I’m 56 yo and just had an appointment to determine my breast cancer risk due to my family history. They told me my life time risk is 25%. Then she said oh you breastfed for a total of 98 months, that cuts your risk in half. So yes, breastfeeding can definitely change your breast cancer risk.
I dooooo wanna say that it can be okay for breastfeeding to hurt for the first two weeks and it doesn’t mean you have to chase down answers when your nipples are just adjusting and baby is learning! I needed to hear that myself when I was pp. now 6 months into an amazing breastfeeding relationship
100% ❤ I just had my third baby and it ALWAYS hurts for the first 2 weeks for me, nothing is wrong tho! I was CONSUMED with “fixing” it and it almost cost me my breastfeeding journey with my first baby! Thank god I persevered and it got better and easier!
Yes, same! I was told it shouldn’t hurt so I couldn’t understand why it did, but for first baby for first time I think it will definitely hurt. It should lessen, but it does hurt.
Thank you for acknowledging this!! For me, even the pump at a very low setting hurts. Some people just have more sensitive nipples and breastfeeding hurts.
"God picked you for this baby, and this baby for you" .... thank you sis!!! I am now 5 months pregnant and i still have no idea how to become a mother and care for a newborn child! i was so anxious finding out i was pregnant because i live in a different country without my mom (that she could be a big help). now i'm so at ease and in peace, learning to trust the Lord's process.
I didn’t have my mom either when I had my first. The moms on call baby 0-6 month book helped me so much. On how to care for a baby. It’s an easy read. I highly recommend it.
I'm pregnant with my first baby and am so grateful I came across your video. I have been approaching this journey with a minimalist mindset but have almost gotten sucked down the "do/buy what everyone else is doing/buying" trap with baby essentials. Thanks for re-grounding me
Love this video! All I purchased for my second baby was a stroller, safetybarriers for bed, some clothing and swaddles, a lounger and a sling. No crib, no bouncer, no bottles or binkies, etc. And I am not even a real minimalist yet, I just know, that babies do not need all that stuff. And yes, the most essential things for a new mother are rest, sleep and help.
I’m due this Fall with my 7th. I have been working towards minimalism the last few years, and my pregnancy and postpartum with #6 was my most amazing and relaxed and I think a large part of it was having SO much less to take care of. “The luxury of less” is so true. 🙌🏼 Blessings to you as you wait for your sweet babe. Thanks for all of the encouragement you share. I just love love your videos and look forward to each one! ❤
We have a TINY house so i was forced to go more minimalistic. I'm so glad!! I think if it hadnt been for that i would have bought way too many things that never got used. One thing i do adore has been dressing my little man in Wrangler attire from about 3 months +. Only because his daddy wears the same thing and it's adorable for them to match 😍
me too! i live in one bedroom aprtment, i am now at 5 months pregnant and still have no idea how to manage my home to welcome the baby. could you please advice or make a list of what we really need for a baby boy?
Satin crib and bassinet sheets, like 3 wash cloths, a soother, bottles and breastmilk bags, a good pump, a small variety of outfits for the seasons if you live with seasons, car seat, stroller with tire wheels, friends who bring meals
I didn’t discover you until after I had my first baby, but I wish I had seen this video back then. It would’ve saved sooooo much money (and the guilt of getting rid of baby shower gifts I never used/needed). I will say that burp cloths were ESSENTIAL for me because my baby spit up constantly. I used cloth diaper inserts as burp rags and went through what felt like a million a day. Everyone’s list of must haves may be vastly different, but thank you for shining a light on how simple it can be! Also, I love the clip-on red light idea. That would have been a game changer for middle of the nights with a newborn!
Thanks for this video! I honestly felt exactly the same. It was the support network that was essential and not all the gadgets. I suffered immensely because we had a weak system of friends. I took on the entire load and eventually my health (on all levels) caved. I’m finally on the mend but I protect my health above all now!!
Baby doesn’t need much but you might especially if you’re a single mom. Don’t be so fixated on minimalism and not get something to make your life easier. First year is brutal for FTM especially if your baby has reflux, colic etc. Good luck mommas!
I love how you talk about not baby wearing. Everyone talks about how much you NEED to. I love baby wearing when I need to. Out and about. But my back always hurts and my pelvic floor also sucked after my second that holding a child in general was difficult. I love just having my babies on the ground playing with the surroundings. And holding and feeding them on a couch. It’s just so much better for us
This was a reality check for me that I might not be able to baby wear due to my pelvic floor issues! I’m glad to realise it now then to further hurt myself and being disappoint and feeling like a ‘failure’ 🙏🏻❤️✨
@@hannahgraham-devries8805 for sure. But also do it if you want too. I don’t care for that much but some people love it. So you might want to or “need” to if baby is more clingy. Do it if you want and if you hurt then stop and try to figure something else out.
