I so admire this young man’s courage. To my mind, one’s sexual orientation is similar to being right- or left-handed. Irrational homophobia causes so much psychological suffering and pain (as in Jacob’s case). This young man is NOT one of the world’s problems, but homophobia IS. On the EVIDENCE of the science of the matter, Jacob can no more change his sexual orientation than any of us can change the colour of our skins. With this I send a special comforting hug for you, Jacob.
I feel like I'm seeing myself in the mirror. I'm 31. I have not come out yet to my family. But I have come out to my closest friends. I loved hearing this, Jacob!
I am so glad that you made it through the many trials you have faced in life. May God always watch over you and keep you safe. I wish I had seen your video when I was in eighth grade. To be historically accurate and honest: When I was in eighth grade, I wish I had read your story chiseled on a cave wall. It would have given me strength to get through the hard times, to love myself much more, and to face the velociraptors without screaming like a little girl.
I know your video is over a year old but I just saw it for the first time. I have so much respect and adoration for you that I'm not sure I can even put it into words. Thank you so much for sharing your story and such a pivotal moment in your life. This was so powerful I felt like you were talking directly to me. And all of the positive comments after just made this whole experience worth while. You truly made my night. God Bless and best of luck!!
You are an amazing human being. You have every right to be proud of who you are. The world is a better place because of your sincerity, your courage, your humanity . You are a gift to mankind.
Jacob, be proud of yourself! You are obviously an intelligent and caring young man. I am 74 and grew up and graduated high school in 1955. I knew I was different when I was 5 or 6 and it bothered me also. I went into the Air Force and served honorably for 4 years and when I got out I worked my way through college. I ended up with a doctorate in computer science. We are everywhere, doctors, lawyers, senators. Always be true to yourself. God bless you.
JACOB -- Simple, quietly eloquent, direct, honest, and very moving. Good for you. I am a 70-year-old American now living in Great Britain. And yes, I love you back. -- Donald in Cardiff
Jacob, You brought tears to my eyes. You are such a beautiful person outside, but most of all INSIDE. I hope you have people in real life you can talk to and celebrate who you are. All the best!!
But can he love himself after all the negative Christian indoctrination? Christianity is so removed from what Christ intended. So mean and narrow and heartless and just plain Godless.
Your kindness, honesty, and peace of mind will definitely inspire others. Loving one self is not always easy. You are a testament to goodness. You are REAL.
@@redhood8141 Thank you sir. I am well. One day at a time. I understand this fine young man and feel for him. He is handsome yes, outside. His heart yearns for so much more. My tears flow for him and now for you. We care, we try so hard, we give. We receive. Oh so much do we receive. Thank yoi.
I am sure that your courage and your honesty will bring comfort and courage to many other young people. Thank you for this. You did an incredible and articulate job of being who you are. Anyone who fails to love that was never worth your love to begin with.
I loved this video so much Jacob and I love you for making it to help others. In fact a week or so after watching it I came out on social media, first day of June, Pride month. I am 56 years old and knew I was Gay at 15 but due to some traumatic events in High School I stayed in the closet for 35 years. Came out to family at 50 and my best friend from HS at 55 and now everyone else at 56. Best thing I ever did. A huge weight lifted off my shoulders, finally being me for the first time in my life, out and proud.
Love from Holland! I am impressed by the way you express yourself, choosing and tasting your words as you move through your story. Beautiful. I wish you a fearless life!
Of course I love you back! It couldn't be otherwise. Wearing your heart on your sleeve like you did on this video almost made me stretch my arms towards the monitor, wanting to hug you. I don't know if you're in a relationship at the moment, but if you are, he's the most fortunate guy on the planet.
This video sends out a message that is immortal, about love, about people and about acceptance. This video is a representation of everything I have hope for in this world. Thank you Jacob you are amazing. We love you.
Thank you for sharing with us. You are amazing and have such integrity. Your strength and all the positive comments are so encouraging. You did great. You keep being you and keep being honest with yourself.
I am 50yrs old now, and I come from the same background, so I can see just where you are are coming from. It makes me happy to see young people like you who have escaped from that prison, and have done it while they are still young. god bless you. ( the real God, not the one in peoples religion, the one that said love one another, as I have loved you.) mark
Very moving video Jacob, I hope everything's well with you and the people you love can love you back! We've all gone through the same thing and even you will see it gets better. All the best and lots of love from Sweden!
