  • Thank you so much for watching and subscribing! This is my 9th filmed project and my first attempt at an acorn box. I used the trial and error method for fitting the lid instead of using calipers since it was so important to get the fitment just right. Anyway, it turned out pretty well in the end, and I hope you enjoy the process!
    I'm absolutely blown away by how many people have subscribed, commented, and liked! Thank you all very much! If you're not a subscriber, please consider becoming one! Also, consider liking and commenting, since that will help my channel grow!

    • @DavidAdamsen
      @DavidAdamsen  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rickhickman2730 I really only use three tools for most things. 1) You need a bowl gouge. A good bowl gouge with a grind that works for you will do practically everything you need to do. 2) A parting tool will help you save wood and make mortises and tenons. 3) A scraper will help remove tool marks from curves or "flat" surfaces. These are the big three, in my opinion. Another really helpful tool is a skew chisel, which helps smooth curves, refines mortises and tenons, and helps with detail work. In fact, I relied on a skew chisel for most detail work before I became comfortable with the spindle gouge.

    Absolutely beautiful! Beeswax and Orange Oil. Is that your own concoction? Can you share your recipe, and which oil you use?

    Hey David, if you live in Maine why is your Etsy page set to euros instead of USD? That looks pretty sweet. How big and what's the species is the wood? What are you going to do about keeping the box upright?

      Hi! That's interesting... I just verified my Etsy settings are at USD with the correct time zone. For this project, I used maple burl. I intentionally left no base on the acorn since the lid holds firmly enough in whatever position the acorn is in. So, no need to keep it upright.

    Your using a bedan (what I know as bedan anyway) @ 1:16! get it rubbing flush and cutting with the corner tip, the finish will blow you away, sanding after it seems like violation!
