    When you get your hands on the high speed resin, I'd like you see you try it on one of your older printers as well to see if you can print just as fast without the new printer.

      I believe they are only giving to reviewers so they get better results. They don't want you to know that your old printer is just as good. Only a theory but makes sense, time will tell. Of course, Jessy could just test it with standard resin and FEP. Anycubic is doing the same
      thing. Anycubic is now selling high speed resin.

    Jeez. I'm remembering when the Saturn was a big deal at its launch starting at 499. HOw far we've come.
    Also gotta agree with you on the bed screws. I hated how Elegoo did them before and when I got myself a Phrozen Mighty 4K I switched to them because they did that. It's nice not having to worry about the bed swiveling all over the place and being lined up with the vat.

    i've been hanging fire on a replacement for my original Saturn (really wanted another with network connection), and placed my pre-order for the Saturn 3 Ultra yesterday as soon as it went live - delivery will probably not be until August (UK) - so plenty of time for Chitubox to update with a profile, and for others to see what baseline settings work well with the various resins. so looking forward to the massive uplift in resolution from my original.

    I'm a bit bummed that Elegoo removed the Ethernet port from the Saturn 3. I tend to prefer stationary devices be hardwired since... well, they're not going anywhere anyway. Of course, there's nothing wrong with offering Wi-Fi too, but make it like a computer printer and simply allow for Ethernet with Wi-Fi fallback (if desired).

  • @davidf2281
    @davidf2281 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    4:06 Warning: If it's the same as my Saturn 2 (and I'm sure it will be) those are NOT standard USB ports; they just use a USB connector, which Elegoo should not be doing. Those ports output 24V, whereas USB spec is 5V.
    TL;DR: if you plug anything other than Elegoo air filters into those ports you will immediately fry whatever it is you plugged in.

    • @davidf2281
      @davidf2281 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@metatechnologist For the resin printers, yes you are locked into using Chitubox. It sucks. But I do all my supports in PrusaSlicer then export the whole thing as an STL into Chitubox. That means you can just use it in a very minimal way to produce a file that the Saturn understands.

Or a direct comparison against the anycubic photon mono M5 which seems to have a very very similar spec sheet including Wi-Fi printing bill dimensions and 12 k resolution. I have been using the creality halot Plus for 4 months and loving it but randomly my touch screen stopped responding to touch input and so now it's a paperweight so I'm looking for a new one that is maybe a little higher resolution between $400 and $500 and this printer and the photon mono M5 are the two I'm debating, do you think this one is worth the $100 more

    Hi Jessy! First... thank you for what you do!!! My wife bought me a Saturn 3 (not the Ultra) for Xmas. I'm having lots of support failures. The exposure times seem dialed in well with the Cones of Calibration device and I've always used slower lift speeds for this very reason. I have an Elegoo Mars 3 Pro and I've only had two failures with over 550 hours of printing. However, I keep getting support failures with the Saturn 3 even with tried and true lift speeds and heights... :( ANY RECOMMENDATIONS??? Help me Obi-Jessy... you're my only hope! ;)

    • @remofalius
      @remofalius 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You have a marker on the tank on how much resin it can contain and before slicing the file you can check on your software how much resin it will take to print it. I wouldnt reccomend stoping the print for refiling the tank for any reason.

      The 4 Pro has the interesting segmented bed, where for small models you only heat the center. The Pro is going to 2 months longer to ship to Australia which made my decision easier.

    Im more interested in that new Anycubic with the auto-leveling, my Saturn 2 does great, detailed mini printing, but I hate having to level it

    hello
    I do not understand it should be faster than the Anycubic m5s with 150km / h but in your tests the Anycubic seems faster for you who have tested both which is the fastest to print at equal print size ?

    • @EggyBreadWorkshop
      @EggyBreadWorkshop ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The speed of the print on both machines boils down to the new high speed resins both companies are coming out with. If you print on either machine with your standard resins, the prints aren't going to be any faster. Both machines are basically the same, but the Anycubic offers self-leveling and resin runout detection (debatably also failed print detection but apparently that doesn't actually work from what I've seen). I imagine if you used the high speed resins on your current printers, you could still get very fast prints.

    so now need to do a side by side of this one and the anycubic M5s, trying to decide what would be the better buy. Bigger build volume vs auto leveling.......

    • @danteinferno6513
      @danteinferno6513 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So What do you choose? I still don't know personally, because both sides seems to be not completely honest with customers : Anycubic doesn't show us more about features like force detection, failure detection and diagnosis and for many people their after sale service is just hawful... Elegoo try to sell us a Saturn 2 revamped with the same 12k screen as Anycubic but at a too much higher price and no real videos about print resolution/comparison with 8k or the 150mm/h they promise... And both don't communicate about spare parts prices, so maybe 12k screen costs half the price of the entire machine, we don't know sh*** about it... The more time, the more I think that I will pass on both of the two. 🤔

    hello Uncle Jessy, just wondering if this printer can be use for printing jewelry? im planning to try this out with the resin from powerresin, which is directly castable.

    Resolution is only 9k on y-axis (pixels are rectangular) don't fall for the hype.

    Any chance Elegoo is going to offer the option to upgrade older 3d resin printers? I just bought a Saturn 8K not even 2 months ago and I would rather upgrade the existing machine than drop money on a new one even though those new machines are really REALLY nice.

    I'm a bit disappointed you didn't compare it to the anycubic m5s. In fact, you didn't even mention it despite them being direct competitors. That and the video was sponsored by elegoo. I'm sure it's a great printer but it makes it tough to take your review at face value.