You are a sweet beautiful person, you don't need to tear yourself down for something that is just one more part of yourself that makes you who you are which is a valuable human being worthy of love
Wow! I felt goosebumps!!! The way you speak to the camera and the way you show your feelings really got me. I could feel your despair and your need to show the world who you are without hiding and without faking... Seeing you like that makes me want to hug you, to show you there are people that can accept *you*, however you are. You seem like a sensitive, beautiful human being and i'm sure someday you'll find the man of your dreams. Greetings from Argentina!
You come across as a very sensitive person. I do not see how anybody could hate you for not being straight. My hope is that, in time, you will come to really love your sexuality and yourself. Big virtual hug.
What a beautiful heartfelt message. I admire you so much for being brave and accepting who you are. I'm sure you will find so many who admire and love you. Have a great life and be proud of being honest and liking yourself.
It's very forthright video. Even more so, your inner conflict and somber conveyance of this message is truly palpable. Brutha, always live your best life.
You're the brightest person ever. You're sweet, kind, gentle. I really admire you. What a beautiful human being you are! You're worthy of best things. And I'm thankful for your coming out.
This is a lot how I used to feel about myself. Great coming out story, Jacob. Thanks for sharing a part of yourself and you help encourage others to be genuine with themselves and others as well. It feels good to be who you were born to be. Peace and take care.
I have watched many coming out videos, but yours touched me the most out of them all. Even as an out guy, this video made me cry. You put so much emotion in this video. Thank you for posting it, not for me, but for others who haven't found the strength yet.
this video is powerful... im so glad you finally were able to accept yourself. i went through all of those self hating thoughts and emotions also and i still have some lingering issues but for the most part i am comfortable
Jacob!!!! I'm so proud of you and I'm so glad everything is going well. This video brought tears to my eyes. I can just see how honest and genuine you are. I just wanted to give you a big fat hug! I wish you all the best and many great years ahead. Lots of Love from Atlanta, Wes
When I finally came out to my family and friends, I could finally start to live. No more secrets or lies. I hope you can feel the weight has lifted, now you will live for you and those you love. And to those who can't love you back, well, good riddance. Leave them behind and find joy. Blessings to you brother...
I really admire your strength and bravery. I seriously almost cried, out of happiness than you could accept yourself and out of sadness that we in some people eyes will longer be looked on as human. But times flows on and the sands are changing, which makes be hope for a better future. Thank you for your story.
Dear Jacob, The most sincere, well spoken, and articulate “Coming Out” confessional I do believe I’ve heard from someone so young but at the same time mature and self confident. "Good on you” Jacob! I wish you love, fun, and happiness. Yours, Malcolm McKay, Nassau, The Bahamas
Hi Jacob, Wow, congrats on the progress you've made so far in coming out to family and friends. I still say that living an out gay life is easier then ever now, but uttering the words "I'm gay" is still one of the hardest things you'll ever do. I was 4 years older (26) when I came out and luckily met my life partner a year later. We celebrate 32 years together this December. I hope things go well for you!
This is a powerful statement delivered in a most effective way, young man. All stories of this genre should be presented this way. I'm now subscribed and will binge on all your videos until I know your whole story. Hope you're well and leading a fulfilling life in the intervening years. Don Hern from East TN.
Jacob, you are a very brave, loving, strong, and caring person. I absolutely understand your terror in not being able to get "that" feeling to go away. I am NOT out and hate myself every single day because I cannot defeat this feeling. I have thought of suicide, but rejected that idea as weak. But, I am so happy that you are free and able to release a pressure that confined your heart for so many years. When I am brave enough, when I can love myself ... I, too, will be as brave as you. God Bless
Wow, can feel all the emotions from you in your voice. You're a very nice looking guy that has nothing to be nervous about. You have a lot of people willing to support you. I hope other young people see this and learn something. We all find ourselves when we're meant too.
The biggest problem is we've been told for our entire lives by the majority of society that we are wrong or improper. It's what makes it hard or awkward to say "I'm gay" even to ourselves. Time makes it easier to say that and be our true selves. It's truly amazing how many people really don't care, when you think about it. Maybe that was just my experience but I never would have imagined that of everyone I've told (many people), not one has been unkind or taken a distaste to my presence. I'm glad you're able to be out and true to yourself!
