early BM with their Fairchild sensor tech looks special. I wish S16mm was still common for low end cinema bodies. so many great zoom lenses make for S16mm
there was a time when these things went for like 300$ used, now they are back up above their final sale price
Bought my OG years ago. It's made me alot of money and still does. Also, it helps provide some film awards in the process. It's a beast.
I got mine OG Pocket on preorder back in 2013 :) Pretty crazy how much in price they went up the past year ! I remember seeing some for 200-300$
I traded a Lumix lens for the OG BMPCC about 1 month ago and I couldn't be happier with my decision. It is a nice B cam to my pocket 4k rig and I think I may actually get a few projects done with it, especially if a client is looking for that "look" .
Great work!! less gooo
👏👏👏 thanks bud!! 🔥
I remember the BM Micro Cinema Camera being my dream camera just 3 years ago! It was capable of 1080p DNG raw @ 60fps, which I thought was a better choice compared to similarly pierced cameras from Sony (e.g. a6300). But then the P4K was announced and after some waiting I finally got it. Since then it only got better with the firmware updates. Glad I bought this over the Micro. Technology has come a long way since then, but the original Pocket and Micro have definitely left their marks on history!
As always brother you amaze us with the content
The OG pocket? Oh, how I miss those simpler times.
The good ol days! 👊
Just ordered one for $700... With a 16mm Sigma 1.4, cage, and external monitor 😍 can't be anymore excited to slap in gimbal and get some B roll cuts. Thanks for the awesome video
Thank you for the content. I love how you take old cameras and show they still really functional.
Thank you for the comment and support. I have fun on this one especially cause it was my main camera years ago.
i did get one 5 months ago to replace my broken hdmi port. I love it and I will get the 4k
Thanks for the mention bro! O.G. Blackmagic Gang... 🤘🤘🤘
Oh course bud 👊 thanks for the stellar content.
Bought one for 520 dollars (but in Sweden) a couple of weeks ago and im very happy with it.
The OG pocket was such a beast. Loved that camera
I use it every day. Great video.
You're welcome. I actually do enjoy the narrative content/ aesthetic. You helped me find the gear I was looking for.
Thanks Johnny! Glad you enjoy it and happy to help anytime.
Awesome as always, keep'em coming 🙌
thanks Pau
Thanks Paul! Appreciate you!
I got mine last year off ebay for $350 😳. Still stunned I found one for so cheap and I love the images out of it as well. Great video, man 🙏🏼
I recommend the micro cinema camera. It's a bit more clunky to operate because it doesn't have a screen to navigate the menus but higher frame rates, the same sort of beautiful Fairchild sensor and the added perks of more flexibility of mounting options. I love my micro and I have a g2 and an Alexa in the kit.
another Micro owner here :) I love that thing
@@broaf very underrated and under used camera. Genuinely holds nicely when cut in with my Alexa footage.
@@ashley.caldwelldp yeah, I totally agree. Unfortunately I am not that pro with an Alexa level production budget, so I have no experience but I can definitely imagine that
You forgot it also records compressed RAW, 3:1 which is much more practical for SD cards.
@@johnbuckman2441 That's typically what I shoot with. I rarely go anything other than 3:1 raw.
BMPCC 4k/6k is different sensor. But question is, can they achieve the same organic/analogue look of original bmpcc? I am just starting out and before I invest, want to make sure.
Bmpcc was definitely a breakthrough in affordable cinema gear at that time. Glad that blackmagic keeps up the good work providing great products with amazing potential. Keep up the great work guys, love your content no matter the subject.
Couldn’t agree more. Thank you! Means a lot 👊
Appreciate and thank you for this inspiring video. I have owned the bmpcc OG for a while and just recently badly damaged the hdmi port (ughhh), but thankful the camera itself is still usable. Thought I’d be ok without that external monitor feature, but I’m not. And decided to get another one in excellent condition at a decent price. So now there’s two for unintentional A and B production (LOL). Now with lesson learned with that… I’m still having a challenge processing the footage from that camera. I do own and actually work with Blackmagic 4 and 6K cameras. Any advise with post on those files the OG produces?
