One of the many things I genuinely like about TFL is how you truly connect with your viewing audience. And these real owner experience vids are great as it's easier to get a feel for how a vehicle performs day in and out.

In 2016, I was looking at the Canyon and wanted heated mirrors and 18-inch rims but didn't want all the technology that came with the "SLT" trim package. I wanted to be able to pick options one at a time instead of being bundled with junk I don't want or need. If I am paying for something, then I should get 100% of what I want, not 90% or 99% and I hate paying extra for features I don't want. It took me 7 years to find a Base Canyon at a decent price. One of the first things I did was go to a salvage yard and buy 4 SLT rims. They didn't tell me I couldn't put SLT rims on a Base Canyon. They sold me what I wanted without any problems, and I went back for some Denali dash panels.

Agreed. Some of the options like seat map pockets, visor extenders, rear folding arm rest, etc should all be standard (1 option). You would think this would save them engineering and manufacturing resources for little to no cost to the customers. The aux switch easily connects to accessories under the hood. With the amount of scale in their manufacturing, they aren't cutting these features to be cheap (because it's not cheap), they're doing it to force people into higher trim levels and to make those who spend an extra $30k not feel like they wasted their money.

I think if one is going to option an LT up to this level, the GMC makes more sense. It comes with more standard features, the 390 HP engine standard, and lifted suspension standard. I built one with similar options on the GMC site and I think I was around 44k. I thought it was a pretty good deal until I realized that it didn't have the two-speed transfer case, for that. I can go over off interstate 40 past cosby, TN and take that zr2 on hurricane creek trail that crosses hurricane creek in several different locations while traveling back north towards hot springs, nc.
We slso have horse creek trail located up by greenville,tn and dicks creek and dark hollow trails located by Erwin, TN. Then i want to travel down into snow creek by Andrew's and Murphy nc to drive on the many trails that go west into tellico plains,TN.

Now they have to have two different kinds of product on hand when they build a vehicle. Also they should consider doing things the way that most Japanese manufacturers do on options. I have the 2023 Chevy Colorado LT, and that tailgate storage and under the rear seat storage is very limited. I have jumper cables stored in the tailgate. Under the rear seat, I wish I had more height to store a canvas tool bag, but no it doesn't fit. So, I'm seriously thinking of a truck cap. I had one on my Ford Ranger, and you have a wide height range of storage that's out of the weather. The problem with the cap, is the reduced gas mileage plus all that weight of stuff you continuously haul in a cap. And another disadvantage is keeping the front cap window clean and the rear cab window clean. And, if you can't keep the front of the bed exterior clean between the cab and the bed, that's the area where my old truck rusted, because you can't clean off that road salt in that area properly. I wish they could come out with a cleaning tool to clean this area, that will help in the long term in maintaining your truck from rusting in the rust belt states. I'm glad my LT doesn't have those wheel moldings, that's where the road salt accumulates too. I had exterior roof sunvisor on my ranger with the running lights, and I really loved the look, but people complained the roof began to leak ruining the roof liner. I had my Ranger for 21 years since new, I never had that problem, but I kept it resealed. The LEDs in the reverse tail lights were really great backing in or out of my 100' driveway near the woods at night. I drive strictly in town and the fist time I fueled up my 2023 Colorado LT, I only got 14.1 MPG. 14.1 MPG was a severe disappointment, but figured the engine needed broken in yet..

I have most of the buttons. There’s no telling how long I will have it, or what will happen, but I’ve never had manual seat controls, etc. fail. I had another, second-hand, truck with wonky window controls and iffy cruise control (sorry, Andre) switch. That Chevy 2500 was 21 years old when I parted with it, I hope my 22 holds up that well.

@@aroncampos5720 It's crazy to me that stuff like cruise control and telescoping steering wheel are options. This stuff comes standard even on a Corolla. The new Ranger has much better standard features across the board - even LED headlights are standard on all trims, but I like the looks of the Colorado more. Just seems like they cheaped out big-time on some things.

Really not that big of a deal adding the packages. I added almost every package available to a trail boss and the price was only 43K and change. For what it came with, a exceptionally good value.

  • @edaddyx2hansonjr436
    @edaddyx2hansonjr436 ปีที่แล้ว +5

I'm in the mid size market. It really is just a shame how Chevy decided to nickel and dime you to death with these packages and options on the new Colorado.
It really is disappointing to have to give up options entirely for the trim you want. LT? No 2 speed tcase. Trail Boss? Shit interior and no LED anything.
Z71? Lame stance and no lift.
Want everything? Bend over to the tune of 60K for (let's not forget) just a Colorado.
The highs are really high for this truck but the lows are exceptionally low.
GM, shame on you for ignoring the middle ground.

I ended up with 2023 pro4x in boulder gray pearl. its a nice looking truck and got a nice discount, almost 4K, before TTL 39k. and I kinda liked its old school feel. hopefully it will be reliable, maybe more so then all these newer turbo motors. will be interesting to see how that 2.7 last in 5-10 years.

Andrey can goto cruise control parts site to get an add-on 3rd party cruise control kit with switches for his Colorado Trail Boss for around $300 to $350 USD depending on model. Takes about 2 to 4 hours to install yourself depending on your mechanical inclination, mostly for diagnostics to make sure your cable connections are correct!
i REALLY REALLY LIKE the new Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon and when the AEV-equipped 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison Edition comes out with the 35's and big lift, I will DEFINITELY be taking a look! If it offers what i need for a lot less than a Ford Bronco Sasquatch Edition, I may just bite the mustard packet and buy one on an 84 month vehicle finance package with $3500 down.
It will be expensive but since I intend to own it for at least 12 to 15 years, it will be a palatable expense as my weekend warrior plus fishing boat towing vehicle! I will DEFINITELY be putting on a full and very thick underbody, all wheel wells, engine bay plus truck bed Line-X coating to ensure its longevity in snow and salt water marine environments!
When one buys a NEW VEHICLE these days, you SHOULD be expecting to hold on to it for at least TEN years probably 15 years to ensure you get the most out of your 72 and 84 month finance payment terms! That's the ONLY WAY most people can afford these new and EXPENSIVE trucks by using loooooooong finance terms! Please also SPEND the extra money up-front on a COMPLETE underbody and bed protection package (i.e. full Line-X coating) to ensure you can actually KEEP your vehicle that long!
    V
