Hi Brian some great 20 dollar finds. I have the Johnny marr album and my thoughts are similar to yours though I do enjoy it , my morning jackets are excellent enjoy the meet up👍
I'm playing the 1st Krause/ Plant Cd at work, lately.. I have both on vinyl. Kyuss is great. I love that genre, Fu Manchu, Clutch, Nebula, Buffalo Killers.. Ect.🤘 Johnny Marr was good with Modest Mouse ! Nice records, Bri
Anyone who is a fan of Primal Scream will love that release. I really liked the first three Eels albums. I was listening to "End Times" a few weeks ago. Not a bad album at all. Do you like the 10" vinyl format? Or do you find it harder to shelve? Thanks B. Excellent update~ Rob/Boston
Hi Rob - I find the 10" format to be rather curious and I still haven't figured out the purpose of them! I have a separate crate for 10 inch records because I think they would get lost in the other shelves, but I could be wrong. Anyway, I only have about 20, so I just separate them 🙂
@@EmbryonicRobot I was going to say that Brian. I think that I would have liked them years ago if it wasn't for the whole shelving thing. Too big to put with the singles and too small to put with the LP's. It reminds me of the 3" CD singles. Cool to look at. But they get lost on the shelves~
My Morning Jacket takes the cake here! Man.. so damn good live and that was a STEAL!! Their live albums go for a lot but mannnnnn I have some experiences with them! Now I need to go get one. Thanks Brian
Great duo Krause/Plant! Didn’t know Duran Duran was still recording. Even Johnny Marr has his limits. Always interesting to see your selections. Thanks for sharing, Brian.
Duran Duran interpreting Tone LOC? Interesting. Blue vinyl Kyuss records look great. Primal Scream record and package all looks awesome. I'm a big MMJ fan - they are great live, I'll bet the record sounds awesome. Congratulations on all the great finds!
@@EmbryonicRobot I thought about going back and re-listening to that part because I wasn't certain you said "Tone Loc." But I don't get the chance to mention Tone very often so I decided to run with it.
HP, Oh the vanity 😂 I'm not the biggest Robert Plant fan but I like how he constantly lets down Led Zeppelin fans because he just follows his muse. Didn't know Simon Le Bon & crew were still kicking. Of course you like Girls On Film you dirty dog. Kyuss! You've gone from a dirty dog to a dirty stoner. You need to hear the Fauves song Understanding Kyuss. Such great lyrics. I have never owned any Johnny Marr solo records. I saw him live once & I'm with you. It was only in the vocal department he's lacking. Oooo Primal Scream. Love Bobby & the gang. Especially the 80's/90's stuff. Nice package. The record that is. I've had the same experience with My Morning Jacket as you did with Duran Duran. Was into for a bit and then forgot all about them. I saw them support Neil Young once & they were pretty good. Although they were clearly suffering from the Melbourne summer heat. I have struggled to get into the Eels stuff since Blinking Lights. I really tried because I have the 4 records that followed Blinking. I've seen Eels probably 5 times too. Every show was completely different which I loved. A fit bike riding swimmer like yourself HP wouldn't have any trouble standing up & sitting down to change your 10" albums. Enjoy the meet up 👍
Two thumbs up to Girls on Film!! Filmmaking at its best. Maybe the best music video ever? I will look up the Fauves song Understanding Kyuss 🙂 I still like MMJ, though I never saw them live. I may get bored by the Duran Duran record . . .
So many cool vinyl colors in this video! There is a tears for fears song called "fish out of water" from their album " Elemental" and a lyric in the song mentions "Primal scream" lol.
I was fortunate to see Plant/Krause at the Hollywood Bowl during their tour of that album. It was my first time in LA too. I got that album from Walmart! discounted before RSD one year. It is a good one. They are a good Duo.
Some excellent buys, Brian! 20 bucks for that Primal Scream is a steal! Thanks for the kind mention and not publicly shaming me for my total ignorance about My Morning Jacket. I was so unaware that I thought the name of the band was 'Z' and the album name was My Morning Jacket. I listened to some last night and it took me back to my days of psychedelia. I'm curious about the Johnny Marr record. Are the lyrics interesting? It would be tough to write lyrics after being in a band with Morrisey, I would think.