Currently 5 months pregnant with our fourth baby, and have been simplifying our life for 7 years now, so im quite experienced in this department, but it was so exciting to share in your joy of preparing for your third, and hearing other's tips and perspectives is always so helpful, no matter how many babies a woman has had or hopes to have ❤
I was so excited about being minimalist with my baby.....and then I got given clothes and more and more and people bought gifts and now everything is a full house!! And I'm sure there is more to come!
Okay, I am typing this with my 6 week old baby lying in bed next to me (my third). I am what many consider to be a more natural mama but I LOVE my stroller. We walk everywhere we can so it makes so much sense to me. In fact after 6 weeks we have decided to get a 4 seater stroller wagon for when my five year old needs a break from walking. I love to snuggle and hold my baby, but unless we are hiking, baby wearing feels so cumbersome to me. I'd rather have baby next to me in a little Moses basket as a newborn or on a blanket when they are older. I think we use our Moses basket the way many people use a snuggle-me. My five year old still asks to have his nose "fridaed" though we usually say no these days. My three year old does not like it and it didn't seem to really work on him... Congrats on your baby coming soon and I am so proud of you for planning to take it easy and rest.
Yes sweet sleep and safe sleep 7, there is so much stigma around co sleeping, but not founded in statistics, the more research you do the more you realize that the "dangers" of co sleeping are rare and avoidable. Co sleeping and breastfeeding aka breastsleeping has been the best experience of motherhood for me so far. I love feeding my baby and sleeping next to her has been so healing. Love the tips on here I wish I would have watched this video a couple months before I gave birth lol
The nipple shield saved me the first couple weeks of breastfeeding with both babies, then I didn’t have to use it anymore. Loved this video, I’m pregnant with my third! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on co-sleeping too, I was curious about that. I had so much junk with my first baby, the things I realized I didn’t need most was all the toys, food gadgets, and multiples of everything. You really don’t need much, I love what you said, I am everything my baby needs! ❤️
Thank you for this. Our first baby will arrive around the time we move out of a huge two-level three bedroom home in town, and into a rural trailer surrounded by trees. Our storage space is going to massively decrease, and imagining buying and storing "all the things" was getting me feeling overwhelmed. Thank you for the reminder that what's REALLY needed is a relaxed and rested set of parents and presence over all. The rest is mostly fluff. Fluff that I can (hopefully) do without. I really valued the encouragement you gave that I can figure it out along the way and not have to freak out about having it all figured out in advance.
9 weeks along with Baby 3. Already I want to nest! I gave away most of my baby stuff and clothes even though I knew I wasn't done having kids because baby stuff is the easiest to acquire! The thing I did keep (besides stroller and carseat) is a Mickey Mika side sleeper. It's a little bassinet that attaches flush to the mattress. I sleep in the middle of our bed and cosleep, and I don't worry about the baby rolling off the bed! (Happened once with my oldest.) I can also scoot the baby into the bassinet when I want some space.
Thanks so much for this video! Ive followed you for a while and have been decluttering my home bit by bit already, but as a first time mum to be this is so reassuring! I want to take this calm minimalist approach, which is hard when every advert ever is an 'essential' baby item 🙈 thanks for your advice!
I have lots of burp clothes which were really needed but zero swaddles 🤷♀️ my baby was never swaddled. Also needed a breast bump because I have to go back to work. I didnt use a baby lounger but I did use a baby bouncer (to put the baby there while doing house chores, and my baby really loved). The only support I had was my husband, who cleaned and cooked every single day! No one else was around and hiring someone isn’t in most people’s budget. I also used an electric snot sucker(played music too😂) which worked perfectly. Goes to show that someone’s minimalist essentials are different than someone else’s essentials.
I can’t tell you how much I have been loving and appreciating your videos lately. I am not a mother, but I hope to be one day. I will watch any video you put out because it’s so inspiring and it’s changing the way I think!
I LOVE this video! Thank you for sharing. You are so encouraging. It's fun to hear what are essentials for everybody, and I appreciate you saying that every baby's need is different. I tried just doing swaddles as burp cloths for my second, but both of my kids have had tons of reflux and that never worked for us, so we had to use burp cloths.
