What Makes The Leica M6 So Appealing?

- Leica has become one of the most sought after camera brands in the world over the past few decades. That begs the question as to what makes Leica so appealing? In this video I dive into the answer of that question as I acquired the Leica M6 earlier this year. I highlight some of the most influential photographers of our time that have used Leica cameras and enhanced the brand to make Leica more desirable. I will also talk about how the function and look of Leica cameras has made them so appealing over the years.
This also begins my new series Leica Diaries. The purpose of this series is to give you the perspective of what it is like to own a Leica camera from an ordinary professional photographer like myself. I hope you enjoy, cheers.

When I was a professional photographer I used Nikon for speed and other obvious reasons. The Leica slows things down, makes you think, and just adds to the enjoyment of photography ! Great video, I subscribed, and will be watching you ! 👀 thanks, Rick…..

When I decided to replace the Canon fixed-lens 35mm film rangefinder that I had been using, I knew I wanted a rugged, reliable, rangefinder with interchangeable lenses. I decided on the Leica M2, M6, or MP. I bought an M6.
Based on my experience with my Nikon F 35mm film SLR, I knew that I wanted the following three lenses for my M6:
1. 35mm f/1.4
2. 90mm f/2
3. 21mm f/1.4
My M6 has helped me take better photos when I shoot theatre. concerts, golf, high-end social events, and audio recording studios.

I traded for a M3 about a year and a half ago. What I love about my Leica is that it doubles as a weapon. In the past I have been yelled at and even followed on the streets for taking a random pictures and I know that plastic AE1 could not save me.
People can definitely be crazy on the streets. Definitely can protect yourself with the camera haha
I think the main insecurity coming from holding Leica camera is caused by exact videos like this. It became just clickbait topic for youtubers. And now of course everybody holding Leica makes you laugh at first. Which is sad. But every video (even this one) only makes it worse.

He doesn’t know what he’s on about, I’ve used Leica cameras since the mid 90s and never bought one as a fashion accessory but to use as intended, which is for pure simple photography. Nothing gets in the way of taking a photo, no auto focus, shooting modes etc just photography in its purest form. Enjoy your M6.
