    Ahhh… the Python. If there was only one ship in Elite Dangerous, I would want it to be this ship.

    Love seeing new people experience this game!
    Quick tip about ship modules: dont just A rate everything.
    A-rate is high performance, usually very expensive and takes a lot of power. (Good for some modules like FSD)
    B is heavy and has more integrity. Good for combat ships.
    C is designed to be balanced
    D is lightweight but more fragile. It is good for exploring since weight affects jump range.
    Hope this helps!

    • @DocScalawag
      @DocScalawag ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There are other considerations as well. Biweave shields tend to be more effective than A-rated generators. You trade overall shield strength for a significantly faster regeneration rate.

    • @TheShugoBR
      @TheShugoBR ปีที่แล้ว

      also can change the power priority of modules on the right panel on one of the tabs, to deactivate some modules when in combat, that is why you see 2 energy bars

    • @TheShugoBR
      @TheShugoBR ปีที่แล้ว

      and also would recommend to have like 2 medium gimbald lases to get rid of shields faster, and the multicannons to get rid of hull faster

    Pretty much everyone learns the lesson of “don’t fly without a rebuy” the hard way, lol.
    And a tip for combat, turning off flight assist can make you faster/more agile. Takes quite a bit of practice to learn to control though.

    Those white squares that drop when you kill a ship are engineering materials you will need for upgrades. You can use your cargo scoop to collect them until you get a collector limpet set up.

    Hi, I've been following you for a long time with the SC videos, but I'm glad to see that you're exploring Elite.
    Here is a tip that helps you in configuring your ships:
    - The ratings of the internal components A,B,C,D,E, not only mean that A is better than B, but also mean characteristics of the module.
    For example, if you want a lighter ship you have to put Class D modules, if you want more tank B is the module, but you add weight and sacrifice maneuverability. If you want more power A is the module but a matter of much more energy consumption, all these variables are recombined when you enter the world of engineering.
    The Python is a completely different ship once you have it modified with the engineers, a real beauty.

    • @Foxyloxy.X
      @Foxyloxy.X  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for these wonderful tips. I love the Python, I sold it to try other ship, but I definitely need to get it back.

  • @danielschuett

    While it's fun to run around the station and visit the ship vendor on foot, it's faster to just buy a new ship from the station menu on your ship.
    While you can use the Python for just about anything, if you don't want to switch out modules every time you want to do something else, I'd rather just get one Python for combat, one for minig, another for passenger missions, and so on.
    Ship recommendations: Krait Mk II or Chieftain for combat, maybe some anti-xeno (AX) combat; Imperial Cutter (or Type-9, if you want to feel like a space trucker) for cargo; Krait Phantom, Anaconda or maybe ASP Explorer for exploration. And the Type-10 just for the fun of flying a slow brick with a lot of armour and weapons. To play around with ship builds and also to see the effects of engineering, I'd recommend EDSY.

      @@Foxyloxy.X Definitely agree with his suggestion. Same hardpoint size/amount, much better speed/agility, similar durability in shields and armor(at bit less but more than made up for in maneaverability). Its also the ship you have in your dash holograms.
      The python is an all-purpose ship, that can definitely fight. The Krait mk2 is a combat ship, that can still do be all-purpose, it leans more combat heavy than the python basically.
      And when you branch out from combat, the Krait Phantom is the upgrade to the ASP Explorer. Its an ASP explorer with a combat ship's flight profile, a bit more optional space I think, and much better looks/engine sounds. But definitely just pick what you enjoy, and have fun experimenting.
      Thats half the fun in elite, imo. Building many ships for many purposes, and experiencing each one for different reasons. And the python is definitely a well loved ship by many. Some consider it the peak ship of the Medium class ships.

    Hey CMDR. I've enjoyed your videos so far and have tried to post comments but YT bots are having none of it.
    I can't post a website link, even if obfuscated, so the best I can do is direct you to Barry Gateway station in system Gliese 3371 where everything you buy, including a Python, is 15% off. It doesn't seem like much but that applies to purchase price now, and future cost of insurance and transport for the life of your ship. Always go to a Li Yong-Rui controlled system for the 15% discount.

    I am really enjoying your videos. Not sure if it was mentioned, but I highly recommend picking up a Pre-Engineered FSD for the Python. Gather the following materials: 18 Datamined Wake Exceptions, 26 Tellurium, 26 Electrochemical Arrays and 28 Chemical Processors; then head to a Human Technology Broker. Trade all that in for the drive. You get a MASSIVE increase in jump range. It is only available in Class 5, and you have to turn in those mats every time you want to buy one, but man is it worth it. 2:42 not a good idea. With 5 cannons you only deal kinetic damage. Which means that you don't have effective weapon against shields... If i were you i would buy at least 2 pulse or 2 burst lasers. Don't buy beam lasers, because you don't have upgraded power distributor. Lasers are pretty effective against shields, and can damage hull aswell.

