Buy WARGAMER - The best Resin for Miniatures yesthats3dprinted.com/pages/wargamer?ref=FauxHammer
VERY helpful video. Literally one of THE MOST comprehensive and straightforward printer comparison videos I've ever seen & I've been in this hobby for over half a decade now. Definitely earned my like & subscribe.
Just got my Saturn 3 Ultra, was on my third calibration print and a part failure on the print head caused the print to fail and damaged the ACF. One of the little black rubber plugs in the hex screws that connect the mount to the print head came off and got crushed into the ACF by the print head. Highly recommend removing these. Their only purpose seems to be to discourage the user from undoing these screws instead of the leveling screws.
There is no print head on the Saturn. Do you mean the build plate?
Yes, my bad.
Man had to ego check you 🤦🏻♂️ it’s obvious you meant the build plate no further explanation necessary mans just got a tiny pee pee and a big ego
You've answered all my questions about this printer!
I was actually going to get the Creality Mage S 14K printer, but after having to navigate for ages just to find the correct website and very little info about my more "newbie" questions I have changed my mind and will be getting the Elegoo Saturn 3 Ultra.
The only thing I now would love to see (if it doesn't already exist) is a highly detailed step by step guide/tutorial on everything you need to do and absolutely should do when unboxing your very first resin printer! Thanks for all your informative work, I'll continue researching to make sure I make the best choice for me and my printing needs!
I'm returning my saturn 3 and getting an ultra based on this video. Thanks for the info dump, it was really helpful!
Incredible review. Thank you so much! I've been wanting an Ultra for a while - I just don't have room to place it and a wash+cure station yet.
I must say that I’ve been thinking a lot about which one to choose, this video helped me to decide, so thanks for doing the comparison 👍🏻🔥
Oooh which one and why?
$100 for a better buld plate fixture, ball screw, capacitive touchscreen and wireless file transfer seems like a great deal.
Just bought the Saturn 3 ultra based on your reviews. Thanks ❤
so happy i sent my m5 back and bought the ultra!
bought an additional vat with normal fep too but before seeing your review on the ultra. now i keep it as an extra one and eager to test out what the printer is capable of!
You’ll be happier when I release my M5 Vs M5s video
Just ordered my Ultra today with a $10 off coupon - this will be a nice upgrade from my orginal Saturn - thanks for the great comparison!!
Thanks for this review. I currently have a Saturn 2 8K and have been satisfied with it but would be nice to have even better quality prints. Is it worth upgrading to the Ultra 3 at this point? I know there's always something new waiting around the corner so it has me wondering if I should wait. Btwn this and the Anycubic M5, do you favor one over the other? I'll watch your video on that next.
I've been looking into getting into Resin printing for some time now. I am in the middle of building a Voron and want a resin printer to compliment it. You've made a comprehensive video for me to choose the Ultra to be my first Resin printer. Thank you.
Thanks for this comparison. I'm replacing a Saturn S with a dead screen that is glued in place and wish to upgrade. The Ultra seems like a natural progression for a reasonable price.
A great review and thank you!
Thanks so much
Instant like. I really appreciate your content!
Thanks so much
thanks for your videos! I am planning to buy one elegoo printer, but after seeing your mars 4 utltra and this video, I do not know if keep my choice or buy the saturn 3 ultra. I need the better detail possible, what do you suggest? In other reviews you did, I think you try to mention that the saturn 3 ultra is better than the mars 4 ultra. Thanks for your attention.
My Ultra literally just arrived this morning, so I'm delighted! Shall be interested to see how my ACF compares to yours with the Dredge prints as I have the STLs myself
If you wanna do them at 75mm, just scale the parts up 234%
How did it turn out
I found a Saturn 3 ultra available in good price. Thank you for the reviews. I almost got m5s but changed my mind and insisted on looking for the Saturn. It will take a couple months but I think it will be worth it and a great upgrade for my mono X. Thanks again, Ross
Glad I could help - and good call!
Thanks for another great review. I am going to be getting rid of the original Mars and Saturn printers for a Saturn 3 Ultra. Thanks for all of the time you spend giving real world examples and solutions to possible issues.
