What's hilarious to me, is all the truck guys were talking about how they didn't want these new fangled trucks and wanted something old school with a big v8, and Nissan delivered, yet everyone chose to get F150's with twin turbos and Aluminum bodies with big touch screens and power tailgates with the platinum package that comes with folding steps to keep their dress from getting dirty. I thought I'd see Ram classics and Nissans and Toyotas everywhere, but nope.
Just like Jeep. The 07 came out and I was thinking nobody will buy that but it was crazy popular.
The quest for efficiency has taken away from old school toughness and reliability.
Dead ass the truth. That’s why I was extremely disappointed in toyota for ditching a bulletproof powertrain for a turbo v6 with an aluminum body. I can’t stand they every auto maker just try’s to copy ford to get a piece of the sales. The titan was really the last true pushrod v8 without all that stop/start and cylinder deactivation crap that just kills the motor as we see with the 5.3 in the GM trucks. I’m trying to find a used 21 tundra with the good old school 5.7, and if I’m successful finding the truck I want I’ll probably never sell it. Such a shame that the big 3 really are killing half ton trucks.

#1 reason it failed is because Nissan marketing had their head in the sand... much like they did with the Xterra. #2 reason it failed is because US consumers are too distracted by useless features and electronic garbage. It was perfect for people who need a truck to do truck things.

Other issue is once you bought a titan your really didn’t have to buy another one due to how reliable they are
Not exactly true. You’d actually need a good tow vehicle and car hauler trailer with a winch. That way you could pick your Titan when it broke down and take it to the repair shop.

When you buy one you get two years of free tow service because that's probably how long it's going to last. Vehicles have 7 to 8 drive modes , anti lock brakes, cruise control my vehicles all have that it's called my right FOOT wake up FOOLS.
@@desert4seat drove my 2009 to 240,000kms, shuttling mountain roads with bikes and snowmobiles, hunting, fishing, pulling a travel trailer in and out of the bush, never left me stranded once. Its beat to shit but still going strong.
My 2017 Titan SV tows strong at 150k miles and doesn't waste a drop of oil. Starter and air mix actuator (servo) are all I've had to change, and I could do it myself!
Owned a 2020 Titan. Super reliable and the 9 speed shifts fast. No cylinder deactivation or start stop junk.
I bought a 22 ram 1500 classic and *love* that it doesn’t have start/stop. I’ve been in many new vehicles with it and it’s always crap unless the vehicle is a hybrid.
There is no earthly reason a gasoline engine needs a 9 speed trans. Diesels yes. Gas? Sh---y powerband if it does.
If a vehicle that new wasn't reliable I'd be pretty pissed off about it. I owned a 98 Frontier form 2006-2013 and that was probably the best vehicle I've ever owned. Tires lasted forever as did brakes the only issue it ever had was an egr issue nobody could figure out.

@@jamesbosworth4191ford has the 10 speed transmissions in their 2023 f150s now. They are absolutely junk too. Thats what we use for our company trucks. They are on recall right now too.
I recently bought a new 2023 Nissan Titan Pro4X and I couldn't be more pleased with it. It's powerful, comfortable, quiet, and such a pleasure to drive. The suspension while stiff still has great handling and a great ride with those Bilstein shocks. And the price was well below what I would have had to pay for an equivalent truck from others and the 0% financing was icing on the cake.

@@chrisx5127 I looked on Autotrader and this one popped up with an advertised discount of $6500. They upped it to $7,000 discount with a doc fee as the only adder and Nissan had the 0% financing. I bought it from the dealer in Boone, NC June 26. It was a 5 hour drive from my home. I do not know if they have any more Titans or if Nissan still offers the 0% financing.
I drive a 2021 xd pro4x and love it. Traded in my 2018 tacoma trd 4x4 for it and people thought I was crazy, but the titan just drives so much better than any toyota I've ever owned.

All you had to do Nissan to turn things around was to install a 14 inch touch screen & release the Titan Warrior edition for $100k. The Titan will be missed

WOW, I never heard of that before. I think a raptor type product might have dot them the respect they deserved. They just always seemed so off-brand. Not that I had anything against them, by they were like "brand number 5 truck". That, and the early models had strange proportions.
The warrior looked great because when they restyled the body to blend in the wider stance, they also fixed the terrible proportions of the 2nd gen body. That was the biggest problem with the 2nd gen. There was a huge overhang in front of the front wheels because they needed extra space to fit that huge cummins in it.
Would've been the poor man's Raptor which would've drove a plethra of sales.
I'm still driving my 2004. Titan Over 200,000 miles, no troubles. I love my Titan. I may bring the paint back around someday but it still drives like new.
I'm glad I bought a 2021 Pro4x. It's been a great truck and its super comfy for the wife and 3 kids. We take it on all of our long trips. I also tow a tractor, firewood and ATV's with a dual axle trailer thats real heavy. Pulls it all without cracking a sweat.
Got my 2020 Titan 2 weeks ago . Had a Ram 1500 for 20 years and looked at all others but Nissan had it all at an affordable price . Hell of a truck .
The #1 reason why it failed is MARKETING absolutely 0 marketing. They have a class leading B2B warranty 5yr100k miles and 99% of people don’t know that, and appreciate long warranties.
Nissan gave it the Chevy SS treatment 😔
And no one thinks of a Nissan when they need a truck. The earlier models plastered that warrenty and the 5.6 and all that and still sold less in a year than for did in 2 weeks

I've owned many new trucks from different brands, and I have to say my 2012 Titan was the most reliable truck I've ever owned..
It all just depends on the research that you do. If you're lazy and you have a brand bias you're probably going to end up with shit at some point. If you have an open mind and you look at what's good for the year what's proven good in the past, without that brand loyalty bullshit then you'll probably always find something pretty decent. Buying new and buying a new model are two different things I would never ever ever ever ever consider buying a new model.
JFC!!! If the Nissan Titan was the most reliable truck you owned, what in the seven circles of hell else were you driving? A bunch of Dodge trucks?

@@seanbutler2291Ordinarily I would agree with your opinion. Especially since a certain brand is fussing with what has been bullet proof reliability in their engines for decades. But on the whole, certain brands(loyalty not implied)have reputations for long term reliability. Even if it is a "new model." And you can go to the bank with that.
Our 05 Titan has 212k mi and has never had an issue (apart from horrid mpg) engine/trans have never failed us. Some interior plastic bits have cracked but were easily replaced. Wonderful truck !

