This reminds me of an encounter I had in the game EVE Online. I was mining with a friend once, just the two of us in a low security system, when suddenly there was a massive spike of people (like 20+ people). When we saw this, we immeadiately started aligning to the station in system to get to safety. I was in a bigger, slower, mining ship, so I had difficulty aligning. Next thing I know, just before I'm about finished aligning, the 20+ people warped in on me. They were all flying logistic ships (healers) and were using drones (5 drones each player meaning there was over 100 drones attacking me) for damage. For a good 5 minutes, they kept me warped scrambled while damaging and healing my ship at the same time. They were just trolling. After a while, I said into local chat "You guys having fun?" To which they responded by taking off their healing and finishing me off. I went back into a station right next to that system which had all of my ships in it, including a pipe-bombing Megathron (a battleship fitted to counter drone warfare). I sat at the warp gate to the system and asked my buddy if they were still in that asteroid belt. He told me they were camping the other side of the gate, and told me not to jump in because I would get destroyed. I said "Screw it, LEEROOOOOOOY JEEEEEENKIIIIINNNNS!!!!" and warped into system. When I got in, they were attacking a poor noob who was just trying to pass through the system, because the alternative route would've taken 12 jumps. I immediately uncloaked to get their agro. Sure enough, they fell for it and sent all 100 drones after me. Once I started taking damage, I dropped one round of pipe-bombs, and every single last one of their drones popped like balloons falling onto a floor of tacks. Just like that 95% of their damage output was gone. I kept dropping pipe-bombs to prevent them from sending out more drones. They kept attacking me for a good 4 minutes until I had them all down to half armor from my bombing. My buddy who was also in system brought in his own logistic ship and started healing me from a distance they couldn't reach. Then a guy I barely knew jumped into system with a Vindicator because he overheard the commotion and wanted to help me out. As he appeared, the 20 people noped out of there because they were already too weak to fight. It turned out this squad of 20 people was from Goonswarm, a really big corporation at the time in EVE. This will always be one of my proudest moments in EVE Online.

I remember seeing this video ages & ages ago thinking it looked really complicated but very interesting. Then later on I heard about how there is a player group called the Fuel Rats in this same game who willingly help others in the community. I was sold, I’ll deal with the learning curve and hit the grind. Now I’m a proud owner of a Fed Corvette and Imp Cutter! Thanks TH-cam for making this a suggestion video to start my piloting career and thank you again for bring it back so I can say thanks to the CMDR who’s video got me into this game! o7!
It's been very cool to see stories like these. I never thought any video I'd put onto TH-cam would make this sort of impact on anyone. Thanks for sharing, and keep flying dangerously, cmdr! o7
@@CorporalCrownie You can get one of the best ships not locked by faction alignment in like 8 hours iirc. I might be wrong on the time but you can still get the Anaconda within a relatively short amount of time nowadays, which used to be considered "beating the game" a while back. Getting that ship makes the game beyond easy in many ways, this video is proof. You can't get Mass locked (unable to warp) by any ship barring the faction specific large ships (might be wrong here, haven't used the Conda in awhile) and another Anaconda, you melt anything your guns face, you can take hits like a champ. The list can go on.
I think it is awesome. This was way back when I had no idea what I was doing shooting other players. I kept getting killed by an Anaconda in my sidewinder so I shipped that Gunship up there. Its been too long so I don't remember this actual encounter, but I either forgot the other guys name and was attacking all Anacondas or he wasn't around so I was attacking ships looking for a fight.
Did you end up coming to this video from the recommended next video section and just get surprised to see it was yourself, because that would be funny, or did someone tell you and link you here?
Amazing! The fact that you were clever and quick enough to note his ship, name, weapons and chaff, repair, and for him to still be there!!! And for him to shoot first to confirm his dickhead level, and then for you to win!!!! 😊 Dope as bro. So sick. Proud of ya! Go the conda
Seeing as this seems to be a pretty active comments section, if any of you lot are looking for a friendly face to float around space with: I am CMDR Krigherren. I'm fairly active and often take trips just to hang out. I'll even join up in multi-crew just to provide some company. I'm almost certainly not the best of the best, but I will very gladly help anyone who needs it, in whatever ways I am capable. Doesn't matter to me if you're a veteran player with months of play time or if you've gotten into the game just yesterday. I'm not judgmental or elitist about skill-level or ship-setup, so you don't need to worry about being nagged for not knowing exactly what to do and exactly how to do it. I will gladly provide whatever advice I can, if you want it. English is my first language, but it doesn't need to be yours, as long as we can understand one another well enough. I also enjoy taking scarab cruises on Achenar 3, watching a white dwarf sunset and sipping Void Extract Coffee spiked with Lavian Brandy from a Hutton Mug. 26/M/Achenar - Klaxians need not inquire.
:D I thought that might be it. I catch a lot of flak from Danes and Swedes about how there should be an 's', as in Krigsherren. But uh, when I did have the 's', other folks who spoke English as a first language consistently pronounced it as 'Krig Sharon', which does not work for me.
Haha, i never even thought about how English speakers would sorta struggle with that pronunciation, and considering how not cool the latter interpretation sounds, i can totally understand why you took that precaution.
This is the video that got me into Elite Dangerous and convinced me to finally buy it. Now I’ve been playing for almost a year and it’s one of my favorite games ever. I’m getting ready to take my Krait MKII out on my first adventure ever far outside the bubble! Good luck out there, CMDR Chalenor
Dude a small word of advice. You might wanna get a ship with a bit bigger jump range if you wanna go exploring. Getting back to the bubble is kinda maddening when you are 30k ly out and in a krait mk II. Speaking from experience here.
@@Guo1234bob I can second this. If you really like the Krait. The Krait phantom has the 3rd longest jump range in the game. Then the Diamondback and then the Anaconda. But the MK2 has terrible jump range. Not an explorer ship.
I don’t mind the smaller jump range honestly, yeah, it takes a long time to come back but I just can’t part with it, it’s my favorite ship in the game and I wanna take it everywhere with me. Plus, having a coffee maker right there in the cockpit is a nice addition

