    Thanks! I want to make one like this, but for our twin electric beds and I'll use the two head side sections to make hidden storage boxes with hinges on the wall side and strong magnets to keep it tightly shut, so the pannels will look like they're nailed on the sides.
    I'll just need to cut out openings where the moving parts of the beds are lower than the frames.

    This is great! Thank you for the Idea! I'll be doing a herringbone design instead of the vertical shiplaps! This is great!

    Well Bill, I have watch several of them and I like yours so I'm going to copy yours frame by frame the only thing I think you should have done with yours which I'm going to implement in mine is the third drawer I think it can be use as a storage for stuff you don't use that often.

      I agree about the 3rd drawer. The space is there, should not let it go to waste. Here's a link to the build by Steve Ramsey that I patterned my bed after. He also put two drawers in the foot of the bed, which I didn't do because I thought it would spoil the design I was going for, but I'm having second thoughts about now. th-cam.com/video/8NPAjqQ4GvE/w-d-xo.html

    Nice bed. Ive watched a bunch of these as I am planning on building one for my daughter. I like yours the best. But why bother with putting the piece of plywood on top of the slats?

      Good question! Thought it would keep dust and bed linen lint out of the drawers, but totally not necessary.

    Too many parts to assemble. There's ways to simplify the whole thing.

    Have anywhere we can grab the sketch up files? Would like to learn sketch up and build something similar. Might make a good start to learning.

    • @williamkelly2415
      @williamkelly2415  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here's a link to Dave Ramsey's tutorial on how to learn sketchup. It's how I learned. Very excellent. If you browse his channel, he also has a video on how to build a similar platform bed with storage drawers. It is what I used as a basis for mine. I believe he also includes sketchup files for his bed. Good luck with your project. Dave Ramsey will steer you in the right direction. th-cam.com/video/r2K6gmcc_jA/w-d-xo.html

    How much shorter did you make the middle and ends then the outsides?

    • @williamkelly2415
      @williamkelly2415  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what you are asking but build the frames for the sides first, then build the frames for the front and back to whatever dimension you need to hold the width of your mattress. Attach all those pieces together, then you will know the length that is needed for the two middle frames. I hope that answers your question.

    Is there a printable plan and list of materials?

      Here is a link to a similar build by Steve Ramsey. I patterned my bed after his. He includes a link to his printed plans in the description.

    How to do get the measurement lines at 1.28 ?

    • @williamkelly2415
      @williamkelly2415  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not very intuitive but you will find it on the Tools tab drop down list (click on Dimensions). Here is a link to an excellent tutorial by Steve Ramsey on how to use SketchUp, which includes use of the dimensions tool. th-cam.com/video/r2K6gmcc_jA/w-d-xo.html