My rear diff blew out and both exhaust manifolds cracked on my 05. All under 50k miles. Nissan fixed it all under warranty. Otherwise the truck was a blast to drive.
When they don't make power and are driven by a grandpa, probably a few will last. 😂
I replaced a bunch of interior plastics and exterior too . Had transmission line burst going 70mph and noticed the tranny slipping. Pulled over to see trans fluid covering the sides all the way back. 600 miles from home.
My 05 has 325k and still going strong. Only thing I don't really like that much compared to the f-150 is the f-150 has a nice big gas tank. Sure it sucks to see those big numbers at the pump, but going further is nice. But I think the lighter gas tank probably plays into the more flexy suspension and nicer cornering.
I used to work at the Canton plant. I learned the hard way to never buy a new model when it first comes out because they haven't worked the kinks out. I bought a brand new 2004 Titan and had nothing but problems out of it. Rear end problems, transmission problems, rotor problems. I believe all of them had that problem because the rotors were too small. I also didn't like the gas mileage. For the most part, I did like the space and how smooth it road. I have owned many trucks and that one drove very smooth. It didn't drive like a normal truck. I also did enjoy the power of the 5.6 engine.
Do you think the new 3rd gen frontiers will be reliable? They seem like a great alternative to Tacoma's especially being the only body on frame v6 midsize left.
My 04 has 290k, no issues except for axle seals. You must have got a dud dude.
My first brand new truck was a 2004 Nissan Titan. I loved that truck, it had so much power and torque. I never had a problem with this truck it was well made. It's really sad to see this truck fail, I'm sure they'll come back to this truck one day.
Same. We bought 2 for my business. 1 was a lemon, the other is still running great with 165k miles. Only oil change and a transmission rebuild at 140k miles (That cost me 3,500) still a great truck

Generally speaking, Nissan has poor brand recognition in the US, especially in the pickup truck market. If people want a "Japanese" pickup truck (made in America) then they buy a Tundra. The Titan could never keep up with innovation because that company has been in or skirting financial trouble for a long, long time.

This is exactly what happened. Just watched a video yesterday on a comparison between the qx80 and sequoia. The stuck up host said the sequoia has the edge over the qx80 because of its forced induction V6. People beg and beg for simple, yet they'll turn around and say "fuel economy is all that matters" basically

Purchased a 2023 Platinum Reserve in May and could not be happier. I used to be brand loyal but after having 2 trucks from another major manufacturer let me down before 100k, I did my research and chose Nissan. I really like the truck so far, love how it drives and the sound of a N/A V8. Perhaps if Nissan did a quarter of the advertising the other manufacturers do with their trucks, sales would have been better.

I love the titan. I bought a 2020 Frontier p4x last month because I didnt want to spend a lot of money. But a month later I think I made a mistake. The frontier is a great truck but its not very comfortable.

@@aislcsales The seats are comfortable for sure. The gas mileage is not great, I am getting around 17 in town. I can tell you that it is better gas mileage than the 3.5 twin turbo I had.

I agree with you. All the big 3 have trucks I like, but since my first 1972 Datsun, it's been Nissan all the way. The Titan is such a great truck, horrible mpg aside.
I had a 2004 until 2017. Great truck, sturdy, comfortable and super reliable. The did not change the truck enough over the years to get me to change it.
I'm thinking of a 2008-2011 Titan along with about 2010 Tundra. My Fords were good, but the rust here destroys them.
I have a 2023 Titan and it’s a great truck. I think what failed #1 is marketing. I can not really ever remember seeing a Titan commercial or ad. If they would of marketed it more it would of done much better. I love how it feels like a truck. Column shifter, standard V8, crew cab and it comes standard with a bed liner

I think you hit the nail on the head. I never saw an ad for the Titan. Honestly never thought about this truck until I saw one on the road. Plus, Nissan was trying to break into an already highly saturated market. With Ford having the best saling truck for over 50 yrs and that point, and all truck having bran loyalty, as mentioned in the video, Nissan had an uphill battle from the beginning. Unlike the Toyota Tundra, which pretty much hit the ground running (because... Toyota), Nissan seemingly pulled their punches.
I totally agree it feels like a real truck with an actual column shift unlike any other new truck today
It’s disappointing Nissan has discontinued the Titan. It was a great truck that stuck to truck roots without being overloaded with frivolous technology.
I recently bought a 2023 pro4x after after a very thorough 1/2 ton truck search. This truck is so underrated and was roughly $10k less (plus 0% financing from Nissan) when comparing the same level of options and tech of competitors. Real world mpg is same as my recent gladiator. Maybe not as cool, but much more space and power.
Agree! This truck looks so much better than a tundra! Has skid plates all over instead of carpet like the platinum tundra has!!! More comfy, and the tundra v6 in reality gets about 15mpg in city. Titan has much better warranty!

I have heard someone bring up CVTs while they ranted against Titans.
They were a RAM boi thru and thru though, so I wasn't expecting any actual facts. But that crossover of image across completely different models is a thing even when unwarranted
@@markcoopers1930 Yes it had a problem but when you do the regular oil change... Thing is even tho it was problematic most people just repeat the CVT subject becaue others do because it´s the "trend" (I hate that word btw).

@@kingelvis7035 Right, but the point is that CVTs have nothing to do with their trucks, which is unfortunate that that reputation crossed over. Just like thinking fondly of a Jeep Renegade because it's got the same badge as a Wrangler doesn't connect.
I also never understood the financial issues point. The truck is what it is, if the manufacturer has a bad quarter it's not like that makes the truck in your driveway worse. And truck people typically do their own maintenance and/or buy post-warranty, so if they went under and we lost all service centers it's really not an issue.
I love my Titan. It's been an amazing truck for what I need. I think the largest problem with sales were that the people that really love Titans can't afford a new one. Myself included. New trucks are ridiculously expensive and the middle class can't afford those trucks anymore. That's why I bought a 2009 titan 2 years ago. Couldn't afford a new one lol. It'll be missed, but I have a feeling it'll come back after some time out of the market.
And I like my Ford. Big deal.

I'm with you. I love my Titan and bought it in 2008 when gas was high and truck prices were low. I've priced them out lately hoping to trade up and was very discouraged. Hoping to retire in the near future and spending this kind of dough right now is not a good idea.
same ive had 4 titans with the newest being my 21 pro4x. offroad the piss out of it and does an amazing job and always works. Only had one issue with it and it was offroading. Amazing truck.

