I have a 99 Jeep Cherokee XJ. Had the same problem when I installed my radio. Lights and all functions worked, but got no sound. Tied in the power antenna and the power wires just like you said, and I got sound! Thanks a lot, man! Def saved me a costly trip to the audio shop.

Awesome information! After watching this, I went out and tested this successfully! I've researched this for close to a month and this did the trick. My local radio would work but no digital sound. Thank you so much for this video.

Thank you very much. I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty that has that exact same radio. I thought it must have an amp but I could not find one. Bought used so we had no real idea. The impedance of the speaker wires were WAY higher than normal speakers. This fixed my problem and I appreciate your taking the time to show this.

Your are an absolute bloody legend, this fix my after market head unit in my 2003 Chrysler Grand Voyager, as I wanted to keep all original wiring in case I get rid of the car, all other videos and advise were taking the amplifier out and changing wiring seemed like way too much work for a head unit. Mate your a legend 👍👍👍👍

GLAD I FOUND THIS VIDEO! I just replaced an Infinity stereo on a 2000 Durango with an Alpine, and after doing this for over 45 years, THIS was the FIRST time I got NO SOUND after a head unit swap! Like you, I went online and found out the same thing; that the signal from the deck speaker wires FIRST go to the factory amp, THEN to the speakers! Well, I can NOT find even ONE wiring diagram that shows the exact same wiring colors as this 2000 Durango has, so I figured what I would have to do next would be to just run speaker wires from the Alpine to the speaker wires coming OUT of the factory amp. Makes sense to me. Until I saw your video! Now I'm going to take a second look! This Durango factory harness is a little different than yours looked but not much. There is a black plug and a grey plug. I never thought to look on the top of a factory deck for the wiring diagram! In fact, most factory stereos don't have this because the stereo was already hooked up at the factory and they assume you don't need to know how. But when I go back to finish this job, I'm FIRST going to look at the top of the factory stereo I took out to see if it has this diagram! OH, one question I didn't see in your video: after you connected that blue wire with the red one, did you then connect them both at the other end of the butt connector to the new deck's red wire? I'll let you know how this all works out, but you answered my question!!!
