I changed the battery on both keys today on a 2011 Mazda MX-5. First time owning one. Afterwards, none of the buttons on the keys worked to unlock/lock the car, so used the manual flip key to unlock the driver's door, then the hazards started flashing. What am I missing? Left the car for 5 minutes, came back, put key in driver's door and turned clockwise + anti-clockwise 10x times, then got in and started the car.
If you have the push button start, your key fob will look different. Once you take the key out of the fob, you can use a small flat head screw driver to open up the back of the key and you will find a cover for the battery.

2006 Miata flat thin rectangular key
This key fob looks NOTHING like my fob for a 2015 Miata!