Good choice! i am happy to help
I have been thinking about getting one of these since I first saw the spec sheets on them. Most of what I will probably print will not need to be super detailed but what I am interested in is the GOO format being open source and the Ultra having a linux motherboard. I know the GOO format is not perfect yet but i'm sure that will improve with time and my hope is that this will make it's way into something like PrusaSlicer so I don't have to deal with Chitubox licensing.
Good to know that the vats are compatible between these printers because the release films not only have different qualities, they are different sizes & prices. I plan to buy an Ultra soon & want to purchase the PFA based vat as a spare/alternative.
Based on this comparison video I choose the Ultra, thank you for such an indepth video!
I value detail, reliability, and build size for my printers. There are a lot of projects I want to do right now, but sadly don't own a big printer.
I would buy the Saturn 3 Ultra, but cannot justify purchasing it, nor do I have room for it. So I'm stuck with a Mars 2 Pro for the time being. I have loved my time with the Mars 2 Pro, but man, I cannot seem to get rid of egregious voxel lines on that mofo.
Final question and thank you for responding to the others I've had over the last few days. Decided this is the one for me and am curious about resin. Do I need the rapid resin for this to work faster or does it deliver faster speed regardless of which resin you choose? I'd like to use plant based for smell purposes but I might not have to since this has the filters built in. What would you choose?
Well that’s the million dollar question. Which resin?!
Well….
No, this won’t print faster regardless. You will need to understand how these work to know what makes a faster print. Things like layer height abd lift speed are the main ones. Fast resins sometimes means faster curing, sometimes it means faster lift speed, sometimes both. Sometimes neither and the brand just wanted to call it “fast”. You’d be best speaking to people in a community group for resin advice
Plant based is typically crap to work with and causes more issues as it can be finicky. Just like most water wash Ames
Cheap resins can stink a bit more. But so can some expensive ones. but the carbon filters deal with most smells from smelly resins.
So sorry. Welcome to “what is the best resin for me?”
You’ll need to ask around and play with some yourself. It’s why I wanted my own so at least then I know what it does and I can recommend it around
I’m actually just watching this video because I think your content it great. I have and love my Uniformation GKtwo.
Thanks so much for helping out
Great video! When will the Wargamer resin be available in the US?
Sorry we are working on this. Trying to do it ASAP
Hello, I still have doubts about which model to buy. In my case the priority is the quality of the print rather than the speed, it would be to print small pieces of jewelry. Which of the two models do you recommend?
I am not sure if this is still a thing but as I bought my Anycubic Photon Mono it was said that the lifespan of the lightsource would be around 2,000 hours. But Fresnel-lenses have a lifespan of 20,000 hours. For me this was always one of the main arguments for the Elegoo Saturn. I don`t know if is still a thing because nowadays I can`t find any information about the lifespan of the LCDs but for me it is still the best argument against the Anycubic M5s.
Maybe I am mixing things up with the LCD screen.
That's a mix up. So LCDs will havecablifespannif 2,000 hours. DLPprinters last 20,000 hours
Hello, I'm new to printing and have loads of questions. 1) What is the air filters for? 2) Do you fill the tank to print, and if so, how do you keep it off the build plate, or does it pump resin in automatically to maintain a certain level? 3) Will the printer stop / pause if it runs low on resin? Any information would be helpful.
man, those Dredge models, im blown away every time i see them. Thank you again for another Vs review, i really need to get off my rear and raise some funds, anyone have any advice for selling 40k bits? ive got LOADS, and have been tempted to either sell just, one Giant tub, or divide into gallon bags or...i dont even know
Hi, thanks for the great review! I have a question: when you compare both printers with the FEP screens installed in each, the Saturn 3 seems to have more fine lines on the bottom of the test print, while the Ultra seems to have more print depth (hence perhaps higher contrast?), is that an accurate observation? Which of the two would you give the crown purely in terms of better contrast and resolution printing with fep screens?
