Lots of cheap car videos incoming don’t worry! Let me know if you’d like to see more of these “Brutally Honest” reviews from me
I drove this very basic 992 Carrera. I also drove on the same day a fairly loaded new 992 GTS which was almost £40k more but I struggled to identify the extra £40k’s worth of extra cost simply because the basic Carrera is so good on its own. Ok I know the engine is more powerful on the GTS but did I really need or use it……no so the basic entry car is so so good on its own.
Yes more of these please Joel.
Somebody has to do it.
The more simple the more basic specs less items to go wrong.Every petrol head should drive a 911.After 6 decades its still on the top of the tree. Its the only new car I would want bar none. This one of the best reviews of the 911 I ve seen for a long while.
I said this a couple of years ago already: You have a great talent of describing your driving experience on camera. It's emotional and informative at the same time. You should do more like this 😁
50 plus years motorsport in its dna pure genetics .porsche need we say more .I've owned these cars for a limited 15 years rubber n petrol amazing.yes services cost a few shillings but generally the feeling the car the poer n handling.and most important. THE EVOLUTION .PORSCHE WECSOLUTE YOU😊
The base already gives you 90% of what you would ever want.
Very true! And the overwhelming majority of drivers will not even scratch the surface of performance in a base 911 on public roads, much less a 640hp Turbo or a 500hp GT3.
It is a perfect road car.
had 2 Macans and a 911 is the ultimate goal...2 weeks ago traded my beloved M2 for a low miles base 991.2 descently loaded with Chrono/ PSE damn!! all smile in every miles lol
Nice review. It’s great to see PGB speccing (or not speccing!) a base car like that, shows proper confidence in their brand. Reality is most people wouldn’t notice the rear wheel steer etc etc “most” of the time. We can all get carried away with the options and the latest product. I recently drove a GTS and an S - couldn’t really see much difference in performance and the S rode so much better I felt I could carry more speed. Nice work Joel! 👍
Good lad, Joel. Sometimes, the personal experience is more important than anything else.
I love mine, Night Blue over Mojave w/RS Spyder wheels, slick roof, rear wiper, PSE, Sport Chrono, & Paldao Wood trim. Just had it tuned by APR, almost a different car.
a lot about a Porsche is what you don't feel, and by that I mean it takes away all the things that annoy you and then you are left with the steering feel - a feel that is missing from so many other cars
I’ve got a macanS. The handling and braking are superb
I did opt for the Carrera S for the Manual shift and convertible but I would have bought the base if I was able to get those 2 things. Nice review!
I'm looking to get a Cayman as an autoroute car for long trips to my place in France. I have a very comfortable car, which chews the miles up and carries all my gear, but I like the idea of doing a longer trip in something a little more engaging. I honestly don't think I'd get the most out of a 911, and I imagine operating costs are prohibitive to consider it a one car, daily driver, but after you review I'm kind of tempted!
Brilliant Joel. The thumbnail too, cracks me up. Well played.
Fantastic review! Such a beautiful and astute description of what it feels like to drive a 911.
Love the color. Racing yellow my favorite color 😂 I have a 991.1 2014 with the glass roof…I get a lot of compliments 👍
Nice video, currently a 911 doesn’t make sense for me financially.
But fortunately I live in North Wales, own a Cayman and retired early. Which is a great life combination in my mind 😀
Sweet ride Joel. If i could
Justify the price tag, its probably
the one i'd go for. Modern cars are
Brutally expensive though mate,
And heavy. Thats gotta be knockin
On 2 tons. Nice review Joel. 👍
911 is an icon, if you must scratch the itch you should. In my time I’ve enjoyed 5. Now have a 718 GTS 4.0 Boxster. IMO Porsche’s best convertible sports car for daily & Yorkshire B roads. N/A engine (unavailable in a 911 unless it’s a track focused GT or ‘gulp’ inducing prices), sound, size, balance, rotation, emotion, real buttons in a timeless design. Snap one up while you can, it’s destined to be a classic 😊
I am probably in the minority but I've always loved yellow 911's!
Me too ! Don’t know why 😂
@@wayneslifestyle. 😆🤗
No you are right. Well at least I think they're the best too!
Best 911 is base 911. My pal just swapped a 991.1 4S with a load of options for a base 911.2 in base AF trim and has no regrets.
What a well put together and informative review of this stunning and impressive car. It's convinced me to order one today in Arctic Grey (with just a few home comfort additions!). Thank you . . . .
Glad it was helpful! Enjoy the car!
I have a guards red 2021 Carrera. Only options are sport Chrono and larger wheels. Honestly even those aren’t required. You will enjoy every moment in this car.
