I have really bad GERD and I've been suffering chronically for a while and no proton pump inhibitorsor antacids are helping me and I also have lost 20 pounds almost and I've been to several emergency rooms and they just send me away and tell me it's probably chronic gerd or gastritis I've also had an abdominal ultrasound done on me and some of the doctors are rude and just say it's anxiety... I don't know what to do anymore 😔. I watched your video and I'm trying and struggling to get this diet down can you please reply and help me with this? I can't eat ordinary foods now, I left drinking coffee, tea, soft drinks also fast foods, and fried foods. if I eat those mentioned foods, I feel acidity within a short time. my life become Black and white nowadays.

They also have one that is unisex. Some also take Align, but it doesn't have many strains. There is also Microbiome plus. I would also add if you are taking probiotics that you will also need the right kind of fiber to feed your gut bacteria. Also, some people also IBS and not just GERD. I was having severe reflux, some simple changes that eliminated most of it to the point of healing before watching this video.
1- no coffee on empty stomach
    2- increase fibre intake
3- fresh coriander eaten alot ( for some reason it makes the gut calm down)
4- sleeping more on left side
    5- more sleep
    6- less stress
7- less junk food, especially biscuit type foods which were a big trigger.
8 - fat loss, this is underrated because it reduces pressure on the gut.

    *_SUMMARY OF VIDEO:_*
Prelim: Wean off all PPIs or antacids - start taking it intermittently, maybe every other day, every third day etc. Don't quit cold turkey because of hectic acid re-bound.
TEMPORARY FIXES: Take apple cider vinegar to start off with - preferably diluting 4 tablespoons in glass of water; chewing gum; Bicarb soda; Ginger root; Real rock salt.
    1. Skip the inflammatory diet (diary, grains - wheat, corn, rice, oatmeal; NO PROCESSED FOOD, spicy food, ), eat low carb, high fat diet - see his recommended video in the description.
    2. Lose weight - to reduce abdominal pressure which squeezes the stomach, pushing the acid back up into the esophagus. eat low carb, high fat diet , keto.
    3. Stop eating or drinking at least 2 hours before going to bed. 3 hours is better.
    4. Put some blocks/bricks under the head post of the bed to raise the head above the toes so the liquid acid will flow downwards.
    5. Give up smoking - absolutely, totally, just GIVE IT UP DUDE!; skip the caffeine and alcohol - these are the 3 things guaranteed to loosen the esophageal sphincter.
    6. Take a good quality probiotic. Best is kept in the fridge/cooler.
    7. Wear loose fitting clothes to prevent abdominal pressure.

My husband was on acid reflux medicine for yearrrsssssss. Without his medication, acid would come up his throat, and he'd throw up. I began giving him magnesium and stopping the med about a month ago, and he has not had any reflux since. We also try to have a large breakfast, a medium large lunch, and a small early dinner. We stopped snacking, so we're actually giving the acid in the stomach time to break down the food without opening the valve. Eating a big meal at night also leaves a big amount of food in your stomach that will push the acid up the valve when you lay down. We do eat high protein, fiber, low carb diet. No artificial sugar or processed food or whole wheat grains. These things have changed my husband's life, praise God.

The best information I have seen on it is from Low Carb Down Under. The theory is burning fat for fuel instead of carbohydrates. If you keep your carbohydrate intake less than 25 grams per day, your body will start using the stored fat for energy. Once that transition takes place you can maintain a high fat low carbohydrate diet and keep burning the excess fat stored all through your body. Lots of fats, lots of vegetables, four to six ounces of protein per meal, one or two meals per day. It isn't a very strict diet. It is more of a lifestyle change.