Those line sare so thin that once I put these tests through a cleaner, sometimes they tear off sometimes they are ok, usually if I've left it in a bit long or if other parts knock into them mid clean. Don't read too much into it, but I understand I''ve not shown it as best as I could have
With FEP, there's no discernible difference
Great video! Is it better to support you here or Patreon? Other creators have said Patreon to me in the past
here ideally, Patreon is a ball-ache platform
i've got a mars 3 and love it , just the issue that some armor models don't fit on the plate unless you put them in some real cirque de solei poses , so thinking of upgrading to a saturn 3
any update on the ACF? can you just change it and let us know? or change it on a different vat so we can see if you were lucky or if the ACF from Elegoo is actually working
Thanks for the information!Which one is the best just for jewelry with high quality?
And do i need to swap the PFA?
Both are the same when you swap to PFA
Would a build plate from Sat 3 Ultra fit Sat 3? If the two-point leveling system on Sat 3 is an issue.. a purchase of four-point build plate from sat 3 ultra could me a solution, am I right?
So would it be worthwhile upgrading to the Saturn 3 Ultra if you were considering buying the Mars 4 Ultra?
I've been thinking about getting into 3D printing my own dragon figures for a while now, but I'm still confused on what I should be looking for in a printer, I don't really want tiny tiny prints more or less 1/12th to 1/8th scale figures. I'm still really new to this and haven't bought a printer before, I'm not gonna be getting the printer for a while and I'll definitely wait until the dragons are modeled, but should I go with the ultra? Or wait until the saturn 4 comes out?
New to this but about to buy.
Is it possible to print in black?
I can't find any videos or reviews anywhere specifically comparing the different light source technologies. The printers with the COB collimating fresnel lenses and the refractive setups seem to infer they are better than the matrix arrays. This would also be indicated by the fact that they switch to it on the "Ultra" or premium printers. But most printers, including the consistent #1 favorite on just about anyone's top ten list, the GK Two, use the matrix panels. Is there really a difference? In quality or lifespan? Can this be measured? I would really like some in depth investigation of this. Thx.
This is my first experience with Collimating, and when I did this and the review video, I didn't fully understand what it was. I'm still trying to understand the technology, but this video will show you the result difference.
Amazing video. I really wanted to use your affiliated link to purchase mine - but since I'm in the EU, once I changed the location, it seems that reference link was lost since I was redirected to another website and had to choose the product again. So maybe in the future have two separate links, one for US and the other for EU?
Which link did you click? they should all work? onl;y reason you are directed to a different site is VON stuff
I think it will be the ultra just because leveling system and the ballbar screw... Du you test how much influence has room temperature on the print?
Where can i find a PFA screen for the Saturn 3 Ultra?
Or does a PFA film for the Saturn work on the Saturn 3 Ultra?
We bought the ultra on presale. So far it has been a great printer. We wanted a larger printer but I liked that this printer has a Linux os and premium features.
Yeah it really hits a sweet spot
I did not know about the Linux OS, I believe the Creality Halot range uses Linux (at least the first Halot did).
I have the 3 sitting in my print closet right now. At the speed I am painting miniatures, print speed is of absolutely no concern. The other differences are also not really important to me. The air filters seem unimportant as the main problem I have with fumes is coming when washing the prints in alcohol.
I hear you. If you’re happy with the 3 then that is the best for you. And you saved $100
@@FauxHammer Well the 100 just turned into more resin 😅
Penso eu que a velocidade influencia sim no seu bolso. Pois se ela imprime mais veloz, teoricamente teria mais impressões devido a vida útil do LCD
for me the 4-point mount is worth getting it over the ball mount.
How fast has you pushed your Saturn 3 ultra in term of printing speed with the ACF film and normal resin? Is it faster than the normal Saturn 3?
Well, the resin itself could be your bottleneck. So as I explained. If however fast your “normal” resin prints. Add 30%
If you are able to max out the speed of your current printer with that “normal” resin. Then you may be able to get much more with a Saturn 3 ultra.
The Saturn 3 ultra itself is more than twice as fast as the Saturn 3z
But that doesn’t mean all resins will print that fast.