Stay strong! You're strong and brave! :) Watching this video made me tear up. I understand what you're feeling. It takes courage and true self respect and loving to be able to do what you just did ^^ Love
Thank you for sharing this! I related a lot to your story in many ways, fighting an internal battle and coming to the conclusion that it's not something that I can change. I came out recently and I have found that is getting better. Being open and honest about who you are is one of the best feelings.
Thanks so much, I think your story is very inspiring. I subscribed! I realized when I made my own coming out video, I should be so lucky to have so many supportive people around me. I wish you all the best!
Amazing story of you Jacob… your story really touch my heart. my tears drop because of the emotion of you that express that you want every one to accept who you are. you're wonderful person, smart, and beautiful human. Much love.
Congrats, I hope you have the happiest life you can have. I was the same age when I came out and haven't regretted one minute. It made me feel alot better about myself and happier about who I am.
i know how you feel. i had my coming out with 28. only a few month ago. its so hard at the beginning and it gets easier. im still working with it and beeing proud of myself. its so amazing beeing able to stop hating yourself, for something you cannot change.
Thank you soooo much for sharing the beautiful person that you are with us. I applaud your bravery and will support you if no one else does. We are people and deserve love and respect. You have both from me. Congratulations and Good Luck!
Just discovered your video and I love you and accept you. I went through what you went through a long time ago. You made a decisive choice to be who you are and love who you are. You will experience acceptance and some rejection - but from all you've said, I believe you can deal with all of it and remember those friends who reject you - were anot true friends. Your true friends will remain friends because of who you are not what you are. Be proud of yourself-you're brave to own your life.
Great job in sharing your story. I watched it all because it felt very genuine and honest, open. I'm sure you feel a weight lifted off your shoulders. I'm sure you'll inspire and give strength to other. Your a good looking guy and I think people will love you and will find you have more friends. Chin up and keep sharing you experiences, good or bad.
We all go through that. Its not easy to accept as it goes against our biology, but the sooner you accept it, the better you will feel about yourself. It took me a few years to accept and till this day I still go through some struggles... Its the whole world against us. Hang in there buddy... Just by posting this video, it shows what a strong man you are! Bless you
Way to go! I waited until I was 41 to come out. Even got married and had 2 kids thinking it would just go away. Your story touched my heart as it sounded just like mine during my early and teen years. You have to feel like a huge weight has been lifted from your shoulders.
Jacob - I stumbled across this video when I was watching some other videos tonight. I am so glad to see you at an earlier time in your life as it gives me a glimpse into how you have become the extraordinary man that I know today. I am so glad that I know you and that I call you my friend, you dear, sweet man.
Thank you for your courage to post this coming out video. You are loved and welcomed, and don't let anyone tell you that there's anything wrong with being gay. It is by staying in the closet and remaining silent that we allow others to believe that there is something wrong with being gay. It isn't healthy to live in the closet, to erect barriers to keep others from knowing the real you. It isn't easy accepting ourselves at first, but by letting ourselves be known we can move forward!
This is awesome! I felt the exact same way. You are definitely accepted. Look around and see people's attitudes are changing for the better. May you be happy, Jacob. :-)
Jesus Jacob! It’s 2020 now but your video is still fresh and encouraging. I admire the straightforwardness of your thoughts and speech. It really would have made a difference for me if I had run into videos like yours earlier. I think your genuine honesty will make a difference for me. So thanks a lot and good wishes to you. Martin
Good for you! It was a long journey for me accepting myself too, but am happier than ever for it. You should never be ashamed of who you are. Greetings from the UK.
Jacob -- You just now (2020) appeared on my screen and your face led me to listen to your story. Your voice was so tired fading, I'm sure you had comments and outreaches that could pull you up and set you on your feet again. I'd like to imagine you found a love and life since this video. I get a heartglow every time I hear a brother got through a period of emptiness. Love and light to you! -- New York James
So many people identify with your story, including myself. Everything you said is exactly what others and myself feel before coming out. It's a great feeling finally being able to fit into your own skin! I hope I am as articulate when I come out to my parents.
