The whole "kids love Pikachu" thing to help sell the game could not have been more right because I remember as a kid, coming out to my living room to see my siblings playing Super Smash Bros Melee, I saw Pikachu on the roster and I was just like "let me play I wanna play as Pikachu!"
I think at the time of 64 I knew about Mario, Pikachu, Link, Fox, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Jigglypuff, and possibly Kirby but that's part of the fun of smash you get introduced to series you might not be aware of but fit right up your alley.

@@spartandumpster1158 Hehe yeah and thanks to this series I was introduced to Persona 5 through Joker, that and a friend helped me try his game out and now it's one of the best rpg's I've ever played along with it's sequel.

Yoshi eggs look exactly like Pokémon eggs, Stomp, Barrage (basically egg throw with a different name), Rollout and Lick are all Pokémon moves, everyone calls Yoshi a dragon even though he is clearly a dinosaur, and according to all text on the matter, Yoshi language consists entirely of the word "Yoshi" even though the in-game vocal clips sound nothing like that. Do you need any more evidence?

You forgot to mention how Pikachu was the only character in Brawl to have an even matchup against Meta Knight, while every other character had losing matchups against Meta Knight.
The Cutehog Team Well that was the first consensus. Most Pikachu mains in Brawl said that the matchup was in Meta Knight's favor, which isn't surprising tbh.

As a die-hard Pikachu main on Brawl and Wii U, this makes me incredibly happy to see. Everything about Smash Bros Pikachu just has my name written on it. It fits my playstyle EXACTLY (quite literally), was the first fighter I ever tried out in Smash Bros back in the late Wii/early Wii U Era when I first got Brawl (my first and favorite Smash game), and so, SO much more. Even all of my friends admitted I'm amazing with Pikachu on Smash.
OK, I will admit, I'm not that good.
I'm not a competitive player, but I've been playing with this little guy since the 64 version. Always a go-to character and main pal for me. Him and Ness. I just enjoy the love for Pikachu I've seen from you, and others alike, and the recognition this video gives him. 😊

A big factor that makes Brawl better are the solo modi. Subspace was amazing and Classic/All-Star were no RNG shit fests.

Pikachu is a really good character. Especially if u are new or a returning player. To master him, it isn't that difficult amd at times he can be quite powerful. He is quick, evasive, and has good recovery. As someone who hasn't played smash since 64, I was struggling to find a character that could keep up with others. Then enter pikachu. I've never looked back!

Let's see, lemme guess what pikachu's weaknesses are... Well, in the game, it seems its biggest weakness is that using it is a huge gamble. Wait, it's the opposite in 64? Never mind.
Hmmm, electric types have ground weaknesses, don't they? Staying airborne must be a good tactic for them, right? Hang on, Marth can easily destroy an airborne pikachu? Withdrawn.
Well, let's just go for logic now. Pikachu's a mouse, right? Vermin ought to scare off women, correct? And small carnivores would probably just eat them, right? ...Actually, pikachu's 2 opponents it has the most trouble with are Peach and Sheik, but he's in a pretty good tier due to matching well against Fox, scratch that. And I guess that means snakes wouldn't have the advantage on this mouse either? Yep.
Electric beats flying and water though, right? What, pikachu had problems with Meta Knight in Brawl and Mario's F.L.U.D.D. in Smash4? Gahh.
What, does Super Smash Bros take place in the Distortion World? I guess if anything holds true with him from normal pikachu it's that you'll always be happy to see pikachu if you've got a red hat.

I take great pride in my Capt. Falcon being Pikachu's kryptonite in this game, it's like I sensed that without knowing it because I never had many problems against Pikachu players once I mastered CP. In fact, before I knew what the tiers were, I never knew what the big deal was and I used to think little of Pikachu in this game because it's a lightweight, CP's combo potential, superior speed, and because so many of his moves have plenty of knock-back.
I'd love to see Mario's changes through the years, good work with these videos I always have a good time

I was actually watching this when it got taken down, and was treated to a stillframe of Pikachu trapping at Shiek's ass (7:55 or so) before getting the error message. Nice.

