Impressive technique. Thanks for showing the problems and solutions. I get tired of watching perfect projects, when mine rarely are.
So refreshing to see that I am not the only one to have a piece fly off. Not many turners show the faults.
I just had a premature launch this morning. 😄 Thankfully I was finishing a wood mallet, so I knew it was going to experience much worse in its future.
Thanks for the great demonstration. I really like acorn boxes.
Pretty cool
Great video! I really like your little box ……. Great work 👍🤠
Mike Peace recommended your channel, after watching this I subscribed! Thank you look forward to learning from your great works. Thank you!
Good to see you back at the videos mate!
Very nice. I like your technique. Looking forward to your next video.
Great looking Acorn you got there!
Nice wood acorn turning working, I really like the depth gage. Then I noticed the fluid movement of your fingers on the little screw, it’s the little thing’s living life slowly changes like dexterity. I’d like to have more. No worries 😉 I just work slower, great work and keep enjoying what you do.
That came out awesome Brother!
Nice job
Oooph!!!! That’s how you do it! Yep, I gotta try me one of these 🥰🌲🦊🌲 thanks for sharing, Darryl x
Thanks for watching. I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
Cool! I loved it!
That's a neat little box, could use one of those for my earplugs =D
Great idea!
At first I was going to say that you could have easily parted the round bottom off w/o the use of a jam chuck…..but, then I saw the little nubbin remain and thought “aagh ha” - he’s keeping the little nubbin just like on an acorn. 👍. Nice job. Ps - nice smooth tool work, long smooth cuts. Keep on turning.
As always your work is fantastic!
Nice looking acorn Darryl. It just kept jumping off the lathe.
It always inspires me watching videos on wood turning. So satisfying and calming to watch. I just had to subscribe. Great video and a stunning piece mate
Thank you and welcome to the channel!
Very cool dred. I need to make me one of those ✌️
Neat little box. How come you chose to make a mortise for a jam chuck when turning the bottom of the body instead of a tenon?
No particular reason, that is just the way that I always employ the jam chucking technique for boxes.
Awesome video. What is the finish you use?
Is your bowl gouge gold plated?
No it is Titanium Nitride coated providing an incredibly sharp cutting edge.
