    You know what I really like about Andre's style, this guy sees and drives everything out there. Raptors, TRX's, Denali's, ZR2's, diesels, etc., but when he buys his own trucks for his personal use it isn't loaded with tech and luxury features. Very much a working man's truck mentality and I think there are a lot of people that feel the same way. Thanks for being real!

      Trail Boss is Chevy's 'budget' off-road trim. They have cut costs on this to keep the base price as low as possible. Unfortunately, I don't believe they are available on Trail Boss as an option. Can't get a sunroof on it either...

      Couldn't agree more with you, I've been down with my back a couple different times in the past year (nothing compared to what you're going through I'm sure) and for some reason watching TFL seems to help. I'm not a Chevy guy at all I actually hate Chevrolet but his truck kinda makes me change my mind. I can't wait to see more of what his truck can do & reliably of it because as I said it kinda changes my mind, I'm not in the market of a new truck yet but it's coming soon & as far as looks go there may be a Chevy sitting in my yard a few short years from now. Stay strong & feel better soon, good luck to you.

    Andrey, thank you for braving the first year of new truck models. Being a TFL journalist, you have an opportunity to test new vehicles and give the rest of us the good, bad, and ugly of new models. That helps us make better purchasing decisions, and that is one of the reasons I appreciate TFL content so much. Honestly and openly reporting issues such as the unannounced cruise control delete in the GM configurator is the kind of useful information the rest of us need but don't often get from other automotive journalism platforms. Kudos to you and TFL for doing that.

    In this day and age I consider it inexcusable that a vehicle of ANY uplevel trim does not include at least a basic cruise control system. With electronic throttle control it would be a simple matter of a couple of steering wheel switches and some software. Hopefully GM will make a reasonably priced accessory package available.

      I’d almost be willing to bet that you could order the switch and change it out on the steering wheel and be baffled to find that it’s really just plug and play. Easier and cheaper for manufacturers to program all electronic components the same and just option in the interface i.e. the cruise control button. The parts cost like $100 max but the option is $500+.

There were cars that came out within the last decade that this was a plug and play upgrade because the electronic components were all programmed the same from the base model to the top trim and manufacturers decided to just deny buyers of base model vehicles the required interface to operate certain functions. I still don’t think it’s impossible. Getting the parts might be tough until the truck has been out for awhile and they get stock built up.

    I know how you guys feel about the color. When I bought my Kona in 2020 is was a rainy, cloudy day. The color looked like a dark red. A few days later when the skies finally parted the light really changed the personality. Hyundai’s pulse red reminds me of a metallic candy apple red. It really reminds me of the paint we had on our 70s and 80s cars growing up. Put the Line-X in the bed before you put anything in the bed. Also I think you can get some Line-X in the color of your truck so, it just don't come in black if you would like to color match or get a yellow color in the bed. Guys you can never find the perfect truck that has everything you want and everything that you don't like. It is to bad that in this day and age that vehicle manufactures don't think outside the box a little and fix some of those items you and Nathan talked about about the dash. What I don't like is having everything run through the infotainment center. I'm can see tons of problems not having real switches, buttons and knobs as backup. I can also see a big cost in having the infotainment center fixed if you are a person who keeps your vehicles longer than the life of the manufacture warranty.

I've seen people's concern over it but in my 3 yrs of owning my Silverado I almost never touched the physical controls because automatic lights do everything you need. So I can understand why they thought it would be good to save space and move it if it doesn't get much use
    Trip meter and driver cluster controls in the infotainment cluster is awful though in my opinion. Hopefully a SW update changes that

      Auto headlights don't do everything you need. They only come on when it's dark outside. How many vehicles are driving around in bad weather with lights off and can barely see them?

      nah don’t justify GM’s ridiculous oversight. there are times when you might want to use your high beams for a quick second when you need it in a pinch. having to take your eyes off the road for headlight controls is wild

    Congratulations, Andre! GM pushed the envelope in design, which will get people who would never look at a GM vehicle to at least try it out. I see little touches too, like the way the top of your instrument cluster echoes your sculpted hood. Genius is in the details. Don’t feel too bad about the CC, in 2003 I was working as an electrical engineer in telecom. I knew a layoff was coming, but I also knew I needed something cheap and drama free. I got myself a brand new Ranger Edge extended cab with the 4 L overhead cam. X plan out the door was $16,300. But the dealer forgot to add cruise. I was bummed at first, but I got over it, it’s not the end of the world. The truck is still on the road. When I got the 2015 F150 I sold it to a neighbor who needed cheap wheels and he’s still driving it. I mean like he is literally still driving it, he lives in a couple houses down on my street and I just saw it go by! 165,000 miles last time I asked. Mobil 1 every 5000. I guess I’m getting old, I don’t want to hear the exhaust on a truck. For the record, a 2003 Ranger 4 L exhaust sounded like a couple of cats having it out with an old Eureka vacuum cleaner at high noon🙀

    • @mybro727
      @mybro727 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish y’all would get over it. The Blazer is insanely successful today which means GM did their homework in reviving a nameplate and making it convenient for their customers who needed a two row crossover today and require it to be affordable, good looking, good driving, reliable, with good tech and comfort. Every SUV doesn’t need to be a desert runner in order to make sense.