I completely agree with you on everything you have said. There are definitely ways to keep cosleep safely and it sounds like you were very careful. I have some unsolicited information I want to share, but skip reading the rest of my comment if you’d rather not see what I wanted to mention. A few years ago when I first started teaching prenatal classes, I got my certifications for teaching a class on reducing the risks of SIDS and those dock a tot loungers were a huge fad back then. People kept buying them to use for babies to sleep on in the early days. The company is very dishonest and doesn’t care that people misuse their products. They were showing pictures of babies sleeping in the loungers and then in small print saying never to let baby sleep unsupervised in them because it’s not a sleep surface. Many babies lost their life with those loungers and the company still hasn’t recalled them because they just changed their warning slightly to not allow babies to sleep in them. I have so much more respect for boppy as a company because they recalled their loungers when babies started passing away in them. Dock a tot still uses sleeping baby pictures on their products 🤮 The number of babies that lost their lives in sleeping in loungers was at 25 three years ago. I don’t know what the up to date count is.
This is a wonderful video. There is something about you and your personality that just exudes calm. I also really enjoy your sense of humour. I also completely agree that the thing that a new mum needs most is the support of other women that can offer advice and suggestions on how to navigate motherhood. Thanks for another great video
I totally understand why you didn't want to use that baby carrier and why you had pain. Your son was in the wrong position in all the clips. Maybe the carrier was not the right one, but I'm sure in a good position it never looks like this. He was not supported enough and the carrier was too loose on your hips. Number one rule is to never wear baby forward facing, it's bad for their spine and if they get heavy we can only wear them on our backs (for our health). In Hungary we have consultants for carrying, just like the lactation consultants. It's worth to find one, or a consultant group because if you do it right you should not be in pain, especially in the first months. I say these with the best intentions. Also, if someone want to buy a carrier, has to be very cautious, because most carriers are a scam and are designed in a way that hurts baby's spine.
@@Mvrisol I'm not an expert, but it doesn't cause any damage. Of course it depends on your health how much time you can carry your baby in the carrier and what type of carrier is the best one for you. I've had a hard labour and an emergency C section and in the first few months I used a stretchy baby wrap carrier. After my baby could almost sit I switched to a soft structured carrier. Carrying properly should feel like your baby is still part of your body. I healed wonderfully. Of course rest and pelvic floor exercises were key.
Would love to also see what your other two kids „own“ (as in things to play with, clothes, etc.). I’m a young minimalist mom of three myself and always am very inspired by videos like this ❤ all the best to you! 🥰
Also! Love the store keeping the inventory for me! I really appreciate that sentiment. I'm in the healing phase and decluttering all the things. We've made huge progress, but I still get caught up with fomo more often than I would like. ...things going out of stock or being 'limited' trigger me something shocking 🙈 The things I resist buying I end up regret not getting and then I'll purchase something and afterwards think, I got that so it didn't go out of stock on me. I know it's a marketing tactic...why can't I breakthrough the barrier!? 😆
Snot sucker, both my babies hate it! But I love it! Pair it with some boogie saline mist and it’s great! I will say I have both the manual and electric snot sucker and the manual one is far superior, I feel like it gets way more than the electric ever does!
I nursed my babies 15 months, 12 months, and 12 months and two weeks. I bled from my nipples, I had sores, cried through some feedings, etc. . .but I kept on because it was important to me, so I struggle to understand women who give up on it, but I listen and learn from their journey. I was like you with pumping, so I didn't pump other than two times where I only got 2 oz anyway (with my first). As far as I know, breastfeeding babies helps fight breast cancer for up to 6 generations too. There are just so many pros for it! My first baby was the only one who liked to be swaddled! The other two liked their hands out. That little lounger co-sleeper is cute! I had bassinets attached to my bed. I have heard of the disposables you are using. I cloth diapered my first with a diaper service that closed down (this was 17 years ago). I don't have laundry machines and do everything wash related by hand. I do have cloth diapers I use sometimes but otherwise I use Honest diapers since they are plant based and break down faster (I also used Dyper that are bamboo and break down in 75 days but they leaked more). It is awesome how you don't really have your babies wear anything and have that climate ability!! I love that!! I don't buy much clothing wise, but because I do my wash by hand, sometimes I need a little extra in the newborn stage! That's the only one though. Baby wearing is fun! I only wore my last two but not exclusively. I find the pelvic floor thing you stated to be so interesting and makes sense. The snot sucker didn't exist yet for my first two babies. I used it about 3 times with my now 13 month old baby. . .so I feel like I wasted money (though it was easier than the old school blue bobber that they had for my first two in the hospital). I am keeping it for our hopeful fourth baby we want and we'll see...