Yeah. If I went down to 50% and you were still at 90% even tho I was using a ship designed to kill other ships and ignore shields. I would have instantly turned and left.
Some small group of kids formed a squadron in Elite called Smelly Dog Cap or something, can't remember, but they pirate and murder a lot people however when they fail, they run from any situation they caused.
I'm facepalming watching the FGS being out positioned by a Conda again, and again, and again. Must have been the fright he got when you actually shot back.
seriously. had that guy not been a poor pilot he probably could have won after knocking the shields down with that torpedo. I mean a FGS should have been able to get in the conda's wake and never left. It's like this guy is flying a iCutter with all that jousting.
Haha it would be the equivilant of WHEN we've been in battle and a capital cruiser drops out out hyperspace to join the fight. Your initial reaction will be oh damn............. OH DAAAAMN I DON'T GET PAID ENOUGH FOR THIS!
It's been a few years since I first saw this video. I'd like to thank you for making it, as this was the first video I ever saw of Elite Dangerous. It's what got me interested into the game, falling into the hole that was videos from and about the game until eventually the steam summer sale came around and I got the game. It carried me through a lot of time alone during the pandemic while everyone was isolated indoors, and was made even more exciting with me watching through The Expanse during that time as well. Being recommended this video now brings back so many memories, remembering what it was like to see everything with the blank slate of not knowing anything about the game, and of being in awe about all I could see you could do in just this short video. Traveling on planets, flying through space, entering and exiting atmosphere, ship combat, jumping between systems, etc. It was so cool to me back then, along with you being able to locate who attacked you and get back at them. Anyway, yeah. I really enjoyed the video, and thanks for being my first experience with Elite Dangerous.
So satisfying. ED is the one game that griefing doesn't bother me in. Once you get away from the more populated systems it happens so seldom that it's actually realistic. Sociopaths? Cold-blooded killers? Yeah I expect to come across a few those in my life especially when I'm essentially in the new wild west frontier of colonized space.
@@MisterChief711 a person with "redditor" in their nickname talks about social live funny also sovapid(the guy that attacked the person in this video) already wrote that he was a newbie looking for a fight
These type of people think they are so fuckin good its good to see them get what they deserve. Honestly. Im glad they are apart of elite dangerous because it adds to the diversity. But its just sad to see them so fucking positive they will kick your ass and you give them a taste of their own medicine
I've had enough of these jerks who kill without a reason, they just take all the fun and make more and more people go into solo play, so a game that has already a scarce and low population is having less and less people interacting in a good way. Edit: I changed my mind, I don't care about people doing this stuff, it's just a game, you're only losing creadits and a bit of time. It's not like they are unavoidable, there are many ways to not get caught by greifers and gankers and I find they add that much needed sense of danger in the game.
This was never going to be a massively played game. It's a hobby game for all those who were ever going to be in it for the long haul. Not only that, I would expect a lot of people over the age of 40 (or traditionalists) would rather play in solo mode or private groups anyway. After all, it's not like the prequels were multiplayer. The last thing I'd want is some upstart destroying my ship and costing me the insurance.
Fun fact! If you untarget an enemy that has deployed chaff, your weapon gimbals disable, meaning you can then shoot them as if they were fixed! Once they stop chafing, you can retarget them for gimbaled weapons again.
I typically prefer fixed weapons. Right now, just using burst lasers with fixed cannons and prefer getting the hang of manual aiming - I thought chaff only affected missiles, but now that I know it messes with gimballed weapons, I'm probably going to keep with fixed weapons on my hardpoints for awhile
