- Bikepacking with beautiful fall colours and big mountain roads keep us entertained as we leave Montana and cross into Idaho. We really enjoyed this part of the Western Wildlands Route and hope you will too
Cooler temperatures remind us that winter is on it’s way. Hope we make it south before real winter arrives.
Join Mira and John as they dogpack the Americas. Summer of 2020 they rode the GDMBR, The Oregon Timber Trail, Orogenisis, Wild West route, Baja Divide, Trans Mexico_Norte and many others.
This year as the borders open they are riding south to towards the tip of South America.

I feel your pain with the headwind. My worse day was grinding ALL DAY in first and once in a while second just to make 33.8 km. It's hard. LOL You two are resilient though and you had great views. Thanks for sharing the wonderful scenery in this episode. Great stuff ✌

I like how Mira stands in the basket when you are descending the mountain. I suppose it is more comfortable to stand when the road is fast and bumpy than to lie in the basket and get jarred around.

So well done! Love your very grounded style in taking care of yourself and Mira. Your pacing through the day is world tour plus too. I had to give up on shorting my sleeping pads to cut grams. Hip length ZRest but full length UL inflatable. Traded some grams for energy the next day.
Have done the same. It was mostly about the effect that cactus 🌵 spikes on air mattresses 🤪

I use an SOL shake&bake style bivie (cheap, light, packs sm & H2o proof) over a summer weight bag to add 15f to the bags temperature rating.
Hi John, another great video. In your experience which do you prefer and why, Western Wildlands Route or GMBDR? Contemplating a trip to do one or the other and as I live in Australia I want to get the best wilderness experience.
So much of the WWR is awesome to be sure. People on the GDMBR are expecting riders every season. The nice thing about that is you really get to meet many more riders and locals.
For more remote riding you could head north of the 🇨🇦 🇺🇸 border 🤔
That last sequence with the view changing from looking back to looking forward with the broad landscape, you and Mira, was awesome! Love the format where it is more like a movie than a computer monitor proportion. Makes it look like you are serious adventurers ;-)!
