Always such a weird combination of emotions seeing a collectors sell it all. You feel bummed that they're parting ways, excited to see everything together like a mural or museum, but happy that it gets to become part more collections and displays
it's def a bummer because you know it's going to go to a reseller but hopefully it goes to someone who genuinely wants to keep it and play it and share it to their kids.

Im a console guy, I don't own anything good but when I see stuff like the PC Engine with cd attachment, a Lynx, game gear (mine needs capacitors) bags of DMGS and GBAs... it's like heaven.
I would definitely go to them. Honesty goes a long way with me. Selling on eBay sucks too. Shipping and fees are crazy. Plus all of the time that goes into selling and shipping.
It’s part of owning a business he has to be able to cover expenses and make a profit most things won’t sell same day they’ll take up retail space and it’ll be a slow grind to recoup. Anything us as consumers buy isn’t what it cost to make. A burger can cost you 11 dollars and only cost 2.50 to make including cost yet you won’t feel ripped off. Just simple economics

Somehow my local game store gives 70-80% value for trades. I think since they are the only LGS in the area their turnaround is very fast because each time I go in, a lot of stuff is gone (sometimes I go in only after a few days).
Is it actually 70-80% of value or do they just say that? Like I know a store near me that says they do 70% but then I watch them give $50 for a $400 game and laugh about it. Not saying your store is as bad as the one near me, but some people are just awful

Definitely understand the Gameboys. I have a few project ones but I stop working on them because they just aren’t selling as fast as they where when Covid started. So I stop putting money into them till the market comes back on them.

I do feel bad for the dude and I am not criticizing him. I understand needing the money; I've been there, too. Not only did he sell his collection for less than half of what it's worth, but he stuck around for 6 hours + whatever driving he did. I can't even imagine wasting that much of my time to take that kind of a beating.

Important note on the PcEngine "briefcase": You need a proper power supply. If not, you get trouble running disc based games and may think you disc drive is broken!
If there was one collection I wish I could get back it would be my SNES that got carelessly tossed away by one of my relatives when they moved in to my grandmothers (I had it there so I had something to do when I'd stay the nights over).

The rock band stuff has went up far faster in value than any of the other stuff. People sleep on it hard because they think it's dead but rock band 4 is still going. Certain guitars are worth hundreds, same for the drums
When he said the super nintendo hurt the most i felt that in my sould i had life issues had to sell 160 games none of these were sports or your typical commons so it really hurt

Yep! I think alot of the comments here are from younger viewers. At the end of the day, everybody values things differently. When you get older, people just value time more. To some its not worth the work and time it would take to sell it seperately.
My 3rd cousin have that Atari that looks like Atari 2600 that was said bought 70s or 80s. That gameboy pocket gray was i think we considered original and common here in Philippines around early 90s-early 2000s. Usually the only one's who can buy it was either rich or their fathers are working as marine engineers or what we call seaman here in Philippines. When I was in my grade school days we used to play in a gaming house with all Nintendo SNES consoles and the most popular games were play are mortal kombat and killer instinct then came playstation and number 1 was Tekken 3.hehe..

The difference is that Rick actually has a huge collection filled with stuff from years of collecting. Phoenix resale just did it for the money for awhile

He built a collection of his "childhood dreams" and said he would likely sell it in the beginning but keep the stuff he cherishes. Rick is more of a collecting channel but has more of the reseller components with the addition of his store.
@@Miji43 Rick always had reselling components. That’s why the $10 game challenge grew his channel so much. He was just more down to earth with collectors than Caleb has ever been. I like both channels don’t get me wrong, but Caleb has never felt apart of the actual collecting scene

Its so sad seeing this. There had to be another way to deal with whatever he was going through. Maybe its just me but even though he seems super chill about it the way he talks about the items in detail he is devastated to have to be doing this. God id give anything for my childhood console and gaming collection back. Lost in a storage unit out of state when my mother passed away.... Had many many grails. All to play though im not into collecting just to collect dust.
Yeah and no signs of yellowing at all, that's great. I do have a pretty mint condition SNES as well but there's a tab bit of yellowing where near the controller ports.

How to get things for half price? Open a shop!
