The poor kid is going to feel so much regret when’s he’s older and finds out his parents got rid of his cards. It’s the classic story of losing your childhood collectibles.
Ive always thought those museum shadow boxes would be so much better if they were setup with CRT TVs and consoles to play. Like back in the 90s when you could go to Toys R Us or any other toy store and play the demos. You would have to give up all that lower wall space there they have the toy hangers now but I personally think it would be cool from a customer stand point to have a row of playable retro consoles.
Respect for keeping the cards to Pokemon "bright and fun stuff". That attention to detail and customer experience is what makes your store and channel so great. You definitely have a well crafted vision!
so with ricks endless collection and personal inventory.. its not surprising that he can absorb these immaculate finds into his personal collection and probably just swap stuff out to make up for it.
in the 90's i remember really wanting that pokedex for christmas but it was sold out everywhere we looked. Went to my older cousin's house for xmas break and his wife saw that I had it on my christmas list, she pulled out a bin of sealed pokemon stuff and she had one in there and gave it to me! best christmas ever
I have multiple sealed handhelds. Game Boy, Atari Lynx, Sega Game Gear, and others. Bought them with paper route money in '89-'91 and still minty to this day!
After warehouse flea markets first open each day, the individual booths don’t open until later individual times. They were tarped off. At Shelby County Flea Market in Simpsonville, KY. Bummer.
I grew up playing Forgotten Worlds! Loved that one. Fun fact about that game: Playing it with one of the Sega Genesis controllers with mega fire options, if you enabled the mega fire while shooting, your health drained rapidly.
That's the thing though. Seems like everything that is super unique, clean and worth it's value goes to the "private collection". Dealing with the same situation here in my hometown w a local store. I guess you need to own your own place.
In the Home Alone case. It would be cool if you could find some micro machines. That looked like the ones he used to booby trap the house with to put in there.
All of them do that now, The prices are all eBay prices or more. Untested and sold as is without return. Since it is their own in house, They don't pay any fees. They charge extra for shipping handling too along with long waiting period of item's. They shipped out after 5 day's and than you still have wait for it. They do bid on their own stuff also. We need to do something about this, Every single re-seller on youtube should stop doing business or donating to GoodWill. It is sickening what they're doing
Love the Home Alone stuff. From what ive read, they had the persons son dress as Buzz's girlfriend because they felt bad about the line Kevin would say while looking at the photo a d didnt want to make the girl they would've used feel bad or give people a chance to find her and ridicule her.
There were promo Yu-Gi-Oh cards that were released with Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dawn of Destiny for the OG Xbox, finding those or having them on stock for when people buy the games that would be cool
Quick hint with Yugioh: most of them are less than a dollar, even the higher rarity stuff. There’s usually only about 2-5 cards in each modern set that is worth anything, and they’re almost always at least an Ultra Rare (there’s very few exceptions to that, but there’s a handful of short printed rares and commons worth something).
The disrespect to SEGA Genesis is unreal on your channels. You put a Super Nintendo in that 90s Christmas window and not a Genesis to at least go alongside it. Breaks my heart
I enjoy the haggling. I wonder sometimes how much money is made with all that staff and then you keep $2500 worth of consoles for your private collection.
Yugioh is a very cool market to get into, but it's tough and involves a lot of time. What you have there is a lot of bulk. Modern cards are very up and down, but vintage can be very valuable.
Hey Rick big fan of yours and your channel. Just watched your video about you switching out the cubbies in the store and changing one to home alone. I think it would be so cool to change one to the nativity and the story of Jesus for Christmas! Just an idea and so much respect to represent the reason for the season. God bless
Retro Rick I need your advice. When I met my Wife I had just gave up gaming I just wanted to focus on my work and finding a relationship that was meaningful and someone who enjoyed and believed in God and where Church was important. After 2 almost 3 years of not gaming on an actual console. I decided to go back to gaming. I was split between the intense state of the art graphics and performance like a PS5 or XBOX SERIES X. I decided against that because my ADHD mind would be hooked chaos going in the house and I’m focused on my gaming. That’s why I gave it up to begin with before I met my Wife. I was like nope time to grow up I’m done. But that child inside of me like wanting to come out and just have fun again. But not to much fun I couldn’t just pause or even hit off in a blink of an eye to help with the kids or if my Wife needs help. The best option for me is the Nintendo Switch. It’s got the great graphics for Nintendo games like Kirby and Super Mario games or even Metroid. Games solely for the Nintendo brand. Other games you loose a little bit of that smooth glossy graphics. But getting back to what I was saying (ADHD took over) what I need advice on. Is when my Wife asks me, “How does playing video games better my life?” I don’t know how to answer that. I really don’t. Only answer I have is that it’s fun! It helps me relive some tension and stress in life working hard 12 hour rotating schedule (day shift) at work. It helps me relax let out some stress of paying bills and working overtime. Work at home is a necessity too. Dishes laundry making sure house is clean. Without forgetting to give plenty of love and affection to my children as well. So when my Wife asks me. “How does playing video games better my life?” You as a believer in God a dedicated Church and family man. How do I answer her?
Here's some good yugioh cards, Blue eyes white dragon, red eyes black dragon, Gate Guardian, Exodia, any of the legendary dragons cards,LOB is series 1, MRD is an earlier series also
Hey Rick, Yugioh is moreso a competitive game so unless you’re getting in nostalgia bait (like dark magician from the original Legend of Blue-eyes set) or current meta cards (which almost requires you to play the game to know which cards there are) it’s hard to price them accurately. Maybe looking for a a temp employee who can siphon through your mtg/yugioh/Pokémon a couple hours a week for you to put on the shelf. Turning away a MTG collection or yugioh collection because you’re not privy to the value of it just means potential thousands walking out that door.