This was always my dream camera next to the cannon 80d. I regrettably got the 8d because i was doing more stills work at the time but now i have a ursa g2 and loving it. Made me want to buy my 14 year olds dream now witching this vid lol
I always wanted the OG pocket camera. Back when it was actually pocket sized and not the form factor and shape of a shoe.
Its actually pocket size for sure. Wish this cam has 60fps tho'
or a box...
Yes you are right. The batteries are old models which were used in Nikon dslr cams. Cool video again
The aesthetic of your channel is really next level! :) Love your content! Much support!
🙏 appreciate you Thibaud! Thanks for the comment and your support! Good luck on the giveaway!
Always regretted selling mine back in 2015 so I bought another one over the weekend, I'd love to see your upscale/color grading workflow. It looks fantastic in 4K.
Had one. Was impressed with what it can do even today.
Hey, I'm first here, happy to see your videos❤️
🎉🎉🎉🎉 congrats and good luck on the giveaway!
I just recently bought an as7 iii I have been using my og bmpcc since 2013, and to be honest I still think it's amazing, I'm not selling it ever.
I never sold mine. I just love it with some C-mount lenses
I sold mine a long time ago but I still try to replicate the look with my pocket 4k. When I have some money over I'll get it again. It's a treat! 😀
subbed liked and comment:
bmpcc og is a beast of a camera and just picked one up myself along with all the hacks for it since those nikon batteries are trrrrassssshhh lol
Nice one Wulf! For real this camera needs to be re-released. True classic.
Pocket!!! man, been awhile! Thanks bud! Re-release would be crazy!
It’s also been my dream camera for quite some time. The reason why I haven’t picked it up yet, is because I have some good Zeiss E-Mount glass and it won’t fit on the BMPCC. Can’t justify buying some more quality lens for that camera.
bmpcc better with vintage zeiss glass
This is a fire video right here.
yeeeaaah! Thanks bud! 👊
Another amazing video. Thanks, mate 😉 ✌️
Thanks Bo! Glad you enjoyed.
Congratulations, that was my dream too. Now, Im using the bmpcc4k... but i wish the OG as a B cam.
Really!? Awesome man! It’s a little difficult to manage today cause of its small screen compared to the pocket 4K but still… I love it.
As long as Blackmagic doesn't launch a BMPCC ver ll, I am sure that this camera will stay unique and relevant for many years.
So even if you end up paying $650 for it, I am sure you will get your money back (as long as you take good care of it) in the future.
I don't know any other digital camera I can say that about.
I just bought one. I wanted something with image quality that would be super easy to use, and small just for quick vids and stuff I dont feel like bringing my bmpcc4k with the cage and all the extras for, the quality and simplicity is what I wanted.
OG BMPCC Fairchild Sensor has dual gain technology like Arri Alexa... :)
Thanks for pointing that out. Love this sensor.
@@jasoniscx4 The best for the sensor is RAWLITE OLPF. Be sure, your picture will always look better with it. :)
I’m trying to find the specs so I can find a compatible sd card. Any ideas or suggestions?
I own this camera, bought it when BMD did 50% for the summer promo. New for $500 was worth it. Now I am sitting here debating on kiting a new Pocket 4k or just decking the OG out. I will probably do the 4k so I can still use the OG together with it. I will say though, its nice to now that I can scale this up to 4k.
Recently purchased as a learning tool for creating compelling stories anywhere in cinema format, and wanted something different from the masses in terms of visuals.
Thanks for the great content!
Nice hoodie!
Epic camera. But a speedbooster is essential.
I’m learning to shoot with the 6k pro but seriously considering getting the OG just for fun stuff. It’s an amazing little camera. Great rig also!
Still got mine, now I’m inspired to go back to it challenge accepted! Also nice vid ;)
Let’s see whatcha got 👊 Send me the video after it’s done! Thanks bud!
