It's an awesome feeling. I'm a regular at my local retro store and most of the people working there know me by now. I was big into PS1 collecting at one point and they had just got a ton of PS1 complete games in but hadn't priced them yet. The guy brought out 4 boxes of unpriced games for me to look through. I picked up 3 of my most wanted games that day. It was a lot of fun!

@@RetrocartCollector It really was a great experience! That was at the peak of my collecting, too. Sometimes I wish I could go back to that, but it's slowed down considerably for me. I'll still pick up a gem every once in a while, but I had so much fun with it at that point.

My collecting always seems to have peaks and valleys, some times in those valleys when your just getting a gem or 2 here or there, those moments, although a different emotion than the peak of collecting, are really special too because it’s just that moment of the find. Not that constant when collecting like crazy.
So, I recently started collecting Nintendo 64 largely in part to your videos. And yesterday I found my mom's DVD/VHS player. So I've been on a tear collecting horror movies on VHS. I also went to Goodwill for the first time in a while, and actually found 9 tapes that were 50% off. So, thanks for the great videos, and the inspiration to start collecting myself.
I had the F1 race set as a kid, I remember the fanny pack was super heavy though especially with the game boy in it and having extra batteries. Wish I still had the set, I only have the F1 race game!
@@majinya6199 i got mine when it first came out when the housing market crashed, and then got the psp vita years later which i enjoyed. I remember they came out with a starwars battlefront for psp and it was just as good as the ps2 version
So in regard to the golden Majora's Mask, it wasn't just a problem with that version of the game so much as it was a problem with gold coloured plastics in general at the time. Something about the pigments not being mixed properly. It is sometimes refered to as GPS (gold plastic syndrome), and for some toys it was so bad that all you had to do was poke the gold plastic and it would crumble under the force
Not just gold plastic, but metallic colored plastic. I've had many toys that had metal flake, and the swirling metallic look that just crumbled. Nothing as disheartening as a 1989 Transformers Slog just crumbling in your hands, same for the 1997 Transmetal Megatron. Same happens with translucent toys.
@ 5:23 I agree with that guy's statements regarding the SonyPSP and how Sony didn't market it very well and so much more could have been done with the console. But for some odd reason, Nintendo has always dominated the handheld market
I ordered that PINK Hyperkin 64 controller awhile back. It just sticks out and looks great with all the other colors. Like, I had to get Peach in there.
That’s the store I go to all the time! They definitely have some cool gems from time to time. Hopefully one day you can convince them to buy that SNES kiosk!
Retro Rick I had that Fanny Pack as a kid! My mom bought that for me when I turned 8 in 1990. I may still have that at my dad's. I used it actually lol. I'd stuff it with games when I traveled. I know I don't have the box but I'll hunt and see if I still have the pack
Sure, it was Earthbound custom painting... But it was even more a Smash Bros custom painting... That stage, and the pose of Ness getting smacked into the screen and more importantly, Lucas in a winning pose! Haha
That Conan game is THE WORST. Conan is the big IP I collected as a kid, so when I finally got to play the game I was pumped...when high expectation meets crappy reality, the pain is real.
Pulled both a cib menacer and that Mario NES cabinet out of a dumpster years ago, along with some Wii games, sega genesis and a gameboy advance SP, all in perfect condition. Sold the genesis and the menacer for less than $40 (seemed like a good deal at the time for a college student who wanted to buy some expensive synthesizers lol) not too long after, but still have the rest. The Mario Cabinet is now the centerpiece of my game room!
conan for awhile by me was super pricey to find got one for 23 scratched up, okay game mainly just a filler but it always catches my eye when I go look for super Mario in the drawer XD
What held the PSP back was most(not all) important games eventually came to PS2 and that made it not a must buy system. Nintendo kept their portable games on their portable system for many years and you had to play them there

On the topic of the golden Zelda cartridge. We who collects vintage transformers know this all to well...gold plastic is very brittle compared to other plastic. There are old Transformers figure that suffer from what is known as GPS (gold plastic syndrome). It will just crumble over time and become extrymly brittle and breakable. Must be same issue here with the cartridge.
