      @@carlscinema7086 I don't like versing them against each other. I think they are the most perfect A and B cam combo I've ever used. The color science is almost an exact match straight out of camera. I use BMCC as A Cam and typically use BMPCC as gimbal Cam. If I could have only one it would be the Pocket. It's just more versatile. You can stick a focal adapter on it and get a different look. Although the 2.5K is a good bit sharper than the pocket.

    I am so happy people are still talking about the BMCC/BMMCC and continue to be blown away by their image quality to this day! I still have a BMMCC that was once rigged out as my A-cam for years because nothing came close to the Fairchild sensor, and I will argue that nothing still matches. It still has its place in my arsenal of gear because of that "look" you described.

    Loved your intro shots... I just bought a BMCC 2.5k on ebay, I think this and the BMPCC are fantastic value today and the images that come out of them are spectacular and stand up to any modern cameras, irrespective of sensor resolution. The colours and that creamy Alexa-like look are just georgeous. Very excited to play with my new camera when it arrives in a few days. I nearly went for the pocket, but last minute decided for me the BMCC was a better fit as I want to use it more for home studio work and the BMCC has SDI output, balanced microphone sockets, and even a Thunderbolt connection to see waveforms and monitor audio levels. But I think I might even buy a pocket in future, to match to it...

    • @Zton-yn4kc
      @Zton-yn4kc 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok, so this is the card I got last year ( Kingston Canvas React 256gb) when I bought it after many different “recommended cards” from the site. I spent more on cards that didn’t work than on the camera itself. Here’s the issue I’m running into after finally finding that the Canvas React worked: it doesn’t matter if I’m shooting prores or cinemadng, when my total footage count reaches 15 minutes, the camera refuses to record at all past that, even though I have PLENTY of room left on the card. It says “ready’ then for an instant flickers “rec” before cancelling back to “ready’ and that shot did not register. My work around is to transfer my footage. THEN after deleting the footage it STILL doesn’t record... hmmm... so then I have to reformat the card in-camera, and suddenly it works again. Something else to note: the power button is EXTREMELY temperamental, so don’t freak out if you hold it for a second and it won’t turn on. Just tap the power, it will boot. Apparently this was a firmware bug that never got patched and they then decided to move on to other cameras.

    • @Zton-yn4kc
      @Zton-yn4kc 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Also of note, the cards that I mention I spent a fortune on, there’s basically no way to guarantee that you are getting a compatible Sandisk Extreme anymore because the non-V30 has a mass produced Chinese-factory version that doesn’t match the same model number by a few letters. No matter if you do your due diligence, all the listers selling it will not disclose that it’s actually this Chinese version and not the recommended. So if the 128 Kingston Canvas React works without a charm then GET THAT, don’t fuck around with Sandisk, rolling the dice when it comes to this camera and your hard-earned dollars.

I still have my original camera and i love it. • @carlscinema7086
      @carlscinema7086  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's kind of hard to say without knowing your budget or what type of shooting you are doing. Are you looking for zooms or primes etc? A good allround zoom could be the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 for example. And if you want to go even wider perhaps a Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 would be a nice fit. Or if you are going with primes maybe a set of a wide, a standard and a short telephoto would be nice. On this sensor with a speedbooster that would be roughly a 10-17ish (somewhere in that range depending on how wide you want), a 24mm and a 35/50mm

The metabones ultra would work the same way as the viltrox with the same focal reduction of 0.71x. Metabones also makes a XL version which has a factor of 0.64x and the BMPCC version which is made to be used only on the original bmpcc which has a factor of 0.58x. Hope that helps.

    • @carlscinema7086
      @carlscinema7086  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are using the tokina at its widest you'll get 11 x 0,58 = 6,38. So the tokina would be a bit wider. The bmpcc with the 0.58x speedbooster would still be a little bit smaller than Super35/APS-C so both full frame and Super35/APS-C lenses will work.

      Hi!
      A 180° shutter is the most common shutter and is the shutter refered to when talking about the 180° shutter rule. It will give you the most natural looking motion blur and almost all movies stick to it unless they are going for a specific look with a different amount of motion blur. Using a photo camera and setting the shutter speed to 1/50 when shooting 25fps is the same as using a 180° shutter angle for example. Hope that helps

    • @carlscinema7086

      Generally when shooting video or film you don't use the shutter for exposure at all, so the shutter would stay at 180° regardless of the light. And you would instead use aperture, ND-filters or the ISO/gain for exposure. Are you sure you're not underexposing your image? Less light generally means more noise.

      It's really not made for a multicam workflow, the image is very unique - you'd have a hard time matching it to others or others to it (unless they're also Blackmagic Cinema Cameras). It rarely produces great results from just plonking it down to capture stuff, it needs a lot of attention when filming and in post.

      The camera has a 1920x1080p sensor so thats the resolution of the raw files. You might be thinking of the BMCC which has a 2.5k sensor. The files are roughly 2 MB per frame, so for 25p that would be 50MB per second (Megabytes, megabits would be 400Mb/s). So 1 minute will be roughly 3GB, giving you about 20 minutes on a 64gb card.

    What's your power solution?

      I have two different ways of powering the camera. The first is the Sony Npf battery plate shown in the video. The second is my most recent purchase which I only use in a rig, V-mount.

    Does it have a B raw upgrade?

      It doesn't, unfortunately. Only the most recent blackmagic cameras got braw.

      Carl's Cinema what about uncompressed raw?

    • @carlscinema7086
      @carlscinema7086  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It records in CinemaDNG. It is compressed, but a lossless compression so you're not losing any quality.

      Carl's Cinema cool just ordered one Glad it’s not the treacherous 12 bit uncompressed raw, pro res 4:2:2 seems to fit the needs of most 😅

      Not 100% sure what you mean by the raw part, it is a 12-bit lossless compression (think of it more like how a zip-file works) so it's very close to uncompressed. For most cases ProRes should be just fine, but it can be pretty fun to explore the raw aswell.