I had the 2010 Titan Pro 4X and I loved it- bought it to tow a boat and couldn’t even feel the boat behind it. Great off road capability and awesome storage and rear cabin was awesome- i loved the flat floor. Engine was awesome and powerful- gas mileage not good but what do you expect from a V8. The only thing that I wish was different was it wasn’t very comfortable for long drives. I sold it upon moving from Canada to the USA. I now have a 2018 Honda Ridgeline and I love this one too
I owned a 2005 Titan Crew-cab SE (Canteen Green) and kept it for over 15 years. Put a huge amount of miles on it in the 1st 6-7 years and it lived a slower pace in its late life. Sold it off with over 268k miles on the ODO. Had a rear replaced under warranty before 60k and then it just kept running and running without issues through the end. The guy that bought it striped it down, replaced the corroded parts and repainted it. He drives it around his property as a work/farm truck to this day. It had some issues...EVAP canister and EVAP valve kept going bad, trans oil cooler leaks, oil filter housing leak, axle seals leaked, and just like in the video, the exhaust broke right at the flange in front of the axle...I stopped trying to fix it because it has a resonator/muffler in place and the rear pipe was just the back part of the exhaust outlet...but nothing terrible and certainly nothing that was breaking the bank to maintain. The fuel and tires were the biggest expense and oil changes were easily done in 20 mins in the driveway. Paid $30k OTD for it in May 2005...a new truck with similar equipment is double that.
It was my first car and had no say in the matter, and I’d imagine it’s almost no one’s first choice. But I had an 04 and it was an incredible truck. I was too young and dumb to get regular proper oil changes and put 200+k miles on it. RIP

@@emersongordillo7457 same exact situation here, in 2012. Lots of great memories. Now that I’m older I’ve got a modified super duty that gets 8.5mpg with a slide in camper haha. I miss the days where I could appreciate a stock truck like I did with that Titan.

Bought new 2004 great truck transmission failed at 179,000
I plan on getting one next year. They are great trucks and it’s a shame nissan never fully committed to them. Hopefully the frontier is safe.

I still drive my 2012 PRO-4x and it’s the best truck I’ve ever owned. My Silverado’s were rattle and rust buckets and my F150 was weak. My truck has one rust spot and it’s on the storage tool box and to this day I’ve only replaced one fog lamp. It is a gas hog but it also can tow a ton. Before you start this is a New England truck that’s hauled my into and out of the mountains to hunt.
How many times have you replaced the exhaust manifolds? Lol

RIP Titan. I used to sell them, worked for a Nissan dealership. They were/are great trucks, those older 1st generation ones. They sounded great, had a nice rumble to them, and so much torque. I always tried my best to get them conquest sales, but those people were just so loyal to the American trucks. Oh well. = (
i have a 2024 titan and absolutely love it. It does not have start stop feature, no e-torque,no turbo,no cylinder deactivation. Its a naturally aspirated engine.most dependable and reliable half ton truck on the road today in 2024. i could go on and on about why i love this truck.
To me, the Titan's weakness for this latest model year, was the exterior design--it looked like a rejected F-150 refresh, that someone threw out the window, a Nissan designer saw it, picked it up, and said to themselves, 'YES! This is what we need!'

@@brohammerbuddy he didn't say that it looks bad he's saying that it looks like an F-150 but not quite. It's a Nissan it's not a Ford that's the point he's trying to make it should look like something from Nissan. The style of the previous truck was outdated for sure but it set itself apart. To me personally I don't think it looks like an F-150, I look at it and think it looks like a total rip-off the last generation toyota tundra.

I used to have a 2010 Titan, and it was amazing, VERY reliable, towed well, quick off the line, and overall a great truck, if it could tow what my RAM 2500 does I would have kept it, still miss that truck and will miss the Titan … great video gentlemen!

My son has owned two 1st gen Titans and one 2nd gen. He loves his.
I owned a 3/4 ton (2500) GMC at one time and it gave me grieve. It was so bad and the dealers would give me the run around. I finally traded it in for a first gen in a Desert Runner Frontier in 1999. Currently I own two Frontiers, a 2nd gen and a 3rd gen. Love them both.
I owned 2004 Titan. At over 300K miles, I traded it in for a 2011 and its still going at 250K. I purchased another Titan (2017) and kept it low mileage so far. I am an Ironworker and beat the hell out of my Trucks, particularly in the weight I carry daily. Best trucks Ive ever owned. First Gens are Bulletproof.

I'm considering a 2017. Should I buy it? I will b beating on it at work, towing 5000-7000 lbs several times a week. which is a shame because it's a creampuff but the price is right and I like nisan or at least used to. Will this thing take the beating?
I have a 2012 Titan SL that my dad bought almost new and I grew up in and he gave it to me when I was 17. I’m 22 now I’ve loved my Titan. It has 120k miles and through my dads ownership and mine we have had 0 issues literally. Just maintenance. I’ve driven a handful of other pickups (Chevy, dodge, ford) through my friends. And nothing compares in terms of the 1500 category. It might not be the most aesthetically pleasing 1500 sold in the last 20 years but god is everything else about it great. Fantastic motor, reliability, great towing capacity, very torquey V8. Awesome comfort and features depending on the trim you have. And not to mention always cheaper than the American competitors. Overall I would not trade my titan for any other gas truck. It’s sad to see it go but understandably so, the American public didn’t see the value in these trucks so I can see why they are ending it. I love my titan and hope to put many more miles on it. If you get the chance to own one, give it a chance! Everyone I know who has one loves it including me.
I Definitely agree with you guys about the WARRIOR Concept truck from 16'! I ABSOLUTELY loved it and was to be first in line to purchase it. I stopped looking for pickup trucks and started waiting for its arrival which never happened. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN #1 ON your list as to why it failed. Not making that truck was a catastrophic mistake for them.

I have a 2007 Titan LE with the Offroad package (pre Pro4x). I have well over 300K on it and I still love it. This was a good summary, although I would put the number 1 reason for its demise was that Nissan was so slow to update it. 20 years and only 2 major revisions won't work in this era.
I agree. I have a 2011 Titan - if you look at it side by side with a Tundra from the same year, the Titan looks dated. Still love my Titan though - was a much better value at the time vs. a used Tundra.
I had a Titan as a rental truck a few years ago. I thought it was great. I know the ownership experience will differ from a week of rental, but I was impressed with the truck and what it could do.
I still drive an 04 Titan EX RWD as one of my daily’s. It was my dads truck. He got it brand new off the lot 20 years ago and it still runs 100% great. He gave it to me about 8 years ago, a little after I moved out, got married and had my first kid. I put a small lift on it, changed some parts to make it more “off-road capable”, got tires. It’s our family truck now, we take it camping a couple times annually, off-roading and just everyday driving and it’s been fantastic. It only has about 118,000 miles so I’m expecting to have it for a long time. But, I always told my self that when it was time I would get a Titan Pro4X it was never a question. And that time was honestly coming close! As soon as I pay off my wife’s car we had two years to go! haha But now after hearing the news about Nissan scrapping the Titan for the foreseeable future, I’m genuinely bummed out. Hopefully I can find my Baja storm pro4x certified used in a few years… anyways that’s my Titan story. Thanks for reading
Bought my 2005 Titan brand new off the showroom floor. Almost 24 years ago now. 200k miles all original except tired and brakes. Exhaust manifold replaced under warranty when newer. Been used as a farm truck pulling trailers and tractors most of its life. Amazing and underrated truck.

