Woodturning an Acorn Box

- Wood turning and some carving too. I use maple and walnut to make an autumn themed acorn box in this video. I thought the lathe would be enough, but when I thought I was done, I found out I really wasn't and had to break out the carving chisels.
I upload on Friday almost every week. Mostly wood turning, but my projects usually involve more that the lathe. So if you like what you see, please subscribe and maybe share...help my channel grow! It would help me a lot, and if you click the notification bell, you'll know when I upload.
OB Shine Juice: Equal parts of clear shellac, boiled linseed oil, and denatured alcohol...just that simple. Thanks Cap'n Eddie!

Wow! What a difference the texture made. It looked great before but after the texturing it looked amazing. Great work.
Memories came flooding back from my childhood. My Grampy was a woodworker and I spent many hours down in the basement 'helping' him. I got to clean up alot and the best time was when I got to apply the 'shine juice'. I firmly believe that my appreciation and love of most 'hand-made' items (especially wood) comes from spending all those years with him. Thanks!

I like the way you work , look so easy , sequences so smooth , the box after sanding really shiny , beautifull doesn't need apply any oil , and I like that nature look , thk's Mr Humphrey .

What really fascinates me...each piece of wood has its own color, weight, shading, knots, slubs, age, and 'spirit'. Watching it come to life under your hands is such a delight!!! I find it better than any calming meditation. Your skilled hands, and comforting, wise voice, telling viewers what you are doing, and why..well, speaking for myself, it is such a marvelous tonic, for the hassles in our hectic world..And hey, RH...I should know - we live in downtown NYC!!!

Very nice nice turning and amazing carving. That was a great choice to do the carving it really added to the overall look.
Autumn colors are amazing . We recently drove through Colorado and saw the brightest yellow colors in the trees.
Even managed to get some photos of them reflecting on a small lake.
I was looking forward to getting home and checking in on my favorite TH-cam channels.

@@RHumphrey I'd suggest putting a lengthy greeting in the description of each new video. It gets people's attention and we like seeing and reading a welcoming!! Just an idea. Have fun and Ill be in the background watching your channel grow. Personally, I'd love to see you turn a small circular fan complete with an off/on switch and L.E.D. lights made from dark walnut and light blue epoxy resin... I think that would be incredible. !!

WOW... next level is right. I have been taking walks and connecting acorns for my backyard squirrels, since I have no oak trees in my yard. They stash them quickly once provided. Thanks for the wonderful video.

You have turned one of my all time favorites to do, a box, and what a box it is!!!!! 2 years ago I thought my turning days were done when I had no breath left to climb the stairs to my basement place of fun (nonsmoker). Then had a large mass removed from my throat (benign!!) I so look forward to every piece of firewood I turn now , successful or not, I am so grateful. I am making bracelets for all my friends at work that helped me and my doctors. I am just a rank amateur, but it is so much fun. Thank you for all your inspiring videos.
