I live in an apartment in Melbourne and our Body Corporate isn't allowing EVs and in particular in building charging due to fire concerns linked no doubt to our building Insurer not agreeing to cover us for an EV fire. Good to see EVs are getting safer w.r.t. fires but these big insurers need to be pushed to cover EVs as we are probably getting fewer fires now compared to IC cars. However, I still hear that it's not the frequency but the intensity or runaway fire aspect of EVs.

Look at the EV fire in South Korea last week. 140 cars destroyed and 27 people injured because of an EV spontaneously burning down. And it wasn’t even on the charger.

As I said just look at the South Korean fire last week, the cargo ship that burned out a few years ago with all of those lambos, Ferraris, Porsches, etc. it was an EV that caused the fire and resulted in a crew members death. 1- Government support that essentially undercuts the costs of other manufacturers. That is, dumping.
2- Leveling the playing field. For decades US automakers could not sell into China without being subjected to hefty tariffs. The only option was to open up manufacturing in China. The US stance is similar; Chinese cars are welcome in the US, they just have to be made here.
3- Cyber security. For years the PRC has tried to embed malware and spyware in consumer products. This is my field of expertise (cyber). All too many Internet switches and cellular communications systems had to be taken out of service due to these “hidden gems”. So the solution is that any vehicle computing must be manufactured and coded in a friendly nation.

Hi, I m really curious, why need to compare with Tesla? Tesla Technology is way backdated. They are way behind all the new technology with the current ev trend. They focus to supercharger, others brand already in phase of implantation new tech of batteries, supercharging etc..etc. stop compared with Tesla. 😊😊😊😂

The Zeekr 007 new battery only charges fast when connected to the company’s ultra fast chargers in China. So the cars won’t charge that fast here in Australia. Still I really that model.

The burning of fossil fuels is CLOSING SCHOOLS around the world for days, sometimes weeks at a time, and threatening to undermine one of the greatest global gains of recent decades: children’s education. Children today are living through many more abnormally hot days in their lifetimes than their grandparents, according to data released Wednesday by Unicef, the United Nations Children’s Fund. Pakistan closed schools for OVER half its students, that’s 27 million children, for a full week in May, when temperatures were projected to soar to OVER 40 degrees Celsius. Bangladesh shuttered schools OVER half its students during an April heat wave, affecting 34 million children. So too South Sudan in April. The Philippines ordered school closures for three days, when heat reached what the country’s meteorological department called “danger” levels.
In the United States, heat days prompted school closures or early dismissal in districts from Massachusetts to Colorado during the last school year. They represent a significant share of total school days, and one recent estimate suggests that the numbers are INCREASING QUICKLE, from about four days a year a few years ago to OVER double that number now, with MANY MORE expected BEFORE midcentury.
Heat waves, MADE MUCH WORSE by the accumulation of MAN-MADE planet-heating gases in the atmosphere, are making it harder to learn. Even if schools are open, extremely high temperatures, especially over several hours, AFFECT LEARNING OUTCOMES, INCLUDING TEST SCORES, research shows.

Is the software as good as telsa ? like self driving etc: and are they going to be around in 5 years ? just about all EV makers are loosing money like it's going out of fashion fast even then the ICE makers.

i'm always for improvements in EV tech and am definitely excited as to how this will further accelerate competition in EVs and how Tesla will respond. my #1 issue with state of the art vehicles like these though is the sustainability. When Lucid first came out, it made Tesla vehicles look downright ancient in comparison. but the reality now is that Lucid vehicles are PLAGUED with never ending technical issues. while tesla vehicles have their own share of problems, they are way more reliable than any other EV in the market. In China, Tesla is one of the most popular in terms of reliability. i have no doubt that Zeekr 007 has superior tech inside, but i wouldn't buy it, at least this time. maybe in about a year after they fix all the kinks that it will definitely have.

Come on Sam, a 75kwh battery charging at 600kw?. The 350kw charger roll out is really slow here in Australia and cost more per kwh then the 150 or 250 kw charging stations. So how much is the 600kw charge going to cost. So all these facts makes no difference to home charging so not sure it's a great benefit.

Oh and how many 500kw chargers are there in the UK ... outside London.
It will take more than a 25 years to upgrade the electrical infrastructure to cope with the increased electricity demand, the government should have started it 20 years ago but they didnt. The reason we are not driving EV's right now is the lack of planning by successive governments.

NIO is backed by the "Hefei Investment agreement" in Hefei city. In 2020 it purchased 24% of NIO and loaned it another $1.6 billion USD.
As part of the deal, NIO agreed to:
Inject its core businesses and assets in China into a new entity called NIO China.
Invest RMB4.26 billion in cash into NIO China.
The government of Hefei also helped NIO obtain loans from six local banks to develop its supply chain.
NIO reported a net loss of RMB5,257.9 million (US$728.2 million) for the first quarter of 2024.
This represents an increase in losses of 9.5% from the first quarter of 2023.
Current portion of long-term borrowings of RMB4,965,415,000 (US$687,702,000)
      Long-term borrowings of RMB11,384,242,000 (US$1,576,699,000)
If you insist on comparing to Tesla. In May 2013, Tesla repaid the entire 2009 DOE loan of $451.8 million, nine years early. This was a significant milestone for Tesla making it the only American car manufacturer in the DOE program to have fully repaid the government.