I actually was a long time Ford fan and did leave because they refused to put a V8 in the Raptor and bought a TRX. If Nissan had built the Warrior, I would have definitely been interested in buying one. I had a Nissan X-Terra in my early 20’s and that truck was so good to me. Missed opportunities for sure. The Warrior would have created serious buzz around Nissan trucks.

Ford did have a v8 in the Raptor, the 1st gen. 2010 has the 5.4 and 2011-14 had the 6.2L or you could option a 5.4 but you were an idiot for doing so. I have a 2012 6.2 Raptor right now and it’s a beast. I also own a titan swapped 2011 Xterra and it’s also a beast in its own respect

Driving my 2nd Titan now - '21 SV 4x4 - 1st was a '17 P4X - the 9 speed made big difference - I've had nothing but positive experience with both and may consider '24

I pull my 22ft RV with a 2011 Nissan Titan S 2WD King Cab. It's a base model, extremely simple version of the Titan. I bought it two years ago with 93k miles. So far it's been fantastic. The only issue I've ever had with it was the blend actuator for the HVAC went out. I replaced it myself with an aftermarket Gates part. When I was shopping, I was looking for a Tundra, but the Titan came up for sale at my local Nissan dealer and it was a no brainer. About $5k less than comparable Tundras with about half the miles. I've been very pleased. I was actually considering buying a brand new Titan crew cab in a few years, but now I'm not sure what I'll do. One thing they touch on in the video but don't go into great detail on - for me the number one reason the Titan didn't sell was the Tundra. That was its direct competition. I've driven both, and while I love my Titan, the Tundra is far more refined and feels much better built. Most people that could afford a new Titan could afford a new Tundra and the Tundra is a better truck in many ways.
My own story about Nissan: when I went looking for a 1/2 ton back in the early 10s, I was faced with a limited selection from Nissan compared to row after row of F150s and Ford had, and probably still does, incredible promotions on the XLT line. Pretty hard to compete against that.
The reason the Titan failed in sales is because they never advertised it. THAT is the number one reason. I can't believe you didn't mention this.
In this media-driven society, it is incredible that some won't advertise. Buick did that with the 92 - 96 Roadmaster. The did advertise the 92, and it sold like hotcakes. In mid 93, they stopped all advertising. Sales fell like a rock. Ford did the same thing with the revived 2002 T-Bird. No advertising. No sales

Number one reason they failed is they didn't market this truck right... or at all most years. I worked at a Nissan dealer and never sat in a titan til 2015 when we got the brand new XD Cummins.
I finally drove a T after i left dealership and was appalled that I never knew how amazing these were.
All nissan needs to do is put contractors, hunters, farmers in these trucks and they will sell. Its a good looking, reliable, durable, stable, smooth, and good handling truck. Best stability of any 6 lug truck hands down

I'll add this. A bit better payload for regular T and 8 lug XD with a 6k# rear end and 9500# ish gvwr would have been a better value proposition IMHO than a hd 6 lug truck

I have a first gen titan and it has been the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. The newer gens are absolutely plagued with problems. The #8 cylinder melting and the transmission blowing up are some serious problems that they never really addressed.
The first gens had lots of gremlins too: cracked manifolds, weak brakes and rear differentials, exhaust pipe flanges failures that would melt wiring harnesses, etc. The only reliable thing was the motor itself, it was bulletproof.

I had a 2011 Titan SV crew cab for 6 years and I had my driver’s side manifold give out at 60,000km , and the passenger side went at 126,000km. It was covered under a Ferderal emissions warranty which was valid up to 130,000km , so I just squeaked by. Out of pocket, it would have cost me $2,000 CAD for each side.
The point I am trying to make is that from 2004-2015 Nissan never improved their faulty manifold design, they just kept replacing it with the same shitty product. The fact that you have to modify at your own expense for their crappy engineering is wrong. Don’t get me wrong, I liked my Titan because it was a badass little half ton pickup, but I felt it was a a liability waiting to happen. I n 2017 I traded it in for a brand new Tundra Limited double cab, and I’ve never looked back.

I have a 2021 Titan. 62k miles and LOVING IT.
Very good summary of the failure but I was behind the scenes as a Nissan purchasing employee for a couple of decades which encompassed the Titan birth and next 10 years of it's run. Called to Japan for big truck project announcement and I told the Japanese not going to go well as that market is tough to break into. Sales original projection 90,000 a year and never broke 50. The front brakes on original too small and warped resulting in buy backs, suits and lemon laws. Finally "fixed" 2007 when I bought one. Original rear diff too small and had many failures if not broken in properly. We went from mineral to syn lube and a finned aluminum rear cover (heat) and helped but never was fully "fixed." All of this made it's enrty a disaster from which it never recovered. Then the paint is famous for failure everywhere you look and always has been. Much more to the long story but this is the basics. Nissan engineering and marketing blew it from the start.
I don't think they marketed it enough. I don't see no where near the commercials on tv like all the other brands.
If any truck should be canceled it should be the Ram, I think the Nissan is a lot better truck than the Ram.
I agree they are an ugly unreliable truck. Saw one at Lowes recently And they loaded some shingles on it and it was like a submarine, all dive. I would have been afraid to leave the store with it.

Titan is way better than the Ram (aside from not having a 1ton variant). But you’ll never convince the big 3 loyalists that it’s good. The only thing that saved Tundra was being heavily advertised as being built in the USA, and UNDENIABLY reliability. Titan is slept on.

