    Is the 2022 911 Porsche Sport Classic the most engaging grand tourer available?
    The 2022 Porsche 911 Sport Classic is a combination of cars that aims to be several things. Part celebration of Porsche heritage, part engaging grand tourer, with a bit of exclusivity thrown in. The first 911 Sport Classic was built on the 997 platform and while rare (only 250 were made) it was ultimately a Carrera S with a body kit and a 20 horsepower bump. This one is a bit more special.
    This new Sports Classic is a bit more unique. Offered in four colors, it gets the 543HP engine from the Turbo but power only goes to the rear wheels. Even better, it's only offered with a manual transmission. Is it a milder GT2? Is it too close to the already-impressive 911 GTS? Let's find out.

      I agree with all that except that we are getting to the point where none of these cars will actually be driven. So for the TRUE enthusiast who actually prefer to DRIVE our cars, we get hosed.

      That’s exactly what they did with the 2016 911r which where going for around 500-600k a few weeks after launch before dropping, and now Porsche released a better & cheaper non-limited version with the GT3 touring which actually caused the R value to tank a bit!

    • @TheBucketOfTruth
      @TheBucketOfTruth ปีที่แล้ว +9

      The people who buy these aren't doing it because it's good value for money. Unless you count the lack of depreciation. It's cause they want something special that a chosen few will recognize and that other people can't have. These cars have never been a great value compared to what they're based on, but they can become collectibles. I'd argue though if a new Turbo S is over 200k and you can't get a 992 GT2 yet, 270k for this with its low numbers and custom carbon bodywork is a totally fine price.

    • @Dominikmj
      @Dominikmj ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This car is probably not for anyone who is considering price and obstacle.
      The internal Porsche customizing branch, will do quite a lot of special wishes for your “normal” Porsche - if you can afford it. I don’t want to know, how much it cost only to paint your “normal GTS” with the paint and how much it would cost to give it the same interior. Plus this would not as much keep the resale value as a directly Porsche specced special edition.

      I have got to say - if compared to other “exotics” like Ferrari, Porsche is a steal. Some people might want to attract attention like a parrot (with a Ferrari or Lambo) - but some people like to be just understated - with style. This is what I like with Porsche. In most countries you drive a Ferrari either way only from time to time (otherwise its in the Garage) or you are a pimp (or similar show off).
      Porsche’s are easy to live with - perfect to drive - and only car nuts understand, what type of special car you are driving (if you have got a special edition or a Turbo or a GT3 etc.).

    Vegan front suspension? Greatest line I've heard about a car.

    How does this compete with the GT3 touring with N/A engine and 9000RPM? I think I know it doesn't

    This seems great, until they roll out the 911 ST which will be a 3RS with a unique bodykit/possible manual.

    I like the package, it's got more character than most of the turbocharged 911s, whiffs of the old 930 about it which is cool, but only offering it as a special edition is a bit annoying. There's a $40k gap between the GTS and the regular Turbo to slot in a RWD base "Turbo 2" model!