I am just now finding and watching this video some 9 years after you made it. I hope you have prospered and done well since. You really touched my heart and it reminded me of how hard it was for me when I was growing up in a small town and school.
Thank you for sharing your coming out experience. It was honest and from the heart and it took a great deal of courage. I hope you have been able to find peace and comfort within yourself and with those who are important to you.
I love the color of your shirt, it suits you perfectly! Jacob, you are a beautiful person and I hope you found the right person to love you for who you are and not condemn you or judge you.
heyyyyy,buddy..thx for speaking out ur true feeling to us..it's really difficult..actually i guess things in China are more easily to be accepted..but anyway, we can't make all the people love us, and i'm sure no one can be loved by all..so,just keep being urself with ur courage, honesty, kindness, let people know we are worth "LOVE"!!
this is the first time ever i write a post on youtube...i didn't do it before cause every video i saw wasn't as worthy as yours...u really touched my heart...and made me cry...which is not a really simple thing to do...i really see a lot of myself in u and thank u for your amazing words...they are the perfect ones for someone who needs help and confort...i wish u the best in life and that you can find a guy that deserves u cause there are a few like u right now...
love is love , it is not different, love comes from the heart! Do NOT even THINK that is something wrong! It is pure love what you are feeling!! We love for who you are! RESPECT to you!
Jacob, I seen a lot of "Coming out videos". Your coming out video is the best. You put a lot of thought what you was going to say in every word. That shows me you sincre what you said. No hating you. Yes love you back. Proud of you for coming out. Thank you for serving our country. We need more people like you. I wish you the best in your future.
Good for you, Jacob ! Congratulations on your coming out story, and your very personal story you shared so openly and beautifully. You are now free, and owe no explanations to anyone. You are who you are and you are loved. If there are haters, they are the losers for not getting to know you and love you as you are. You are courageous, very sweet, honest, handsome, and very lovable, and I hope you have a fantastic life just being YOU ! Yay, Jacob ! !
Great! You are amazing!!! It took me 24 years to come out, and it's true there are family, and friends who don't want you anymore, but most people do...I love you! Your message is great!!!
I feel so identified with this video. I'm pretty much going through the same at the moment and all the same thoughts you just expressed have gone through me as well. Thank you :)
I just found your video today, nearly eight years after you made it. I trust by now, that your well past the uncertainties and enjoying a productive, rewarding life. I also hope you're in company of good friends, and still close to your family.
I really felt your hesitation there....god I know that feeling. You're an amazing guy and you had a shit load of courage to do that. Nothing to worry about. You're an inspiration :D
What you are doing to help others on their journey is truly beautiful. I do not know you so this may hold no meaning, but i am truly proud of you. You have worn your heart on your sleeve and been truly vulnerable in order to make others live easier and that is something that I am sure will touch many. Your sexuality does not define you, but your actions do, Your actions show that you are a giving, selfless, and generous soul and I believe that you will reap the benefits of such. Mad respect bro!
You are so beautiful. With your looks and smile you will never be lonely. I hope you find an awesome guy to spend your life with. Sure wish I had friends like you when I was your age and didn't understand why I had to be so alone with this burden. Videos like yours help others. Even me. Thanks for your courage.
I'M APPROACHING, THE BIG - 50 - Next Year and am Just Now Learning To Face this REALISATION, Myself :) You're So Brave Jake' & This Ole'Guy Sallutes You, for having the courage to Stand UP and be True to WHO You REALLY ARE *****
Jacob, you know you've absolutely made the right decision & for what it's worth I admire & respect you so much.Sadly for too many of us we're forced to live under external negative opinion which, even worse, can often lead to physical/verbal attacks. So it's NOT overstating the fact that whenever someone does decide to come out it is a truly courageous act. Those who genuinely care for you will know that you're STILL you & they will continue to support you.I wish you continued happiness.