I've always driven the F150, but I really wanted my next truck to be the Titan & it still will be. I've owned Chevrolet 1500 with the so-called good 5.3 engine. Let's just say I got the lemon 5.3, & I've owned four different Ram 1500's & all four of them where lemons, & in my book when you buy 4 trucks all the same brand and they all give major trouble they're no longer lemons they're junk. And I really believe Toyota is now selling on their reputation because I just don't believe these new 3.5 V6 twin turbo trucks are gonna hold up like yesterday's trucks. "But that's all my opinion."
My next truck & probably my last truck will be the Titan.
I had a 1992 Nissan Hardbody, then got a 2004 Nissan Titan company pickup, then a 2006 Nissan Titan Company pickup. Now I drive a 2013 Nissan Titan. I'm a bit of a fan. I like them mainly because they used to be under valued and you could pick them up used for a good price. I also love that they have plenty of power and never break down. The fiddly bits will break, like covers falling off or switches breaking or something but mechanically they are amazing. They are gas guzzlers, but the money you save up front will buy a lot of gas.
If we have learned anything over the years, vehicle model lines never die, its more of a pause before they start making them again. It will be back at some point 😉
I've know a few owners of the Titan and they loved them, personal for me I have never considered one because I have always thought they have the ugliest full size pickup design. 👎
That’s a good point. It’s hard to say what the future will bring. As fickle as the car market is, you might see a resurgence of big, gas-guzzling pickups 5 to 10 years from now as a pushback against electrification.
You guys thinking that EVs are dad and there will be a resurgence of ICE vehicles (especially new models for crying out loud), REALLY REALLY need to do a little research of the EXISTING laws on the books in various states on the West and East Coasts about the possibility of registering/titling ICE vehicles after 2034. I mean these are existing laws in CA, OR, WA which will not allow us to title and get a license plate for new model ICE or even plug-in hybrid vehicles. Only full EVs will be allowed. Similar rules I heard on the East Coast. And this doesn’t even takes into account the new federal level EPA and other regulations that require insanely high CAFE standards which without mandating it explicitly, makes impossible for car manufacturers to sell anything other than at 60% EVs and a few fuel sipping ICE cars after 2032. So pretty much next 10 years and nobody is going to be able to buy a new model year ICE vehicle. I mean wake the f@&k up and smell the roses!

I have to say that my 2018 Titan runs Great. I love it. Sad to hear that there not making any more .On average I’m getting about 21 or better on mileage .And anyone who rode in my truck always complement me on how much head room and leg room the had. I had full bench up front so I could carry 6 adults and nobody was cramped.Hopefully they will bring it back later . Only time will tell.
I went out in 05 and test drove the heck out of F150, Tundra and Titan. Clearly the Titan was the most fun and peppy and even sporty to drive dare I say. Later I found out how good the stereo system was with the upgraded Rockford Fosgate system. That truck served me well until 2018 with minor issues, mainly a cracked exhaust manifold that had I known would have been covered by warranty. It even survived the Camp Fire and was melted but still ran good. In 19 I went out and test drove the heck out of 150, Tundra and even Titan XD. Once again the Titan V8 was clearly better than all of them for me as a sort of sporty drive. Nice brakes, good power and not to mention they were giving the last year model away (I got 15K off the Pro 4X) walked away with that truck for 36K. It was been perfect and once again the stereo system is better than anything I've ever heard and that includes the Burmester system in the Porsche 911 that I also had. It has always surprised me these aren't more popular. They look cool, drive better than 150 or Tundra and are like 20K less. My buddy just got a Tundra and it was 85K!! I'm going to keep my 18 and just be happy. I would be remiss to sell it just based on how much better the stereo is than anything else out there. It would be 80-90K to replace this and not that much better.

I never did drive a Silverado so I can't say. I remember looking through he window of the interior at one point when was shopping and saying no thank you just based on the look of the interior. Hard to find all that you want and get it perfect. That is where porsche nails it. To bad they don't make a truck.

I think their biggest failure was from the beginning in not utilizing UD (which Nissan owned in the early 2000s) parts and going straight at the heavy duty side of trucks. When they did try to go mildly heavy duty, with the redesign they still didn't go hard enough at it.

It wasnt cheap enough to attract a lot of buyers and did not invest enough in the Titan to keep up with competitors. Ford, Ram, and GM know their future depends on their pickups and invest in their product accordingly. Nissan never had the same urgency.
Too bad. I just picked up a low mileage first gen titan. I just needed a secondary vehicle to do truck things. I’m seriously impressed with it. More power than I can use and just a solid truck that is ageing way better than any truck of the same age from the big three. Seriously. I’m in Canada where salting the roads for half the year is normal and this truck has no rust on it. Maybe in ten years I’ll upgrade to this last version of the titan.
Had an 05 and that thing has some of electrical problems. Cam and crank sensors needed to be replace every other years, fuel gauge showing empty right after it was just filled. Brake booster problems, weak brakes. Rear end was weak because it didn't have a breather. I can go on and on and on but that's why i traded it in for a Tundra! No more problems.

I have had the pleasure to own 4 of these trucks . They are by far the best truck i have ever owned ! I have owned Fords, Chevy’s, and Dodge and the Titan blew them away !! It has the power of a sport car the room of an SUV the ability to tow a large boat and they do not charge extra for luxuries! I put over 100K on each of them i have owned and never had any issues from any of them !
The only way they could have kept this truck around unfortunately is with a new engine, and since Japanese V-8s are like hen's teeth now and their next best engine is in the new Z (well GT-R really) there was a pretty slim chance they were going to keep it around. That and Nissan never really did the hybrid thing, which is the way a lot of light trucks are going to go in a decade or so. They could have kept it alive with a decent BEV or even better a PHEV drivetrain with the low end torque but their battery tech isn't ready for truck things yet. Maybe if solid state batteries ever become a cheap thing it may come back with hood storage, as a Silverado EV / Lightning fighter.
Titan is one of the best bargains in the used truck market, a 10-15 year old Titan is almost always considerably cheaper than the Big 3 and if you need something to tow a mid sized load it's very capable. I sold my Titan to my buddy, miss that truck but I get to see it often.

