Idk why I love this episode so much. Most of the time popular TH-cam don't feel so genuine but Mat and Steph just feel like that's really them.
08:35 The moment they said No.2 tasted like cough syrup, I knew it was the glass bottle coke.
Coke was originally created as a form of medicine back in the days, and thus, it wouldn't taste very good - unless you happen to be one of the ones that like that sort of thing.
They said earlier that the glass bottle coke creator hadn't changed their recipe since they started 100 years ago, that means it would still taste more like some kind of medicine than actual soda.
I was thinking the same thing esp. since original soda was seen as more of a ' health tonic'

Late to the party here, but at the start of this video my 1st thought was "I wonder if they'll take co-packing into account" and there, at the end, they did. It would be interesting if they compared processing/packaging. I live in Maine, where B&M Baked Beans ruled until the brand was bought out. Now the product is a pale shadow of what it was (runnier, slightly undercooked, sweeter). Anyone in the know knows to look for the few remaining cans made in Maine and to avoid those from NJ.

It just double take, sometimes when you taste something and then change to something else the flavor can be bad, so you sample it again to see if it was just the difference in product or it just tastes that bad.
The reason why some food or even sweets taste so awful after you brush your teeth. Like when you drink Orange juice a few minutes after brushing your teeth in the morning.

05:01 From the "This one is slightly sweeter" I could accurately tell that the middle one was bottled Diet Coke, the left (right for them) was can, and the "slightly sweeter" was the Dispenser Diet Coke.
Dispenser soda is a mixture between carbonated water and soda syrup, syrup has a more sweeter taste to it, especially if the mixing isn't as watered out as I am used to.
Bottled coke fizzes a lot, so that middle glass being the bottled coke was a no brainer.
Then that only left the canned coke.

I've been all over. So my family really never had a singular word for all carbonated drinks. Sometimes we call it soda, usually if it's a non-cola, sometimes it's pop, but usually we just name the product.

True...though to be fair, the soda itself wasn't intended to taste fruity. It's not on the label or anything.
I mean, it wasnt fruity enough to be a fruity flavored soda. It just has a hint of citric acid, which is enough to give it a fruity flavor.
This is like adding a few drops of lemon juice into a dressing. That dressing isnt suddenly a fruity flavored dressing, but it will taste very different even though the drops are negligable to the total volume. Citric acid is a taste enhancer in the same way that salt and sugar are. You need very little to change a lot of the taste.

For years I've sworn that there's a noticeable difference between the same kind of soda in a can vs. a bottle and nobody ever believed me. I feel vindicated.

I think I prefer glass bottles over cans.
I was a food broker for many national brands. Many store brands are produced by the National Brands. some are exact replicas of the National brand and others are slightly different. All Frozen Chicken at Walmart and Sam’s Clubs are Tyson exact match’s, however Nestle Ice Cream makers of Haagen Daz will make private label brands but none will ever be an exact match for their Premium Brand formula.

Examples: I have quit, I had quit and I will quit are examples of past, present, and future tense uses of the word quit. Quitted is not a word it's considered improper grammar for the most part; it's similar to how fish is singular and plural when talking about a single type of fish and the adjective before the word fish determines its quantity. The word fishes as a noun is not the plural of fish it's only plural when used to describe 2 or more types of fish.