Hi Mark, I think the Marr lyrics are, but there is nothing life-changing in them. I suppose he will inevitably be always compared with Morrissey, and he cannot compete is that area 🙂
I have both the plant and the Krauss albums on my want list. If I printed my want list it would be a thick book. I decided I would like to collect Duran Duran after the album Notorious but not in a hurry to do so. Like you I lost track of them. Primal scream is a band I have always loved so great buy. Nice Johnny Marr and Eels pick up!
I enjoyed both of the Krauss Plant titles. The price on the Duran Duran album was great. I've always loved that band. I'm still looking for a vinyl copy of the Wedding Album. The art direction in the booklets is excellent.
Hey Brian. Great video. I love that Plant-Krauss album as well. I like the early Kyuss albums. I saw Johnny Marr Live and enjoyed him way more than his albums, I thought his live version of How Soon Is Now was killer! Cheers
Some interesting pickups there, Brian. I had no idea Duran Duran were still in circulation; Girls On Film is a memorable video - like Belouis Some's 'Imagination' 😻Yes, there are Led Zep completists out there, and the Plant/Krauss duo is rivalled by John Paul Jones' collab. with Diamanda Galas (The Sporting Life) which is a vinyl grail for me.😍Kyuss is right in Aaron's wheelhouse, that's for sure. Well done on winning that comp. 🙂Cheers from Oz. John D.
You were really in the spotlight at the start Brian! 😂 I just never developed a taste for bluegrass, do never got into the Plant/Krauss stuff. “They must‘ve really liked the word raise”…”We’ll be looking forward to raising hell, rainy Cain or something like that”…I’ve never seen that Duran Duran album. Very nice insert with the photo book. I’m in full agreement with you on the unedited video for Girls On Film. Outstanding! “I wasn’t really interested in mainstream music, I guess”…Kyuss is one of those bands I stream once in a while, but never picked any up. You got a great deal with that one. “Not really a best of, but still interesting”…I want that Johnny Marr record. “I was listening to very weird things”…”✌️
When I was in Southern California a few years ago I drove out to find the Welcome to Sky Valley sign. I found the spot, but not the sign on the album cover as I believe that was stolen quite a few years before I found my way there. I did manage to see them on that tour though in England in ’94 or ’95.
I liked Duran Duran. I think the last thing I bought by them was Notorious. I have purged them all because I don’t think I will get the urge to listen to them. That has happened with me and a lot of 80s bands. I’ve heard a few people say they prefer Johnny Marr solo material over Morrissey solo material. My response is get real. A double 10” is so unnecessary. The lucky number of the day is 20.
The thing that surprised me most about the Plant/Krauss 2nd album is that it remains interesting and stands apart from the previous great album. I was afraid it would end up wearing out the sound they have together, but it adds to the previous album very well. I can listen to both albums and not get tired of their overall sound by the time I'm done, so that's a big win in my book. The verdict on the new Duran Duran is still out for deliberation for me, but I think it will grow on me. I try to listen to it by streaming it without thinking that they have been around for a long time, and its not too bad, but hasn't really left a lasting effect on me yet. Love Kyuss, great stoner rock. Cool Johnny Marr record, I was considering that one but maybe I'll try to listen to it first. I don't know a lot about Primal Scream though I have heard them a few times. I remember thinking that they were worth checking out more, but never really got around to it. Great score with the MMJ record, of course I would say that! I'm not sure if Canada really has an official way to date things because I've seen it done in about every way possible when filling out any kind of form, government or non-government. So "I finally concluded that there is no official way to date things here in Canada lol. mm/dd/yy or yyyy/mm/dd or dd/mm/yyyy or ydm/dmy/ymd take your pick lol. I was on the Primal Scream train during the Screamadelica, Give Out..., Vanishing Point period. Brings back memories of fun times in the early 90's for me. Seeing that Plant/Krauss LP reminded me I need to get that at some point: their Raising Sand I never get tired of. Duran Duran has lasted longer than just about anyone thought - good for them! Kyuss (and even QOTSA) seem like their 'too hard' to listen to, if that makes sense. I should give them a go at some point. Nice, Brian - and you go some deals to boot!