This video was really well made. I've been competing since 2011 and am generally considered pretty good in Brawl/S4 and I've also been following Melee for a long time. You hit all the important points and there wasn't really any false information presented.
Only criticisms are that you didn't mention Diddy as one of Pikachu's bad MUs in Brawl (general opinion but I get that those are hard to find for the Brawl meta lmao), and that the video was pretty long (tho entertaining all throughout and tbh idek how you could have made it shorter without leaving anything out)
Also I dabble in pokemon and I like your How Good vids for those too :3

Melee: Kirby isn’t just the worst character in the game, he might be the worst character in the entire smash history
Brawl: Kirby is pretty good but still has some glaring weaknesses
Smash 4: he’s fairly weak, but not 100% useless
Ultimate: a contender for being the worst character in the game, but not as bad as he was in Melee

But the difference this time is that several high ranking players, including Mew2King and ZeRo, actually agree with him! It will be very interesting to see him in action in Ultimate, it´s only one month left now
@@BlueAizu_ I'm not that sure. I think bot Pichu and Pikachu are top tier alongside Peach, Daisy, Wolf, Marth and Lucina (and maybe Zero Suit Samus, but she was nerfed in 2.0). Pichu have more combo potential, faster moves and better air game; but pikachu has better neutral game, more range and is harder to KO.
I'm offended that you refer to Pikachu as a Pokémon. He's clearly a Digimon, which is why Ash's is never seen to evolve - he doesn't have a Digivice to Digivolve it with.

Over 2 years after Ultimate came out:
Pikachu is arguably the best character in the game and is currently the only top tier to avoid nerfs completely. His strengths are basically the same as ever except his up tilt is more disjointed than it was the last two games. Pikachu's combo game and kill power are both absolutley insane, but the big reason pika is so hard to deal is his projectile: in ultimate he can buffer during a jump so that he lands behind it with no landing lag, meaning pikachu can get free grabs by pressuring opponents to shield. T-jolt buffering also lets pikachu camp almost the entire cast. Pikachu's only losing matchup is Ness, who absorbs tjolt and can kill pikachu very early while walling pika out.
Basically but you forgot G&W. Easily his worst matchup according to ESam
Update: Pikachu in the entire history of ultimate's lifespan never received a nerf (and I think is one of if not the only top tier to never get any nerfs, correct me if I'm wrong tho)

Seeing that Smash 4 tier list made me realize that all the characters i love to play are mid tier or lower.
at low-mid level it isn't too important. It just means its harder to do better in tournaments if you care about that
So near the end of smash 4’s life, Up throw ended up being better then down throw for combos, also up air strings were a thing. Rip Smash 4, We will never forget you! 😭

Plup is sheik player. He's arguably top 5 in the world rn. He won a super major (genesis 5) which was huge because every genesis has been Mang0 and Armada in grand finals so for plup to be in grand finals AND win the tournament was huge #PlupClub

PM and the tier list is updated regularly.
I would personally prefer a decent summary for PM and a very brief summary in Brawl. I liked playing brawl, but there's really no following and it's just not that great

Always was, likely always will be. It's an exonym applied to them by other tribes meaning "snow eaters" and no Inuit person likes being called it.
"Eskimo" is only considered a non-PC term in Canada. The word means "to net snowshoes", not snow eaters. The People of Canada prefer Inuit, but Eskimo is still used in America because Inuit are only one type of indigenous people living in the Northern regions of America, Canada, Greenland, and Russia.

Now I want to see an updated video with the changes from Smash Ultimate once it comes out. ESAM seems particularly excited about the Pikachu changes, though that's probably always the case.

Ehhhhhhh, that wasn't true even when Pichu was pre-patch. Now that we're post-patch, Pika is overall considered at least top 2, if not the best in the game by a lot of people.
You should start a How good was___ Smash Version
11:45 "Marthritis, which is where Marths find themselves unable to kill until high percents" no, that is the exact opposite of Marthritis. Marthritis is the fact that Marth has major issues killing when his opponents *are* at high percents, because he is unable to get set ups like throw into tipper, ken combo, etc. Marth is at his best when his opponents are not at high percents because all of those set ups work to get them off stage for an edge guard, but he gets Marthritis when they are too high to be combo'd and he needs to get lucky in neutral for a kill.
