As a Japanese, I wish I could believe what Toyota is trying to make you to believe. But it is a fallacy. Even Toyota can’t beat physics. To create hydrogen from water, you need electrolysis, which needs electricity. It’s more efficient to directly power an electric motor. Toyota is only trying to to keep its engine technology and its supply chain alive. But the efficiency is so much better with electric motors.
"I love what you do for me, Toyota." Toyota is all we've had since we started driving...37 years ago. From Corolla LE, to Camry LE, Sienna LE and Avalon, XLE. ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉
You will always need electricity to convert water into H and O. And it is always less than 90% sufficient. Where are you gonna get all that electricity from. ???
I really hope this works out for Toyota because they've always made good reliable vehicles. This world really needs this and we'll see who the best leaders are by who steps up to work with Toyota and get car sales moving in their country. I hope America has leaders who can see that this is the best direction for the automobile industry all over the world, but everyone knows how much the fossil fuel industry will try to make problems rather than find common ground. No matter what fossil fuel will still be required unless everyone can afford to switch over in the coming months. Airplanes, Buses, the military will all still require fossil fuel, so they're not going anywhere overnight.
Toyota feel that they are going to loose money because electric cars do not needs parts so they are bringing other solution to earn again through the parts
These days there are Diesel engine cars in Germany which are clean, very reliable and much cheaper than electric cars. You can also drive more distance!
These autos will consume more water, but there is a benefit. If they can utilize treated sewage water, it not only eliminates greater demand for water, it will clean the sewage water and convert it to clean water vapor. This will help clean the natural lakes and streams that now receive that water. We are working on methods to clean that water directly, but applaud these efforts as well!
This water powered vehicle once invented by an American in 1950's or 1960's. So far as I remember he stopped by the powerful oil and gas industry and the inventor later found dead or killed.
When you look at this end-to-end (i.e. from the part where external energy is needed to create the hydrogen used in the car), then this is less efficient than just using electrons in an electric car. Especially if you have a home solar array & battery combo from which you can charge your car.
This certainly sounds interesting. It is the new era in, not just the auto industry, but also in the industrial systems generally. It would depend on the efficiency and production cost of the use of hydrogen. It appears that the vehicle will function generally like an electric vehicle but powered by hydrogen and water, with it's battery charging systems similar to the traditional generator or alternator motors. I am definitely interested in that green energy technology.
This is just a hybrid electric car, with the inverse powertrain topology of conventional hybrids . There is ZERO revolutionary technology, just well-executed engineering of existing electrolysis, fuel cell, and motor technology. The car requires electrons as a fuel source along with water- and in fact nearly all the water could be recycled, so it's not strictl;y a fuel so much as a mediating agent from electric supply to kinetic energy. This is just going to be another stopgap technology until self-powered EVs (with onboard PV) or something truly revolutionary is developed.
I heard that the Petroleum industry bought a patent for a water powered car engine years ago and buried it. Also, they, the petroleum industry, bought patent for an engine that would run 100 miles on a gallon of gas and buried that too. Whether or not that’s an urban myth I don’t know, but it is certainly believable. But with one of the worlds leading car companies coming up with it, unless the petroleum industry decides to hand Toyota a couple trillion dollars, this might actually become a thing. A real thing. I truly hope it does!!
I've been a Toyota devote for the last 40 years & love its products. My 1st car was a corolla which ran trouble free for nearly 20 years. My 2nd was a Privia mini van which lasted for almost 27 years. The reliability of Toyota vehicles is truly legendary to say the least. My lastest is a Lexus 350H hybrid which I bought last year. I just love it and hope it'll last as long as my previous Toyotas. They're an amazing company and visionary in automotive technology. I'll be the first to buy a hydrogen powered vehicle if they come with one! I trust Toyota more than any other car company in the world ❤
In 1972 I graduated with a degree in Earth Science. Back the they were saying in 50 to 100 years we will merge into a hydrogen economy.
❤I hqve a toyota with over 400,000 miles i drive everyday.
I love the idea of outfitting existing cars this technology. Just makes more sense.
As a Toyota Tundra owner I applaud Toyota's leadership in this field. 👍👍
I wish Toyota well with their development of the water engine. 💧 🚗
Toyota keep saying about the same things in the past 8 years but never happen.
But you still need electricity to break water. Water is not the fuel. Hydrogen is.
The trouble is you need energy to separate water into hydrgoen and oxygen. Where does that come from?
It's sounds almost too good to be true! GO TOYOTA ! 👍👍😊😊
Toyota makes cars that don't keep breaking down like American cars
Greatest invention of our time,I hope the money worshippers don’t kill this invention
This "car running on water" was sort of popular in the pre-1990s but got pooh-poohed away...
I believe in Toyota, they will find the best solution
I trust Toyota. I would trade my Camry XLE for such a car! Goooo Toyota!
but electrolysis still using electricity to make it happened. So, how about this?

