    first of all anyone that thinks in this day and age with the prices of everything down to eggs being so expensive no one should think this is silly. IT LOOKS AMAZING AND YOU DID A GREAT JOB I AM thinking about doing this for my husband's and I's bed with thicker plywood on top and some additional things but I absolutely love this and thank you for sharing.🥰

    Brilliant & Perfect! Great re-use of something that would have ended up in a landfill. I would respectfully add one more detail....if the mattress is one of those foam type mattresses, some holes drilled down the center that is empty underneath would help with air circulation. I’ve seen what happens under those mattresses when there is no air circulation, don’t ask me how I know that! If it’s a regular mattress it wouldn’t need it. Love it, turned out fabulous!!!

    • @MimzyandCompany
      @MimzyandCompany  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      thank you so much! yes, I know what you mean with the foam. same thing happens with chairs that don't have holes for air flow. ;)

    About the only thing to add is plastic grid flooring squares under mattress to aid in moisture circulation. That's something I've seen other platform bed people do. I've been shopping for futon bed and the comments say to get the grass reed mat to prevent mold starting. Maybe that layer is an option too in this case.

    • @MimzyandCompany
      @MimzyandCompany  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      hmm...so far there's no moisture build up/mold under her mattress. probably because she is just one small girl sleeping on the bed. IDK but I check it once in a while to make sure. thank you for the great ideas! this is very good info for others who may need those options. thx!

    How has the mattress moisture build up and air circulation held up after 2 yrs on that underlayment?

    • @MimzyandCompany
      @MimzyandCompany  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a good question! I didn’t know about that until recently! I watched an RV rehab video and he mentioned moisture and mold. So I checked my daughters mattress thoroughly and it’s fine . No moisture , no mold. I think since she’s a very petite girl and not a big hot sweaty man it’s working out fine. But I may put some vents in the plywood anyway.

      It’s flooring underlayment. It’s wood glued together in layers to make a 4’x8’ sheet. It’s only 1/4” thick , but it is plywood and it was in fact $13.98 per sheet at the time of recording.

    Wow now that’s taking “hacking” to the extreme. This is ridiculous looking and how can you choose a bed without proper support ? You must have amazing back because if I did that I would be at the chiropractor and physiotherapist daily. #BadBackProblems

      The bed is very flat and sturdy since the unsupported area is only about 14” and my daughter is only 100lbs.. it doesn’t budge even when I lay on it either.