It's a shame that the game had to be ruined by gankers (such as sovapid here probably) attacking new players, but now theyve introduced the new systems for new players which nobody else can access. Also the rebuy cost is tiny there too. I used to run a PvP FDL around the Eravate system to ward off gankers, I've managed to save quite a few new players from being destroyed. But now because of the new systems I don't really need to anymore.
@@databite2549 As much as I hate gankers, there's no better feeling than ganking a ganker mid gank. You can feel the rage radiate through the internet, it's glorious. No better trolling targets than trolls, they can't handle it.
Got attacked by a griefer in a sidewinder one time. They were rated elite and I’m rated competent. Guy must have been a pretty shit pilot though because in a medium ship (I think it was my python but could’ve been my anaconda) and I was able to just get in behind him fairly easy. Ended up jumping away from me once I took his shields down and knocked his hull to 50 cause he was smaller and faster. Made me laugh that I made an elite griefer run away.
Not surprising in the least, faction was the worst about 5th Columning when i was still doing Power Play. That and Offlining and Combat Logging. Tumblr Princess sure breeds carebears.
Awesome! You reminded me of a time I was out at a Guardian site in open with a bunch of other Commanders when someone tried the same trick, I was already out in my SRV and had dismissed my Krait so I opened fire on him form the SRV. Spent about 20 mins having great fun attacking him while the other commanders got to their ships or dismissed them :)
Sovapid: Known outlaw Wanted and KOS by Adle's Armada for general griefing and sealclubbing in Eravate. In other words, a day at the races for this guy.
Seal-clubbing: Verb. The act of murdering an immobile, defenseless animal. Kind of like what he was doing to that 'Conda at the start of the video. By ramming several torpedoes down its stovepipe and then hammering into it with corrosive weapons while it was parked. I can't think of anything even remotely profitable about doing something like that outside trying to FORCE mission failures, which would only in the most marginal sense, affect the system's local power balance.
@Laura Klemin Hull seals in Elite Dangerous travel to you and repair your hull, so "seal clubbing" is the act of ruthlessly murdering a tribe of people that repair people's hull.
he might be a murder hobo, but he didn't run and didn't c log. i guess that passes for noble with murder hobos. mind you, his re buy is, at most, one third yours, so, not VERY noble.
Yeah, I'm really amazed he didn't combat log. Pleased, even. If you're gonna go PK, I respect going the distance and not cheesing it when you're losing xD
One time in a RES, somebody destroyed my ship by constantly boosting into me. That way, they would get around the wanted status, because not one bullet was fired.
Not a player in the game, but from vids i can see it this way: If you attack first a player who is peacefull, you get added to the pirate bounties list.. And whoever kills the player wanted, gets the bounty from a list. In other games players get bounty lists if someone marks you and another kills you. Here its proly system based so it auto lists and is auto payed by the ingame govt or player faction (Just a guess anyway, from other games i played)
The guy only became wanted when he assaulted Chalenor, which counts as a 400cr bounty. If he had destroyed some ships beforehand, his bounty would have been higher. Simply assaulting players/NPCs is counted as 400cr to avoid people being overpunished for friendly fire incidents, it's the kills that get pirates to higher bounty numbers.
Cheers man. The reason that guy was not wanted anymore is the same as in my first comment: not to overpunish players for friendly fire, a bounty this small lasts for about 10 minutes and to get rid of it, you just need to jump out of the system to be completely clean again when the timer runs out.
Tomasz Karpiuk however, the value of the bounty will be converted into a legacy fine, which you will be forced to pay when you respawn under that jurisdiction.
I'm surprised they didn't try to get the hell out of Dodge after a certain point. I've had little encounter with other PCs, but I know I'd never try to grief anyone on purpose.