Thanks for sharing Maddi. Coming from South Africa we have so many diverse cultures, I ended up asking our nanny what they bought for baby, so I only got the essentials. Love the way you embrace minimalism and slow living. You have been such an inspiration, we will be getting our back yard ready in spring for summer to enjoy and spend more time outdoors!
Honestly, love all of this. Especially the co sleeping. I had so much anxiety at bedtime with my first born because I knew i would get no sleep. But with my second born I learned to breastfeed lying down and got got a Dock A Tot and it was so enjoyable sleeping with my baby. I will definitely be co sleeping with any future babies.
wow, this must be THE BEST video about pregnancy and postpartum I have ever seen. We want to have a baby in one year, so we are preparing and informing ourselves already to adopt healthy habits and being ready when it is time. And while I was googleing and watching different things about all these topics, I came over some disturbing points of view. For examples there was a page saying that breast feading can be negative because "it will bond the mother so much to the baby, that she will have a harder time to go back to work." I am shook by our society. It is proven that it is very bad for your child if you give it away in a kindergarten before three years (but I don't judge mothers who HAVE to go back to work after a year. I just don't understand mothers who choose their career over their babys' well-being). But what I wanted to say is that your video is such a gem! I love everything about it. Having a baby is not about cute clothing for cute Instagram pics, and our body is not there for bouncing back or going to work as soon as possible. Everything is scientifically proven, but still, there are many people who ignore science and everything that is natural.
God bless you and this comment :) im pregnant for the first time and single, and its going to be hard but im going to do everything possible to have only one person be his emergency caregiver for when i do need income, just knowing that i will need to work at some point before my baby is three. It makes me feel so bad, so im looking at a singular family friend to be my nanny or babysitter, and going to avoid daycare at all costs. Ive heard the same about the three year trauma because the first 1000 days creates a person for the rest of their childhood and how they are for the rest of their lives. So daycare is an absolute no. But having a family member as an occasional nanny when necessary, is so important, that way they dont learn emotional regulation from other children, and they arent disturbed by being handed off to strangers. That way, with a trusted loved one, they are safe and (in my case) if you HAVE to have a partial income before theyre three, you are able to have some kind of peace of mind about minimal damages. Again bless you if you have any opinions about the nanny thing let me know! I have been doing ALL the research possible lol.
@halleyl2637 Wow, you are so amazing, really! Just for clarification, I don't judge any mother who has to go to work. I just don't like how society sometimes pretends that giving your baby away so soon into the hands of strangers is not a big deal. And also how mothers are pressured to go back to work (things are also very different in germany, I guess it is way harder for women in America if they don't have a partner who works and earns enough money). The time I wrote my comment, I was very emotional because that article I mentioned shocked me so much, and I wished I would have written it at another time. From how I understand your situation; you are going to work to secure a good life for your baby, and that is so amazing! Giving your baby to a nanny that you can trust and the baby can connect to is a very good solution, and I think your baby will grow up very well. From what I've learned (also with the help of a professional) I know that giving your baby to strangers who are babysitting many babies at the same time is harmful, because they can't be there for everyone at the same time and maybe they even treat them wrong. Also, there is no intimacy and not enough safety for your baby. With someone you trust and know, it is a totally different story. I am impressed that you found that solution. I can imagine that this solution will bring no harm to your baby. Instead, it will grow up very well (if that nanny is on the same page with raising you baby as you of course). You are really doing the best out of your situation, and I highly respect the effort and everything you do.
@halleyl2637 I hope you don't feel bad because you have to go to work so early. It's not like you want to. You have no other choice. It is not your fault. The problem is that society doesn't support mothers as much as it should and also that the father of your baby won't be (able to be) there to support you. I don't know your exact situation, but I am really sorry for you, and I don't mean it in a pitty kind of way, I'm actually having tears in my eyes writing this. You can be so proud of yourself. Not everyone can handle your situation, and not everyone makes the best of it. You are inspiring! You are already showing up for your baby and already giving it so much love by planning the best possible future for you two. And I wish you an overflow of love and support from the people around you so you and your child always feel safe and happy! I hope you can look in the mirror every day with pride and see what an amazing mother you are...