    • @412griffon
      @412griffon ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mybro727 Its not a suv its a crossover.Tell that to GM fan who doesn't want to drive a bronco and thinks the four runner too archaic
      And its so popular your blazer that GM is transforming it to a EV!😀

    Glad to see that Chevy is offering this in a yellow. I had a 2007 Colorado in the bright yellow, loved that truck, and really missed it when I bought a Silverado later (no yellow option offered). Fast forward a few years and I found a special order 2020 Silverado Trail Boss in Wheatland Yellow. Love the looks of that one too. You walk out into a parking lot and you can instantly spot your vehicle, and it looks so sharp. Hope you enjoy it!

    many occasions where we flash the lights to communicate. flash to let someone in , tell them go first at 4 way stops. alert for speed trap. with this truck you have to take your eyes off the road to go through screen menus . Its similar to looking at your phone or texting while driving.

    Andre,
    Congratulations on your new Trail Boss. Great choice by the way. You can’t beat the value for the price. This helped me a lot on my decision making, since I will be purchasing the same truck. However, I’ve decided to go with ZR2 option with added options in sand color. Total price for my selection comes just over $50k. With everything added it just seems like a much better value. Thanks for everything you guys do. спасибо Андре и хороший выбор.

    In regards to the patrons' question, if he's in a super duty, he's most likely running E load tires, not D load as is this Colorado shown. Therefore, the tire PSI should be higher. Make sure you're running E load tires made for a super duty because they are 10 ply and have a much stronger side wall.

    Just do like I did put fog lights to the vehicle. You put LED fog light in the spot where the fog lights go on the truck. Keep the regular incandescent bulb headlight. that’s what we did in our car it works fine. I change the incandescent bulb out fog light. Put led fog lights work great. Did that way for winter time and also at night you’ll will get the brightness out LEDs. My GMC 1500 sierra did not come for lights but I’ll add them went online and got the light from the dealership has parts and put them in myself the wires are there to hook up fog lights just had to add fuse’s. Also cruise control. To truck just cruise control for $250.

    Great video. I bought the first year 2007 Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 and still driving. Only problem is I had to replace the fuse box under the hood at 160,000, and now have 170,000 on it. Living in city I can hardly remember when I last used cruise control or even high beams. You guys should do more videos while driving. You can kind of do a version of carpool karaoke.

    Great initial impressions video, and I would imagine that you will be doing quite a bit more in the near future. I have always appreciated the amount of detail you guys get into with your videos and I like both you and Nathan arent afraid to tell things aa you see them.
    With regards to what you guys pointed out, I agree that the headlights being controlled by only the infotainment screen is a fail. I also think that not having cruise control (or at least physical buttons to operate cruise) is also a fail. Its also strange that GM chose to use incandescent lights on these, and the WT, instead of LED (though Nathan brought up the valid point that LED headlights ice up). I agree with comments from Roman on a prior video you guys did from your studio, that its rather unnaceptable that a vehicle in 2023 that costs over $40K would still use oldschool headlights and tail lights whereas Toyota makes LED headlights and installs them on nearly every single trim level for the Corolla.
    With all of that being said, these 3rd Gen Colorados and Canyons are one of few newer vehicles that I am excited about, and also one of few I would consider replacing my daily driver Focus ST with. I just wish they offered them in Pacific Blue like they did with the 2nd Gen. I also wish they came with a stock stereo that wasn't made by Bose (I would rather have Kicker or Rockford Fosgate, or JBL/Infinity/Harman), but that's my own preference.
    I am anxious to see what your ownership experience is like going forward, as it will help me decide of I want to get one sooner rather than later.
    Well done Andre, Nathan, and the TFL crew!

    I wish you would do a deep dive into the new Colorado like what panels are aluminum, what axles, are they half ton Silverado axles, what transfer case, what did GM actually do to the 8speed to improve it. What is new with the frame and suspensions. More technical would be nice to compliment the great reviews you guys do. I'm looking to purchase one in ZR2 trim but prefer the Z71 interior. Love the Trailboss but I wished they offered a upgraded interior like they do in the Silverado.

    I love the two indents in the bed at the front. Combined with the dual rings its actually perfect for putting two dirt bikes in there and strapping them down with the rear tires on the tailgate. That said... the bed is stupid high! My 96 was nice... I could use a 6 foot ramp without a steep angle. Can't on my 08 and I think this bed is actually higher!

    Just to clarify, the Z71 also comes standard with 18” wheels option to do 20”. Mine has 265 65 18 with the Goodyear Territory AT. Not quite as aggressive as the MT but a perfect all around use tire.
