- Was out mining for the Rind CG, and encountered a CMDR in an Anaconda. Will my mining T10 be able to defend itself?
Certainly had my hands a-shakin'; this was my first-ever PvP encounter using this beast!

That was the biggest reversal in an Elite PvP fight I remember seeing.

Pirates are often more nice and I've met some that have rules against ganking and go for just genuine piracy.

That's how pirates were in real life, they usually ran when met with resistance, most ships just surrendered because they were smaller, or the captain was bitch made.

reminds me of an "EVE online" video where someone in a big ship fighting a swarm of players in small ships deliberately turned off his shield-recharger (i forget the proper name) to make them think they were winning.

@@ericb3157 I think it was a Tengu which is a Strategic Cruiser with a massive shield booster and he let them go into his armor just to let them think he was going down... keeps the little buggers happy, they waste ammo, and they don't ruin someone else's day.
I actually recognize the pirate who is attacking you. He's a pretty chill dude... For a pirate. One time when I was a bit newer to the game I was stupidly flying my type 9 without rebuy and he let me go.
They're the good sort of pirate. Pirates who... Well, pirate. They're not gankers, they just want a kind cargo donation. I'd argue they make the game much more fun.
I think they really do. I would love for more people near each other. Unfortunately I have no idea where people gather. It would be so.cool to have a group of miners being defended by an escort while pirates attack tk get the booty or something like that. Or two player factions just ripping each other to pieces for cargo or something like that.
@@honzasenbauer612 Same im currently playing the game a lot and i have no idea where people are. Ive seen a few commanders and systems full of fleet carriers but not flocks of commanders

That was one of the most epic and by the comment between you two, respectable fight I’ve seen, great on both sides!
Top tip: if you have "target next system in route" mapped to something easily accessible (which you probably do) you can and should probably take a second before you start mining to set a route in the galaxy map just in case.
I appreciate the tip, but this video is from 3 years ago. I'm not sure that binding had even been added yet, at this point (I don't remember what patch that came in from).

just elite bounty things. Players attacking people, you get a 500cr when you shoot some inocent dude (you get slightly more, yet still insignificant ammount if you kill someone). Bring that same 500cr bounty to a station and they will fuck you up because NPCs in this game don't have a sense of things

i can't help but think of a video i saw recently, "best weapons in Elite Dangerous", which said that Pac-Hound missiles are SO devastating most players will flee immediately rather than face them, because they are so hard for point-defense to stop.

I know this is only like 4 years late, but how is it that you are shooting off your ecm while it is not in your active fire group, Im new to the game and I don’t know if you have an ally in your ship shooting it off or their is a key bind to do it while it’s not in active group
You can bind it separately, iirc. I mad the mistake of binding mine very close to my silent running key.
I have a T10. And it’s not a T10 Defender, It’s a T10 Destroyer. That is it’s proper name.

It's so satisfying seeing a pirate have their arse handed to them. And by a cargo ship no less. But 500 credits seems like a slap in the face for that fight. I got 137000 for a random wanted Cobra earlier. It's so much better now they've seriously upped the payouts.

How much damage can the T-10 bloody take?! If it had been rigged for combat, rather than mining, I doubt that fight would’ve lasted half as long as it did.
That T-10 IS rigged fit mining. The T-10 can take a hell of a lot more punishment than I did of you stuff it full of defense modules instead of mining equipment. Stacking defense modules (like how shippy stacked tons of shield boosters and shield cell banks) is straight broken in Elite.

This happened to me once with my new anaconda I won but my canopy was shattered and I didn’t have enough time to get somewhere with oxygen that’s the day I learnt never fly without rebuy
It's a hard lesson to learn. Also a good lesson on why it's a good idea to splash out on your life support!

No doubt. Almost feels like the ship might be more of a mercenaries dream than a mining vessel. What better way to hustle a pirate than an over sized mining ship?
@@rallywagon261 As much as the T10 is a meme, it's great fun when used appropriately. For example, slap a bunch of turrets on it, have a small cargo rack with some basic valuables, install good shields and point defense, and just sit in haz res and watch the pirates blow themselves up by battering themselves against your sheer chonk until your turrets lock onto them with malicious intent. iirc it can carry SLFs, so equip a fighter bay and have some fun while your ship wrecks shit.
The T10 is so good at taking hits and dealing damage if you fill its optional internals with hull and module reinforcements that it can be used to AFK your way to billions of credits (and elite combat rank) in a few hours of being tabbed out while watching youtube, or mowing the lawn, or doing anything else, and it only gets better at being an immovable object with a bunch of guns strapped to it with engineering.

I'm a fan of Shippy McShipface along with FlyAuburn and many, many other PvP Pirates because I enjoy the interaction and reaction of PvP Piracy. I'd be a liar if I sat here & said I've never been destroyed 'chasing the booty' because those Cutters can be quite fiesty. Amazing video, and honestly the anticipation was killing me until the very end. Great video.. o7 🖖
Edit: I really enjoyed the Type-10 when I owned one, but like the Cutter that power distributor hurts it very badly.

I feel so dinky in my asp explorer, hardly knowing how to FS and still figuring out how a star system owned by one faction can have stations belonging to another faction in them, heck just today i figured out how to rank up with a faction

No one dares sully the name of the greatest Battlecruiser in history by sinking to piracy. Good defense, CMDR. Even with the Silent Running mishap, you redeemed the good name of James Raynor.
An amazing fight Frenotx! The Type-10 may be slow and have low manoeuvrability, but the high shield capacity and sheer amount of hard point slots make it a mobile weapons platform and a beast of firepower, excellent job. Would have been even funnier if you took out his power plant and set him adrift and left a unit of Platinum as a Calling card but nonetheless awesome to see!
Also: that was one determined and well prepped Pirate. Cudos to his dedication and hard prep work but he should have checked your modules to see if he could take you or not, an easy mistake that made all the difference.
Attacking head on a Type-10 who has weapons and an SLF is NEVER a good idea

I don't think I've ever intentionally done Silent Running; it's always been accidentally hitting the wrong button :D

Today I learned that while most things cannot be bound to the same button (even when it doesn't make sense, like the DSS front/back toggle conflicting with headlook) nothing prevents "next fire group" and "silent running" from being on the same key :P
I've certainly used it intentionally a fair amount (sneaky ships with thermal vent lasers can be fun), but clearly accidental activations can be quite dangerous!

Thanks. I wish Frontier would put some effort into balancing to make fights like this more common. One of the big reasons this was an interesting as it was is because both Shippy and I had many of our internals filled with things other than defensive modules. If we had both fully stacked all our internal slots with defensive modules, this fight would have dragged on for ages, and ultimately been pointless (since all our ships would be able to do is fight, as all our internals would be combat stuff).
Until frontier does something to address the stupidity of regular internal modules being able to be used for raw health increases (either through SCBs, reinforcement modules, etc.), interesting fights like this will only every be able to happen between people with objectively (from a combat perspective) sub-optimal builds. This is one of the big reasons I lost interest in the game quite a while ago. Cool game with a lot of cool stuff in it, most of which is undermined by catastrophically bad (yet fairly easily fixed) balance and design decisions.
All that fight and...500 cr awarded. Damn

I love the T10, awesome firepower, but a bit of a snail when trying to catch anything / run away.
We don't take into consideration how shaky our hands get in pvp when we bind our hotkeys. I've made the same mistake.
It's an important consideration!
