Each vehicle has different strong points : Pickup is a bit longer and despite that is lighter and can have the Max battery pack, it has tunnel, it has more space under rear seats and it can carry a full pallet with things in the bed.. From the official Rivian site i understand that R1S can not have the top optional max battery since the chassis base is shorter, but because of the shorter wheelbase it compensate for shorter front and rear departure angles much better in off-road and the fact that it can carry 7 people inside but that comes with a much heavy overall weight compared to the truck.. Both are awesome vehicles, we live in Europe so here do not see them anywhere only what we learn from online reviews so based on my personal needs so far the truck would be my choice, but for bigger families with more kids the SUV would definitely be a better option.

You make some excellent points. Rivian recently changed the max pack offering to offer it on both the R1T and R1S. Originally max pack was supposed to be around 180kwh so significantly larger than the large pack. Rivian changed the chemistry on the large pack to give it more energy density (149 kwh gross) but with the same package as the large pack. In looking at used large battery packs for sale at salvage yard the large pack is listed at 140 kwh gross (that's what the label says). Usable capacity estimates are 129 kwh for large pack and 142 kwh for max pack (these are estimates and software updates can change the usable capacity of the pack).

Since you have both would you recommend I get both or get two R1S? I don’t need 7 seater but don’t need bed either. If you bought two rivians today what would you buy?
I got pre pricing and tax credit for r1s but reg pricing with tax credit for R1T. What you think and maybe why?

That's awesome! Congrats! If I was going to get two I think I would get one of each still. Reason being is that both have different functionality. If I need to haul people I can take the R1S. If I need to haul cargo or stuff I can take the R1T. The T is about 18" longer than the R1S though so it can be tight getting it into some garages.