I breastfed my 5 babies for a total of 9 years so far (currently still feeding), I would like women to know that its not abnormal for it to hurt for a couple of weeks, It did for me all 5 times. I prefered to let my baby latch and feed however they did it naturally rather than pull them off and try for the perfect latch each time, so that meant a bit more pain for me. Definitely agree that catching the let down to save some milk in the freezer is the way to go (pumping sux). I would say, dont try to hold back the let down on the opposite side in any way (that resulted in supply issues for me with 1 bub).
We also practice safe bedsharing and love it! Thank you for sharing about this! Our baby is 10 months now and our story of the newborn days is incredibly similar to yours. I would love a whole video about how sleep has progressed for your older children, when and how you transitioned them to their own bed, etc. I know you only have one bedroom and I loved seeing that they have a floor bed in your room!
Ooohh my Madisun Just coming across your video for the first time and it is the most loving and caring minimalist baby essentials video I have watched Subscribed immediately Can't wait to try some of the things you mentioned Thanks for sharing Looking forward to more of your videos 🌺
We are using the exact same "nose sucker" since years and now my kids are older and think it's hilarious when we do need to use it 😂 Definitely a life saver! Currently pregnant with my 4th and loving your channel since a long time ❤ After watching your videos I always have the urge to go through our house and minimize.
Great tips, Madisun! A bit confused about the lounger, though. From the lounger’s website: Safety is #1. Your baby’s safety matters to us. Use your Infant Lounger to actively engage, play, and bond with your awake little one. The Snuggle Me is NOT a sleeping device, and should never be put in a bassinet or crib. As recommended by the AAP, NEVER leave your baby unsupervised in the lounger, and NEVER use your lounger as a sleep device. Snuggle Me Safety Don’ts: Don’t leave baby unsupervised. Don’t use the lounger as a place for your baby to sleep. Don’t use in a crib, bassinet or on a bed. Don’t place on high, elevated or uneven surfaces.
This is just my personal opinion, so take it or leave it, but I believe that the manufacturer had to give these guidelines for their products, to cover their own butts from getting sued by ignorant parents who don’t practice common sense when using the product. If you’re a smart, sensible parent, you’re not going to inappropriately use an item in a way that could potentially harm your baby. Again, this is just my own opinion.
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours and I loved it.! Love seeing videos like this. About the snot sucker, My son hated it also but I’m definitely keeping it around for this next child. which is due this November :)
Frida snot sucker was a MUST for both of my kids! It gets that gunk out so fast. My kids didn’t like it when they were tiny tiny but they got used to it and then as young toddlers they actually enjoyed it. It is what I buy for every baby shower I go to!
My biggest reason not to use disposible nappies is that each baby produces a ton in weight of dirty nappies, which is an environmental nightmare. I have loved cloth nappies for my two babies, and not found it any trouble washing them- I put them in a wet bag once wet, the bag and all goes into the machine, no smelly buckets or touching them again. Helps that we did elimination communication (worth looking up!) so neither of them dirtied a nappy from seven months old (they did wet them still) ☺️ Edit: the nappies we have are made of cotton terry towelling, and I used wool wraps over the top for waterproofing. The traditional method!
I plan on doing the same! Pregnant with my first, and decided a combo of elimination communion and cloth diapers were the way to go!! It’s encouraging to hear that it worked for you!
@@AlexiaMarielle That’s great to hear ☺️ I read a book called Nappy Free Baby when I was pregnant first time, and my husband had a good laugh at the whole idea, but he ate his words in the end 😉 also really helped make potty training a seamless step, and my children were out of nappies entirely at 2 and a quarter and 2 exactly, with ease. If you can get hold of an old pottery chamber pot, they’re great because they’re so sturdy. Purpose built for the job after all! Best of luck 🤍
@@hollyspeckle Thank you for the recommendation of the pot!! Thankfully my husband is on board, but he knew I was like this before he married me 🤣 I hope to get my babies out of diapers that soon too! Thank you for the encouragement!!
Would love a video about how you divide your energy between the new baby and your other two kids. Also now, during pregnancy, this can be quite challenging i suppose. Thanks for all the great tips (not pregnant now, but we're trying for our 2nd❤)
I get so excited when I see a blue dot next to your channel (new video from you!). Great advice. We fall for so much good marketing for products that make us think we need them - with everything, not just baby stuff.