I looked at the collection of bottles and faced up to the reality that I needed to stop eating so damned much. • @davidatscp
    @davidatscp 5 ปีที่แล้ว +168

Thanks Dr Berry for this info!
Below is a summary with approx time mark in the video for the point made:
    For temp relief
    *
Proton Pump Inhibitors are OK for 2 wks or occasional use only
    *
2:00 You may need to take your PPI or H2 Blocker each day or every 2nd day whilst you implement the below strategies. You may then go to taking your PPI or H2 blocker every 3rd day whilst doing the below strategies.
    *
2:20 If GERD flares up, take it for 3-5 days, but then stop, because PPIs and H2 blockers stop you being able to absorb minerals because the PPIs and H2 blockers reduce you stomach acidity that helps with vitamin absorption etc.
    *
2:50 Taking PPIs and H2 Blockers every day long term can lead to increased risk of pneumonia, osteoporosis and dementia
    *
4:55 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar (with the "Mother") in a glass of water can provide immediate relief, as can chewing gum or licorice. You may be able to take ACV undiluted.
    *
5:35 A tablespoon of Baking Soda (Bicarb soda) in a glass of water will help raise the PH of your stomach as it has a PH of 7 and will dilute the acid in your esophagus
    *
6:10 Chewing on a piece of ginger root. Keep it in the fridge and slice off a piece to chew on when you have heartburn
    *
6:25 A pinch of unprocessed sea salt (like Redman's) on the tongue
    For long term cure
    *
7:05 Remove grains, liquid dairy from diet and eat a low inflammatory diet - Low Carb, Keto or carnivore
    *
8:10 Lose weight and don't put pressure on the stomach. Low Carb, Keto, Carnivore can help this
    *
9:00 Stop eating and drinking 2 hrs before lying down in bed. Your sphincter (valve) is supposed to be closed all the time, but it can become dysfunctional and leak acid up the esophagus. You may not feel symptoms during the night from your acid going into the esophagus, but you will feel it the next day.
    *
10:15 Raise the head of the bed 2-4 inches with bricks. Don't use more pillows under your head as they will put pressure on your stomach
    *
11:40 Stop smoking, drinking too much alcohol and drinking too much coffee. May need to stop coffee and alcohol temporarily.
    *
13:10 Have a good Probiotic (refrigerated one are usually better, not from China Mart)
    *
13:55 Don't have a belt or girdle done up to tight. Wear loose-fitting clothes.

I've always claimed that I live a charmed life.
Listening to this video confirms it.
    I was a child of the 60s.
    1. For most of my life I wore jeans so tight that I had to lay down on the bed to button and zip them.
    2. I've smoked since I was 15 and I'm now over 70.
    3. I've always eaten whatever I like, whenever I like. A big bowl of spicy chili with beans an hour or less before bedtime is not unusual!
I've NEVER had heartburn. I wonder if it's because my favorite breakfast has always been bacon and eggs? Boiled eggs are my favorite snack, and deviled eggs are my favorite side dish. It also could be because I grew up on a farm eating veggies from our garden, the meat we raised, and fruit from our little orchard.
You'll be happy to hear that I'm currently working towards being either carnivore or keto-vore.

This topic I'm an expert in because I suffered from acid since I was in my early 20s. I was a pill taker and took tums everyday. But a person told the acid is not the problem. The problem is that you don't have enough acid in your stomach. I started taking Apple Cider vinegar every day before I had my first meal. I've been on 3 to 4 table spoons with water everyday with ACV for 15 years and acid is gone. Prebiotic is also a must to help eliminate it.

First time I've heard of anyone else waking up choking from acid reflux. I had that happen 2 weeks ago, i was terrified. I did get an endoscopy done, with 3 biopsies. Only the ecinaphilic asophageolitis came up positive, my esophagus was swollen. Has to do with undiagnosed allergies. Dr said i was lucky I didn't choke. I knew i had some allergies but after the positive results i went and had extensive food allergies test, my food allergies were some of the worse they have encountered. I had never heard of encinophilic asophageolitis before. I had horrible acid reflux, liquid would shout out. Undiagnosed food allergies can cause serious acid reflux. The Dr on some of these sights are so on tract with diet. My extremely high, wheat, milk, eggs, oats, rice, potatoe, lemon, pork, beef, oranges, apples, pears, tomatoes, soy, corn, nuts, seafood, molds. I had my test done by blood test which was more accurate. There were others on their too. Shared these in hopes of helping someone else. My stomach and throat were under attack and un fire from undiagnosed food allergies. I highly recommend this test ( biopsy) i never even knew it existed before. Sorry so long, hope this helps. 🦋💖

