You don't technically save money on buying used consumable parts like a cassette, since their life span is already shortened (like in the case of cassettes, their teeth had already started to wear).
In some cases yes, but in the case of the red cassette I won't use it enough to bring it to the end of its life so it makes sense buying used in that sense. Also some people upgrading to 11/12s that have stockpiled new 10s stuff and just want to get rid of it can give good deals.
@@ArthurD Interesting! I have had my DA cassette for around 6000 km. Keep convincing myself it is worn... but I'm unsure (no skipping of the chain). Anything more to add?
@@oliverdowd1978 I definitely think it's worth it I've had them for about a year now I've got impaired up with gp5000 Continental Tyres absolutely love them you can pretty much have them forever because you can fix the tube but with only there puncture repair kit.

Tell that to dura-ace cassettes, they're almost eternal.

Weight wise yes, but I'm still not decided on if it's worth the rolling resistance penalty