I opted for the non Ultra version, which is $299 on Amazon, whereas the Ultra is still $480. For that extra $180, I didn't find the extras to be worth it for me. I'm looking forward to getting it in a few days and testing it out but I'm really grateful for your review!
I'm eyeing one rn lol had to convince my girl that this is my new fond hobby 😅
Let me know how is it. Buying a printer next paycheck, but still watching a bunch of videos before I bite the bullet
Acf replacement sheets are also $40 more than pfa on Amazon, so price gap is really more like $220
There is no Fresnel lens and the light doesn't get collimated in the Ultra.
Without Fresnel lens, prints near screen edges will expand slightly (little to no difference near the center) but unnoticeable in most case.
They probably meant "Reflective" light source since they used a mirror to reduce light spread but would still be better if they put Fresnel lens too.
Well the prints are no t noticeable different from it, so whatever they did works.
I’ve learned more about the collimating source and it seems more evenly spread.
Almost like a blank DLP projector in a way.
Going to be very interesting when you do change to a new ACF sheet.
Yeah, I'm genuinely scared. I've seen reports from people echoing my results and some others saying they have lines. I suppose it's good to know that you can just replace ACF with NFEP.
Thanks!
wow, thanks so much!!!
I got a package with the ultra and the Mercury X wash and cure station for $620. Even if I don't use all the features I'll use the wireless and I'm willing to pay extra for the metal over the plastic.
Oh, man. This is exciting!
Hope you enjoyed it
Thanks for your work here!
I will do an upgrade. My old Photon Mono (2k) has to go. (Bye bye voxels). The print quality seems to be identical between 3 and Ultra. I think I‘ll go with the 3 because I don‘t care about wifi and speed.
It's a little better on the Saturn 2 out if the box. Good call
The 3 non Ultra will get you along nicely as the print quality is comparable. Let‘s be honest (i can only speak for myself), nobody can tell you what ist coming around the corner in maybe 2 years. Then the upgrading-game starts all over again. Just don‘t go crazy about it.
I planned to buy Saturn 3 Ultra this morning after your previous video, and then I saw this video incoming. I will wait until it is published but I wonder if you are still ok with its ACF?
I am ok with this ACF but I'm still saying that trioeciously becasue I have seen others report similar results to all other ACF films. I;ve trioed this resin with ACF on another printer and All I can assume here is that I got lucky. Elegoo have confirmed that the same ACF was used in the Mars 4 and Saturn 3
I know I am a bit late to this video, but do you think the rectangular pixels in the printers have anything to do with the better quality you are seeing from the acf
Nope, none at all. I have tested several printers with this same screen and they all expose differently
11:05 the one on the right looks significantly better to me. I have a roll of nfep from mcmaster carr, I may just buy a 2nd vat and test it out. Of course I still have to finish the video and then watch your other video about ACF, but that point in time I reference is a huge win for nfep to me. I may come back and edit this after the videos.
I bought the Saturn 3 Ultra 12k based on your review👍🏻
Hope you enjoy it!
I got the saturn 3 non ultra, happy with my choice. Only thing i wish i had was wifi, usb stick is a minor pita. My bed stays perfectly level with the ball screw. I can print so fast i could nwver hope to keep up with painting my minis. Also acf costs 3-4x more than pfa, so factor that into price gap since it will inevitably need to be changed
Do you plan to change or use a different ACF to test your theory? I got screwed over by Elegoo on the original Sat and returned an S2 for poor print quality but this one (Ultra) really has my interest.
One more question - I'm curious about your resin. Any plans for a flesh tone or US distribution?
I’ll only change it when it needs changing. But I have asked Elegoo directly, what the difference is.
As fir resin. No plans to do any other colours, but we are looking to bring it to the US asap
Did Elegoo get back to you?@@FauxHammer
I will take the ultra, because I can take as you said a spare, I will buy it now, thanks
ACF the size of the peeks and valleys are critical, and the design to get the proper texture is going to very from manufacture to manufacture. Also lot to lot may have been run on a difrent machine or tooling, not sure how much quality control is looking at when a new tool is commissioned into a machine! So looking for a quality ACF provider will be difficult!