Tim….make sure you spec the optional extended range fuel tank.
Very inexpensive by Porsche standards….( about $250 )…and you have about 23 gal instead of 16.9 !
@@unclebob4964Ooh, I didn’t know that even existed. I’d definitely want that.
Really good review, I have a 991.1 C4S and love that, but halfheartedly thinking of an upgrade to a 992, your review has made me think more seriously and I’m going to try and get a test drive this weekend.
Absolutely stunning mate!
Nice video Joel, enjoyed watching this. Cheers 👌
Will u get a porsche back in your set? Another boxster?
Great video Joel. I too remember Dad doing donuts on the beach! 😂
Good times! 😊
The issue with any new Porsche is the arrogance from the dealerships, they’re absolutely infuriating and it’s a cultural issue, tiered down from the top. You can’t simply go an buy a new Porsche, oh no, they decide if you’re worthy, then make you wait, hike up the price a couple of times to wring out a bit more money, they’ve got it sewn up for sure. Absolutely beautiful cars, I’ve had 2 in the last 2 years, both haven’t been fault free either, itch has been scratched now, i will spend my cash with an other manufacturer on the next run. There are so many great cars out there. But nothing gives that Porsche feeling with regards to ownership, very special cars indeed. I may be tempted back for the 992.2 maybe. Cracking vid mate and stunning car! Well done on the channel
My dealer Hennessy atlanta Georgia was a pleasure to deal with.
Come on, man - in fairness, you have to be worthy.
Not my experience at all, I have 992 and it was a pleasure, my Wife has just taken delivery of Macan she went for demonstrator and she could not fault the experience, flowers were a nice touch.
@@alanwayte432 - never had that experience either. I was deemed worthy 40 years ago, so maybe I've got that going for me :).
Completely not true. I bought my 992 Carrera by taking my Cayman in for a service, saw the 911 there with 50 demo miles on it, paid a deposit and took it home a week later after we agreed on a price for my Cayman. I’ve never once had my Porsche dealer play funny games with me. They even offered me a GT3RS they had on the forecourt if I had the £310k to spare.
I bought a used 992 carrera S with 2000 mikes on the clock, the first owner choose the manual 7 speed which shaves 35 Kg vs pdk and adds sport chrono, Racetex steering wheel, rear cam plus front park sensor, pasm sport, pse, aluminium sunroof , sport plus seat, black painted wheels, metallic paint, that’s it no electric folfing glass, lift, glass sunroof, rear wheel steering , 18 adjustable seats, ventilés or heated seats all these options are associated with hydraulic engine and at the end it ends some extra weight that you really save. , mine is undeff rdv 1500 kg dry which is one of the lightest out of an S/T. The driving joy despite the opf is still ok, main quality ixx de that you can feel ghat all had been developed at a very best level anc finally the all packages is so good in terms of dynamic, ergonomic , traction. A T could also be ok but in my country the crazy tax on ci2 made it impossible to purchase without paying almost as much gas a Turbo of 2020.
I totally echo what @Macstone9719 says. There are many car TH-camrs and many I like, but there’s something really refreshing about your content. Without being condescending, you’re a young guy. Very likable. You’ve shared part of your personal story and family. Very relatable and you’re not trying to be Jeremy Clarkson. I’m sure you appreciate how lucky you are to experience these amazing cars, but you created the opportunity for that experience. Congratulate yourself. Brilliant content, editing and delivery. Born a car enthusiast I’m quite sure!
I've had a dozen 911s. Took delivery of a 2023 in April. Best one ever. A luxury sports car, fast as hell and nimble. Hellacious acceleration. Very imposing and I put an aerokit on it.
I feel my old 997 S manual is perfect, I just keep on thinking the 992 is just too wide.
I grew up having annual holidays in north Wales! Really enjoyed this video 👌
I understand you can’t order a manual on a 911 base; you can order it in the Carrera T
Great review!
Another great Video! Was great to meet you today! Keep it up!
Thanks for coming to say hi!
The very best 992 is the base 911 Carrera. I know this because I’ve owned seven Porsches: Macan S, Macan GTS, Macan Turbo (which I still have), 981 Boxster GTS, 718 Boxster, 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 and more importantly a 992 Carrera 4S tuned to 628hp by Litchfield. Despite my new 992 991 base Carrera being 250hp down on power over my tuned 4S it is actually a much better drive! Being rear wheel drive only it weighs less and feels more lively and nimble. The base 911 with Sports Chrono actually does 0-60 in 3.2 seconds! I’ve come to the realisation that you don’t need any more power for UK’s public roads. It’s all the 911 you will need. Forget all their halo 911 models with silly horsepower, wings, 4WD and gimmicks, they are made for track days, not public roads.
