    It warms my heart so much that you donated your milk via Human milk for human Babies!! I struggled so much with my supply and my son was almost solely fed with donor milk through HM4HB from 3 months on. It gave me such peace to know he was still getting breast milk even if I couldn’t supply it directly. THE MOST AMAZING GIFT WE HAVE EVER RECEIVED!!!

      We didn't know about the expiration of car seats and had a second hand one when she was born. The hospital almost didn't let us take her home because of this! It's interesting; my brother lives in Japan where it isn't required to have your infant in a car seat on the way home from the hospital. That may be because of the opposition of public transportation.

      @@ASMRKay_ thats fine but what i think the op is saying is don't buy one at a garage sale or grab one someone has set out to the curb. (Yes I have seen people set them along with other stuff out to the curb to give away. It definitely happens). Where I'm from second hand stores do not sell used car seats unless it's part of a stroller combo. Also to my knowledge if your car seat has been in an accident the police are supposed to mark it so that someone doesn't try and sell it.

    I’ve seen you mention the bottle thing in other videos too and just wanted to throw out there for new moms that if you start bottles early, chances are baby will take a bottle no problem and they don’t care what kind. I breastfed both my babies, the first until 17 months and my son is 8 months and still nursing, and I started one bottle per day pumped milk when they were a few days old and never did they reject bottle or breast, and I used a different kind of bottle with each kid and they didn’t care. If you wait longer, generally babies will reject any type of bottle you give them. I just didn’t want to scare new moms or make them think you need 5 different kinds of bottles. If you choose to start using them right away and stay consistent, they don’t care what kind.

      Nipple confusion is what I’m so afraid of! I want to exclusively breastfeed for at least a year, but I’ve only heard horror stories of how moms gave a bottle, and then the baby refused the breast and only preferred the bottle 😭 I’m terrified of that happening to me so idk if I could introduce a bottle early. Any tips appreciated!

    • @stephanieruddock1386
      @stephanieruddock1386 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Grace Upon Grace Productions you definitely want to have a good latch established first, but nipple confusion is so incredibly rare. I have never experienced it. My babies ALWAYS preferred the boob over a bottle, but they took the bottle if that was the only option 😅 Definitely speak with a lactation consultant, but in my experience, pumping and giving a bottle a day has never been an issue. I would usually pump in the evenings so my husband could put the baby to bed. Always pump if you give a bottle to match the milk supply. My son is now 13 months and going strong with nursing and takes bottles while at daycare/with sitters no problem. If you aren’t consistent, they won’t remember and won’t take bottles sadly.

    PACK-n-PLAY - Minimalist 2nd opinion. We used this instead of a crib. Smaller, more multi-purpose and Much Cheaper. After about 9 months, we put her on a futon on the floor. You can’t fall off the floor! Your child may be into death-defying stunts and a crib might actually be an increased risk if they like to try and jump out of it.

    My baby is 15 months old and we’ve been using it since the day he came home from the hospital. He’s never slept in it but we used it as a changing station until he outgrew the bassinet part (15 pounds). After that we started putting him in the bottom part with toys. We still do this when we need to get something done, especially since he has outgrown the activity center and swing.

    Since your baby is a year you could definitely do a back carry so she can watch what you’re doing! At that age my kids loved hanging out high on my back. I prefer a ruck carry in a woven wrap but I’m sure you could do a similar carry in a buckle carrier as well!

    I have had two babies and pretty much agree with you. But have to comment that infant carseat is always better and safer for an infant. And you can always sterilize things by boiling them so you don't really need all those microwave sterilising kits. And if you are pumping, you don't need to sterilize all the parts after every use if you can keep them in fridge in a bowl of water.

    I love the boppy carrier too, it's the one I recommend. You get the best of both in the sense it clips around waist so it's got some support. But then wraps around the top so it feels nice and snug. Plus I can get it on without help lol very important.

    The fun things about moms and babies is we all need different things. I am pregnant with my 4th and I have used a pack n play with all of them. We have a lot of traveling throughout the year since my family is 3.5 hrs away and my husband's is 14 hours away. If we did not have a pack n play I would always be stressing about where to safely put my child while I am taking care of the others and or while sleeping. It is in the top 10 things that I MUST have with a baby. Yet for you it was useless, it's fun to watch these for me.