Done collision repair on the front off these trucks and was pleasantly surprised on how good the engineering was on the unibody structure, which allowed me to do. Repairs that were consistent with original factory specs, actually enjoyed doing the Nissan frontal repairs. More easily repaired then Toyotas and other brands

They got me, I got the 2017 Nissan Titan XD Diesel SV. Absolutely love it and think it is very underrated truck for its capabilities. Now I am debating to trade it in since they are completely discontinuing it now. This truck rides like a tough truck, I left a Silverado and thing the XD tows so much better than that did so it made me happy. Long term now definitely need to think about jumping back to Chevy.
We are in the same boat. The whole reason I'm watching these dumb videos is to make a decision about whether we keep the Titan, and just run it into the ground, or buy a new truck due to mileage. Since our guys travel longish distances, we'll probably have to replace it. But there isn't anything close to the same kind of value with the capabilities of the diesel on the market right now.
Recently in the market for a new truck the titan pro 4x caught my eye and started wacthing a ton of videos. Test drove today and dispite loving the styling, features, and value, the throttle responce is so horrible it killed any deal. I've seen some comments about a pedal commander partially addressing the issue, but this is a brand new truck you shouldnt need to tune and fix factory engineering failures. IF they overlooked this what else did they half-do?
You’re right. Although the Titan is a very interesting truck that has a loyal following, it’s very hard to compete with the likes of the F-150, Ram, and Silverado. Toyota barely broke through the full-size truck market with the Tundra.
I feel bad for the people in the plant that built the Titan. Now they're going to build EV's there, and those will probably sell even worse.

I'm sad to hear the Titan is going awa! I love this truck. I do feel it lacked aftermarket support too. For example, it's hard to find a lift kit or even a Supercharger system for it. Hope to see it make a comeback someday.
I had a 2004 SL Crew 4X4 and put a ton of miles on it and loved it, I then purchased a 2008 Pro4X Crew long bed and loved it. Plenty of power, comfortable, it had enough necessities and was reliable. At the time the interior was much larger then any of the other truck. Nissan set the stage for the other manufacturers as far as (new) the usable features we see today, such as large door storage, large consoles, lots of cup holders, under seat storage, spray in liners, etc. I have owned Fords, Chevy's and one Dodge and I liked the Titan more than those three. In 2020, I purchased a Platinum 4x4 Tundra and needless to say I am sold on Toyota's now. It currently has 135K miles and still drives and rides like it was new and not a single hiccup. I'm giving the new Gen of Tundra's a few more years, but I doubt I will ever part with my current one.
Nissan's Truck line up (Titan and Frontier) has never been "class leading" but I always maintain that they are by far and beyond the best all around value for money proposition in the truck market for the last two decades. Apparently all the Toyota Tacoma fan bois don't agree because they keep paying way too much for those things (again, Tacoma is not at all a bad truck and Toyota deserves the brand recognition but those trucks don't justify the price tag people pay for them imo because although Toyota may have paved the way in reliability, the other brands have caught up big time and it's not the wide gap they seem to be enjoying the current reputation of anymore). But the Titan/Frontier have always been a great price for a great truck and I hope that the Frontier continues to gain popularity and Nissan gets some recognition for their trucks (maybe even bring back the Titan in 5 years or so). I think it's a damn shame that they seem to get lost in the mix. It's almost like they get forgotten because they aren't Chevy or Ford American brands and Toyota gets WAY TOO MUCH love for "reliability" (again, I'm not saying they aren't reliable but the reputation seems to have out paced the reality when it comes to reliability and you Toyota bois are way overpaying for Tacomas the last decade, it's getting silly). I think the greatest problem with Nissan trucks is that they are just really good at being middle of the road reliable trucks. They don't take 1st place in really anything but value imo. The price for an all around reliable, capable pickup truck is amazing with a Nissan but I guess the market disagrees. They are the "mr consistent" of the truck market and often times "mr consistent" doesn't get the fame and glory of the dramatic wins and losses of other brands. They sort of get forgotten about because they are consistent and so they don't make headlines, they don't create dramatic stories and people don't really mention something that just works great and doesn't cause any fuss over it. They are just sort of there not making waves. Maybe they could hire Toyotas marketing guys to push some fantastic narrative so that the "geek bois" who like to think they are both super smart and rugged will start buying them and explaining, in a nerdy loser way, how their big brain paid soooooooo much for the best thing ever, because let's face it, most guys who buy a Toyota do it because they want to be thought of as high IQ individuals who are also rugged individualist because they bought a truck, but not just any truck, they bought a Toyota because they are smart and do their research and "Toyota equals reliability and resell value". It's a cult at this point.

Good point...... Carlos pulled this delinquent company back into shape way back in early 2000's. He also did a lot of damage with the other cheaper models, causing a poor company reputation that also caught the Titan in the company's downward spiral.

He turned the company's fortunes up by sharing as much as he could between both brands, opting for cheaper interiors and also by exploring segments the company wasn't a part of like full size trucks and full size SUVs.
He also brought a big boost to Infiniti.
But one of the most blatant cheap tricks was to implement CVTs across the FWD lineup.
Yes, Nissan became profitable but at the expense of reliability, extended warranties (which would end up cutting on those savings) and the earned stigma of being considered a step down in quality and price to Honda and Toyota.
Many people didn't know but back in the early 80s a Nissan/Datsun was more expensive than a similarly equipped Honda and priced on par with Toyota. Reliability and long standing reputation for fuel efficient, quality build cars contributed to that.
A truck as reliable and solid as the Titan needs to be kept in production.

Must be a Canadian/NY thing. I live in Michigan and I have found that compared with other states I have visited (especially outside of the rust belt) there seems to be larger domestic vehicle presence. The full size truck market in particular has a pretty devoted domestic manufacturer following.

While I don't see too many Frontiers here in the mitten (compared with just about any other truck), there are still far more of them than Titans here.
I had a 2004 Titan I bought new and put 140K miles on it. Cheap base model King Cab (even had roll up windows!), but it was inexpensive, had 4WD, and that V8. Great truck. That said, my replacement was an F-150 which I still have 15 years later. The Ford just seemed to be the real deal, though now I would consider one of the latest Titans as a replacement considering the high cost of new F150s…
Ford made a mistake with the EcoBoost. I'm assuming you have the old Tritan engine. Those trucks are very good. The EcoBoost engines are impressive, but unreliable.
My buddy has a 2009 or 2010 F150 with the Tritan V8. It still looks brand new. He's had no issues.
I’m the proud owner of a 2021 Nissan Titan SV, which I upgraded from a 2017 Nissan Titan. At almost 60,000 miles I have had zero issues with this truck and it still drives like new. I absolutely love this truck! It’s my daily driver to work and I also take it on long trips. I can pack my wife, grandkids, and all the things we need for a trip comfortably with plenty of room. It really makes me sad to see the Nissan Titan go. I hope someday that it makes a return and wins more people over like me!
I own a 2004 titan with 250k miles and still run great
I have a '16 XD diesel with 67k miles and it still doesn't have any squeaks or rattles. Tow a lot with it and love the thing. It's an honest truck without any gimmicks or unnecessary electronic features that just drive the cost up.
I really had high hopes for the Titan. Pretty sad it’s going away. I have a 2019 n been wanting to upgrade to a newer one. Might just end up keeping mine for a long while
I love my 2004 Titan. It's got 222,000 miles and runs great. I'm really disappointed that Nissan has discontinued the Titan brand. It's been a very good vehicle for me. Hauls what need to haul and tows what I need to tow.
One major issue is that once you buy a low sales truck like Titan and you want to sell it privately it is really really really really hard to find buyers especially like now as fewer people are buying cars and prices are coming down it's rough.
I only buy used and I would be concerned buying a used Titan because obviously when you buy used there's a good chance something will need to be fixed right away and its nice to just go to the local junkyard for parts rather than trying to find something on Ebay selling at a premium. Same with like the Mitsubishi Monterro for instance. Great, reliable car but I'd pay extra for a Landcruiser or a Tahoe because parts are easier to find.

