  • The latest 718 Porsche Boxster and Cayman GTS has something new behind the drivers seat - a naturally aspirated 4.0L Boxer 6 cylinder that redlines at 7800 RPM. Oh what a joy it is to experience everything these 2 cars have to offer on and off the track. The GTS also come standard with lots of other features like larger brakes, standard sport chrono, adaptive suspension and a lot more.

    Wow can’t believe the price drop on the 981 gt4s since these came out!!!

    This is THE Porsche to get! With its perfect balance, naturally aspirated flat 6, manual transmission... the GTS 4.0 is the ideal formula for driving pleasure and is the best sports car in Porsche's lineup, in my opinion. I'm not saying the 2.5 flat 4 is bad, it's a great engine with outstanding performance, but it's no match for this. That said, I'd still consider buying a preowned 2.5 GTS, but the deal would have to be a once in a lifetime bargain. Otherwise, there will likely be a Cayman GTS 4.0 in my garage at some point in the future.

    I kept waiting to hear the “wail”, but the audio just doesn’t pick it up very well. The 981 GTS is slower, but the sound is intoxicating!

    For me, it is a question of torque.
    I’ve owned 4 Boxster S’s over the years, currently drive a 911.1S. Without a doubt the Boxster handles better than the Carrera. However, it lacks low end torque. I wonder if the four-cylinder turbo S might be a more enjoyable drive, as peak torque is available at under 2000 RPM. The 4.0 GTS requires near redline for maximum torque.
    What do you think?

    Was the drive more compliant with the 10mm pasm than the 20mm pasm?

    please elaborate a little more on the differences between 10cm lower to 20cm suspension. Does it make that big of a difference on the car's handling

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes sorry, it makes a huge difference when driven back to back. It’s like a whole different car. Handling was better and response was quicker. Don’t know why anyone would opt for the higher option. The ride at 20 mm isn’t even that choppy at all and I don’t like rough rides.

      @@EverydayReviews2022 Excellent review! I am also very interested in the 10 vs. 20 mm drops. Recently drove a 992S and it rode VERY rough. How would you compare the 4.0's ride to the 992S? Thanks in advance! The 4.0 might be my next car. As a DD, I would go with a 10 mm lower suspension.

    You seemed to be driving pretty hard on the track and could not really close the gap between you and the 911. I'm going to assume it was a Carrera S. Was it really that much faster or your average driving skill?

    OK, so I have a deposit on a Boxster GTS 4.0 for delivery in March 2021. I had a 2006 Corvette Z51 I purchased new but sold about 6 years ago due to the manual transmission being so miserable in Atlanta traffic. So, I'm definitely getting the PDK. But, should I go for the 10mm drop or 20mm drop? I am mostly buying it because it's a go-cart for the street and it is effectively a tricked out convertible replacement for both my old 'Vette and a 2011 Harley RoadGlide I recently sold. However, I will likely track the car at most a total of 2-5 times during the 10+ years I'll own it. Instead it will be a car to do errands in and enjoy driving in the mountains on weekends. I'd love for someone who's driven both to let me know which should I get for making the car enjoyable for the type driving I'll actually do. I did hear them say it's a major difference in the video, but I don't know if that means it's a LOT rougher and only a little more precise or a LOT less precise and only a tiny bit rougher....

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was noticeably more precise but for everyday driving and the number of times you will track it, I’d maybe lean toward the 10 mm. That’s just me though, I hate rough rides nowadays- getting old 😃

  • @sraj2601

    I can see how the 20 mm lower suspension would feel sharper on the track, but I'm wondering if you had a chance to sample both on the road as well? This will be a daily driver for me, for weekend back roads but not for track duty. I know you put in a vote for the 10 mm lower option for a daily driver, but if feels a lot sharper at 7 or 8 tenths (as well as all-out), I might still consider it. Thanks!

    How would you compare the driving character and fun factor against a Miata Club or Supra? Assuming your budget might be an issue? In other words do you think it’s worth the money when you can get other much less money: Mustang GT350, Supra 3.0, M2Comp; new Nissan Z

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well there's no doubt the Miata is fun fort sure. You can't ever go wrong with the fun factor of the MX-5. Don't know how the new Z will drive yet. Personally I would lean toward either the M2 Comp or the Cayman. I just drove the CLA45 AMG last week and I gotta tell you, that is one super fun car. Might not have the curb appeal as the others but oozes fun.

      Everyday Reviews - The base GT500 without the $18k track pack for about $75k is also lots of fun with 760 hp a great sounding exhaust and fantastic DCT transmission.

  • @rembo183
    @rembo183 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you were buying one would you get any options at all or just buy it within any options. It seems like it really has everything unless you want to get leather or upgraded audio but then you’re well into $100k territory. It starts at $87k so to me that’s a lot of money 💰!!!

      @rembo183 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EverydayReviews2022 - Yes it is. Is the 718 Base with the 4cylinder that much worse? To me it’s $60k-$70 or $90-$100 for the GTS. That’s a lot of money for sound power is only at top end. The base is very quick with low end torque and power making it feel fast. Tough choices? I guess it just depends on how much money you have to blow on a sports car.