Mandatory options would be Sports Chrono, Sports Exhaust, adaptive cruise and 18-way memory seats. I bought my base 911 from my Porsche dealer’s forecourt with 50 demo miles on it, and it had £30k of options fitted, but was discounted £12k off list. A case of right place at the right time.
great car my Z4 has a divers feel the and rs3 and rs5 feel like computer controlled numb steering, but I do like them all
Please try and figure out what happed to the Toyota and if its still around buy it looks like
Last mot expired in June 2016
With 194,922 miles on the clock
A turbo S must be frightening on normal roads 😊
It can be, it can be 😂😂
Yes it is 😊
Love that place mate absolutely awesome
Is l full eather interior standard..In US it is extra cost
Great video Joel, so sounds like you should buy one😋😉
This car is on my short list of cars that make me play the lottery 😂
You lucky man great video 😊
accurate report upon what is a fantastic car, just traded my Carrera 2 and awaiting a T. At the price, takes some beating with strong residuals.
Seems like you've fallen for it! Love the 911 steering, although I've only ever experienced the GT3... So, when are you buying one? 😉
With £97k burning a hole in my pocket, I'd be at a Jag dealership for a last edition F Type. If it has to be a Porsche, I think a Cayman 4.0 with a personalised spec would be a better use? There would be change too!
I can't really believe how well designed the basic shape of a 992 is. Even in this basic trim, it looks so nice just with the colour. Where on older models like a 996 or 997 you needed to have the widebody version and some other bits to make it look nice, this 992 is just basically all you need. I think Porsche realizes, and that's why they brought some press cars with basically no extra kit (in the Netherlands we have an orange one that a lot of reviewers used). Its just very good news also for us enthousiasts, that in the future we don't need to be able to afford some ridiculous GT3 RS model to have a great car.
I spec’d a 911 base with heritage interior and reverse camera. Done.
What a great review!
You guys are very lucky to buy it for 100K - in Denmark basic 992 costs 322K £
I used to not like Porsche very much for some reason, now I absolutely love them and will definitely own one at some point! (Not a brand new one tho)
Why not a new one ?
@@Dejan_23Unlimited too expensive 🤣
Awesome video! Thanks. I’m looking at 911 now and would love to own one some day!
Definitely something special about the 911. I had the pleasure of driving a few and wow, that PDK gearbox really sticks with you. It's basically instant.
My 911 will be 2024 T,,manual trans,,simple set up and priced right and drive it everyday
Do you have it allocated ?
Options will skyrocket the price very quickly.
One option I really think you should look at…..and at about $250.00, it’s one of the most reasonable, is the extended range fuel tank.
Instead of about 16 gal, you’ll have about 23.
You can pretty much all but ignore the fuel gauge.
I’ve had my Macan for 5 years and took delivery on my 2023 911 10 weeks ago.
They are both absolutely amazing !!
@@unclebob4964 my son sells them at dealership,,on east coast
Such a cool car
You missed a big opportunity. If you had had Katie drive it, and she went on about how wonderful it was for her to drive too, then every viewer would have forwarded this to their wife to induce a 911 purchase. Win win, it would have been
Weirdly, I love that spec.
Should have done some donuts on the beach.
You stated that this was a Base 911? Is the “Navigation System” standard? Reason I ask, is I’m on the cusp of buying a 911. Unsure right now….but “considering it”.
A gorgeous looking car end of😊
What a beauty
Years ago on another 911 release are saw a press car with this yellow colour scheme at the local Sainsbury's. Happened to see the journo drive of with a giant grin on his face.
Just did a build, same color yellow no options 116,050 US dollars, ouch! Plus wait for a allocation😂
Excellent video 👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️👏👏👏👏
Great video, Joel. I reviewed the Carrera S last year, and found myself nodding in agreement with all your comments. I drove it hard along some of my favourite mountain roads, then a few months later, did the same roads in my base 981 Boxster. Incredibly, the Boxster actually outperformed the 911 along the most challenging road. I like your style, mate, so have subscribed. Greetings from Australia. 🦘🇦🇺👍
The 911 always did have a lovely rump...!
This is my perfect car, although maybe not yellow, it's all you need, everything else is up to you, how you drive, your skills. Turbos, 4 wheel drive, GT3, GTS, great for the track, hard core racing, but for epic fun on pubic roads, this machine is the best.
lots of story , that is why we always love cars, because it links family. thanks for your video
great video
How was the road noise at highway speed?