5th baby on the way here (but 6th pregnancy and 6x preparing) and we never had many things, but this time i did get some things extra to make it easier or healthier. :)
I loved the Frida snot sucker I used that one with my very first baby it worked really well on her did not use it with my son but we did use a snot sucker and it is one of like the top things that I would have for my fourth baby
Thank you so so much Madi❤ I'm expecting a baby, my first and I've been abit overwhelmed by the crib and changing table to get but after this video I'm removing them both from my list. We're going to be co-sleeping because i want to breastfeed exclusively and i will get the changing mat too. Thank you so much❤
I love this so much. I got rid of so much after my second as she outgrew each stage as I was so overwhelmed by all the baby stuff. if we have a third I would be so mindful about the few items I bring into our home. Thanks again for thoughtful videos like this one!
Thanks so much for this!❤️ I have a small space and needed to go minimalistic for our first baby. Your video makes me feel so much more prepared knowing we have enough already. Are there any nursing bras you recommend? TYIA.❤️
Thank you for sharing you have helped me with deciding on what I actually NEED!!! I appreciate you so much. I do have a question what are you using in the floor? Is it a blanket? And where can I find it
Great video, my third baby had like nothing, lol. He sleeped on/with me all night. He did love being very close though so i wore him all the time but my first two could have cared less. A stroller was a must have and yes lots of swaddles. I was gifted a bouncer with our first and she loved it! My second just enjoyed being on his blanket in the kitchen with me with jist a toy or two. Babies are natural minimalists and than consumerism hits them when the birthday parties happen.
I so agree with all the sentiments here. It seems like we always try to complicate everything! I did not know about the red light. That was one problem we had for night changes. I would have basically a flash light and put it under a blanket and it was still too bright. Red light is genius! My current bedside lamp is a salt lamp with adjustable brightness. I love it for the calming vibes at night. It would also totally work now that I think about it, but no more little babes for me.
Loved this video! How do you plan on letting your other kids help with the baby? And Curious to know if you will be getting your other kids any gifts to help the transition? I’ve heard of this but maybe only for younger ones.
First I want to say I love your videos 🥰 and I am learning so much along side of you with my 3rd baby coming soon this fall and minimalist/slow living lifestyle as I’ve grown over the years💕☺️ On the note of the snot sucker: we love it but we remove the sponge “filter” and the red “cap” and it’s worked wonders…of course baby doesn’t necessarily like it much but it’s sooooo helpful. So I usually hold baby and hold their head still while my husband does the snot sucking and to be honest we have never had snot going all the way up the tube into the mouth but yeah it doesn’t work well with all those “attachments” so we do it pretty straight forward 😂 Also, in baby wearing, I like to let them snuggle me while breastfeeding or when I’m just holding them and if I have time to sit and enjoy while they nap on me that’s great, but I have two other kiddos and so it’s nice to just let baby sleep peacefully in a safe place without needing to be worn all the time. I only wear them when they are a bit older and maybe more fussy but most of the time it’s feeding, snuggling, and then back to having your own space to explore the world or sleep peacefully haha hope that helps and is encouraging to you! God bless you and I pray you have an amazing, easy, safe and joyful delivery 🙏☺️
Definitely found the snot sucker to be effective - but also a mental challenge :D I have heard that you can connect the "hose" to an automatic breast pump at a low level though! I love your list here. For my next baby I won't be baby wearing early on, but I am excited to use the Hippie Joey as a skin to skin wrap for all those newborn snuggles!
Let me tell you. I'm older and pregnant with baby #4, but it feels we're starting over. I needed to hear this. I'm my heart, I know we're good. We have what we need. But in my head, I find myself, in my nesting phase, wanting to buy more things. 🙃
Yessss to the snot sucker! My first- needed it, it worked wonders and he HATED it. My second- barely needed it and she laughs when I do. But I totally recommend!!!
Babywearing in a wrap was soo much better and easier on my body than the carrier. I really think you’ll love it. I highly recommend the WeeSprout wrap. (Solly is the popular “good” brand, but WeeSprout imo, is better)
Love love love your videos! I’m due 5th of august, feel that all your videos have perfect timing❤️ and can you link the mason jars you use? Thank you lovely✨

@@plamenapetrova9672 yes I breastfed all four of my children for about two years. So about eight years total.
I felt that pain for two months. My daughter is 2 and half years and I still breastfeed her 🤍
Yep took my body a month of pain before finally feeling normal 😅
You've got this ❤ Jesus is holding your hand and leading you every step of the way
I'm pregnant with my first baby and am so grateful I came across your video. I have been approaching this journey with a minimalist mindset but have almost gotten sucked down the "do/buy what everyone else is doing/buying" trap with baby essentials. Thanks for re-grounding me
So glad you resonated ❤️
Love this video! All I purchased for my second baby was a stroller, safetybarriers for bed, some clothing and swaddles, a lounger and a sling. No crib, no bouncer, no bottles or binkies, etc. And I am not even a real minimalist yet, I just know, that babies do not need all that stuff.
