Cervelo S5 Build: a UCI ILLEGAL bike
After a couple years of riding the Fred-Works, a new bike has come into my life. Almost 10 years after it's launch I'm finally able to afford an s5 frameset.

Mechanical rim brake S5 vs di2 disc Ostro
มุมมอง 4463 หลายเดือนก่อน
Which is faster? My 2023 Factor Ostro Vam with an ultegra di2 groupset and black inc wheels. Or can my 2015 Cervelo S5 with a SRAM red groupset and winspace hyper wheels beat it to the line. How much faster have bikes become in the last 8 years?

Stanley Park Bike Lane Controversy! What's happening?

Ultra budget super bike build and review
Great video! Thanks for taking the time to make this
Your welcome! I appreciate the positivity
Did you ever get a bike fit?
No, I've slowly changed my position over the years to a point where I'm comfortable now
Cybrei cranksets are also well worth a look - so much so that Pog has one on his TT bike with a sticker over the name. His mechanic forgot about the back of the crank though...
Yes this was another option, but they don't come in a 24mm axle which I prefer since all my bikes use this standard, and they're a bit pricier
Western Competition ! All Shimano, Durace and SRAM are not Western. They are Japanese. Japan is just a water skip from China.
Hahaha very true and easy to forget. Most people say western I guess they mean companies that have focused traditionally on western targeted marketing.
Puraaaa basura ni loco uso esas palanca x aseguridad lo barato sale caro arriesgar nooo copia berreta de sram voy cpn bielas shimano ultegra 12v sin pensar o mínimo 105 12v eso es porquería
Have you ridden it outside and done a proper sprint on it?
I've ridden it outside and done a couple sprints on it. Only 1100w peak power since I'm not a really big rider.
Thank you for posting and for showing the parktool to use. Some of the aliexpress reviews stated they didn't know which tool to use. Would be nice if they stated it on aliexpress. I am thinking about getting this same crank. Again thank you for showing us how to install it.
Tat
riro lexon. you need cautious this crank made for maximize cost efficiency. this crank not made for accommodate the pro with power. if you casual rider you good to go. but if you sprinter who have massive power in your leg. high possibility this crank bolt will failure. and the carbon not to special the build quality is standard i cannot talk much about this thing, i only say what i experience and sharing with my own community. i got mine broken in the area where the thread securing pedal it came off in the middle of hilly area ride. if you a type of rider often do sprinting above 800-900 watt or pushing hard in climbing do not use this thing. better you get burn your cash for red e1 but your safety is guarantee.
Interesting, did this happen to you. I wasn't worried about the bolt failing I was more worried about the spindle or chainrings failing at first.
@@oliverdowd1978 that is fatal if it happen in ride.
Yes but are these cranks any more unsafe than Shimano cranks which have had issues debonding in the past? Hard to say?
@@oliverdowd1978 i can say yes this thing unsafe if the pro use it. the metal material they use for the as rot are not as good as used in shimano or sram. lexon riro goldix and other ali brand crank set use the same metal alloy as rod. this 24mm alloy is often break into two piece if the rider put to much force. some not break into two piece but the joint between the crank arm and the as rod are loosen or snap. this is rare occasion and i believe it due lack of inspection and metal quality.
@@endtimeslips4660 Did you buy this crank and it failed on you? Or did you buy a different aliexpress crank and it failed on you, if so which crank was it? This 24mm spindle is made from titanium, not aluminum. The 29mm spindle is made from aluminum, as is Sram Red per my understanding, but I'm not sure which grade of aluminum Sram uses and what grade of aluminum Lexon uses.
Thanks for putting up the review they seem like a great crankset, strong following on Chinertown. I'm keen to run these with 12speed ultegra R8100 chainrings. Most likely improved front shifting, and save 35g over the Ryet ones.
They ruined it with the swappable spindle, added like 40 grams
Yeah but I guess the folks wanting a power meter would be happy with this move.
Doesn't really change anything on that front
torque wrenches are a good investment... princess auto or aliexpress
I have one but it only goes up to 8nm
@@oliverdowd1978☹️
Thursday's 2 hour cadence session: what cadence (low/high)? & what power zone?
5.9kg
The new Scott has nothing on me!
th-cam.com/video/h3k_C4Gj3Is/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YIlCN2y-4rtpn20l Just uploaded the weigh in video
6830 grams 🙂, with rim brake, for small frame size, it would be quiet easy to get sub 6.8. but I guess yours is large size, so it's hard to tell...
Good guess! I'm on a 56 so not small but also not massive. I think this is also probably the lightest colorway too
You were close. I just uploaded the weigh in th-cam.com/video/h3k_C4Gj3Is/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YIlCN2y-4rtpn20l
Great video
why so little malto? I've read 1:1 of sugar to malto
That was when the science was talking about 2:1 glucose fructose ratio. Now things are moving to a 1:0.8 ratio
Good riddance to that bike lane. I hated it. Now that it's gone, I can again enjoy riding the park road.
Good for roadies. Bad for recreationalists and beginners IMO.
@@oliverdowd1978 Not really. I ride that road quite frequently and often see recreationalists on it. As with all road cycling, riders keep to the right hand side and cars pass on the left lane. It works well. The road is not for beginners since they really don't like that hill. Beginners and most recreationalists ride the Seawall and then along Beach Ave. which has a full width segregated bike lane. But, what has really changed is the absence of the wrong way riders. That has made the road much safer. Stanley Park is much better without that stupid bike lane.
no more fredworks?
Sadly no more fredworks
Another factor (ha) for consideration: power meter installation procedure. For ideal comparison the pedals would be uninstalled/reinstalled, ridden for a set amount of time, and then a zero offset calibration taken prior to testing each bike
Yeah I did do a calibration before each run but that's it.
Cool footage, what tent are you using?
I was using the mec spark 1
@@oliverdowd1978 Do you recon theres a decent place for a hammock? And are there too many bugs during late October? How often are park rangers up there at night? And lastly have you seen people have bonfires up there?
@@patrickbedruz6475 there would be a place to hammock a bit lower down from the summit. Not sure about the bugs in October but I'd imagine there's less. I think Ranger visits are very rare. Bonfire would be a no go.
@@oliverdowd1978 Thanks so much for the replies and all the info! Is bonfire a no go because theres a fireban still? Or is it a "no go" cause theres a sign just like a "no camping sign"?
Love it! More ride content is needed for Vancouver
Definitely!!
Great recap, hardest group ride ive ever done
if I am around 4:30 on Sharon and 5:20 on Grouse Sign to Sign do I have any biz on CAC or 602?
Only one way to find out!
He's back!!!
This hike is for the very fit and there are 2 creeks you have to cross which can be slipped. No cell phone coverage . Hke with a buddy. It's 2 grouse grinds in total and descending in the dark is foolhardy. Consider biking up the trail as far as you can and stashing your bike for a faster exit
hypothetically speaking if i wanted to spend the night here with some buddies, how should i go about not getting caught by the rangers?
Atta boy Ollie!!

