      It's a beautiful image. It's also the flattest raw image I've encountered on any camera...so be patient and use lots of grading adjustments!

    This camera was a blow and will be a hit for a long time for those who love creative freedom
    I have BMPCC too. And with to great little old Zeis lenses. I put a camera and a batery packets in one pocket my vest and a lenses in the other. That is the true freedom. I can have a great cinema camera and great lenses with me at all times on my way. Ready to shots in all time.

      @@hartmanscott Today, I have moved freedom a little further. The MFT mount on the camera is bad for me because my glasses are a good old Zeiss C-mount (small, fast, sharp and quite cheap). C-mount / MFT reductions are not good and the lenses vibrates when focusing), it is not a tight connection like PLmount. So today I created a version of the BMPCC camera - Cmount. I have a new front of the camera and it's great, I don't have to adjust my Zeiss glass to the MFT and I don't need a c-MFT reducer. I adjusted the camera. It' is perfect, solid, accurate and better than MFT. I am very happy. It worked better than I expected.

    • @BenEricson
      @BenEricson 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. I use this camera with a set of Kern c-mount prime lenses. I bought a small battery plate for the top and ran the cable through the cage. I use a light meter with hard stop NDs. I never even touch the menu. I think trying to use this camera with a metabones adapter and big heavy lenses really defeats the purpose.

    Hi Scott, love the footage! I just got a BMPCC original, trying to learn with it. What lens did you use for the Star Wars stuff? Plus, how do you encode for TH-cam?? Keep up the good work!

    • @hartmanscott
      @hartmanscott  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! For the Star Wars stuff, I used the Panasonic LUMIX 12-35mm f1.8. It’s the Panasonic four thirds equivalent to a 24-70mm. For TH-cam, I don’t do anything that fancy. I use the setting in Final Cut Pro for “Computer.” This generates an MP4 file with a bit rate of about 20mbps. That’s going to make you a pretty good TH-cam file. There are 100 different ways to do this, but that setting is very reliable for me.

      @@hartmanscott I'm currently using the kit lens that came with my Panasonic G6, the 14 - 42. I'm not hugely impressed with it. May need to invest in more glass! Keep up the great work!

    • @hartmanscott
      @hartmanscott  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fidget Video Media that’s a bummer. I have a plastic 14-42 and I’ve always found that to be pretty capable but a little finicky in terms of what fStops are sharp. With my lens, I usually lock it at about 5.6 and then use an ND filter when I am outside. Or if inside, you may have to REALLY hit your subject with a lot of light and either use an ND inside or try to darken the image in post. The OG pocket camera sensor needs a LOT of light to produce its best images. The histogram isn’t very good but I’d definitely try to keep even a darker scene as close to the middle as you can.

      Hello! I am a big fan of the Panasonic Lumix 12-35 and the 35-100. Each lens has some stabilization built into them (though it's not great). One thing to remember is that this camera has a crop of like 2.6 so those focal lengths change drastically. Sometimes I use a RoninS with this camera. Other times I carry a small table-top style tripod. Between lens stabilization, handholding and stabilization in Final Cut/other systems, you can get it pretty stable.

      It was a half-cage made my SmallRig. I don't know if you can still get them, but that's the company name.

    What is this cage called?

      It's a SmallRig half cage for the original Blackmagic Pocket Camera. I"m not sure how widely available they are right now. But it's a great little cage.

      @@hartmanscott I bought a bmpcc again after selling it in 2014. Got a full smallrig cage for it but half-cage looks very neat! Thank you for the video and inspiration!

      Haha. Good eyes! I think that had more to do with me using a lower quality web file for that particular clip.

    I almost subscribed. Shilling for woke Star Wars though... I dunno. I'll have to think about it.

      Haha. And here I thought I was shilling for Blackmagic Design 😁. Either way, thanks for watching.
