I’m 55 years old. In my life, I’ve bought and sold, broken or lost probably a hundred or more 35 mm SLR - most of them were Nikon and Pentax. Last year, one of your videos inspired me to finally buy a Leica M - a Leica M6. It was the video where you had just got yours back from being serviced. The Leica M is not my favorite (the Nikon f2 is) but I do like it a lot and I can see why so many people feel the way you do about it. It’s a great camera. If I could travel back in time and talk to my 25 year old self, one of the things I’d tell myself is "just go buy that brand new LeicaM6 and 50mm Summicron - don’t wait. Sure it’ll cost a whole month’s salary (or two?) and that seems totally crazy right now but thirty years down the road, you’ll realize it was a good purchase". Thanks Matt!

that shot of your son licking the mosquito net made me laugh bc it could've been one of my kids too. although i'm fairly new to the channel (just a few months analogue photography for me) it's one of my favorites. and that is not the case due to the most spectacular gear tips, international travels, hottest models or anything like that. just a humble, honest dude and his love for photography, his family and friends. keep up your positivity and good spirit. and enjoy what's to come. cheers from cologne, germany.

Congratulations on six years of videos! It was genuinely touching to see the photos of little Nora from videos you made years ago. Thank you for sharing your life and your family with us over the years.
Finding the right camera for you is everything. It’s been a Leica M6 for me, too, but I don’t know that there’s anything magic about them. Just happens to be the right camera for me. I think a lot of people dismiss Leica’s as if people only buy them for the red dot or “prestige.” And maybe some do, but I think it’s mostly just that there aren’t really that many other options. There’s amazing SLR’s by the boatload, but relatively few interchangeable lens rangefinders. So that’s probably part of why Leica users can be so passionate about their cameras. And you don’t use this expensive of a system lightly. I’ve often said that I wish I had found a cheaper system to be the right one for me. But, for me, the M6 just blends seamlessly into my photography. It’s a joy to use, but also almost invisible. No barriers between my eye and what I want to photograph.

I actually found this channel years ago because of your M6 review video. I was a young kid trying to find out which Leica I should buy - I went against the M6 and bought an M3 because it was the cooler, more difficult Camera to use. Fast forward 5/6 years and I don't regret my decision - though I wish I bought a few M6s to sell after seeing the price rise.

I like listening to Photographer John Free talk about his F3. For him he knows the ins and outs of the Nikon F3 and he does not have to think about anything technical. He does not have to lookup any settings or anything, the camera is now just a extension and it allows him to just do his work. I really been wanting to just settle down on a camera or two for some time. Thinking that we should all choose and select one camera that is going to be out everyday camera that we know the ins and outs of and can just shoot with.

The best thing about this video is that you simply tell in your humble way that this camera fits your needs while sharing honest moments of your life - simple as that. No praising because it's a Leica as I have a strange relationship with this brand: It's well designed and made, yes, but I have huge concerns about the price etc. BUT that's something we can discuss another day. No time for negative vibes now. 🤙🏻
As always: much love to you and your family!