And yes, the most essential things for a new mother are rest, sleep and help.
YES 🙌🏽
So glad youre doing better now and prioritizing your health/care/well being now! Good things are coming! :)
Baby doesn’t need much but you might especially if you’re a single mom. Don’t be so fixated on minimalism and not get something to make your life easier. First year is brutal for FTM especially if your baby has reflux, colic etc. Good luck mommas!
This is the most beautiful, encouraging, video I’ve ever watched that’s so motivating and I’m a mom of 5 I absolutely love your outlook on everything!
I did feel that a Boppy was essential for breastfeeding because my arms were super tired after giving birth.
Finally the one video I actually find helpful for what is essential and what isn't! Thank you!!
Swaddles are so awesome because once they grow out of them you can sew them into little lounge sets or pj gowns for them 😊
Such a good video thank you! Definitely looking into the Hooga light
We love our vacuum connected snot sucker. Game. Changer. 🙈
Ho! This has been the simplest and most loving baby essentials yt video that I’ve watched, and ive seen a lot. I totally agree with everything.
Thanks so much for this video! Ive followed you for a while and have been decluttering my home bit by bit already, but as a first time mum to be this is so reassuring! I want to take this calm minimalist approach, which is hard when every advert ever is an 'essential' baby item 🙈 thanks for your advice!
You’ve got this ❤️
I have lots of burp clothes which were really needed but zero swaddles 🤷♀️ my baby was never swaddled.
My kids are 5 and 8. No more babies but just love your energy so I had to watch the video anyway 😂
Same! 😂 My daughter is 15 but I watch EVERY one of her videos and honestly wish I’d known all this as a first time mom. 😢
Due in 7 weeks with my second and really needed this video! Thank you ❤️
I completely agree with you on everything you have said.
The snot sucker was a life saver! Haha. I did end up switching to BBLuv because the silicone tip was much more pleasant for my daughter
Would you say that correct carrying actual supports pelvic floor healing? I love baby wearing! ❤
Yesss yes to all of this!
Snot sucker, both my babies hate it! But I love it! Pair it with some boogie saline mist and it’s great!
I will say I have both the manual and electric snot sucker and the manual one is far superior, I feel like it gets way more than the electric ever does!
I loved this, thank you so much, Madisun! My first baby is due mid August 💌
Super excited for this video!! Thank you for sharing your wisdom.
So sweet thank you Kayla.
Ooohh my Madisun
Just coming across your video for the first time and it is the most loving and caring minimalist baby essentials video I have watched
Subscribed immediately
Can't wait to try some of the things you mentioned
Thanks for sharing
Looking forward to more of your videos 🌺
We are using the exact same "nose sucker" since years and now my kids are older and think it's hilarious when we do need to use it 😂 Definitely a life saver! Currently pregnant with my 4th and loving your channel since a long time ❤ After watching your videos I always have the urge to go through our house and minimize.
Great tips, Madisun! A bit confused about the lounger, though. From the lounger’s website:
Safety is #1.
Snuggle Me Safety Don’ts:
Don’t leave baby unsupervised.
Such a refreshing and beautiful message. And amazing resources.🙏🏾Thank you so much. 💞💞💞
Love your list a lot! ❤ I do want to add one thing, that I think is essential: a carseat! Non negotiable :)
This was so beautifully articulated ❤😍🥰
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours and I loved it.! Love seeing videos like this. About the snot sucker, My son hated it also but I’m definitely keeping it around for this next child. which is due this November :)
Frida snot sucker was a MUST for both of my kids! It gets that gunk out so fast. My kids didn’t like it when they were tiny tiny but they got used to it and then as young toddlers they actually enjoyed it. It is what I buy for every baby shower I go to!
The NeilMed one is even better!!
This is an amazing video
My biggest reason not to use disposible nappies is that each baby produces a ton in weight of dirty nappies, which is an environmental nightmare. I have loved cloth nappies for my two babies, and not found it any trouble washing them- I put them in a wet bag once wet, the bag and all goes into the machine, no smelly buckets or touching them again. Helps that we did elimination communication (worth looking up!) so neither of them dirtied a nappy from seven months old (they did wet them still) ☺️
Edit: the nappies we have are made of cotton terry towelling, and I used wool wraps over the top for waterproofing.