Paracelsus the amount of people that do that stuff is actually few. About 95% of the people i find are nice and a bunch of them i've either had casual conversation with, taught or showed them a few things, where do get stuff, or in one case even played a whole different game together. Any game will have its assholes, thankfully this playerbase isnt plagued too bad with it
Perhaps the one you've dispensed indiscriminate justice on was the actual victim, trying to get some easy payback on the other one you saved. No way to tell if that was really the case, but seems to me like a good explanation for the ungrateful reward you got. ha But knowing how some people behave in games, it's probably still more likely they were both scum.
They need to build a mechanic that rewards players for declaring hostility before they actually fire. This kind of thing sucks, just a player out of nowhere attacking for no reason. They will soon find less people to play with until the servers shut down. But, by far the worse part, the reason I only play on solo is station rammers. Literally every time I play on open at a CG I get rammed by some station rammer, just as I go a hair above the speed limit. I Lose my ship filled with cargo from the station defenses and I now have a bounty with the CG station. The guy was still there when I snuck in, so I had a chat. Apparently enforcing the speed limit on open, in a game with a declining player base is a thing he feels is justified. He complained about people that ignore the speed limit, causing a hazard to players without shields, and yet station ramming is a far greater hazard then letter box collisions ever was. I mean, who the fuck goes into a CG station in open without a shield?
@@spysareamyth If you're speeding and hit another player by accident, it's considered a crime on your behalf and you'll be wanted. It was placed to prevent people from doing it on purpose.
A player did that to me once, he used a fed assault ship. Was really close with my escape hit me when I was away from ship, had about 20% hull left. Returned and took him down (just like you had a PVE conda and HUGE amount off armor so ramming and firing to take him down) But I just HATE it when someone hits you like that
So what happens in PvP when you destroy their ship, do they eject and you can use the cargo scoop to take their escape pod and sell them on as slaves to dictatorships? Even though they weren't other real players, that's how I made money in the first game... BACK IN THE 1980's! That'd learn 'em. It would be a great feature to include really. Not played it since the recent update though.
Yeah. I like that. Thank you Cmdr for showing me the way because another Cmdr attacked my ship while I was looking at my map, like you, doing your own thing. These CMDR's don't deserve their flight wings.
Oh wow someone was really trying to grief. I used to just screw around in a sidewinder for kicks. Waited for the SRV to dock to the anaconda and shot the ship a few times. They boosted into me instantly destroying me. Wanted to suicide back anyway since it was quince.
Yep. The game is just not built for proper PvP in mind. 400 credits for an ahole attacking someone minding their own business? Ridiculous. I get more for trespassing... it's worse than the Wild West was - there you would never clear your name after such an assault. This is actually what fuks up most open games, like GTA. Human's wouldn't go after you just for laughs because they know they risk something. Most people are not lunatics so yea, that reason is no good. But a player who has nothing to lose (or when it's like Dark Souls blatantly favoring the attacker...) will do it and it ruins the whole thing. Not just simply making life harder but ruining the immersion as well. Having a misfire, hitting someone by mistake, sure it should give a minor fine. But if they were selected that fine should be ten times higher already. Second shot should double the fine and if you cause 5-10% damage to shields it should get a 10x multiplier at least. On the other hand I hate this "we see everything" stuff. If there is constant security monitoring present in every system, then how come we have to transport data manually on our ships? If the technology exists to constantly communicate with police systems then it makes no sense since then everyone else would use this tech. You can certainly buy a kill warrant scanner easily so it is not some secret stuff! And if that works why is there no other way of communication? Like actually calling for police... I personally would like it more if there was no immediate fine when you attack someone. Piracy would be better that way, you could really just kill everyone and disappear. BUT if you are revealed and get a wanted status properly then it should cause you actual trouble. Not like here... I mean how come that Sidewinder NPC pirates have thousands of bounty on them? Seriously, how do you not die instantly with that kind of status? They had to keep getting fines by firing on everyone they came across (they certainly didn't destroy anyone) so I find it unbelievable to have that much bounty without dying in such a flying coffin - while not losing that wanted status while hiding or running away. Anyways, the criminal stuff wasn't thought out well in the game. It's not the only one but we do have the private game option so we can still enjoy the game without thinking about it much. But it still pisses me off since it wouldn't be so hard to actually make it better. But since it's their game and not mine I can only whine. And buy laser colors for swag. That too I can do.
Sometimes I think people that play these kinds of games are self-hating masochists. Why else would anyone spend dozens of hours building up a profile just to have it all fucked up in a few minutes by a griefer?
Kokuyous3ki Lmao how does dark souls benefit the attacker if you think that you must be complete garbage... host has double the estus, ember, phantoms and they can switch to the way of the blue the moment they get invaded.