This makes me really sad. I have 130k worry free miles on my 2008 and it has done everything I've asked of it. Depending on pricing, I will definitely look at trading up before it leaves the market.

Its sad that this truck didn't have better adoption because they are really great trucks. They are very reliable and well made and are a bargain. I have to say I agree with all the points made in this video. If Nissan would have made the Warrior I would have bought one. I have both the Diesel XD and the 1/2 ton Titan and I love them both. I just sold my XD Diesel and I am going to miss it. That Cummins V8 is pretty awesome when you circumcise it and tune it. I was pushing over 850 lb ft of torque and even with 37" tires I was getting close to 14 mpg. I am really sad to see the Titan go but I am not surprised due to the low sales. The odd thing is for having such low sales numbers, I see a lot of these trucks where I live.
LOVE my 2018 Pro4X. I have a thing for this apparently, my other car, a 6G Camaro 2SS 6M is also going away..Waaaaaahh. I drove the Ford, GMs, Toyotas of the year...And the Titan was far & away the best feeling, best priced, best backed truck there was. If I had it to do again, I'd buy another no questions asked.
Man, in 2017, when I was looking for a new truck to replace my 2010 Tundra 5.7, I looked at the Titan XD with the Cummins. Then I saw their ridiculous pricing and figured I could just get a real 3/4 ton truck in that same range; so I ended up with a Silverado 2500HD.
I owned a 2017 Titan XD Diesel for 4 years, I recently traded it off for a much more capable 2024 GMC 3500 AT4 Duramax. I fell for the hype surrounding the Titan XD truck, price, towing numbers, diesel, etc, thought it would fit my needs just fine. Also thought it would be a great truck as we've had an awesome ownership experience with our 2010 Nissan Armada with the 5.6l gas engine. As stated in the video the Titan fell short in every category in real life use. I used it to tow my 35' (7,500 lb) travel trailer and my 23' boat (didn't tow them at at the same time) In my opinion and experience with it, that diesel was underpowered while towing my camper. Especially since I was towing just over half of its 12,000lb towing capacity. I can't imagine what it would act like if you were towing close to max capacity. Payload was equally unimpressive, that truck only had 500 more pounds of payload than my 2008 FJ Cruiser. I might also add that the difference in hp an torque on the 5.0l diesel and gas engines really isn't that much, especially the new 5.6l Endurance engine, no wonder they discontinued the diesel. Sad end to a truck brand, I know the gas versions of the truck were really good...
Still have the Armada? Any issues with it? I'm considering the gas XD in a 2021-2024 version. I don't actively tow or heavy haul, at least not currently. My next truck (without a truck atm) will have at least a 6.5' bed and crew cab. Other than gas mileage, I think the XD would provide a bit more confidence than a standard half ton for any towing adventures I might have that approach 7k pounds. I've always decided that if I'm constantly towing anything over 7k, its time for a 3/4 ton.
It just hit me as Im watching this video.. Ive NEVER seen a Titan commercial. I just got in from my morning walk and I see Tundras - old and new but as I was thinking about it - Ive never seen a Titan out driving. (in the neighborhood). And all of that is funny because Ive been looking at them as my next work truck
I am sure I remember seeing the Cummins powered Titans before. I only have about 20 houses in my neighborhood though and 3 of them have a Titan. Every single one needs repainted. Those 1st gens had awful paint. Pretty much every one around here at min needs the roof and hood repainted. My next door neighbor has got so bad its the tops of the fenders and quarters too so now might as well just paint the whole damn thing. Its an 06 he bought like 7 years ago and the hood and roof were already bad then. He paid way to much for it too. He paid $15k for a 10 year old 2wd truck with 120k miles. I was looking for a new truck myself at the time I would have sold him my loaded Silverado for that with less then half the miles, 4x4, and a few years newer. He should have said something. I am a dealer no matter what I could have got him something he wanted if he told me before he went and got torn apart at some dealer on that truck lol
A big problem not mentioned is the over all light duty and fragile nature of the titan. Sure it was great if you babied it but if you ever needed to push the boundries stuff will break. Example 1 the first one i came across was my friends. Brand new truck, going hunting and we went through some moderate mud. A few seconds into the wheels spinning it broke the rear left axle shaft. Another friend of mine has one that has the rear legt leaf spring poking through the bed becacause the shackle broke off the frame.
My buddy's got one, both shackle mounts went. And the brakes were woefully undersized for towing. He still has it, but it just sits there while he drives his diesel chevy
Meanwhile, I've overloaded my 2001 suburban to the point that it's on the bump stops more times than I can count and it just asks for more. The only problem I see with it is the transmission. Once you ditch the 4L60e for the 4L80e like I did it's a durable vehicle.
@Dane33781 same 07 ram here. Its a rust bucket but its at 230,000 cold ac still and been squatted to the max more times than i can count and still going strong
Had a leaf spring break on my 2007 Silverado and I rarely towed with it. Leaf spring failures are fairly common on a lot of trucks.
@nitzerebbhead yes but on this particular titan the leaf spring didnt break. The shackle holding it to the frame broke and the leaf spring litteraly punctured up thought the bottom of the bed. Pretty common problem evidently
I've owned 3 Titans... a 2008 SE 4x2 CrewCab, a 2006 SE 4x4 KingCab, and a 2014 Pro4X CrewCab.... I loved each of them while I had them and they each had features that I loved. I believe the 2008 was the first year a truck had the slow drop tailgate... it just doesn't slam down when you let it down.... it is also the first year they offered the LWB (which is what I loved about the my '06 KingCab). The only thing don't like about my 2014 Pro4X is that it is a SWB, and finding a LWB is very difficult, that full size bed is very useful. The one thing that really bothered me is that you could only get the larger sliding glass window in the CrewCab, not in the KingCab. Also, the 2nd Gen stopped making the larger roll down window and went back to the small sliding window.... a complete fail in my opinion. I will not buy a 2nd Gen simply b/c it does not have the roll down window -- I love being able to roll it down just and inch or so and also roll my front windows down just an inch and get such great air flow. I am also not a fan of the column shifter, I want that slap shifter. I will forever be in search of a Gen1 LWB CrewCab Pro4X (or LE)...
I walked onto a lot when they first came out. The price was astronomical, and the Fuel economy was roughly equivalent to a Sherman tank. Thats not what i was looking for in a Japanese pickup. I never considered one.
You don't buy a truck with fuel economy in mind.

