The nod of respect Freeze and Gordon had was such a good moment. No words needed, they know this changes nothing about their occupations, just making it clear to both of them that when there's no other choice, they have each other's back.

Villains having the potential to reform is critical to rationalizing the no-kill rule. Almost every one of Batman's rogues gallery has turned good at one point, even in the main continuity. When Paul Dini was on Detective Comics, he went on a long streak of having bad guys turn good.

Villains that don't kill innocents; Ivy, Harley, Two-Face, Bane, and yes, Ras, the latter having a strict code to be better than Batman, by showing the civilians of Gotham that the league of assassins kill bad guys, and not just lock them up. Bane also leaves the guards and or police, tied up or beat down, but never dead, when committing a robbery.

My favorite moments where the Villains came to the rescue It's during the Batman TAS Ep Trial. When the villians got loose In Arkham and captured Batman and put him In trial for his crimes against them I do believe the Joker was stalling for the cops In order to get to Arkham to save Batman or for Batman finding a way to escape. Cause there's no way he'll let the other villains have their way with him.
Another moment where the Joker save
Batman Is during a Justice League Ep. Where the Injustice captured Batman although he may have ambush him he again stalled for time for the Justice League to get there.

In an uber-rare story (part of a trilogy), Joker reveals to a shocked Alfred, “I’m crazy, not stupid! I’ve known who Batman is for YEARS! I’ve just chosen never to say anything! It’s way more fun this way!” He then proceeds to move into Wayne Manor--and Batman lets him.
In Part I of the trilogy, “April Fool”, Joker discovers that he’s a father, and irony of ironies it’s Batman he has to thank for being reunited with his daughter. Another delicious irony is it’s Batman Joker appoints to basically be his daughter’s godfather. And there’s a beautiful heart-tugging scene between Joker and Batman in a hospital where they actually become friends, if only for the moment (Joker gets a really good monologue during that scene, too). Joker comes THIS close to reforming because of his daughter--but tragedy shatters that joy and hope, leaving him and Batman with something poignantly painful in common, the loss of a loved one.
In Part II, “Lovelorn”, an assassin takes advantage of a still-grieving and emotionally-vulnerable Joker, and tricks him into believing the reason why he’s so obsessed with Batman is because he is in actuality in love with him. And the assassin makes a very persuasive argument and produces convincing-enough evidence as well. So Joker goes to Batman, levels with him (almost getting leveled himself in the process), and asks him what it will take to convince Batman he’s telling the truth, that he’s not joking for once. And Batman sets Joker with an almost impossible task: “No--more--killing.” He makes it crystal clear that’s the only thing he will accept as proof, understandably leaving Joker (and everyone else) in great concern and doubt. Meanwhile, the assassin tries to kill Batman--but Batman isn’t the assassin’s real target, it’s someone else. And the assassin manages to succeed in killing that someone else because of the trick pulled on Joker.
In Part III, “Wedding Blues For Batman”, Joker is fully aware now his supposed love for Batman was just an assassin’s ploy--but he’s having way too much fun now to stop. And he presents Batman with an offer he can’t refuse: if Batman says “I do”, then Joker says “I quit” and goes into retirement effective immediately. And if Joker wants to stay married to Batman, then he has to stay retired and be good. Everybody except Joker is against this wedding--for various reasons--but nobody can stop it because a tamed Joker is infinitely more preferable than the old Joker. And Joker gleefully prepares to claim the victory over Batman that he can hold over his head ‘til death do they part. So--how in the world is Batman gonna get out of THIS one? Sorry! Not gonna spoil the ending!

@@TopFlix I really like the artwork for the three covers, too. For “Part I: April Fool”, a young woman with a mischievous smirk on her face is looking out and holding up a joker card, with Joker on her right side and Batman on her left, and they’re warily looking at each other. For “Part II: Lovelorn”, both Batman and Joker are facing a headstone which reads ‘Beloved Daughter’, Joker is on his knees with grief, and Batman is actually providing comfort to Joker with a gentle hand to his shoulder. Finally, for “Part III: Wedding Blues For Batman”, in the background a bride is standing with back towards the viewer, but half-turned so it’s revealed to be Joker, grinning and singing, “Here comes the bride--!” And when we follow Joker’s gaze, we see Batman in the foreground, wearing a bow tie, on his knees looking out desperately and going, “Someone PLEASE save me!”

There really is some honor among thieves and Batman does everything to earn a showing of it.

Unrelated to the video. In Batman (1989), the mob boss tells Joker "You are my number one guy!" The mob boss betrays him. Later, Joker is telling his second in command "You are my number one guy!" When Joker said that, that was foreshadowing the betrayal or death of his second in command, which he kills near the end of the movie.

Not exactly Joker and Batman saving each other, but I really like Batman Black and White: It's a Black and White World.
The Batman comics are created on a soundstage. Batman arrives to find out that production is running behind schedule and is asked to wait in the greenroom. There, we find Joker doing a crossword puzzle. While waiting, the two decide to rehearse the fight scene. Joker mentions that times were hard, complained about "oof" being hokey forever, but us grateful to be able to say the line. Talked about how Mr. Freeze and his family were doing. They perform their scene, and then the production breaks for lunch. The two stars walk to the canteen, side by side, as the old friends they always were

That's the reason why the outside villains will never understand, you really can't defeat Batman because Batman is so much more then himself, he's always got somebody behind him if it's not the Joker it's somebody else.
It seems like despite everybody's Insanity they all realize the world isn't black and white, it's gray and if they don't do this tussle, keep this balance up then somebody who is going to do a lot more damage and cause a lot more problems is going to replace them and nobody wants that.

For most of them he’s got a really well established rapport. He’ll still give them a concussion and break a leg/arm but there’s a level of respect cuz he still views them as people (for the most part Joker’s kinda hit or miss). My personal favorite is his relationship with Freeze immediately followed by Cobblepot/Ivy. He always tries to help Freeze with his wife or at least help keep her alive.
And in one continuity, if I remember correctly, he legit went to The Iceberg Lounge and was like, “Ight Oswald where is the dude hiding?” (I think it was Scarecrow?) and bro just immediately sold him out and when Scarecrow was like, “Penguin what the fuck?” Cobblepot just responded, “This is a ‘legitimate’ business man.” Showing that while he and everyone else knows he’s got some under the table illegal or questionable shit going on Batman hasn’t tried to have it shut down or him arrested as long as he’s not doing the same sort of shit it was before (like diamond/cash/jewelry heists or obvious arms deals)
With Ivy it’s also kinda hit or miss but more in the way of if they help one another when it’s necessary or Bats just stops Ivy when she’s doing shit then pops her back into Arkham as opposed to with Joker where he views him as legitimate fucking issue for society. But Bats tends to respect the scientist side of her and if I remember correctly seems to give her less broken parts than say Scarecrow/Dent or even Man-Bat. I also think he tends to talk to her more/in a more respectful way when they are having to fight

There is a comic where Harley Quinn escapes Arkham to help Batman in finding the new Ventrilloquist (Peyton Riley) after the death of Arnold Wesker. She does this because she was actually close to Arnold Wesker, after she was sent to Arkham without the Joker. She basically tells Batman that if Arkham is a scary place for the guards and heroes, he should imagine what it is like for the inmates and that when she got there, Wesker was nice to her and tried to cheer her up.