Good review, just a pity that Elegoo customer service was so poor.
So Elegoo Saturn 3 Ultra or Uniformation GKTwo? Where does this rank on your list? What printer do you recommend for someone starting out, one of these or a different one? Thanks.
www.fauxhammer.com/top-10/the-best-3d-printer-for-miniatures-models/
Any printer is a good beginner printer, the more expensive ones are often Easier. but I think the Mars 4 Max is a decent enough starting model. unless you can get a cheap Saturn 2
Does that actually work correctly, change the ACF for a PFA sheet on the vat?
I am thinking about buying my first 3d printer, so I am completely new.
I didn't know that the sheets were separated from the vat, I thought it was all one unit.
Can you then buy an extra vat and have both, working with the same settings, or do you have to adjust it?
I really do not care much about speed, but I like all the other features of the saturn 3 ultra, so I was thinking about just getting the clear PFA, if that gives me the same quality as the saturn 3 12k.
yeah it works. and yeah the Release film is a consumable, you will need to change them semi-frequently. A lot of people do buy the extra vat and have one for fast prints and one for detailed prints. but you need to relevel each time.
@@FauxHammer Fantastic to know. I thought that maybe the light collimation or something was different to take into account the frosty effect, and that would render the other type irrelevant.
I think I have made up my mind and I will expend the extra cash for the saturn 3 ultra, since it seems to be both more flexible and has more future proof features.
I can’t paint fast enough to make speed worth it. Even on mass produced models.
Same
I agree, speed really isnt an issue for me on resin printing.
Fdm printers on the other hand greatly benefit from speed
Got one of these ultras coming for Christmas! .can u guys recommend both a best resin and affordable /budget resin for printing miniatures? This will be my first resin printer also do I need curing and rinsing equipment ?
I have my own resin Wargamer, Links in the description.
I haven't tested enough resins to confirm the best among all of them, so I made my own
is that linked resin in the description the one with the crazy flex at 14:47? @@FauxHammer
I'm literally about to pull the trigger on the ultra with your link. Thanks for all the hard work with these reviews. I'm excited to upgrade from an OG anycubic photon with a 2k display
Have you tried with a different ACF from Elegoo yet, or are you still using the same one? Interested if it was truly just luck or what
I never did, but I’ve seen enough comments saying they had the lines and others saying they didn’t that I have inferred it was luck
I print mostly large scale, presupported models from Wicked and Nom Nom studios, would you recommend this or the gktwo?
in terms of print quality, it probably doesn't matter, go with the feature you want
I'm trying to get an idea what's a good starter machine for resin printing. I started with an Ender 3v2, then a few weeks ago I bought a Bambu Lab P1S because I wanted a bigger build volume. I now think I have my larger part basis covered, and now think resin is the next logical step. What's a good starter printer for resin?
Depends what youc an afforde, since you donve in with a P1S, it sounds like you have some money available
Saturn 3 Ultra or the Uniformation GKTWO are the top picks for me.
But you could also go with something more basic, llike a Staurn 2 or Saturn 8k?
i have vids on themnall and a summary video of all options coming soon.
@FauxHammer thank you, I appreciate you taking the time and providing your input
Hello! I'm making reconstitutions of insects for museums and i'm wondering whether I should update my old sonic 4k for the phrozen sonic 8k (upgraded to the 12 k version?), the phrozen mighty 8k, which offers almost the same resolution with a larger print volume (some insects are tiny but some reach 20 cm) or the Elegoo Saturn 3 / 3 Ultra? For larger builds I own the SOnic Mega 8k.
COuld you share your thoughts? Thank you.
BTW, great videos with great objectivity in your advices or opinion.
Thanks a ton. I don’t see the value difference between the Mighty 8k with 12k upgrade. And the Saturn 3, yet print results look the same
Great. So moneywise, Saturn 3 or 3 Ultra is a better choice.
Thank you!
@@marchermitteSaturn 3 Ultra is my pick, but replace the ACF film with PFA
Thank you, I've seen you video on the AC film, I'll follow your advice.