Sadly I bought one one Ebay and it arrived broken, but I had the chance to shoot with it and it is a dream, the images that come out of this small body are absolutely crazy good. Would love to buy one in mint condition, but at the moment it's too expensive and I rather buy a 4K for professional shoots... Thanks a lot as always !
I’m sorry Adrien, that’s messed up. Yeah, it’s a bad ass little camera but the price is climbing. Putting money toward the 4K instead is smarter anyway. Maybe it’ll drop soon? Will see.
@@jasoniscx4 We can only hope so! Don't be sorry sometimes shit happens 😅
Glad to see you stumbled upon WEARETHEGOOD. Get some Neo Slasher vibes when I listen to that EP. Keep pumping these videos out 🙌
I like OG cameras, like my sony fs700.
will it be able to record 1 hour plus continoues video by connecting to some power input? or does it have recording limit or does it overheat?
I have a Production 4K and absolutely love the image you get out of it, even though it's an older camera. Using an a6500 for a B cam, but would love to switch it out for either a micro cinema camera or pocket cinema camera. Leaning towards a micro since it's nice to have the option for 60 FPS every now and then. Keep up the good work man!
Love that camera! Don’t know if I would purchase it again
I could see myself grabbing it on occasion when I need to fit a camera in a small space.
Nice vid. Question, does the PANASONIC LUMIX G X Vario II Lens, 14-42mm, F3.5-5.6 ASPH., Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds, MEGA Optical I.S work with this camera? I only have used FD lenses but thought I should pick up stabilized wider lens. When I put on the 14-42 it is blurry. I updated firmware but still the same issue. Thanks for any insight.
This is the camera I currently use. Im just getting into filmmaking
Nice!! How do you like it so far?
@@jasoniscx4 I just got into filmmaking. Im making my first short film, so I guess I will see how much I like it soon!
@@retrofuzion1126 that’s great! Share your results soon!
Really like that rig.. simple but effective !.. can you do a shirt video on your rig pls. ty
IM LATE BUT SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESH ANOTHER FAYAAAAA VIDEO. i dont want the merch tho
That's fantastic! Congrats on that new toy! I defo would pay 650 for that. I had no idea of all the things it could do! Keep rocking and keep inspiring us! Cheers from Italy
Great video, thanks!
Cool video, I would go for the OG.🤘
Heck yeah! Thanks Pixel! 👊
I've now just bought this camera for the first time after buying the 6k Pro recently too. I've posted a couple of videos about the BMPCC original (OG) on my channel. Love it! That Fairchild super 16 sensor is amazing. So filmic! I got a very strange but beautiful circular flare about 5 mins and 50 seconds into my 'Blackmagic BMPCC Original LEICA ELMARIT-R 28mm f2.8 Peter McKinnon 2 Variable ND Filter 2-5 Mist' video I just posted - if you have time to check it out, can you give me my opinion on it? Not sure if it was the VND I was using! Either way, I love the Sun bursts and lens flares I'm getting from this camera!
Here's my video th-cam.com/video/wZssICY38tY/w-d-xo.html
I remember when there was a sale for $500 on this camera from B7H. I still kick myself for not getting rid of my 7D for it at that price in time. SMH
Yes!! I remember that. Couple of guys I knew bought in at that time. As I made my used purchase I thought back to that. 🤦♂️
Been looking for a while to find one and damn they all breaking the bank. Imma keep looking to find that one good deal and swipe it up. In the meantime I'll keep using my Panasonic G7 💪🏽
And a week later I found an amazing deal on eBay and picked one up for $557 😭😃
YES! You’re making me want to shoot with mine. I think my next vid will be with it… 🤔
I luckily found mine for 500 before the market blow up for it. Although I need to clean the sensor it seems to have to smudges from the previous owner in the corners
Haha go shoot!
Smudges on the sensor 😳 the one I bought was super clean. Guy said he shot with it once and it showed. Super happy, sent you a DM on IG.
