People pleasing is not worth it anymore. I'm stronger than that. It's so freeing to live my life the way that makes me happy! And not to care anymore about people's judgments.
I am two years into this journey and it is so much more than decluttering as Madison says. It is so liberating, I have more time to do things I've wanted to really do. This year is all about simplifying even deeper and learning how to make a few sourdough foods for the family and teach my kids how to make those things. Thank you again, Madison! You keep me on track!
Your life reminds me of life at my grandparents' house. Grandma would spend time with me, never had the TV on, except after dinner for the news and game shows. We'd just sit in the living room and watch traffic go down the road and watch birds at the feeder and other wildlife in the yard with no noise except the grandmother clock on the wall ticking and chiming every quarter hour. We'd pick berries from her garden and walk down the field road on the farm. In my teens, it was such a relaxing place that I'd always fall asleep on the couch for the best naps. Grandma had the slow living thing down before it was cool!
Madi, I can't wait to see your video on not using a smart phone. Would you also please consider making a video about what your family eats in a week? A video with your delicious, healthy meals in one concise video would be so helpful. Thank you!
Just realized something while watching your video…we can be so focused on ‘who’ our kids are going to be and structure their lives and worry about their lives until we know they turned out okay. But…we’re missing the day in and day out of getting to know them. We’re in a rush to raise them but not enjoy who they are right now, today.
I’ve felt the benefits of purging my possessions; now if I could just get my husband on board with it. I’m astounded by how much clutter stresses me out. Madi, I just love your videos, and look forward to them every week. I also binge watch your older videos when I need some inspiration!
Loved this video! I switched to a flip phone 3 months ago and it was the best decision I’ve ever made! I can’t see myself going back to a smartphone ever! I hope you enjoy the switch as much as I have!
thank you so much for this! i think sometimes it can be so hard to remember it takes time to grow into who you want to be/how you want to live!! i can get so hard on myself for not being perfect in this aspect overnight but that's not how it works! i've been on a health/holistic journey for almost 5 years and it takes time to learn yourself and your body and family and you will always need to learn as things in life/seasons change. i've been on a simplifying and slowing down journey for 2 years.
Your video came at such a perfect time. Feeling very overwhelmed with the visual chaos! So overwhelmed, that it feels overwhelming to even start declutterring 😅 I think it will all start with my phone though. Love your videos! Thanks for sharing!
This video is pure gold 🤩 every aspect of it resonated with me!! Thank you so much for sharing your insights w us! Life lesson that I’m working on right now is dumbing down my phone so I’m less reliant on it & spend less time on it! So far, I’m LOVING IT 😍 I can’t wait to hear your video about how you’ve decreased your time on your phone too!
I love this so much! I've been working on digital minimalism lately, setting auto limits on different apps and kind of making it a game to see how much I can lower my screen time. I've been spending more quality time with family and friends, even if it's over phone calls. I drive a lot for work and I try to spend that time either in peaceful rest mode or talking with loved ones.
A million percent fruits and vegetables taste differently in other countries - it tastes so much better home grown. Everything in this video resonates so much. My 27 yr old downgraded to s flip down to break his addiction.
over the past few weeks ive been grinding my teeth etc at night while im sleeping and having the worst pain in my jaw and my lymph nodes are swollen. its making the stress worse, but its crazy how we can be stressing so much and not even realize..
your videos.. the video itself, the ascetic if you will, your wisdom, voice, all of it. I'll never get enough. you're my favorite content creator. I've watched so many of your videos way more times than I can count lol. I cant wait to save up for a workshop. no one compare to Madisun! I'll quote you and my fiancé knows who im talking about haha. much love as always and kudos to you for traveling with kids I know it isnt easy but so worth it (when you went there). xoxo
That simple living/slow living is really about being kind to yourself. Trusting that if you stop always trying to do "more" or "better", that life will still go on, that you can have a successful life, even if you detach from the pervasive hustle culture that's steeped in EVERY facet of modern life. EVERYTHING: from food, to exercise, to our homes, our hobbies, everything has become so "extra" and I am just over trying to be good at everything. Time to trust that if I let go of what I think I "should" be, I just might find who God's made me to be.
Cannot wait to hear more about y your time without a smart phone. Also, I’d love to hear more about how you homeschool your kids, if you’re interested in posting about that!
I would be so interested in how you are living without your smartphone. I deleted social media 2 years ago and I haven’t looked back but I am still spending way too much time on my phone. It’s crazy that I lived without one until 2012 and now I feel dependent on it. I started wearing a watch just to have one less reason to look at it 😅 I know you’ve got a lot on with your lovely young family but it would be fascinating to learn about your smartphone free experience. Does Kyle still have one and if so do you borrow his sometimes? What other pieces of technology do you rely on instead? My biggest reason for wanting to keep it is the camera and photos app. I love being able to take photos/videos of my children and being able to look back at old pictures anytime I like. Also just googling things, finding useful information when I’m on the go. As ever, I really appreciate your message and the way you put it across. You’re so easy to listen to and learn from. Thank you 🙏
Absolutely beautiful ❤️ I'm currently working on trying to slow down. I read John Mark Comer's book and it definitely gave me some "wake up" reality checks. Thank you for your encouraging content!
Just what I needed today thanks. I'd really like to get rid of my smart phone but my marriage with kids has just become long distance (husband is in another country) and I think without a smart phone is might be more complicated for us to all keep in touch. I'm going to look at the possibilities though. I'm so tired of the constant rushing and hurrying everywhere and I hate that my children witness that every day. You've given me a good reality check today! Thanks for your inspirational and encouraging work Madisun. :)
This year really focusing on my phone usage. Dying to find out how your doing without a smartphone. Everyone I know thinks I am crazy. Your videos are helping me navigate through this simple living journey. Thanks
My spouse was not on bored at first, so I just lead by example. Often times, I will just start decluttering ( not his stuff, its not my place to give my spouses things away without his consent) and a few days in he will just start joining. I think they notice when the house feels more peaceful and when our mood changes due to these changes. I started taking better care of myself and dressing up more and never once asked my spouse to do so, yet he followed and did the same after a while. It’s contagious when people are happy due to their choices, so spouses and kids usually join in. Don’t force it, even if he never gets on bored, focus on what YOU can control to better YOUR circumstances. ❤
Working less often means less money. In this economy most of us are one step away from poverty. Which means we work more, rush more, see our families less and never relax.
That I so true! This is a survival mode. There is a way, though, for it to work. If you can work, you or your partner and the basic needs are met. The extras does not matter. Meaning you are working only for your basic needs. Working as well, has cost itself. Less time to cook, clothes for work, gas for the car, extra car in some cases. More expensive choices because you don't have time etc.. the thing is, is enough 1 salary to cover basic needs?
@@lemontree9019totally agree with this. When we did all the calculations years ago, we realised I was basically working to pay for the extra car and fuel, childcare, extra expenses because I never had time to cook properly. We downsized our home. Moved closer to husbands work. It was a big adjustment spending wise but was the best thing we did. I realise this isn’t possible for everyone because of housing expenses and utility bills. It seemed like a big sacrifice at first but turned out to be a blessing and led me here.😊
Hello my beautiful community, I'd love to know a life lesson you're sitting with in the new year. always love this comment section. 🌞
That I need very little to be content with life.❤
@@Chrissyhappy so true, so sweet. we all need this reminder.

Do you have any advice for someone who has a spouse that does not live this way, but I desperately want to?

Are you vegetarian? 🥑 I am trying but iron is low.
She eats mostly plant based, but she’s not vegetarian.
Seek God first for everything! Not my husband girlfriends books or google
U cant do that in usa