I sat at the warp gate to the system and asked my buddy if they were still in that asteroid belt. @@CorporalCrownie yea i agree so hard to overcome laziness

Interesting, being from, and IN Norway myself, i couldn't help but notice your nickname!

@@Guo1234bob I can second this. If you really like the Krait. The Krait phantom has the 3rd longest jump range in the game. Then the Diamondback and then the Anaconda. But the MK2 has terrible jump range. Not an explorer ship.

Its because the punishment for doing it is pathetic. Hopefully the new crime system will prevent morons like this.
Thats why they are making it so the person that destroys your ship has to pay a part of the insurance towards your rebuy.

400cr bounty, wtf is that!?
Not a player in the game, but from vids i can see it this way:
If you attack first a player who is peacefull, you get added to the pirate bounties list.. And whoever kills the player wanted, gets the bounty from a list.
In other games players get bounty lists if someone marks you and another kills you.
Here its proly system based so it auto lists and is auto payed by the ingame govt or player faction
(Just a guess anyway, from other games i played)
The guy only became wanted when he assaulted Chalenor, which counts as a 400cr bounty. If he had destroyed some ships beforehand, his bounty would have been higher. Simply assaulting players/NPCs is counted as 400cr to avoid people being overpunished for friendly fire incidents, it's the kills that get pirates to higher bounty numbers.
Tomasz Karpiuk oh ok thanks. You would think he would still be wanted for his first attack...

First an only rule of Elite Dangerous: NEVER ATTACK A SHARK BIGGER THAN YOU
They need to build a mechanic that rewards players for declaring hostility before they actually fire.
Yeuch that is so douchey

Kokuyous3ki yep. Same reason I about in-game voice chat if possible. People suck lol
Sometimes I think people that play these kinds of games are self-hating masochists.
Why else would anyone spend dozens of hours building up a profile just to have it all fucked up in a few minutes by a griefer?
manictiger well he said that he had enough money to do this with out a loss
Kokuyous3ki Lmao how does dark souls benefit the attacker if you think that you must be complete garbage... host has double the estus, ember, phantoms and they can switch to the way of the blue the moment they get invaded.
That little bit of opsec to obscure the system was perfect, lol.
There is no way a slow moving Canada should be able to outmaneuver an experienced fed assault ship

