems and other relatives affected by diabetes as well. I don't think I would go so hard at this right now if that wasn't part of my family history.

Edit since people don’t know the difference. Sugar has refined sugar that is MUCH more unhealthy than honey. I didn’t think I’d have to put “I stopped eating refined sugar” but I guess I do since there are so many dense know it alls in the comments.

Did you have to stop eating fruits or did you just give up processed sugar?
Do you have a page? Or any videos of what you eat? I'm just thinking 🤔 would your diet just be plant based? Sorry for the ingnorance.

Excerpts:
What would happen if you gave up sugar for just two weeks.
1. Changes in your face and midsection
Your face would become slimmer, and you would lose weight in your midsection because your liver is releasing fat.
2. Improvements in your eyes, brain, arteries, and kidneys
You'll experience a lot of benefits and potential improvements in these four areas of the body when you cut out sugar.
3. Decreased urination at night
You'll get up less at night to urinate because water follows sugar. Consuming sugar triggers urination, especially at night.
4. More energy
Your body is forced to run on fat fuel instead of sugar fuel. Your body has more calories from stored fat to use as fuel, giving you more energy.
5. Cravings between meals go away
Your cravings and appetite will go away between meals because even though you're not eating, your body is satisfied by your own fat.
6. Less stiffness, pain, and inflammation
These issues can start to improve when you stop consuming sugar, and you may notice less of a need for certain medications.
7. Weight loss
You're going to lose water weight as well as actual fat. Many different health benefits also come with losing weight.
8. Better skin
You may notice improvements in your skin because of a drop in inflammation.
9. Improves insulin resistance
Insulin resistance is at the heart of many health conditions. But, when you give up sugar, you can start to improve insulin resistance.

I am lucky this video was suggested to me by TH-cam. This video changed my life and I can’t thank Eric Berg enough for making this video.
I stopped eating sugar on January 3rd 2019. i went from 189 Lbs to 155Lbs. i`m still there to this day. I intermittent fast 4 days a week and I limit my carbs to around 50 to 75 a day. I used to be on 30 total carbs in 2019. My bloodwork is perfect. My doctor is can`t believe how great my bloodwork is! He says my good cholesterol is so high it destroys my bad cholesterol . I stopped eating sugar on February 15th of this year. I’m down 67 pounds as of today. It’s very true that your face will start to lose its puffiness. I noticed that my mood has improved, I feel more level headed and focused. I cut way down on carbs too. I’m so proud of myself! I spent so much time in and out of gyms but I was working out just so I could eat whatever I wanted to. This time around, I thought it was more important for me to fix my diet.

Thanks.
I desire to do the lifestyle that you're doing.
Just overweight people say this to you? Interesting.. how rude!
I also hear from people bigger than me "you can't starve yourself (intermittent fasting). You can't lose weight like that". I've lost 19 lbs so far
I’m told, “You need to gain weight.” I’m on keto to be healthy, not to lose weight. I am 66 and on no meds. It works.

That transition phase is where fat bombs are helpful.
agree 100 %

Pour some coca cola on your car battery terminals and watch what happens. You will NEVER drink a coke again after I'm sure...
Yeah if you put a old dirty penny in to some Coca-Cola it will come out like new
If Coca-Cola cleans dirty metal who really knows what it's doing to your insides ? ? ? That's why I don't drink it.
@@luckyfisher7240 I remember doing this years ago. People don't realize how bad carbonated drinks are for you.
@Lillian Maya shut up.
great story and excellent work!
Wow, that's incredible. I knew most of what you said, but the view test it's a drug is a useful one, and if fully agree with it as I suspect our so-called lesdersvate in reality our ultimate enemy and taking every opportunity to wage war on humanity.
Thanks, friend and all the best.
Peace.

My experience is much the same. First two weeks were really tough. But now? I can taste the sugar in natural greek yogurt! Before, it tasted so bland. Not anymore!
question, by cutting sugar do you still eat fruit?
This is all so true. I was a hot mess, pre-diabetic and very overweight, when I cut out sugar and wheat/grains almost five months ago. Wow, what a difference it made in a very short time. If you are thinking about doing this, I strongly encourage you to do it.
Thank you for sharing this, I am chubby ( 207lbs) and I'm 5'5. My sons are chubby too and I want to listen and Save our lives from T-2 and everything else that comes with unhealthy eating habits. It’s so hard to cut back on sugar
You can do this, give it a shot!
@@meyokkob458 yes it's hard in the beginning but it's worth to do for a good health and a better life! my son was 250 pounds
last year he cuts all carbs and sugar for almost one year since then, now he weights 160 pounds, he still keeps his diet, he only eats poultry, meat, fishes, egg vegetables and drinks water. Just wanted to encourager you.
So, what do you eat? Please give a example of a day's diet.
Best Decision of my life. Feel better, think better and I'm only 22.
Keep up the good work!
This man's teaching basically changed my life.Through fasting , I was able to go from 95kg to 78kg ..........Thank you Dr. Berg