I was there when that dude came in with the sealed gameboys, it was my birthday and we were looking around and I thought it was so cool seeing those!
We hope you had a great birthday!!
I absolutely love the choice of Home Alone! Not to mention the actual idea of having these cool time capsules that rotate. Very cool Rick!

great nostalgia and memories. great vision our age group appreciates rick.
Respect for keeping the cards to Pokemon "bright and fun stuff". That attention to detail and customer experience is what makes your store and channel so great. You definitely have a well crafted vision!
Totally love the home alone display case! You put a lot of effort into your store, it's nice to see!
I feel like filming your store in 1440p or 4k would look incredible. Not that it doesn't now, but all those colors would super pop!!
OG Retro Rick fans will reemember that sick score of Yu Gi Oh, Pokemon cards from the $10 game collection days ☺
so with ricks endless collection and personal inventory.. its not surprising that he can absorb these immaculate finds into his personal collection and probably just swap stuff out to make up for it.

those are so beautiful...and minty too. Nice collection!

Those yugioh cards are SICK! Man that takes me back.
Ngl the Home Alone booth looks super cool - nostalgia overload.
I've still got my original Kiwi Gameboy Color. So definitely have nostalgia for that version.
Never stop gaming expo would be a perfect name for your expo Rick!
That R Zone sticker on the side of the Game Boy is giving me mad Toys R Us nostalgia. Along with the TRU stuff Retro Rick has in the store!
I love it that you’re speaking about going to church in this secular day and age!! God bless you and your family sir!
Loved Exosquad and the soundtrack back in the day
Salivating over those sealed items!
My grandma just passed away earlier today so I’m glad this was posted today to try and keep my mind off of the situation
Sorry for your loss, I hope you heal and grieve healthily.
Hahaha 😂😂
@@fruitysnax9219 thanks! I’m just trying to look bright side that she isn’t suffering anymore since she was really in a lot of pain her last few days
So sorry for your loss
My Mom passed away about 2 months ago. She was the only family I had. I feel your pain homie. 😢💔😔🙏🏾
Erm best selling toys of the 90s and no Buzz light-year in that display case 😮 sacrilege
That SNES with the bow brings back Sears catalog vibes. WELLL DONE!
That Home Alone display is TOPS. Buzz's gf (woof) is an excellent touch. :tips hat: to you good sir
You should have done a christmas display about the best Christmas movie ever...Die Hard!
"brand new.....sealed.....never been opened." lol yup we got it Rick
That Froggy Flips outro lol, would be cool if you two collabed
That's the thing though. Seems like everything that is super unique, clean and worth it's value goes to the "private collection".
Dealing with the same situation here in my hometown w a local store.
I guess you need to own your own place.
I mean that’s one of the perks of rolling the dice an opening a shop. Especially when you’re a collector I would do the same.
So freaking awesome! Love this next time I visit my Grand father in Little Rock got to make my way in to the store!
Man how crazy I’m in Covington Ga
Me too lol
I have both of my 90s taking home alone dolls still too laugh out loud
In the Home Alone case. It would be cool if you could find some micro machines. That looked like the ones he used to booby trap the house with to put in there.
That's crazy! My goodwill takes all the good stuff and ships it off the auction site I believe! I never see games or anything cool there anymore
All of them do that now, The prices are all eBay prices or more. Untested and sold as is without return. Since it is their own in house, They don't pay any fees. You store is like a video game museum
The disrespect to SEGA Genesis is unreal on your channels. You put a Super Nintendo in that 90s Christmas window and not a Genesis to at least go alongside it. Breaks my heart
Love all the seals!
Huge Pokémon collector here, awesome cards with a great story!
I need a few of those genesis games for my collection lol
I enjoy the haggling. I wonder sometimes how much money is made with all that staff and then you keep $2500 worth of consoles for your private collection.

I have a pizza box from Dark Bunny Tees (I don't think they trade anymore), mine is Nakatomi Pizza and contains a Die Hard sweater.
never give anything to Goodwill stores ,but, if you insist on shopping there please steal.

You need some space jam air jordan 11s for the space jam section

Actually the director and producers didn't want to make fun of a young girl so they asked the son to dress up for the purpose of being made fun of.
@RetroRick do you happen to know if Donkey Kong was ever available for PS2 or PS3?
Nope
WTF?? i was playing pocket champs and watching your video than your advertasing pops hhhhhhh

is there a link to purchase from your store online?