They keep launching new technology but, I rarely see them.
"I love what you do for me, Toyota." Toyota is all we've had since we started driving...37 years ago. From Corolla LE, to Camry LE, Sienna LE and Avalon, XLE. ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉
Use to produce electricity - for homes, factories leads to cheaper electricity bills. Buy Toyota shares.
You will always need electricity to convert water into H and O. And it is always less than 90% sufficient. Where are you gonna get all that electricity from. ???
I will buy such car! That is a real breakthrough.
please release as soon as posible
I like and WOW amazing TY so much ,,Keep up the great work
Stanley Meyers invented a water power car way back in the early 1980's.
Awesome, really looking forward to its presence in Indonesia. Greetings of peace and prosperity from Bali ❤
This was possible years ago.....but was kept secret by gas industry.
The Mirai hydrogen powered car is out. Adoption is hindered by that lack of a hydrogen fuel infrastructure - fueling stations are extremely few.
I have been waiting for this.
This is the real deal. Go, Toyota, go.
I love Toyota cars I have a 2010 Toyota 4 Run I love it❤
Unfortunately, Toyota has been promising this for the last 20 years. My guess is it will be released right after the Fusion Engine.
Go Japan for thinking outside the box
I love the Japanese, very innovative. Reminds me of a visit to Japan in 1995 on a cultural visit. It was indeed an eye opener!
Glorious news if it actually works.
Yes, I saw people in Jamaica use water to help make their cars more fuel efficient.
A Filipino Engineer invented that in the Philippines, wayback in the late 90's..
Great inventions by Toyota
I love , think breathe and sleep Toyota. I am totally supportive.
Better then battery powered
It was demonstrated by a Filipino more than 3 decades ago but because never supported by people from the government
Producing and storing hydrogen has always been the problem.
We need to protect this guy!
Thanķ you people of Japan
According to the currently accepted laws of physics, there is no way to extract chemical energy from water alone. Water itself is highly stable.
How good will it work in freezing temperatures?
Very smart technology. Environmental friendly. Save our globe

One massive problem: cost. Lots of moving parts mean lots of wear and tear, and the need for lots of servicing.
Electric cars are finished shortly you will see water power engine by the leading car maker Toyota a company we know we can trust .
The price of water will hit the roof and we won’t be able to use rainwater 😢
I love the Japanese, so smart, far ahead of us
Sounds better than dealing with China. I hope this will work.
It would literary put holes on multinational oil conglomerates' pockets and that is a big problem🧜♂️
100 percent I have the same technology and I have proved it work.
Invention is one thing - manufacturing is definitely is another !
A working water powered car was apparently produced in the early 1900s, so it's about time !!
When can I purchase one here or import one?
When are cars going to be run on fresh air😂😂😂😂😂
I will wait for you Toyota, good job.
Toyota feel that they are going to loose money because electric cars do not needs parts so they are bringing other solution to earn again through the parts

GREATEST CREATION OF CENTURY
TOYOTA IS JOINING KODAK & NOKIA SOON!! 🤣🤣🤣
The impossible become possible, go Toyota.

in freezing counries water freezes it will have to be heated ?
ASIAN"S (Japan) ARE SMART GUY'S WHEN IT COMES TO THINKING OUT OF THE BOX , WITH REGARD'S TO HOW TO OUT DO THE PETROL & DESEAL TANK..............
It's abundant and renewable but it's expensive to break down
the only problem is that it isn't true
H2 gas is very expensive

great practice and wish Toyota reach its goals!
Toyota for the eight year in a row promising jam tomorrow
Are the vehicles in exitance and so in wich model..?
Stanley Meyer invented and proved this technology circa 1990's. He was soon dead for his vision, talent and efforts.
Very simply explained all the things .. ❤
If I could afford one, I would buy and support Toyota 🚗👍
This is truly inspiring information and I hope it comes to fruition, and better sooner than later...
Fantastic! Onward and upward, Toyota... ! Show Elon Musk how to create truly transformative CLEAN vehicles.
Yeah I hope I can afford buynew water car, Toyota is worlds best car brand👍👍🇯🇵
Remember the Stanley Steamer back in the 1930s
Good job Toyota 💪👌👌👌👏👌💪👌👊❤
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 amazing 😻

Thank you 🇯🇵Japan and Toyota. ❤️
This is the way forward... lead by example!!! Toyota is leading the way!!!
This is a complex process with a complex motor with low efficiency
I believe it when I see it with my own eyes.
Well. Toyota also introduced the CVT erhm.

I hope the water engine will accept excess water from our bodies 😊.

Way to go we love that just keep the cars price low and car parts easily accessible win win and take it more customer more sale globally.
What about hydrogen gas leaks and explosions?
Sure, it's called a steam engine. Trains ran with steam engines for quite a while.
Wonderful idea.
Thermalcars? Only when the sun shines 2 months. A year😢😮❤
