BARGRLLO!!! my mom and I did three back to back to back. they got better each time through! I cannnot sew a straight line, and the numbers and things were harder for her. So, she did the sewing, and I did the organization on the strips. They turned out GORGEOUS!
I just had someone in my quilt group show me a picture of a quilt made with this technique. She said she would never be able to do anything this difficult, and I told her there’s a trick. Now with your video, we will plan on doing a project.
That's so awesome! I love that! I did a Surf Song for my Patreon and I will be making another design this year on here, can't wait to go back to it, it's so much fun!
I made a trip around the world for my third ever quilt..steps are similiar .and absolutely love the way you are drawing us in. Am smiling as I am watching you
I’ve been wanting to make a Bargello quilt for a long time…. I think I bought a Christmas quilt kit and pattern about 5 yrs ago that is made with this same process. This month would be a good time to started on a Christmas quilt…Thank you for the encouragement.❤
I agree! July is when I start planning my Christmas projects, I want to take my time with them and get them started when I'm on vacation. Sounds like an awesome plan!
I have never attempted a Bargello quilt before, but I have done Bargello needlepoint and loved it! Thank you for once again inspiring me to try something new. ❤️
Kudos to those who are happy to do it. But I would always now cut not rip fabric by my choice, it can give a smooth finish and will lie flatter for joining blocks together.
Sandy, that is super Cool! I want to try THIS. I'm so very happy. It made me smile. You always make me smile!! Thank you for your positive attitude. Thank you for sharing this with us. Huggles Always 💖🎉😊🧵🪡✂️🦓🍀🌹🙏🤟💖
I’ve been out of touch for awhile, and it looks like you’ve got a new sewing room in the time I was away. How cool for you! Love the green wall behind you.
There are so many ways to make a quilt. We will never always agree on someone's process. Another question is, to pre wash or not. I never prewash. Many years ago, we made quilts with what we had. I think sometimes we've become terrible quilt snobs. Do what works best for you.
Just found you by accident and I love this video. I have made a small bargello in the past. It is great for jelly rolls. I will keep watching. Have a wonderful day.
I was trying to figure out how this was different from the quilt I had made before, which looked pretty much like yours did up until 5:20. So I guess the difference is just that despite a similar pattern, my blocks were all the same size. Interesting!
The essence of quilting is to take perfectly good fabric, cut it into small pieces and sew it back together. 😂 That’s how I explain it to non quilting people.♥️👍
Prints are not printed to straight grain. For garment sewing i like to pull a thread to find straight grain, never rip. Then the garnet can be hang correctly when worn etc. Quilting is a whole other thing. It can badly distort and even pull weft threads, distorting the printed image. To be a quilter that eventually takes on more complicated patterns, maybe explore not using tearing as a technique. Your colors you chose are lovely.
I like your energy and enthusiasm. I am new to quilting and got a bit lost when you changed the pattern. Could you do one where you finish the original pattern? Thanks!
Hi. Thanks. Yes, I will be making many bargellos in the future, I'm hooked! We're also doing a simpler pattern over at patreon, from top to finish, if you'd like to check that out. Have a great day!
I've made afew bargello quilts. So easy and beautiful..Yours reminds me of trip around the world I make, but my trip around is made with 2.5 strips.. As always your beautiful bubbly spirit is so refreshing 😂
Hi please show what the finished quilt before all the cutting and piecing instructions. I am lost if I don't know what the finished quilt top is supposed to look like! Thanks
Hi. I'm sorry at the time I didn't think of it, but I will be making a Christmas bargello where I will be showing the complete version, so stay tuned hehehe. Happy quilting! 😁
I just cringed when you tore the fabric. Lol to be I would rather cut it. It doesn't stretch it that way. But to each his own! Lol loved how it looked.
I know, it's a very heated debate, that one... I love how good and liberating it feels to rip fabric but I am also fully aware of the "consequences" of doing it, so I do both, depending on the project and the fabric 😄 I love getting your input , thank you 😊
Wow that's so cool. Thank you I will try making one but I got so many projects to work on. Lol. My fabrics are piling up. One thing I'm afraid to tear the fabrics.
Incorporating it into the strip tube so sections of the panel will move like the other 2.5" strips, but on the middle so it will never flip from top to bottom of quilt.
It's very similar, the difference being each strip is cut in different widths to give it a 3D look you don't see on a trip around the world, but the process is pretty much the same, other than that
I'm very much ashamed to say I have returned to it but stalled again. I've made like two if the bigger rosettas and a couple smaller ones and I haven't began to assemble them. But it is coming and I will be recording the whole thing! How is it going for you?
To get a straight line. When she snips the end she’s creating a mark so when she tears the cotton, it tears down the grain making it straighter than cutting that length of material. There’s a few types of materials that this can be done with, however I don’t remember all of them
@@donnarowe6027they used to do this in the fabric store when we bought fabric. As fabric decreased in quality it became an issue. Good fabric will tear straight.
love the pattern - but not ironing and sewing over needle or tearing the fabric is a total nogo for me. try ironing it´ll make a huge difference! And try to put the needles from the other side in - makes it easy to get them out while sewing. i recognized, that you are pulling on the fabric while running it through - is there something wrong with the transporter? That should not be needed with just that two layers of fabric.
Guys... I had such a blast making this vide! So much fun!!! Ever heard of a Bargello Quilt? Ever tried making one? Now's your chance! Enjoy!
It doesn’t stretch if you tear on the straight.
That's all we ever did in the old days

Not yet, I'm getting to one of those really soon 😃 because I changed the sizes of the pieces, this is more round shaped

@@BEVERLYRANDOLPH-lx4qu I love it! People get so confused 😂😂😂
I was told never to tear fabric for patchwork as it stretches it and makes it hard to match precisely....
I love ripping fabric if I think the project can take it, it's freeing and fun. But not all projects allow it for that exact reason.
Wow, indeed, I’ve never seen anyone ripping “quilting fabric” & would never even think of it….The only fabric I will rip is RAGS!!!
Ripping the fabric makes it straight on the grain. Before I start to cut I tear a straight edge. Starch press then start cutting

Not any more I hope 😉

Why are you tearing? That’s primarily for heirloom sewing, in my experience. Just asking for a friend.
I like to rip fabric if I think the project can stand it, it's a lot of fun and kind of freeing 😃
