The crew weren’t exactly traveling with large wardrobes. That means to “dress up” for the party they’d need to get new clothes. It doesn’t really make sense that they’d do the for Jackass Schnee. Comfort would definitely be more important to them.
Also notice how Weiss calls Willow “Mom” as opposed to the more formal use of “Father” for Jacques?
Also from a Doylist writing perspective, it should be remembered that that this is the _same night_ that the Siege of Atlas begins - when the sun rises, Salem herself arrives. Not a lot of opportunity to change *out* of their party clothes and back into their combat gear, then.

It's particularly sad when she gives up the pretense of using the glass and just takes a huge swig directly from the bottle right in front of Weiss...a nonverbal way of saying "who are we even kidding here?"
Yeah, a lot of the FNDM were nonplussed about them going to a party without changing.

Bad take on Weiss' mom, but most reactionaries have plenty of those when they just watch the show and don't notice the subtle aspects of the writing and animation, so can't really fault too hard for that. Same with Whitely.
Not sure how calling an alcoholic mother who has allowed her husband to abuse their children for years a bad parent is a "bad take." Yes she has some redemption. But right now she's a bad parent.
we all had the same reaction to Whitley at this point. Willow's comment at the end did start to shift some attitudes. But most didn't come around till the stuff he did in V8
@@numunu013 The mother is also a victim of mr schnee, he's the one that drove her into emotional shutdown. Not saying that completely makes her lack of action fine but it certainly vindicates her of being a bad parent
@@HellBent_ Sorry. We don't excuse victims in this house...for personal reasons. Leaving is always an option. It should be the first option. Fear keeps victims in those situations. She obviously had enough fear to put cameras throughout the house in case he did anything. Her first option should've been to prevent those cameras from being needed. She knew what he was and chose only to react instead of prevent. And she reacts badly.
@@numunu013 Like I said it doesn't make her in the right, and yes she does react badly but that's not the problem. Excusing victims isn't the issue here, it's victim blaming. And yes fear can keep people in those situations. Fear that if they leave, something far worse will happen than if they stay. That is not their fault. I know this from past experience, not true in every case obviously but it does happen. So we don't blame victims in this house, for personal reasons.