    1- I loved your videos throughout my pregnancy and now even more as a new mom, I feel like we have a similar mindset / approach to parenting (kinda minimalist, Montessori-eque, attachment parenting style that questions what Americans are currently doing compared to the rest of the world) and similarly particular babies who want to do what they want not what traditions says they should want
    2- it’s so weird/cool to hear my name in your videos now 😂 I’m the only Alea I know of other than the singer (I was Not named after 😂)
    3- I used your minimalist registry video to help with my own, not knowing anything I’d need, as well as the many comments people left suggesting other items...and there’s a few similar regrets in our house: my baby has always hated all styles of swaddles and the snuggle me organic too, we also have way too many baby blankets (and I only registered for one of them 😂)
    4- things you mentioned I totally second as Essential: bottle sanitizer with a dryer is so necessary, the haaka, gift cards, the book instead of a card baby shower idea, Ca baby co popup playpen, nursing cover and nursing bras/tops for easy access, and breast pads for leakage.. we have a few others but haven’t taken them out of the box cuz baby is only 3 months and not sitting up yet (activity center, and high chair)
    5-things you didn’t mention that were essential for us: nipple shield (my baby had a tongue and lip tie and could only breastfeed using it until 2.5 months when she was strong enough to latch without it), baby bath that transitions from infant to toddler, Konny baby carrier (super soft and easy to put on and baby loves being in it, I carry her more than my family thinks I should, it’s one of the only ways she’ll nap in the late afternoon), basic cloth diapers make the best burp cloths, soft bibs for the nonstop baby drool/spit up that can soak a cute outfit surprisingly fast, anti colic bottles (I didn’t know not all bottles are designed to prevent gas so when we first introduced a bottle she got horrible gas until we discovered the tommy tippee short fat one), onesies with double zippers or reverse zippers so their whole body doesn’t have to be uncovered for diaper changes, we also have used the tiny top hat potty for EC since she was 5 weeks old (now at 3 months she rarely poops in diapers just pees in them, I totally recommend looking into that during pregnancy since I was not prepared for how many diapers a fresh newborn could go through in an hour span before i gave birth 🤪), water wipes, frida baby nail clippers (have a little window so you can see where you’re cutting their teeny nails), a pumping bra so you can be hands free when pumping (without the expensive hands free styles of pumps), oh and a really big water bottle for that breastfeeding thirst

    A good carrier would be an onbuhimo. It does back carry (for older babies) so easily, and they are higher up than other carrier types I’ve used, and they can see over your shoulder! It’s great for babies that love to forward face because they can still see. The ones I’ve seen (happy baby and Sakura bloom) are hip healthy!

  • @devynrowe7492
    @devynrowe7492 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Babies can safely be worn facing out with hip health in mind. As long as their legs aren’t dangling straight down they are fine. I used a lilebaby and the facing out version was plenty good enough in the hip health department.

    My sister had a baby (the first in my family) and my mom got her SOO many things that they had no space for it. I'm moving out soon and probably starting a family with my boyfriend in a few years, but we're going to be in a small place at first so won't have much space, so I'm hoping to be more minimalistic. That being said, I'm going to have to tell my mom constantly not to get me anything because she likes to go all out and I don't have the space for that lol. They mean well though

    I would totally use the baby Tupperware for portion control. I’ve noticed I feel healthier when I pack lunch for work that’s 1-2 cups in size, since at home I could sit and graze for an hour, and then feel too full. Saw a video of a couple who lost weight simple by eating the recommended service size that’s labeled on everything. That seems easier than restricting oneself of yummy things, tho I had success with keto before I got lazy about sticking to it. Sorry for rambling, you look healthy as it is, maybe someone in the comments could find this helpful at least. 😅

    I know everyone is different but i absolutely love our flower bath. I have a bad back and bending down to bathe my baby in a tub would be a nightmare or even lifting a bulky heavy bath and then dumping it out after. We were given 6 different baby baths just as random hand me downs(i got like every baby item in existance from 3 seperate families giving away absolutely everything they had for up to about 6 months, only to donate most of it right away because this was my second baby so i knew what i didnt want lol) and the flower is the one ive used more than anything else. I did use another similar one thats actually meant to be a cosleeper but its the same material and fit in our tiny bathroom sink at our old place and i felt better putting our 4lb preemie in that but at 2 months old we moved and ive used the flower ever since. I dont need to use it really now but i like to just to add padding if my daughter slips and will likely get a second one as well because were expecting again and i want to be able to bathe both in our kitchen sink at the same time(we have a huge kitchen sink). With my oldest i had an annoying tub and just rinsed him off, soaped him up and rinsed him back off in the shower with me, it was fine but he would get slippery so i learned to hold him with those super thin baby towels. Thats an ok minimalist option or if you dont have the space for a baby bath honestly, around 6 months they can sit up on their own and dont need a bath.