Thank you! Such great info. I am a gastric bypass patient and have had to take RXs for gerd for years. Now, with all the cons of them coming out, I stopped them cold turkey. While I am not grossed out easily, I can't stand the thought of phlegm/ mucus. I started getting a constant white film on my tongue and nothing I did got rid of it. After having to clear my throat too, I finally figured put through research what it was and now I constantly am gagging just thinking about it. I also am a chronic pain patient with pretty severe problems in my neck and back brought on much by inflammation in those joints as well as all over my body. I'm going to definitely give some of these suggestions a try. If thete is anything else you can think of that may specifically relate to myself, I would love to hear them. Again, thanks for the information you do. Doctors like you who give out such generous tips and suggestions are very rare and greatly appreciated.

So true. Keto actually made my husbands gut too acidic. He developed severe reflux with scarring in the esophagus. He couldn’t eat or drink anything so once we changed his diet to alkaline, he is able to eat again & the inflammation is going down. Fruit, veg, no chocolate, no sugar, no spices, no caffeine, only natural whole foods.

Thank you Dr. Berry I really really mean it. Liked and Subbed. ive been in terrible pain the last week. Chugging milk thinking that would help. I stopped the baby cow juice diet and took some sodium bicarbonate, 10 minutes later I burped so long and loud my cat hid under the couch. But it was like I moved all the pain out in the burp. I feel like an 18 year old again. You made a difference in someone's life tonight. Sounds corny, but it is just a fact.

I had a bad case and permanently resolved it with the Aloe Vera gel from the leaf, pure honey, apple cider vinegar (teaspoon of each in half a glass of water). I took that about 3-4 times per week twice a day and in 4 months it stopped. I would take it right before I ate a meal. After that, I would drink water. I even stopped drinking coffee and soda. I also took a good probiotic as well. At night, I slept on my left side which helped. I drank chamomile tea and bone broth soups as well. I stopped eating fried foods. It’s been about 10 years. After I felt great, I tried to eat fried foods. I didn’t have a reaction, however, why take a risk and fall back to getting heart burn. Now we have air fryers which I have. The funny part is that I got so used to not frying that I don’t even think to use the air fryer. There just comes a time at a certain age where the body can no longer accept particular foods. I hope all of those who are suffering will find an answer to getting healed. The remedy I posted was given to me, however, it doesn’t mean it would work for someone else. I wish everyone total healing. The video has excellent recommendations.

Always go to sleep on your left side. Acid has a harder time leaking out if it has to leak upwards. Sleeping on your right side enables the acid to leak downward. It helped me enormously when I started doing this.

My gastroenterologist told me fat intake relaxes the Gastroesophageal sphincter that is connected to your esophagus. Not too sure how truthful that is but I had esophageal damage 37 cm from the back of my throat close to my gastroesophageal Sphincter. No matter what I ate it hurt every time I ingested food. It appears that cold butter and cold high fat meat does not do that. I now only eat butter directly from my freezer and eat chilled high fat meat that has been cooked. I have tried to stop Pepcid and have weaned off it a number of times but always need to start taking it again. Eating BBB&E I have lost 33 pounds but the GERD still remains. By the way, I eat No sugar, grains or starches EVER! I read ALL labels and eat NO prepackaged keto anything! I have been doing this since February 24,2022. Don’t know what I am doing wrong, but the weight loss is extremely slow

Dr. Berry is spot on. Excellent explanations. Even Ben Fuchs, Pharmacist, Critical Health News says KETO is the best way to eat, period.
A GERD trigger for me is STRESS. Once I got it under control & better breathing haven't had any bad episodes. Have implemented temp fixes Dr. Berry detailed & will do keto. Had put it off, just wanted to make sure it wasn't fad dieting.

The vinegar and chewing gum are two things my doctor told me not to take. I've been drinking hot/warm water (2 cups) every morning. A doctor said do this for 10 days and I'd see a major difference, along with eating smaller meals and avoid trigger foods.