Porsche have now changed the base 911 to use Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and they are super-quiet on motorways (at least they are on my 992). Porsche worked with Michelin to reduce the noise substantially. They are much quieter than the noisy Pirelli’s I had on my 992 4S and have a far longer life.
Great review. I’m tempted to buy a 911. Need some advice, would you go for a 991.2 4S or an entry level 992? Thanks
992
991.2 4S if you've got a lot of inclement weather to require/take advantage of the AWD and, assuming PDK, for its much nicer console (incl +/-) shifter.
@@springertube live in England, constantly raining, don’t get much snow. But I figured if i bought a spec car like a 4s it would be a better seller in future in terms of appreciation than a 2S
@@sirz258 The "4" is not good just for snow but more sure-footed (peace of mind for a daily) in the wet and slick stuff as well. If one is available I would try one out before deciding either way. The 991.2 4S will have more standard performance equipment/spec (the "S" part) than a base 992 as well. For a nice video, admittedly 991.1 4S, type "Evo 4S" - when the auto journalist Henry Catchpole was still with the magazine (has since moved on to different venues incl on YT) - a great glimpse at the advantages of the 4's AWD system in the wet.
That is a truly sincere love letter to the 911 ❤ 😊Thank you, sir!
I hate to be a PITA, but when you're giving metrics on things could you give them in also for your continental cousins please, even if its just an onscreen version of what you're saying about consumption, speed, whatever. Cheers, keep up the great work!
Noted, will do that for the next BH review!
@@itsjoel Cheers Joel. I'm a Brit, but as I've been on the continent for decades I'm thinking everything in metric.
your tire filled at 25 psi? or is that different measurement?
2.5 bar...
Certainly sounds better than all the Ferrari flatplane cranked V8s!
I'll take that car please, where do I pay... Beautiful 😊
I would love to see this in the flesh, I am always undecided about the yellow, it looks amazing on camera though
You are a true story teller, that’s what sets you and your videos apart 👌and that’s actually a great talent to build and develop further. You will become very successful in live.
Cheers mate.
If I won the lottery this is the car I will buy
Only once you have owned a 911 turbo, then you understand how special they all are💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Awesome review fella! …. 🤪
Great video and I think your channel and reviews are excellent. As for the car...I love mine but I set my expectations appropriately...build quality? Well, let's just say when you live with it daily you find their weak points.
where is that beach i want to visit it
These base 992s are excellent cars, l honestly don't see the need to spec up one, best car for the money.
So one of these over an r8?
50,000 dollar difference…
And to cap off with everything that you said it's a Porsche there's no substitute The history of the brand will always stay at the highest level.
That very car has already been in Harrys garage.
Bro what's your problem? Why would you bring it to the beach 🤦🏾♂️
I guess because it's not yours and won't worry about the sand that's going to be in it forever
Not yellow colour haa
Everythink!!!!!!
It's a nice car, to be sure. But with turbos and paddles, it's hardly a 'purist's dream'.
great content but couldn't see the brutal part tbh :)
Transmission thanks to VW just another version of
to be a purist's car, it needs to be a standard, all 911's should be manuals
I'd suggest it is the " least expensive " Porsche you can buy as there is nothing cheap about 97K ! 🙂
You enjoy the throttle
response ! Try a Tesla ! utterly instantaneous!
Even a £60K one will kick sand in the 911’s face!
But an ugly, soulless, appliance......cheap as chips second hand too
I have a Tesla S and 991.2 The Tesla is a 1 trick pony, absolutely no way would it keep up on a twisty B road or Track, Tesla takes your breath away for first month...but build quality is poor, ride is harsh..but driving into London and from Tax point of view Tesla is ok
Should be manual
Arabayla mı aşk yaşıyorsun? 🙃
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🚘
I had a 2021 new 911 992 S. it was a totally shit car. 9 !!!!! factory faults and I sold it I’ve had 5 Porsches. The 992S is the worst no quality control
1 &2 two broken door actuators micro switch
3&4 two blown and broken Bose front speakers
5&6 broken leaking left and right rear brake turn lights
7 broken cracked from the inside brake strip
8 broken gear lever cracked right through
9 worm seat bolster after only 12 month
I had issue with my 991.1 but my 992 has been absolutely fine in 8000 miles, the build quality is fantastic compared to 991
Your sitting too far forward, angle of your knees too high
🤦♂️🤡
ITS ALMOST PERFECT EXCEPT THAT IS HORRIBLY OVERPRICED.
Nonsense when BMW M4 is £75k