When you compared the exposure test with pfa films at 10:55 the non ultra looks like it printed negligibly sharper. I thought that with the same films results would be same. Any ideas what could have caused that?
Sorry if it sounds like a noob questions but everything I know about resin printer is from watching your videos, still deciding whether to get the Saturn 3 ultra as my first printer
no, good question and I should ahve explained better. those raised lines are so fine that sometimes they come off when cleaning the print, sometimes not. they are close enough that I'd say this is the same result.
and yes, you should get teh Saturn 3 Ultra. It;s an amazing printer!
@@FauxHammer ah I see, that makes sense
to be honest a 'negligable' difference isn't something I'd worry about - it might not be repeatable. It could be a variety of things, Resin, Resin Temperatures, Wear on the machine, was the machine 'pre warmed' up with a print beforehand, etc. Until you can get a significant difference in detail - I just don't see the point in focusing on something so marginally small that it isn't even a +/- 5% difference on scales.
Hi ! I havn’t seen the video but I have to decide quickly if I cancel my saturn 3 order for an ultra. I intend to only use FEP and I would not use Wifi. I care about print quality, not much print speed. What would you suggest ? Thanks
There's no huge difference in print qualitty between them, they are pretty much the same printer.
@@FauxHammer I didn't know if the new source light have an influence on quality, so thank you very much for your answer :)
Any resources on Getting the ultra WiFi to accept files. I can see the printer... Halp
Acf is super fast!! I ues ultra for 1 month. And now lift 2/1mm lift speed 500/2000 mm/m .especially Hardsurface model printing is really good quality and fast. Acf also reduces the Effects of Vacuum.
I’m not sure you can get 500mm/m out of either? I know that 600mm/m was no faster than 400mm/m when I set it…
So if i understand correct if i dont care about wifi or metal case on the printer i can buy the Saturn 3 and use acf to have quick prints right?
pretty much yeah. the Z-rail onthe ultra is a bit smoother due to the Lead screw,
So, was your AFC screen a fluke, or is the Ultra AFC legit?
Strange that in the 4 model shootout with the AnyCubics, The Saturn 3 came out ahead of the Ultra.
I have never had to relevel my build plate for over a year now with my Mars 3 pro. Level and tighten it once and well and it should not be moving.
You're one of the lucky ones.
So far my decision was the M5S just for the autoleveling... considering the same specs on the screen and just quality print... now i don´t know which one... a tip?
Ultra, Easily. I have a comparison video coming out. I don;t like to persuade people in reviews as I prefer they make their own mind up as tto what is best for thgem. But the spec alone and the print quality and build quality along with actually useful features is so much more on the Ultra vs the M5s it;s an easy win
@@FauxHammer Thanks for the tip!
Greetings from Chile
To add another point, autolevelling is a complete gimmick anyway in my opinion - it takes maybe 20 minutes max to level a resin printer if it's your first time doing it, and once you set it correctly you don't need to level it again unless you really knock the build plate somehow. Plus, it's more parts that can go wrong on the printer, which is never a good thing!
@@NikkiAnnMarie I agree the autoleveling is of only initial benefit. The ques for me in terms of long term usefulness, is the failure detection capability. That could really add up over time.
@@user-bv9lu7du6p Yeah I agree - force detection IS really useful, but its implementation is poor by Anycubic imo. The Athena sensor is really leading the way with that technology.
Are you curing your prints?
I'm actually just scared as with the m5 and m5s the m5 is the one I should have gone for as now the m5s auto bed levelling is malfunctioning on everyone's and we're "supposed to be getting these v2 build plates" believe it when I see mine! It's all ongoing there's a massive queue before me the technicians have to get through.
The fact the same thing here with elegoo but honestly I really can't see there being an issue with the ultra they done the right thing.and stuck with manual bed levelling! Tbh I actually miss having this on m5s you feel more in control and your able to easily fix it! I absolutely love my saturn 2 8k it's just such a pleasure to work with and it just works! Once dialed in correctly you can throw anything through it and you know it'll just print it no problem!
next weeks video is M5's Vs Saturn 3's. will be up tomorrow for members.