I had a 2007 titan crew. I loved that truck and wish I never had traded it in. I love my ram but the titan will always have a place in my heart.
The problem with the Titan was except for when it was first introduced it always felt old and dated (to be fair this impacts most Nissan products introduced since 2002). Even high trim level trucks had what felt like rental car grade interiors. When you combine this with its numbers of being “almost good” it really never fit anywhere. I’ve been shopping to replace my 2013 F150 Lariat, and I looked at a 2019 Titan Platinum. I was dismayed at how badly everything felt and looked on the interior of this truck that was 6 years newer. It is like Nissan’s designers targeted current models of trucks at the time of engineering, but failed to add anything extra to account for the time it takes to go from development to production. The result was (especially with the 2016 redesign) you got a truck that looked, felt, and acted very much like a 3-4 year old truck from the Big 3.
I had a 2021 SV 4WD. I LOVED that truck? Why is it gone? I learned that the 2024 line was it. So, I traded it in for a 2024 SV Bronze edition. The exact truck in your back ground. It broke my heart they were taking this truck out of production. I had plans to drive the 2021 till the wheels fell off and then get another. I’ve owned everything but a ford in the truck line. The Titan absolutely shines. I hate that more people didn’t give this truck a chance.
I bought my 2004 SE King Cab 4x4 new, after being a Ford man most of my life. I've got only 170,000 miles of trailer towing miles on her, but she's never seen the inside of a garage or the dealership. I do my own maintenance and the only thing that's gone bad is the old carbon steel tail pipe and a driver's side electric window regulator, which I did myself. Most reliable 20 year old truck anyone could ever wish for. And now I learn it's being discontinued in 2025. Sounds like the perfect time trade in my old one for a new one to last me another 20 years! 😀
When I truck shopped 6 years ago to tow our TT we looked at them all. Nissan was first off the list. Their price was as high as anyone, they were the newest to the full size, got the worst fuel economy and family experience with other Nissans was bad. Short of their longer warranty they really never felt competitive.
With production stopping... no one wants an orphan
Nissan should have gone after affordability. Build a simple low cost truck to build sales volume and expand new customers. Instead they tried to go head to head with the big guys and failed!

When it comes down to payload and toll numbers, I believe the titan x d is more accurate than the payload of most 1500s 😮because of the beefy frame.
Totally agree. I helped my dad haul roofing for his house. We put about 1500lbs (20 bags of 75lbs) on his GMC Sierra 1500, it was squating about 3-4 inches. I had the same load on my XD and it maybe squat 1-2 inches and the XD drove like it didn't have any load in the back!! I love this truck
@@thecliffold5879 F150 for an example says it can tow over 1300lbs. From my experience the trailer controls the truck.

They don't ever realize that Ford's advertised numbers are for stripped down base model trucks(though that's true of all brands)

Totally agree here, mine squats way less than my previous 1/2 tons of similar years. I also felt their specs were underrated compared to how other brands measure theirs.
I love my 2019 XD Cummings. A helluva a lot cheaper than one of the big three heavy duty trucks and it is still very capable. It is extremely underrated for some reason. I tow a heavy fith wheel on a Reese Goosebox. The brakes are bigger than on an F350. It has an Aisin transmission just like the RAM HD. The frame is very heavy. They just needed to add more lugs on the hubs. A larger fuel tank would've been nice. One minor item I love while towing is the knob to change the height of the headlight beams. This should be standard on all trucks that are built for towing.
Not a Nissan Guy, I have liked the look of a few of their Models, the "Aggressive" looking ones over the years, and did like the 2016 Warrior Concept. Personally thought the Original Nissan Concept (one shown at the beginning) was Beyond Aztec Hideous, I know meant to show off features, but it would make a Train take a Dirt road, she needs to have the lights turned out and at least a case before I step inside deal.
What I thought Nissan should have done, to make that SPLASH, in order to Break into the Market, was Bite the Bullet, take a loss on each truck sold, breaking even or making a bit on the Fully Loaded ones, was to Have their Cummins come in at everyone else's ICE Gasser close to entry level price. Back when they introduced the Cummins, the BIG 3 outright were Refusing to bring in a smaller V8 Diesel into any of their 1.2 ton series. That is where Nissan should have gone in, made the BIG NEWS SPLASH, saying come over to Nissan and check out what we got, you get a CUMMINS Diesel for the same price as just above Entry Level Gasser of our Competition. Fully Loaded would be a different story of course, but that is up to the consumer.
The one thing I have noticed about all those Rear little compartments, is that anywhere North of Full Sun all the time, they All RUST. Neat idea, but ultimately a problem.
I also always thought the Nissan Titan, 1st Gen looked Great, the second looked like a Fubby Cousin of the F150. It lost it's Uniqueness in an attempt to bring in more customers and failed miserably.

If they had taken a $1000 off for a Cummins, it would have cost them 21 880 000 for that first year, a write off I am sure their Bean Counters could have found ways to write off and absorb.
If they had DISCOUNTED $2500 per Cummins (assuming all units sold were Diesels, they weren't) it would have been a 54 700 000 write off.
How much do you think they could have GROWN the brand if they had brought the CUMMINS price point down?

So yeah, they could have easily swallowed s fraction of that to PUSH their CUMMINs and Truck line. BUILD the Brand.
I have been a truck guy most of my life, and having several disappointments throughout my 60 years, I was introduced to the Titan. A very good friend bought a Nissan dealership and introduced me to the 2021 Titan Pro4X. I paused telling him I don’t know anyone who has one, and he told me to trust him. I did and bought the fully loaded Titan Pro4X and absolutely love the truck! Not one issue or complaint. Truly a shame that Nissan is stopping production.