It took guts ... courage ... nerves of steel to do what you did at your age! i guess it was not easy for you nor anyone. did you make this for your family and friends? hope they accepted you as you are. your virtue of honesty is to be commended. all the best to you!
boy u literally almost made me cry.... i have been wanting to be true to my self for years and havent and im 19 already and im still in struggle just because of the hateful environment that im in ....but u stay strong and thanks for this vid it gave me a little bit of extra courage
Hi aftreffect. Thank you for your wonderful and genuine video! I can see that took a lot of courage and was from your beautiful heart. Everything you said was almost exactly what i'm going to be telling my parents next month. Like you i've struggled with it for a long time but i'm now happy with who i am. Hope to see more videos from you. :-)
is exactly what most of us gay people go through , listening to you i feel like those word are coming out of my mouth , i am glad you did come out i wish i could have done it when i was your age, but being now 32 i am tired of carrying this huge amount of wight on my shoulders for such long time , and i know i am ready now to tell my family who I really am .
i just watched your coming out video and it seemed very emotional for you, you will feel much better with yourself for your honesty and will help others as well you are a beautiful young man and i hope you get all you want in life thanks kerovac xxx
Hi Jacob, I just wanted to say it's awesome that you have the courage to come out. I have also recently been dealing with my sexuality(@ almost22yrs)trying to figure out what i want while trying to make others happy. I am attracted to both men and women, but ive never dated a guy. Ive told a few of my friends but haven't figured out how to tell my family (mainly my mom). if you have any suggestions let me know. Also wanted to say thank you for making your video, it will help others.

Thanks a lot for this video and your honesty and courage. Big respect. It is impossible not to love you. Best wishes!
Watching this video made me tear up. I understand what you're feeling. It takes courage and true self respect and loving to be able to do what you just did ^^
Love
Thank you for sharing this! I related a lot to your story in many ways, fighting an internal battle and coming to the conclusion that it's not something that I can change. I came out recently and I have found that is getting better. Being open and honest about who you are is one of the best feelings.
Thanks so much, I think your story is very inspiring. I subscribed! I realized when I made my own coming out video, I should be so lucky to have so many supportive people around me. I wish you all the best!
One of the most moving and heartfelt coming out stories I have seen on TH-cam.
Thank you for sharing your story. Very brave and deserving of so much love.
Thank you soooo much for sharing the beautiful person that you are with us. I applaud your bravery and will support you if no one else does. We are people and deserve love and respect. You have both from me. Congratulations and Good Luck!
Welcome Jacob! Thank you for your honesty. Your beautiful . And your message is compelling. Love ya!
Hi Jacob, I hope you are well and happy with your life. I am so glad I watched your video. ou God bless you, Jacob. and wish you love and happiness.
You are very kind. I hope you got the response you deserve from the people you love.
heyyyyy,buddy..thx for speaking out ur true feeling to us..it's really difficult..actually i guess things in China are more easily to be accepted..but anyway, we can't make all the people love us, and i'm sure no one can be loved by all..so,just keep being urself with ur courage, honesty, kindness, let people know we are worth "LOVE"!!
What an amazing answer. I am lost in my thoughts. Thank you both
this is the first time ever i write a post on youtube...i didn't do it before cause every video i saw wasn't as worthy as yours...u really touched my heart...and made me cry...which is not a really simple thing to do...i really see a lot of myself in u and thank u for your amazing words...they are the perfect ones for someone who needs help and confort...i wish u the best in life and that you can find a guy that deserves u cause there are a few like u right now...
love is love , it is not different, love comes from the heart!
You're truly an inspiration to many out there like myself who have gone through the struggle.
This video was very touching indeed. Good on you for coming out and good luck with everything in the future.
Jacob, you are a beautiful person...and stronger than you think. Much love!
How could anybody - ANYbody - not love you, ever?! You are the cutest guy and such an inspiration! You will make it far in this world!
You are a brave young man coming out it isn't easy, you are so cute and I am sure you will never be alone. Best wishes, Ian.
boy u literally almost made me cry.... i have been wanting to be true to my self for years and havent and im 19 already and im still in struggle just because of the hateful environment that im in ....but u stay strong and thanks for this vid it gave me a little bit of extra courage
U got that right!!!😊
i just watched your coming out video and it seemed very emotional for you, you will feel much better with yourself for your honesty and will help others as well
you are a beautiful young man and i hope you get all you want in life thanks kerovac xxx
I am 81. I came out to my parents when I was 17. They were supportive. I am grateful. I wish you all the luck in the world.
Also wanted to say thank you for making your video, it will help others.
this is very touching - me - you are a VERY strong person -- and for that millions are loving you !!
Jacob your a great guy and allways be yourself . This is the best comeing out story i have ever seen .Thank you jacob . all the best chris