Actually the families / tourists use the walking path as their bike lane lol😂
Did they remove it? Can do post an updated video? Thx also in Vancouver.
Your bike was screaming for mercy after you launched.
nice ride ! we need a van tour !
More of this racing content! Hope you're doing well buddy!
Thanks Erik! I'm doing great!

You don't technically save money on buying used consumable parts like a cassette, since their life span is already shortened (like in the case of cassettes, their teeth had already started to wear).
In some cases yes, but in the case of the red cassette I won't use it enough to bring it to the end of its life so it makes sense buying used in that sense. Also some people upgrading to 11/12s that have stockpiled new 10s stuff and just want to get rid of it can give good deals.
Tell that to dura-ace cassettes, they're almost eternal.
@@ArthurD Interesting! I have had my DA cassette for around 6000 km. Keep convincing myself it is worn... but I'm unsure (no skipping of the chain). Anything more to add?
@@georgec2894 be careful when riding bicycle or you'll end like me, with a broken elbow. That's all I can add to this.

Lol, that closed gate at the top is ridiculous. Gotta hand it to the Park Board, we end up with the worse of all worlds.
amazing 10/10
Great vid and explanation
Glad you liked it!
Motorists are cancer, so we shouldn't give into their demands.
There's a place for multi lane roads in the world, Stanley park is not that place
Its look like the venge vias, not the venge 2018
if you want to save the most weight for the most little amount of money buy Tubolito Tubes
Weight wise yes, but I'm still not decided on if it's worth the rolling resistance penalty
@@oliverdowd1978 I definitely think it's worth it I've had them for about a year now I've got impaired up with gp5000 Continental Tyres absolutely love them you can pretty much have them forever because you can fix the tube but with only there puncture repair kit.
@@morganCycleStuff I was thinking of picking up just one to keep in my saddle bag since they are so much smaller and it would save a lot of room

Pretty cool work. Awesome that the bike fully functional. Why don't you vinyl wrap the repaired area?

Thanks for the video do you plan on cleaning up the finish a little?
I will probably get some nail polish and paint it over