My first step in quitting sugar was that I stopped adding sugar to my coffee. I hated it for the first two days, but then I noticed that coffee started to taste way better! And since I started drinking coffee without sugar, my taste changed - I never feel like eating sweets or cake, and I used to love them.
I will definitely try doing this.
So true. It is a habit we get used to. Well done you.
@@YemisiA It's a really interesting experiment. It had never occured to me before that sugar distorts the true taste of coffee!
Funny a few days without sugar, and I no longer crave sugar-it doesn’t even LOOK like food anymore. ❤🎃thumbs up to you Dr. B
@@jillnelson8746 For me it was about 3 - 4 days and cravings were all but gone . When you start eating healthy, your tastes change . Anything with sugar in it is too sweet for me now which makes it easier to stay away from . Learn to read labels. Most of the sugar is hidden in foods that aren't even sweet.
I stopped eating sugar 1 year and 4 months ago and I’ve never gone back. I was in chronic pain and took max doses of oxycodone for over 10 years. I always felt awful and I covered it up with opioids. When my doctor told me I was pre-diabetic and wanted to put me on meds I decided to change my diet. I had no idea that quitting sugar iwould affect me like it has. I lost 50 lbs, I look and feel 20 years younger, I’m no longer pre-diabetic, no brain fog, I am so happy I went on this journey. I don’t take pain medication at all and I have no pain! Thank you Dr Berg.
I have been sugar free for 2 weeks and you have just convinced me to go another 2 weeks because I have experienced every single benefit you described. It's revolutionary for my health. Why didn't I do this before?
Amazing. Thanks for sharing your experience here. Stay safe.
Hi I started 4 days back and lost 1kg( obviously water weight)
Did you see any weight loss? In 17days? How many kgs?
@@Sparklewithspoorthi hi, I am still on this great effort but I have to say it's worth it, I have been doing this since October 12th and I have lost 5 kgs and just feel less swollen all over my body, my big bloated belly has gone and my neck is so much thinner too, don't give up. I have to say here my motivation to cut the sugar is that diabetes runs in my family with my gran dying at the age of 52 from kidney problems and other relatives affected by diabetes as well. I don't think I would go so hard at this right now if that wasn't part of my family history. Cutting sugar is very difficult socially as I am finding out because it's so cultural to eat lots of sugar for so many occasions, Halloween, birthdays, work meetings, etc.
@@Drbergthanks for this video, it's so informative I have shared it with family because it's a real eye opener. Could you do a video on the mental health benefits because I find this is really important. The first few days reducing sugar are madness but then everything calms down.
@ more power to you ❤️
Thanks for replying
I am on day 8 and I can see some benefits too 😊😊
Going on vacation in on Nov 19
I am so worried I will go off track🥲🥲🥲🥲
The biggest benefit from not eating sugar that I noticed was no joint pain from inflammation. I have experienced the other positives from it, but I definitely pass on my experience to others. I'm in my 50's...
I am 70, with the usual aches and such, so going forward to remove all sugar starting right now.
lets see how it goes.
I still walk 5 miles a day, with a resting heart rate about 58 bps.
but da knees, boss, da knees!
Respect for u
@@jobob47 Thanks for the reply. Sounds like you are on the right track. It wasn't overnight that I felt the difference, just rolled out of bed one morning and something was different, for the better. I was a distance runner in my youth and had a patella cracked and cartilage damage in a 2010 auto accident. So I get the knees... mine are doing great. I"m 5'11 and dropped to 160 lbs as well, from my much improved diet. Aside from sugar, I avoid processed foods as much as possible. I'm also in a profession for 30 years that keeps me active and very wary of arthritis. Dr. Berg has discussed diet extensively- I eat eggs, simple meats, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and some cheese. I've never smoked, left drinking behind before I graduated college, and don't take any sort of drugs. Perhaps I'll be able to walk 5 miles a day when I'm 70.
I stopped sugar a year ago, everything improved… BP, Cholesterol numbers, Liver, weight, energy. pain. I have a great integrative physician who is saving my life but Dr Berg is my favorite social media doctor. Thank you for all the additional background information and helping us understand the benefits of being aware of what we are putting in our bodies and what we should not.
what's your food like
I wonder which sugar is this, is it table sugar or
Hello Lynette, how are you doing?
I don't believe yah. Because every food contains sugar. Don't know which food you're considering 🤔
You most likely quit table sugar… most foods and fruits have natural sugar
I am 75, and I am the only one in both sides of my family that contributed genes to me that has not developed diabetes. I’m very happy about that. I love your videos. Blessings
Dr. Berg says diabetes isn't genetic. It's lifestyle.

I came to this video after I ate a large italian tiramisu cake, meant for 6-8 people, by myself yesterday. I didn't even feel physically or mentally bad, like other addictions whether it be alcohol or drugs, the body will in time require more and more to get that "fix". I am at the easily devouring a 6-8 person cake stage.
I’m in the early stGes of getting of carbs and sugar and using fats helps. A lot. Fatty meat and cooking with it.
I've recently finished my "30 days without sugar" challenge, which was mostly inspired by this video. The progress is insane.
