  • By request from multiple subscribers, here is an update of my current methods for cleaning vinyl records.
    I have learned a lot about record collecting from the vinyl community. The VC is a great place for learning anything related to our passionate hobby of collecting and caring for records and other musical related formats.
    I hope you enjoy this posting. I hope it brings some laughs and some useful information. This is the last time I will post a cleaning video.
    Peace...

      Too much talking n going here n there picking up things not getting straight to the fact beating round the bush. Why not you jst mention on the subject mentioned tht you are tell us wht you are going to do. Too tired jst listening to your nagging. jst get your point n don't tell stories. Say what you are suppose to demonstrate on cleaning vinyl records b'cos I'm keen to see your method of cleaning. Wasting time long listening but more talk n less action. You talk picking this one n that one n in the end you end up with something else. Oh pls do a proper video n stick to the matter n finish it short n sharp! Tq!!!

    This was awesome, thanks heaps Topper for the update of your current methods for cleaning vinyl records. Have made notes and brand names, some unfortunately is not available here in Australia so I will have to order OS. But as I have literally 10,000's LP vinyl (all collected from Op shops etc - they had to be in Good to very good condition for me to buy them) I or Mrs will have a LONG way to go to clean them all before playing and cataloging them. Best of luck from Down Under.

    Great to see another cleaning video Topper, thank you for sharing your knowledge and helping those of us with a love of vinyl to get the best sound from our second hand record purchases. Personally, the first video I saw, the one where you start by apologising for the noise of the heater on what was obviously a old night, to be your finest. What a shame in this technological age, a video put on the Internet with the attention of helping others is subject to personal abuse from these so called trolls. Any criticism, whether constructive or down right abusive hurts, we are all human so I can well understand why you took them down. I certainly appreciate and enjoy all your videos and I'm obviously not alone looking at the figures off all those who subscribe to your channel. Rock on Topper!

So, I just ordered a low-profile cake stand turntable, a 1.75 HP shop vac and the Vinyl Vac 33 along with their concentrated solution. I recently learned how to better store my records by putting 3 mil outer sleeves and swapping out all my paper inner sleeves for MoFi archive sleeves. Now it’s time to up my cleaning game. Cheers!!! Thanks OddBoxTopper. Your original version was very inspiring to me. However that was many years ago. I bough the items and used them maybe once or twice and put them aside. Over the past few weeks I'm back at this. I did what I recalled and it worked well, just the distilled water and some jet dry, spray it on, then the edger paint tool, mine has the pivot part, around and some back and forth, clean the edger under running water and then rinse it off record under running water. Wipe off with clean microfiber cloth, and then let air dry setting on it's edges. A few hours later play it. It looks very clean and plays fine, as fine as a used old record will. Still has the crackly and any scratches are still there, but no longer that gritty sound from a dirty record.

  • @crazyprayingmantis5596
    @crazyprayingmantis5596 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I do the same minus the cake stand and vac.
    I just dry mine with 2 different microfibre towels.
    One for the first part and one for the rinse with distilled water.
    Leave to air dry under a fan on low.
    I use a magic eraser to clean my stylus too.
    Some people spend way too much and are way too fussy about cleaning records imo.
    These methods are absolutely fine, but sometimes you get some deep stuck on crud that can't be seen by eye baked into the grooves and these require an ultrasonic clean, but for 98% of dirty records this method is enough.
    Thanks Topper Cool video