    I use Python mostly for mining and trading at outposts (maximum M size pads) as this is the largest medium ship. Try out Krait Mk2 as it has the same firepower, faster and with slightly better manoeuvrability and you can bring a ship launched fighter to the ship combat experience. You also have a better central unobstructed cockpit view, a better FSD jump range with a loss of just one size 6 module compartment in comparison with the Python. Both ships are great but you can have them set up for different activities.

  • @armandoa5468

    When you're equipping your modules you can exceed the power limits of your ships power plant by setting priority of which modules you want to activated. Also you're loosing money when you sale your ship with all modules still installed....sale everything separate and get more money in your return. Since you're focused on combat start learning how to fly with flight assist off. When you want to do something other than combat learn how to core mine its relaxing and fun.

    I've been using an Asp Explorer to do all of my exo-biology travel/scanning. Good money. The Asp Explorer, with no hardpoints, has lots of range even without being engineered. I've just started learning engineering and made a few upgrades to my ship and am able to jump about 40 LY in one jump now. Best part....the ship is SUPER cheap. Other than that, I mostly use my Python for laser mining. I don't like how horrible it's maneuverability is for combat, so I stick to non-combat stuff for the python.

    When you start going to buy very expensive things it can be worth taking the extra time to buy ships and equipment from stations controlled by the faction Li-Yong-Rui, stuff sold by them are 15% cheaper and that also affects your rebuy cost. You can also sell equipment for the same cost you had bought it so don't be afraid to experiment. Another thing is the grade of the equipment has different stats and higher is not always better, D grade gear weighs the least so to get maximum jump range you often want to use D grade stuff for anything not super critical such as life support and sensors

    So Elite makes it so larger ships handle worse because of their mass. The only medium ships that handle like small ship are the fer-de-lance and the chieftain in my experience. I am partial to the krait mk II. I love the way the ship looks. I love the sound of it's engines. and I love the look of it's canopy

      I have nothing against fdl or chieftain - however FAS is locked behind federation rank. That means you have to do some sort of support for the feds to unlock it. And doing so is pure, boring grind.

    Also for best manoeuvrability use the best thrusters, keep out unnecessary weight (you will probably be just fine with a D rated sensor). Next keep your ship thrust in the blue zone around 50%, boost for faster turns, use power management (more power to engine means faster and better turns) and learn to fly without flight assist to improve manoeuvrability. Also you should start engineering important modules like FSD, Thrusters, Shields, Armour, to improve performance and other stats. You can start unlocking your first engineer (Felicity can do lvl 5 FSD and lvl 3 Thrusters and some more). Unfortunately you will need to collect (grind) materials, take your time and use online guides for faster results.

    The Python is one of the best ships in the game but isn't really a fighter - try something like a Chieftain... A good tip before you go into combat is to lock up a jump point before you get into it so you can swiftly jump out if things go wrong. I love your comments about its size - only recently went over to Odyssey and wow, my Corvette is huge! The Python is a great ship for trading (get yourself some proper money) and generally travelling around - not a great explorer (Asp X or Diamondback are great for this) - a bigger all-rounder than the Cobra. You should look up Engineering at some point.

Oh, and although much of it is really ancient now and I no longer have the time to maintain it, there's a wealth of information (including many of the links I will have thrown at you in recent comments) over in the official Frontier forums if you look for the "Alec's best of the forum (and elsewhere) [v2]" thread, pinned in "Dangerous Discussion". o7

    Watch out the module letter ratings. You don’t want to bring unnecessary weight with you, B rating has highest integrity but also biggest weight. D rated is the opposite lowest integrity and lowest weight. A rated is the best module at standard weight, C rated is similar with A but halfway. E is crap, never buy E, even D has better performance than E at lower weight.

    Most OP ships in Elite , And dont laugh , 1 sidewinder ( it does every thing you want and is quite robust can have the Advanced thrusters ) , 2 Cobra Mk III ,
    (litteraly the fastest heap of space ship in Elite when fully armoured and upgraded to the max. And capable of over 2800 armour upgrades . And still fly 416 km/s and boost 540 + . Bouncing from planets with just a few scratches)
    3. Python , the workhorse that does every thing . largest cargo capacity of any medium ship , most internals . Impresive fire power . and huge amounts of armour .
    4 The anaconda . Forget the T10 , The corvette , the imperial cutter. The anaconda is the monster you want. its build as a armoured focused ship , it has the largest jumprange when engineerd 83 -84 ly when completely engineerd, most internals 13 . one of the coldest runners in game you can get the heat down to 11 to 12 % making it ice over.
    Also the only ship with realistic damage models. its hards points are placed all around the ship up down front rear bottom
    Its the ship of choice .
