If you want to buy the "old Pocket" I highly suggest buying the "BMMCC". The Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera. Same sensor. BUT: raw 3:1 (yes. raw compression so you can record 3x times more footage on your SD card). Better battery support. You can use LP-E6 Canon Canmeras. Full HDMI port. The BMMCC has no monitor, but a Full HDMI output. You can buy a nice cage and add a 5 Inch or 7 Inch on top of it. And a handle underneath the camera. The BMMCC is a box and looks a bit like a "Small RED Komodo". It lightweight, striped down, and I used the BMMCC a long time before switching to the Pocket 4k. As I wrote. raw compression., Better battery, Full HMDI. 3 features I love about the BMMCC and missing so much at the "original pocket"
I did take a brief look into it, but couldn’t find one for anywhere close to the price of the OG :) my other concern would be the buttons - the OG pocket doesn’t have many, and if I remember correctly the BMMCC has even fewer!

I am selling fully rigged bmmcc in good condition. bad side of bmmcc is buttons are uncomfortable but i bought One Little Remote V4 Control which with few clicks right front of you, can change any setting in camera without touching the camera.They dont sell this remote anymore. if you interested I can show you photo of the set up. I have Canon R5 8k raw vs bmcc 1080p raw, canon still looks digital compare to bmmcc. Most people think this sensor have film look, but its not just about the colors, it's motion, having someone walking or running scene on dslr, slrs looks digital motion like mobile phone, but motion on bmpcc or bmmcc more like film motion close to arri.

Used it professionally for years until I started needing 4k for more projects so moved to a ZCAM E2 which feels like the big brother to the Micro.

I love this series!! I used mine every weekend for a whole summer. Getting smooth footage without the 60fps crutch was a great exercise!! Can’t wait to see what you do next with your OG BMPCC.
I just have to say you should really add some cage clamped adapters/extenders to this camera, because it's ports aren't the most sturdy and robust things out there, and if they break that usually is the end of the camera with out even more hacks. Yes it makes it a little bit bigger, but this is about protecting ones investment in an old, quirky, but awesome little camera for years to come.
It feels nice to know that I'm not the only one investing in old gear, I recently bought a Canon 5D mkII so I could shoot RAW using Magic Lantern and I rigged the shit out of it, shoot a short film back in November and the footage is so sharp and clean.
Dude I became hell bent on getting one of these in like 2016 when I was in highschool. i ended up never getting one, sticking to my t6i until I got the pocket 4k. The Philip Bloom review of it is iconic. Nifty little thing but seems like such a pain. Still pumps out the beautiful Black Magic color
@PRIVATE the bmpcc has some of the worst cmos jello of any camera of its generation What the bmpcc does have is noise and dynamic range characteristic that gives it a very nostalgic look.
I love this camera. I have a gimble rig, which utilises a np-f battery solution for the camera., handheld rig with d-tap and a shoulder rig with d-tap battery solution.
I need everything that you used for the pocket! I just bought one from my cousin. Crazy that I own a ursa g2 and pocket 6k but I’m shooting a short with the original pocket. It’s just something special about footage you get from this camera.

I think one of the biggest advantages of this camera is that is has essentially the form factor of a mirrorless camera. As always with cameras and the public, making people feel intimidated with your flashy, big, high value setup draws a lot of attention and makes people act weird or uncomfortable
I seriously just love the look you get from the camera! That high dynamic range where it doesn’t look like it’s just black and white with colors, but a lot more natural. I have no experience with the BMPCC OG, but for shots like these 2:10: are these straight out of camera? Or have you color graded them?

I can relate to spending money on old camera gear. But instead of the original bmpcc, I went for a Canon eosm with Magic Lantern Raw installed. A couple of yeahs on, I'm all in. 2 eosm and a 700D all running Magic Lantern. The benefits of old cameras is you have money for lights, lens and other gear. Shooting raw video is great too.
It may seem like a lot of money but when you realize the latest version of the BMPCC costs about the same for just the body it really doesn’t seem like that much. Great video!
i recently also got this camera, its so great, i love it. and i have the feeling that much people are gonna come back to this cameras and make them up the price! i also would like to find a solution for a remote trigger for when the camera is on a rig, and what cage are you using? i only found a 'ikan' case for my bmpcc
@@DSLRguide I think a cheap one and maybe would work is a remote for old Panasonic camera, I've seen some dedicated shutter buttons but they are waaay expensive
You can still purchase a remote trigger from Lanparte. I believe there are wired and wireless ones available. I’ve been using the wired one on my BMCC 2.5K and it works wonders.

Ah, sentimental! Much respect for your fidelity to the old pixie workhorse, hanging onto the old HD tech. I don't think I've ever been able to reproduce the color "feeling" of my original BMPCC, from even its immediate successors. The only thing that prevents me from using it anymore, is the way it's surrounded with 4K cameras, impossible to suitably blend into a multicam shoot.
The look from the first lens is very cool but one question that shot you look with the other Lens of the guy from the back is very steady was that really you or u stabilized in post

I linked to all the gear in the description :) But, I couldn't find any that are big enough for the full screen, so I just imagined how much extra I'd need to frame on the sides, or in this case it kinda helped since I was planning to crop to 4:3 for the super8 effect anyway.
I shoot in RAW, expose at ISO 800, using aperture or ND filters to make the image as bright as possible without clipping the zebras (at 100%). Then I bring the exposure back down in post, and set the white balance too :)

I don’t have much money to even buy a new camera, but someday, I’d like to get one that has more ease-of-use, at least an aps-c sensor, the flexibility of recording 10 bit, and less accessories to buy, but I suppose I’m talking about a dream camera. Whatever happened to your Canon EOS t3i (600d)? I still kind of use that at work. We also have an 80d which is much nicer, but the limitations are much to be desired. I guess it’s functional and useful for run-and-gun b-roll, but I suppose I’m seduced by the shiny new cameras the different manufacturers keep popping up left and right lol.
That’s all good, I like to wait as long as possible before buying cameras, this second purchase was out of character for me! My t3i is still going strong :)

i got this camera brand new in box with two panasonic lenses that i've sold for more than the price of the full kit, so i basically got it for less than free. But i don't use it cause i got not fun lens to put on it. These videos will make me buy some accessories for it lol cause the image is incredible.

I think there’s something to that idea of this being a “crutch-less” camera. The lack of 4K, slowmo, requires me to get a better image in camera

I do the same exact thing with my 60d been shooting with it and a 24-105 for years now and still love it.

That 14-42 Pancake lens, a 1900mAh internal battery (or 2), and an ND filter is my favorite setup with this camera. Super minimal, super incognito.

haha, yes, i still use the OG BMPCC to this day for non commercial stuff, still holds up even in 2022, i like the nostalgic feel of the image

Thanks! No stabilisation on the lens or in post for that shot, just the weight of the camera and me bending my knees to walk smoothly

What's the advantage of this camera over a 4k mirrorless that can take the same lenses? It's ability to do raw?
There aren’t many advantages over modern cameras to be honest, but it’s small size, cheap price and raw codec are certainly valid benefits

Believe it or not, the pancake zoom lens does have image stabilisation! Lovely bit of kit if you can get past the weird focus “ring”
