As someone who works at a used game / vintage media store. We are also having to debate keeping new games in stock. Our profit margins are not quite as disastrous as this store. But often we're paying $42-$55 from a vendor for a $60 or $70 game. It's also pretty bad for other new media, but video games are crazy... Used games really are the money maker. Very cool store that I would love to visit when I'm back in the area!
Really nice Retro Game Store, the retro game store I usually go to is kinda like this one but much smaller and has less variety of games, but I love going there just to see the old consoles on display and also the games available for it, the vibe is totally different than going to a modern game store.
Ricks store is amazing. Drove 7 hrs in July just to go. That Kirby Super Stars in the grail case. I'm pretty sure I traded in. Rick and his staff are very nice. Really hope I can go back sometime.

I feel like his store is way more than a million in value... if the inventory alone is 800k. He has a crazy amount of extraordinary items. If someone walked in there and offered him 2 million for the whole store, think he would do it?
No, from what Rick has stated the store doesn't turn a large profit but it makes him happy and thus is worth the time he spends on it. Can't really put a price tag on something like that.
I live in sweden so its a bit to far but his store makes me happy. The look and feel of the store is amazing, if I travel to US then Ricks store is one of my goals to visit!

NCAA14 is crazy. I started collecting about a year ago for the 360. Ive come across 3 copies in the wild, and flipped 2 for around the $90/ea ($80/ea profit) and I held on to 1 for the nostalgia. Then when I decided to grab the new one I sold the last copy I had, complete, for $30. I honestly hate that game prices are so high, because I rarely flip anything....just like collecting for the nostalgia. Why I sold my Gensis. I got a great deal on the system and the games, but all the ones I wanted were well over $100/ea for a loose copy. Crazy :(

Toy-R-Us was liquidated them from lack of sales but loved the console, bastards quit selling the games a few years later and was the only department store that sold them.
Sega Genesis is indeed the slowest for us as well and has been for years - PS4 and Xbox One are poor sellers as well due to increasing downloading gamers doing downloads more and more every day - we have been in the business in Pa for 23 years and seen a lot of changes. but retro will forever be the popular stuff
we have a local store in Bend, Oregon and I had a long conversation with him about how people try to sell him “like new” games for near full price, like $50-60. How do they expect a store to profit off of that? I sold him my first party Nintendo games all for 20/30 a pop. People gotta make money!
Wow, in Michigan in the 90s the Ronald on the bench was outside of every restaurant. My sister and I in the winter would sometimes make him a hat or a little snow man buddy for him.
Surprised Retro Rick has never seen that nyko airflow controller on the xbox before absolutely loved that as a kid no more sweaty palms while youre staying up all night
I made the mistake of going by my local vintage game shop. I bought a Nintendo NES a couple of days later 😂. And then one of the generic systems that plays 95% of all NES games. They pop in the top like a Super NES and the controllers are round like SNES controllers. It works great. I use it instead of the NES since it's new and it actually works. NES was $110. GNES(Generic NES) was $20! 20 FREAKING DOLLARS! 👌

But there is no logic in the pandemic doing this to the prices.. its the same bullcrap story we tell each other over and over. Yes the prices went up I know.
@jimmyjones6086 I mean the data is all there thanks to price charting. People had much more disposable income and free time back in 2020 and resellers took advantage of it.