It’s always nice to see justice be served!
o7 cmdr
Well done, nice ramming action
Oh yeah, Sovapid. He's a real troll! You can find him on the forums.
so this dudes infamous or something? cause from what i saw here the only thing hes got going for him is Shield breakers
No he isn't and you're just making it up for internet points :)
I already love this game, but you make it look so much cooler xD
I just wanted to say I been playing elite since original on c64 just got into this modern one, forgive my emotion but it’s all my childhood dreams come true, I played with my dad , me as co jockey bring back some powerful memory’s . I love your videos and can only admire how advanced your tactics are. I’m still just delivering stuff. I was elite on c64. I got a lot to learn. I can now land like a hover fly tho. Thanks for vid.
My recommendations: What about Elite:Dangerous - Justice video?
I faced some jerk, calling himself a member of *Space Lions*
At begining he was polite, giving me some tips I knew already. I thanked him and said I know, not all but still learning. I was in well shielded krait and he was in well engineered python and we were facing each other while chatting. In a less than a half second he destroyed my shields and hull was less than 50%, and then he were running for jump. I went after him and fired two seeker misiles. He returned and destroyed my ship with ease. Then he were judging me how I am bad person, how can I shoot someone from the back, that's not legal blah blah.... . I just tried to explain I wanted to shoot back for his bad action, but he was negotiating and telling me that every time he finds me, he'll kill me. And it was happening. He was chasing me and killing me few times, while my budget went pretty low paying insurance. Since then (maybe 4 or 5 months ago) I play only solo. Before accident, while we had normal chat, he were arguing he plays ED since 1984 and knows this game better than anyone.
Players who attack your ship even when you're not in it should be booted off the the game. Idiots! They bring absolutely nothing to the game...
Except variety and excitement? An exhilarating challenge to beat the shit outta some loser?
Three years later and this vid has over a million views but the poor guy only has 900 some subs. This man deserves some more notoriety!
I do wonder what made this specific video blow up in recommended, haha...
I love the Carma felling you gave him short after he attacked you and well played as well, like usual the old good one..... do not underestimate no one anywhere and never because every pot have a lid like the dude proven it,always is something stronger out there then yourself no matter in game or in real life.
I am happy that you took out that ASS Hole! Someone did the same to me one time and I did what you did.
this has to be the coolest PC game ever
I honestly wish this game wasn't as boring as it is.. i would like to get that far but it takes forever to grind up.
you think thats bad
700 hours ingame and i still cant get to sol because the devs made it near impossible to get the fucking permit
Shoot other players. Makes the game a lot more exciting!
MWB Gaming: Not really, I've only had the game for about 3 weeks and I'm in Sol. I had enough Federation rank exp built up during those first two week that when I did the Rank missions, I got up to Chief Petty Officer in less than 2 days. Started doing Rank missions on Thursday night, was in Sol by Saturday afternoon.
500 hours in federation and still no permit
WTF?
I got the permission to Sol 200 hours in without even knowing why.
This was true 1 vs 1, the one which happen once over a hundred fights, enemy takes the defeat like a bawz. As fellow EVE-O Pirate, respect to both pilots, conda CMDR especially, for perfectly executed payback!
As a certain lieutenant commander once said, "PREPARE FOR RAMMING SPEED!!!"
Huh, I know this dude, actually helped me get into PVP. No idea why he would do this
quien es?
@@sovapid ^^^ that 'dude'
He was dying to a anaconda in the system so he went ham and cheese
Hmmm maybe I should give this game a go
Well, did you?
YES! this was the first gameplay of elite I have ever seen and it got me hooked to the game! I am so glad it reappeared in my recommended page!
Wow, i found it. This is the video that got me into Elite many years ago, I now have over 5000 hours logged. Not sure if I should be grateful or angry at you 😂
finaly got an anaconda and got it shot out of the sky because i forgot i was in open play. first bloody social interaction i had in game was "lol you die now". so good on you good sir for kicking his arse.
If there is one sin I need to control in my life, it is Wrath. Seeing a vengeance tale like this just tickle me so though!
Well done, that's one of the best paybacks I've seen, flipping awesome😁
last year about november ish, this was the very first elite video i watched
since then i have bought the game with horizons and have 1800 hours logged
so thanks 😀
A well earned victory for a well named ship
Nice comeback! He wasn't expecting that, I'm sure.
The only pvp encounter I've had was when I was flying my type 7 into Cleave Hub and a guy in a Crait interdicted me. I got away but then as I dropped out of super cruise at the station he drops out right behind me, and started shooting me, luckily I was close enough to the station that they were not going to take his behavior lightly. He started taking damage from the station turrets and the security ships shortly before he frame shifted out. I don't know what he thought was going to happen. Lol