We’ve used reusable napkins for years and naturally started using them as burp clothes as well once baby arrived.
So true!
Swing actually save me. I get to rest and take nap while Swing is swinging my baby. I got it for my 4th child as well.
Thank you so so much Madi❤ I'm expecting a baby, my first and I've been abit overwhelmed by the crib and changing table to get but after this video I'm removing them both from my list. We're going to be co-sleeping because i want to breastfeed exclusively and i will get the changing mat too. Thank you so much❤
YESSSS Mama! Yes to this all. So much love to you and fam during this next chapter!
I love this so much. I got rid of so much after my second as she outgrew each stage as I was so overwhelmed by all the baby stuff. if we have a third I would be so mindful about the few items I bring into our home. Thanks again for thoughtful videos like this one!
So glad you enjoyed ❤️
Thanks so much for this!❤️ I have a small space and needed to go minimalistic for our first baby. Your video makes me feel so much more prepared knowing we have enough already. Are there any nursing bras you recommend? TYIA.❤️
Love the top you are wearing in this video! It looks so soft, comfy and lightweight.😊❤ Where is it from?
Thank you for sharing you have helped me with deciding on what I actually NEED!!! I appreciate you so much. I do have a question what are you using in the floor? Is it a blanket? And where can I find it
Haha yes the snot sucker was a lifesaver!!! Especially with my second who got so many colds her first year 😢
Great video, my third baby had like nothing, lol.
I love how your husband was always spot on with his advice❤
What baby monitor do you use?
Thanks Madi for this video ! It inspires me a lot ❤
What is the white quilt that you have on the floor @24:00
Loved this video! How do you plan on letting your other kids help with the baby? And Curious to know if you will be getting your other kids any gifts to help the transition? I’ve heard of this but maybe only for younger ones.
First I want to say I love your videos 🥰 and I am learning so much along side of you with my 3rd baby coming soon this fall and minimalist/slow living lifestyle as I’ve grown over the years💕☺️
On the note of the snot sucker: we love it but we remove the sponge “filter” and the red “cap” and it’s worked wonders…of course baby doesn’t necessarily like it much but it’s sooooo helpful. So I usually hold baby and hold their head still while my husband does the snot sucking and to be honest we have never had snot going all the way up the tube into the mouth but yeah it doesn’t work well with all those “attachments” so we do it pretty straight forward 😂
Also, in baby wearing, I like to let them snuggle me while breastfeeding or when I’m just holding them and if I have time to sit and enjoy while they nap on me that’s great, but I have two other kiddos and so it’s nice to just let baby sleep peacefully in a safe place without needing to be worn all the time.
Definitely found the snot sucker to be effective - but also a mental challenge :D
I have heard that you can connect the "hose" to an automatic breast pump at a low level though! I love your list here. For my next baby I won't be baby wearing early on, but I am excited to use the Hippie Joey as a skin to skin wrap for all those newborn snuggles!
Thank you for making this video, love it ❤
Not even pregnant but still watched this whole video. You are such an inspiration for future me 💞
Madi I love the straw bag next to you where you keep the cloths where is it from?
Let me tell you. I'm older and pregnant with baby #4, but it feels we're starting over. I needed to hear this. I'm my heart, I know we're good. We have what we need. But in my head, I find myself, in my nesting phase, wanting to buy more things. 🙃
Just want to say to anyone who wants or wanted to breastfeed, but wasn’t able to make it happen, you’re not alone. ❤
I’m due with baby #4 in September. Such good video 😊❤ thank you
My husband was thrilled when I decided not to cloth diaper our third 😂I love this essentials list, Madi!
Definitivamente este es mi video favorito de maternidad. Gracias
Yessss to the snot sucker! My first- needed it, it worked wonders and he HATED it. My second- barely needed it and she laughs when I do. But I totally recommend!!!
munchkin makes a closed circuit version of the snot sucker thing and it’s a better design. No filters, and you just rinse it.
I know you have the link posted but it's not taking that amount off, do you happen to have a code?
“The luxury of less” YESSSSSS!!!
The sweater is so cute
The point you make right at the beginning of this video 👏 👏 👏 Amen sister
Haven’t heard from you in a while and hoping you are ok! Sending love!
Both my girls didn’t like the Frida baby but it did help a lot
Co sleeping is amazing when breastfeeding ❤ with safe precautions of course
I love your style :)