Literally received mine yesterday, for £400
😲👏👏👏
Really interesting and quality video
Love the BMPCC! 👍
And like you said, I don’t want to film stuff with my phone, its convenient but doesnt have the image I want.
Pfff it's been hella difficult for me to find a proper cage, I've been looking into Sony A7 cages as well, but not sure if the camera will work with it.. It's damn near impossible finding a rig for the BMPCC in the Netherlands. If anyone knows a spot, please tell me!
eBay is the way to go. You may have to buy a full setup that come the camera ( or the other way around ) and resell what you don't want/need.
Hey there! B&H also has some in stock made by Movcam. Check it out.
love it!!!!
🙏
How can we tell the quality of it when it's got that awful heavy grain applied?
Subjective
Honestly, $400 seems like a sweet spot
Right! How about $300? Lol
Another great video!
Short on point. No time to get bored here 👉
I think that's me after 10 years,I would still use the Pocket 6K because is that good and there is no reason to upgrade anymore ( I have an Ursa G2 and 2 P6K's)
I would definitely consider buying an older camera for a vintage look footage, probably not something like this, the image quality is great, probably some type of DV camera
Super nice video once again! :) Concerning your grain, I'm wondering how you make it look like that. When I apply grain, the TH-cam compression makes it become a mushy mess. But on your videos the grain is still clear and your footage doesn't loose its sharpness. Any advice? Is it a matter of how big the grain is, or maybe you reduce its intensity in certain levels of the image (with nitrate),...? I hope to get your advice on that :).
Im in the process of making a video in nitrate with grain settings and export. But really its all in your export. Please watch this video I made explaining exporting highest settings. th-cam.com/video/Q3jotmZk8MA/w-d-xo.html
@@jasoniscx4 Thank you :) I work on resolve, but I'll see if I can find some equivalents :) Looking forward the grain video!
Mmmmm 650? Maybe a oocket 4k
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great video. I had completely forgotten about the little giant that really democratized the indie filmmaking. My original BMPCC does not recognize the internal SD card - it never did. At the time I used a BM Shuttle to record onto SSDs through the HDMI port. I prefered it actually because SSDs were reasonably convenient and substantially cheaper than SDs capable of recording high bit rate footage.
What is the monitoring device you have rigged up to the little pocket-cam? What monitoring/recording device you recommend for the original pocket-cam in 2021?
That’s too bad. My SD card slot works just fine. I’ve rigged a 5” BM Assist to a cold shoe above. Recording internally.
Would I buy an OG BMPCC for the prices they are currently commanding? No. I would just buy a Pocket 4K. However, I was fortunate enough to get my grubby lil mitts on one when they were still selling for a little over $300.
Now a days Black Magic doesn’t make them pocket size anymore 😭 unless I get them 1990’s big pocket pants
JNCO pants!! I bet we get a newly designed cam soon… micro cam 2??
I do almost feel like they should drop the pocket name at this point, the OG was actually pocket size
While everyone is rocking pocket 6k's etc i am still building my OG pocket rig lmao :D! Making a long short film on it right now! It looks great :)
Heck yes!! Nothing wrong with that bud. Share your results with us 👊
So much smaller compared to the 6K Pro
YEA BOI THIS SHIT BUSSEN
So funny. I have the BMPCC4K and the Lumix G9, but the original bmpcc is my “dream camera”. Don’t even know why.
Copped mine for $350 about 2 years ago
Rub it in!! 😂
Lmao it's all love brother 🤣
I paid 500 for this new when they had the fire sale
Got one for $500 last march on ebay.
Steal. 👍👍👍
paid 550 bucks for bmpcc og + nikon speedbooster N/F - bmpcc!
how do I subscibe?
i just purchase one TILTA cage from this store, they provide me the cheap price and fast delivery! if u want one, this link will be of use!

These are Micro Alexas in my opinion, so yeah $650 is definitely worth it.

I'm here to win a hoodie 🤣
Good luck bruh!