@Fauxhammer Do you rate the Ultra over the GKTwo now then?

My mistake was buying a fast printer for my 1st one. I was so use to 10 minute Cones of Calibration that when I switched to a different resin I couldn't believe it was going to take over an hour each to dial it in. 🤦♂
About the leveling plate, in the ultra does it already come with a four screw system or is it available as replacement?
it comes as standard
Perfect!
Thank you, really!
so i can be wrong here but i thnk the difference is , ACF has a shinny side and a fogged side, the fogged side is supposed to face down towards the lcd
You are completely correct here.
i'm looking to buy the ultra for jewellery business soon
nice!
Can 12 - 16 inch figures be printed on either of these printers depending on how you cut and slice the parts??
I need ur help guys. I wanna to buy my first 3d printer. Should i buy the 3 ultra or 3 12k?
Whichever you can afford, one is better than the other but is WiFi worth the extra hundred to you?
I'd pick the Ultra - reasons are basically everything. It is 2023, and resolution is far beyond dated for resin printing, instead the pixel density basically always is - and if you get too small, we might actually get to a point of lesser quality due to the distance the light travels. (thus needing to either heavy focus the light, or increase cure times - or both, to compensate) - and honestly.. 19 microns is... probably as small as anyone would ever really need, as unless your looking at it under heavy magnification, your not going to see much, if any, difference. (and personally 24 microns is perfect for my eyes and use - especially if your painting)
I would love to see the next printer be 19 micron flat though. (19 microns in both direction) but for larger printers, 24, 26, or even 28 microns should be widely acceptable - and it is time instead of focusing on 'more detail' to focus on "more speeds" - keeping those details. I think we can all agree if you could print even 1cm bigger in all directions but keep the current detail levels and speeds - this would be a huge improvement to the market as a whole, although this does come down to screen sizes and availability - so "the next size up" may be a more suitable comparison than "1cm"
Which is why i think the ball screw and maybe a more powerful motor for Z are in order. It seems these 'barely' get the Z job done, which is fine for their current market, but for future printers, we are going to need to see some beefier motors on the Z screw, even if the size of the vat stays the same - to increase the speed of the Z without overheating problems.
Lastly the only thing this printer (Saturn 3 Ultra) doesn't have that I wish it did - was a heating vat system. use some of that excessive heat generation to heat up the aluminum vat and the resin , to get it to temperature. It seems resin really likes to be around 24C - so if it's colder than that in your area or storage, being able to gently warm it up to then print with would be fantastic.
Hmm, maybe elegoo or some diy can use that second 'usb port' to heat up the aluminum frame with temperature control... 19V, isn't it? :)
Are the build plates interchangeable between the 3 and the Ultra?
No, sorry
shit....this scares me :D how the print quality with ACF can be suddenly so good but its not with the Mars 4 Ultra ? i preorderd the M5S but i canceled my order. i was thinking about the Mars 4 Ultra, but the reviews made me unsure. i don't really need a big printer like M5s / Saturn 3. but the print quality is important for me. so i want the printer with the best quality but it should not be too expensive since i am not using it a lot.
How do you rank the Saturn 3 Ultra to the M3 Premium? (it is not on your 'top' list)
M3 premium was number 2. now this is because the M3 isn’t available anymore.
Hi, just out of curiosity, can the 3 ultra platter be mounted on the 3?
it can't no. they are different mechanisms
I can change my exposure mid print for most prints on my saturn 1, why isn't that feature on the saturn 3????
ps some files it lets me change it and some it doesn't, I haven't noticed a pattern to why I can change it for some and not others, so perhaps it's the same with these and the non ultra version can change settings mid print but it sometimes doesn't work like on my saturn 1.
I never had a Saturn 1
@@FauxHammer we can swap 😂
Will there be a comparison between the Mars 4 and the Mars 4 Ultra?
Yep. After my Mars 4 review
Can you put the Ultra build plate in a regular Saturn 3?
unfortunately not
Do I need a special resin with this printer?
Nope
will the 4 point leveling mechanism fit on the Saturn 3?
No, different z arm
Ultra wins hands down ✋😎🤚
